Blog Tour & Review – Imagine With Me, Kristen Proby

September 30, 2020 By

Imagine With Me by Kristen Proby is now live!

From New York Times Bestselling author Kristen Proby, comes an all new novel in her beloved With Me In Seattle series! Shawn O’Callaghan loves his job as a screenwriter almost as much as he loves his family. But this latest project could quite possibly test his patience beyond anything he’s ever had to endure. Generally unflappable, the author he’s thrown into the trenches with pushes every button he has. Sometimes twice. And it doesn’t help that he can’t stop thinking about her in ways that are anything but professional. But how can he help it? The brunette is gorgeous beyond reason–and utterly infuriating. Bestselling author Lexi Perry is finally about to leave her mark on the world; after all, seeing her dark and dangerous words brought to life is a dream come true. Until she meets the man who is supposed to make that happen. From the minute they laid eyes on each other, it was clear there would be tension, but she had no idea how much until they got down to business. He obviously doesn’t understand her vision. Though she’s having trouble lately too, given all she can picture is what he looks like under his clothes and imagining what it would sound like if he talked dirty to her in that sexy Irish lilt of his. If they can find a way to meet in the middle, this movie could be one for the ages. As could their love.

Sandra's Review

5 out of 5 stars

Imagine with Me is the fifteen full-length standalone in one of my favorite series, With Me in Seattle by Kristen Proby. It’s the twentieth all together and I have read almost every single one. A few novellas slipped through and I need to read them soon. Very soon. Each book is connected and if you read Dream with Me then you have met Shawn, Kane’s brother.

Lexi is a novelist who enjoyed staying up curled up in a cozy throw blanket while either writing her next book or reading one. She didn’t leave her home often. She hated crowds, meeting new people, and flying. She was nervous about her trip to Seattle for those very things but she needed to be out there to work on a screenplay for one of her books. She didn’t want to give up control of her words, her characters, or her thoughts. She would be working with Shawn O’Callaghan. A brilliant and young screenwriter. She wasn’t excited about it especially after their first meeting. He wasn’t exactly welcoming…or ever on time.

Shawn usually did this alone and now he was working with a woman who pushed his buttons. Every. Last. One. She was sassy, witty, and a little odd. She needed to relax and he needed to not commute an hour and half every morning from the island he called home. So, they took their work there. One month and after one intense night of letting their pent-up desires go they make a deal. Coworkers with benefits. No strings attached. Easy, right? That always works out. Haha!

I devoured this book! Just like every other one in the series I have read. One sitting. One morning. That was it. Kristen’s books always pull me in with her lovable characters. Secondary ones as well especially when I know they will get their stories are too. The O’Callaghans are amazing. So much fun, loving, and supportive. Anyway, I loved Shawn and Lexi. Seeing her out of her comfort zone and thriving was badass. And, as usual with Proby books, the drunk scene was hilarious! I can’t wait for the next book!! See you again in Seattle in January!

Quotes:

“Do many murders take place amongst the Irish?” I ask Keegan, who raises a brow.

“Are you planning to kill him, then? What’ll it take to get you to wait until this evening is over? I don’t have anyone on hand to fill in in the kitchen.”

“You have a safe word,” he reminds me.

“Fuck the safe word,” I growl. “Just touch me. This is torture.”

“I can be vulnerable. I’m an artist.”

Blurb

Summer nights and star-crossed lovers! From USA Today bestselling author Sarina Bowen.

Once upon a time, he gave me a summer of friendship, followed by one perfect night. We shared a lot during our short time together. But he skipped a few crucial details.

I didn’t know he was a rock star.

I didn’t know his real name.

Neither of us knew I’d get pregnant.

And I sure never expected to see him again.

Five years later, his tour bus pulls up in Nest Lake, Maine. My little world is about to be shattered by loud music and the pounding of my own foolish heart.

5 out of 5 stars

Lies & Lullabies is the first book in the Hush Note series by Sarina Bowen. It’s a multi author series with Devney Perry and Rebecca Yarros, but can be read as a standalone. Lies & Lullabies is a second chance, rock star romance! I had the pleasure of listening to it in audio and I adored Tim Paige and Erin Mallon are fantastic! It’s an emotional story and they are so great at showing emotion with their voices! Jonas needed a break from his life so he sent to Maine for the summer and met the most amazing woman, Kira. They became fast friends and eventually lovers. Then he was gone. Now it’s five years later and he’s back. He never forgot Kira and has always loved her. Kira didn’t want to hide his daughter from him, she just couldn’t bring herself to contact him and then time just got away from her. But now he’s back and he wants to be a part of her life. Hers and his daughter’s. Kira isn’t sure she’ll be handle being involved with a rock star and all his life entails. But she loves him and she’s willing to try. I loved watching these two fall for each other twice! Their road to happiness wasn’t easy, but it was true and right. I loved how dedicated Jonas was to his girls and I loved Kira’s brother, Adam. That little extra side story warmed my heart! Overall, I loved it! I laughed, cried and really enjoyed listening to their story!

Sandra's Review

5 out of 5 stars

Lies and Lullabies is the first book in the Hush Notes series. A three author series, and first up is Sarina Bowen’s story about second chances and summer nights.

One summer five years changed their lives except neither of them knew how much. Jonas was a hot mess after he left back to his life as a rockstar, he never forgot the girl he fell in love with it. And Kira became a single parent while finishing college. She never forgot the man who made her feel everything. That summer was unforgettable and that was why Jonas begged his band to take a detour to the small town in Maine. He wanted to be in a place that made him happy. He had no idea she would be there too, she lived in Boston but fate had other plans. It was time to get his girl back, he had no idea that there were two girls to prove his love to. He had to up his game…

Kira was in shock. She never thought she would see him  again. The man who she fell for. The one she spent one beautiful night with. The father of her child. She didn’t even know his real name that summer. And now, he was here. In her hometown with his band for forty-eight hours. The chemistry was still there but what will happen when he finds out that he has a little girl? Will he forgive her for not trying harder to tell him? Will it just prove that their love was even more special? Can Kira deal with his rockstar schedule and life?

O.M.G I love them!! Vivi is so f*cking adorable, no joke. Adorable! She is a firecracker and so darn sweet. Jonas and Kira have so much to work through. It’s all about trust, love, and respect. I loved the connection within the Kira and Jonas, between Jonas and Vivi. Kira and Vivi. And even Vivi and Uncle Adam. I was all in from beginning to end. I laughed. I teared up. I laughed. I got hot and bothered. And swooned. It was definitely a beautiful and wild ride.

Quotes:

Just remembering that night made my chest ache. No wonder songwriters made so much of summertime memories. If I closed my eyes, I could still conjure the potent, warm air and bright stars.

“I made whoopie pies today. Do you want one for dessert?”

“Hell, yes. Whatever that is. It sounds naughty.”

“This bed is biiiiig!” Vivi hollered, performing a forward somersault on its surface. “I like it. It’s fun to play on.” At that, Jonas winked at me, a grin spreading across his mouth. My face flamed.

Blog Tour & Review – Headlines, Ella Frank

September 29, 2020 By

Headlines, the intense and all too sexy conclusion of the Prime Time Series from USA Today bestselling author Ella Frank is available now!

Xander If I had to describe Sean Bailey, it would be as the sexy, caring, wonderful man I’ve gone and fallen in love with. I never could’ve imagined a world where he was my everything. But with each passing day, the connection between us grows stronger, and the idea of a world without him is something I can’t imagine.

But Sean’s love doesn’t come without complications. As the older brother of my lifelong best friend, this new love has caused relationships to break down and communication to become stilted, and the one question that remains is: am I willing to give up the love and friendship of one for the chance of love and forever with another?

Sean I didn’t mean to fall in love with Alexander Thorne, my brother’s ex and the number one prime-time news anchor in the country. I mean, no one could’ve seen that coming—least of all me. But that’s exactly what happened over these past couple of months: I fell in love.

That’d be complicated enough, I suppose, but Xander? Well, he fell in love with me too, and while it’s caused some major upset in the dynamics around here, I have to believe that a love this real can only lead to somewhere amazing.

This thing between us started out as a job, a friend helping out a friend. But after playing the role of Xander’s boyfriend, I find myself wanting the job full-time, because neither of us are playing anymore.

Headlines is the final book of the Prime Time Series and should only be read after book one, Inside Affair, and book two, Breaking News.

Sandra's Review

5 out of 5 stars

Headlines is the third book in the Prime Time series by Ella Frank. You can NOT read this as a standalone, it’s the conclusion to Sean and Xander’s beautiful, complicated, and suspenseful love story. It picks up a few weeks after Breaking News ended. Ella is one the queens of cliffhangers and I love it.

Over the last few months their lives have changed in so many ways. Sean and Xander weren’t exactly friends when Sean steps up to protect his brother’s best friend/ex-boyfriend. But over time, with many talks and an unexpected attraction their relationship moved step by step into love. Nobody saw this coming especially Bailey and now he feels betrayed, hurt, and in shock. Can the three of them move on or will Sean and Xander have to make a difficult decision to save their relationship with Bailey?

Wow! What a conclusion to this couple’s story. They definitely have their ups and downs to deal with. It’s not easy but worth it, right? Love always is. I just love their banter and passion. Their strength within themselves and to each other. They bring out the best in the other and it’s amazing.

Quotes:

Ice Hearts is the second book in the Fury series by the talented Monty Jay. I absolutely loved Love & Hockey and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Riggs’ book. The story is gripping, the writing is fantastic and I love all of these characters. This book isn’t about hockey as much as the last book. It’s emotional, sad, heartbreaking and hopeful all at the same time. Aurelia Riggs is ice cold. She lives her life her way. Does what she wants with men and that’s it. No dating. No love. Nico Jett lives by his heart. Yes, he’s a great hockey player and he’s talented, but he’s warm, caring, fun and loving. He felt an instant spark them second he saw Riggs years ago, but he knew she would never take him seriously. Now, after a life changing experience and a mistake he’s saddled with her for PR purposes only. But Nico isn’t going to waste this gift he’s been given. He wants Aurelia’s heart and he’s going to get it. Riggs is trying to put her life back together. She’s taking care of herself, doing yoga, trying to be better. She wants Nico, but she knows she’ll only break his beautiful heart. Will she be able to take a chance on love? Will Nico be able to show her that she deserves to be loved? This story had all the feels! I love these characters so much and I was so invested in their story. It’s hard to read at times, but worth it in the end. Overall, I loved it. I laughed, cried, got hot and bothered, got mad and smiled. Nico is the perfect boyfriend! He believes in love, but he’s alpha. He knows when to push and when to back off. He’s determined and he has a heart of gold and the body of a god. Perfection!

Sandra's Review

5 out of 5 stars

Ice Hearts is the second book in the Fury series by Monty Jay. I still can’t believe this is her debut series since it’s so good. You can read each book as a standalone but I HIGHLY recommend reading Love & Hockey. It’s not the same couple but it will give you more of an understanding into Riggs’ life. Her highs and her lows.

A year ago both Riggs and Nico’s lives changed. He saw her. He knew she was beautiful and badass but in a moment, he saw her. The real her and he wanted to get to know her more now. It was time. And after a loss, Nico doesn’t want to lose anymore time. It’s so fate that Riggs is assigned to him to clean up his image after months of falling apart. She needed three months to do her job. All he wanted was one month to show her that she was for him. He wanted the cheesy dates she says she hates. He wanted to give her flowers after ringing her doorbell. He was scared. She was terrified. Was it worth it? She was cold as ice to him but he knew she would melt under his touch. He wanted her to know she was worthy of love and to prove that she knows how to love. He wants her to see the woman he already sees. A badass with a heart of gold. He just has to break the ice first.

I knew this book was going to be amazing! Riggs deserves the world and I sensed Nico was man enough to show it to her. He was so gentle and sweet in Love & Hockey. Their banter in this book was emotional, raw, funny, flirty, and hot. The writing pulls you in and doesn’t let you go. It was fun catching up with the group and being introduced to a new player! Poor Emerson…I really hope he gets his own story one day.

Overall…it’s an emotional ride full of passion, suspense, heat, hockey, friendship, family, love, and the sea. I can’t wait for the next book!

Quotes:

She didn’t need a man, she was her own man. It intimidated the fuck out of me, but it also turned me on. Her ambition, her success, her determination made me want her in ways I never thought possible.

“Let me make this clear, I’m not some ditzy girl, with flowers in her hair, and Jesus in her soul.” She clicks her tongue, waving her arms around as she speaks. “I’m not a princess, I’m a bitch, and I fucking bite.”

“You may have been born in a world of darkness, Aurelia, but you are made of light.”

Kara's Review

Excerpt

I watched Kira ride off, wondering what the hell had just happened. Sure, she probably guessed that I wrote that song about her. But she’d only heard the first few bars before sprinting away like I was the devil himself.

Spinning around, I located the lodge’s bike shed. I rolled a bike out and hopped on. The seat was too low for me, so I had to stand up on the pedals.

But no matter. I rode off after Kira, my first time on a real bike in years.

The road curved around to the left, and Kira’s house soon came into view. She was sitting on the front steps. She didn’t look all that surprised to see me biking toward her, but the look of pain on her face was so vivid that I could feel it in my gut. Something was wrong, and I still didn’t know what.

“Feel any better?”

She shook her head, and I thought I saw fear in her eyes.

“Kira,” I said softly. “I know you want me to leave you alone right now, but I can’t—our conversation isn’t over. In twenty-four hours I’ll be back on that bus. Honestly, you’re scaring me. When I last saw you, things seemed like they were on the upswing for you. When I said I think about you all the time, I didn’t mean to be a creeper. I meant that I was picturing a happy ever after for you.”

“Mama!” a little voice called from beyond the screen door.

At the sound of it, Kira’s whole body went rigid. And then tears spilled down her cheeks.

I heard little footsteps pounding onto the screened porch. And then a small set of hands became visible against the door just behind Kira. Quick as a flash, Kira leapt to her feet and spun around, darting through the door. It closed with a bang behind her.

“Whoa,” a man’s voice said. “Deep breaths, Kiki. What did he say?”

The hair stood up on my neck. I dropped the bicycle and covered the distance to the stoop in three paces. Leaping up, I opened the screen door. A little girl stood there, with fair, curly hair and blue-green eyes. I was no good with kids’ ages. She wasn’t an infant, but she wasn’t school-aged either. There was a babyish fullness to her face. She was three? Four? Five? I looked up at Kira.

“I’m so sorry,” she squeaked.

That’s when I finally understood. And I almost couldn’t draw breath to speak again. “I… She… What the fuck, Kira?”

“That’s a very bad word,” the little girl said, accusation in her voice.

“Sorry,” I said automatically. I raised my eyes to Kira’s. “You… She…”

I couldn’t think. There was pressure in my ears, and my pulse was ragged. Dizzy, I thought, absently, putting one hand on the door jamb for support.

“Breathe, man,” the guy behind Kira said. He wore a bright pink polo shirt and an expression of concern. “Sit down. Seriously, before you crash.”

I bent over and grabbed my knees. “Oh my God.” The only thing I could hear was my own ragged breathing and Kira’s choked sobs.

“Mama!” a little voice said, full of alarm. “Don’t cry!”

The scary moment stretched on, until I heard yet another bicycle approaching outside. A moment later, another male voice called out, “Knock-knock!”

The pink-polo-shirt guy answered him, his voice full of false cheer. “Hi, Luke!” Under his breath he added, “Wow. It’s raining men.” Then he scooped the little girl up in his arms, stepped around me, and walked out the screen door. It closed behind him with a bang.

I just stood there, staring at my shoes, trying to catch my breath. Kira’s shoes moved into my visual field, but I wasn’t ready to talk to her yet. Not until my head could clear. Which would probably be sometime next week.

We stood here, awkward and quiet for a couple of long minutes. There was some low-key chatter outside, and then I heard the sound of the bicycle departing.

The guy in the polo shirt came back inside, alone.

“You’re her brother.” I coughed, trying to reconstruct the world into a rational place.

“Yup,” the guy said. “Uncle Adam.”

“Where is Vivi?” Kira asked, her voice raw.

“Luke is taking her for a little bike ride. There may be ice cream involved.”

“Really, Adam?” Kira moved quickly to peer through the screen. “But that’s awkward.”

“Oh, honey. We have first class tickets on the HMS Awkward today. And the ship has sailed. Luke even had a pink helmet for her, Kiki. Just go with it, okay? I told him you were having a moment.”

I straightened up. “She’s having a moment,” I spat out. “Is that what this is?” My pulse was still pounding in my ears, but now from anger instead of shock.

Kira was as pale as a sheet. “I was going to tell you today.” She pulled a photo out of her pocket. “Here. I was trying to find a way.”

I snatched the picture from her hand. “She’s, what, four?” The photo shook as I tried to look at it. The little girl smiled up at the camera, a stuffed animal in her hands. It was purple. Somehow this detail made it all the more real. The little girl in the photo was clutching the purple cat I’d won at the fair all those years ago.
