New Release & Review – Liars, Lucy Lennox & May Archer

October 27, 2020 By

Parrish Partridge’s True Facts:

There’s nothing hotter than a tall, gruff, bewildered, tattooed mountain of a man cuddling a sweet, orphaned baby, so you can tell yourself that you’ll resist him…

But that’s a lie.

And when that man asks you to do him a favor and pretend to be his very temporary, very fake fiance to help him get custody of that adorable baby, you can pretend you know better than to say yes…

But that’s a lie, too.

And when you actually get to know your kind, strong, pullet-loving prince of a fiance, and all his crazy, lovable, meddling neighbors, you can tell yourself you’re not really falling for Diesel Church and the town of Licking Thicket…

But that might be the biggest lie of all.

Kara's Review

5 out of 5 stars

Liars is the second book in the Licking Thicket series by Lucy Lennox and May Archer. I absolutely loved Fakers, the first book, and I was giddy with excitement when I saw Diesel was getting a story! We met both him and Parrish in Fakers and they are the unlikeliest pair in the Thicket! Diesel is tall and tattooed with the biggest heart. Parrish is smaller, well put together and comes from money. But the minute they met, there was instant attraction. But when Diesel needs help getting custody of his niece, Parrish agrees. Eventually. He likes to talk to himself and he’s hilarious and silly and says the funniest things I’ve ever heard. Diesel adores him and before they know it, there’s kisses and taking care of Marigold together and it doesn’t feel like a lie at all. Mostly, because they are only lying to themselves. I loved watching Diesel and Parrish fall for each other and not even realize when it happened. Marigold stole my heart and I love every person who lives in Licking Thicket! I seriously want to move there and be with these people! I can’t wait for the next in the series. Flakes is coming in January!

“I would be honored if there was a next time. Every minute I spend with you is a gift I feel like I don’t deserve. I don’t know why you stayed today, but…damn. I’m sure grateful.”

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Marked Men series comes an irresistible and suspenseful romance between a doctor who plays by the rules and the outlaw who breaks them in order to protect her.

Dr. Presley Baskin has always lived a quiet, calm life. Unfortunately, nothing about her life in Loveless, Texas — especially not the wild, rowdy, and impossibly close-knit Lawton family who’ve claimed her — is quiet or calm. Which is how loner Presley finds herself roped into patching up local bad boy Shot Caldwell against her better judgment. Presley wants nothing to do with the dangerous, brooding leader of the local outlaw motorcycle club. But when someone starts stalking her, Shot is the only person she trusts to help. Plus he owes her one . . .

Palmer ‘Shot’ Caldwell has always known his life isn’t made for relationships. At least until shy, secretive, Presley reluctantly pulled a bullet out of him. He’s oddly protective of the pretty doctor, so when she comes to him for help, hard-hearted Shot suddenly realizes there’s nothing he wouldn’t do to keep her safe.

Release Day & Review – Code Name: Rook, Sawyer Bennett

October 27, 2020 By

Code Name: Rook (Jameson Force Security, Book #6)
Sawyer Bennett
Release Date: October 27, 2020

Being a highly skilled operative for a company like Jameson Force Security is exhilarating and important work…until it comes time to date. I like to keep my profession under wraps for a number of reasons. Some of what we do is top secret, most of what we do is dangerous, and more than one woman has tried to latch onto me because she was more enamored with what I do than who Cage Murdock really is. And since I’m more of a ‘here for the night’ than a ‘here for forever’ kind of guy, what’s the harm in a little white lie about my job?

My harmless deceit has never failed me. Until now. Because I met the most amazing woman and did the unthinkable. I married her. And now my beautiful, unsuspecting, probably-going-to-leave-my-sorry-behind-when-she-finds-out-the-truth wife doesn’t know that I’m not a used car salesman like I told her when we met.

As it typically does with lies, the truth is about to come out in a big way when Jaime unwittingly gets herself mixed up with some unsavory characters and I, along with the team at Jameson, have to intervene. Now I need to save my girl and hope I can save my marriage too. Let’s just say I have some serious explaining to do.

5 out of 5 stars

Code Name: Rook is the sixth book in the Jameson Force Security series by Sawyer Bennett. Each book can be read as a standalone but I do recommend reading the series since they are all have their unique stories. In Code Name: Ghost we get a glimpse into Cage and Jaime’s story so I couldn’t wait to get the complete one.

Cage was the playboy of the group. His career doesn’t give him much time to date so he keeps his fun to one night only. He lets the women know the deal and it helps that he doesn’t tell them what he really does for a living. Woman would either be okay with it, ask questions or be a stage five clinger so he makes up an occupation. It was never a big deal until he meets her. Jaime, a woman who makes the first move with confidence. A woman he enjoys the night with and he doesn’t want to leave in the morning. He should have known then that she was different but he has never been in a relationship and he didn’t know if this would turn into one. He wanted to wait until the right moment. It probably should have been before he married her.

Yep. Married. After a few weeks. He was so screwed. Jaime hated liars and his was a little lie that turned into a life-changing one. Can she forgive her husband?

I have loved every one of the books in this series and it’s the same with this one. The Jameson men and women sure know how to fall in love. It’s not easy but worth it. Every single time. Cage and Jaime have a fun, sexy, and complicated relationship. They both have careers they are passionate about and help people in different ways.

Overall…it’s a story about love, friendships, family, trust, and passion. Once I started, I didn’t want to put the book down. I can’t wait for the next book! I don’t think it’s been announced so I can’t say a word but it’s going to be good…

“I don’t feel the need to rebound.”

“Just regular sex then?” I suggest.

“Regular sex sounds boring.”

Christ, she’s funny. Laughing, I note her drink is low. “How about I buy you another drink while we debate the merits of this?” “That sounds like a great plan,” she replies brightly.

“I don’t slink,” I reply, offended. “I saunter.”

“I’ve been seeing someone.” My words are tentative.

Bodie breathes into the line. “Holy fuck. It’s end of days.”

Release Day & Review – Spells, Kristen Proby

October 27, 2020 By

Spells by Kristen Proby is now live!

From New York Times Bestselling Author, Kristen Proby, comes Spells, the next installment in her gripping Bayou Magic series…

As a powerful hedgewitch and psychic, there isn’t much I can’t work to my advantage and finesse with a spell. Love, fortune, and even the perfect cup of coffee are all possible with the snap of my fingers. But some things are utterly beyond my control. Like the powerful and broody warlock who’s been a part of my life for as long as I can remember–and even the lifetimes I often can’t. Things almost as dangerous as Lucien Bergeron’s hold on me and the breathtaking smiles only I get to see. Or the evil still stalking the streets of New Orleans that beckons to me to see. To feel. To die. With everything riding on a razors-edge, and things that have been portended coming to fruition, threatening both me and those I love, I’m not sure if I’m strong enough to resist my fate. Or his charm. If I work with Lucien, it could mean the end for both of us. If I don’t, those I love most will pay.

Sandra's Review

5 out of 5 stars

Spells is the second book in the Bayou Magic series by Kristen Proby. It can be read as standalone but I highly recommend reading Shadows so you have the complete story. Three sister witches. One evil being. Brielle found her love and now it’s time for Millie to give into hers. A man who is her soul mate.

Lucien and Millie have known each other for years. She started seeing him in her dreams and nightmares since childhood. Then, she saw him a decade ago in real life. From that moment she felt something between them and since then she has put up her walls. Magically and emotionally. She has enough going on in her life. He should be easy to stay away from but he has other plans. Lucien won’t push but he knows they are soul mates and have been over many lifetimes. And, now his stubborn Millicent needs to believe it. He knew something dark was coming and they need their powers, together to fight. To survive in this lifetime.

I can’t really say more than that. I can say that this is the perfect Halloween read. I am a Halloween baby so I love books like this. Witches. Evilness. Spells. This has it all and more. Family. These sisters are the best. They each bring something to the table. Magically and in support.

Overall, it’s full of witchy goodness, family, love, suspense, and brew. I can’t wait for the next book! I love that Proby releases right around Halloween. 🎃🕸🕷

“Stop reading my mind. I didn’t give you permission to do that.”

“You’re new here,” I say, pointing to Sanguine. “You don’t get an opinion.”

“I can’t read you, and you know it,” Lucien replies. “And it’s damn frustrating.”

“I’m an air sign, you know,” I say.

“Oh, I’m aware. Our connection affects the energy around us. Electricity is energy. We might blow a fuse or two tonight.”

“I wonder what it’s like,” I murmur as my lips trail down her neck, “to have sex in a library.”

“I think we’re about to find out.”
