About the Book

Lynnwood Thatcher Windsor has lived a lot of lies. Seen a lot of good men go down.

But he will not stand by and watch as the world he’s built from the ground up burns to ashes before his eyes. Even if he has to build an army to combat the problem he sees brewing around him.

One step at a time, he carefully lays out his plan, building layer after careful layer until everything is where he wants it to be.

Every part is impeccably played, his pawns are in the perfect place, and then she barrels into his life, totally scattering every single piece he’s set in motion.

The bad thing is, she doesn’t even realize how badly she’s messed up until she’s roused the beast.

***

The day that Six Ines Broussard met Lynnwood Thatcher Windsor was the worst day of her life.

First, she has a public breakup with a man she’s not even dating. Second, she has to deal with a black-tie event that she’d rather gouge her eyes out than to go to. Third, she then has to sit at a table for hours on end with the one man she despises.

Just wanting a break, she thinks she’ll lose herself for a few hours and do what she loves to do best—spend time by herself and go for a walk in the middle of nowhere, spot some birds, and get a little sun. Only, her day doesn’t go nearly as planned.

She walks right into the middle of hell. And at the center of it? Lynnwood Thatcher. The mayor. The man that she took one glance at on the night of his inauguration and dismissed as boring. A total stick in the mud.

Only, he’s not so boring shirtless, in the middle of nowhere, doing things that are very illegal.

At first, she’s appalled. Then her interest gets piqued. Stuck-up suit is hot! And he has tattoos. Oh, and let’s not forget one hell of a mouth on him!

Then he goes and kidnaps her, and she realizes that nobody is quite as hot as you thought they were when they’re now holding you hostage.

Kara's Review

5 out of 5 stars

Repeat Offender is the first book in the  Souls Chapel Revenants MC series by Lani Lynn Vale. This is mayor Lynn’s story! We’ve met him over a few books and he was so intriguing that fans wanted his story and Lani gave it to us! And oh man, did she give it to us. I didn’t even realized I needed his story until I started reading it! Lani brings the heat with this one so prepare yourself! Lynn might be in a perfect suit and tie all day, but underneath he’s all muscle and tattoos. Six doesn’t know what exactly about Lynn makes her heart race but once she sees him she can’t stop thinking about him. Lynn isn’t looking for a woman, but when he sees Six it’s over. She’s it. He might need to kidnap her to get her keep quiet but then he realizes she’s loyal and honest and…his. Six and Lynn might have nothing in common, but they are just it for each other. He’s going to keep her safe. She’s going to keep him on his toes. I loved their story! It wasn’t a fluffy romance, but it had enough of the fun and laughs that I’m used to from Lani. It’s a sexy as sin romance with suspense, new characters that are going to be awesome! This new series is going to be sexy and dirty and fun!

Release Day, Review & Excerpt – Roommate, Sarina Bowen

January 12, 2021 By

Wanted: One roommate to share a 3-bedroom house, split the rent, and ideally not be the guy I can’t stop thinking about.

I’m a man with too many secrets, so the last thing I need is a new roommate with a sexy smile and blue eyes that see right through me. Eight years ago, Roderick left town after high school. We’re not friends. I owe him nothing. But back then, I let one of my secrets slip, and he’s the only one who noticed.

Part of me knows I should run far, far away. But the other part wants him to come upstairs and spend the night. But if I let him in, I could lose everything.

Seeking: a room to rent in town. I’m tidy, have no pets, and I will feed you homemade bread.

I should probably add: Gay AF, and has no filter. It’s no wonder my new landlord is so wary of me.

A smarter man would ignore those hot glances from Kieran Shipley. The broody lumberjack wants more from me than another fresh-baked pretzel. But if I push my luck, I’ll end up back on the street.

Too bad I’ve never been smart with my heart…

Back at home, I do all the chores and then some.

First I put the cows in the north pasture. Moving cows is easy enough in good weather. It only requires me to move the portable fence and wave them through the opening. “Go on, enjoy,” I say as they file past me eagerly. Our herd is grass fed, and they don’t need to be asked twice. The long, seedy grass and corn stalks I’m offering are like a recently freshened, all-you-can-eat buffet.

Let’s face it—the cows are easier to handle than any of my family members. They go where they’re needed, no questions asked. But my dog—Rexie—gives the cows a nice loud woof just to pretend he’s working hard.

After the cow parade, I close up the fence and turn the electricity on. After that, I spend forty-five minutes raking cow shit out of the lower farmyard in the dark.

It’s boring drudge work, and my mind starts to wander. And, fuck, it wanders right to Roderick Waites—the guy who climbed out of a blue Volkswagen and right back into my brain.

I wish I could say I haven’t thought about him since high school, but that would be a lie. And if I were a more spiritual person, I’d probably interpret Roderick’s reappearance in town as a sign. A wakeup call.

Nobody knows all the tangled things in my brain, but for a split second when I was a teenager, Roderick came close to learning one of my biggest secrets.

The first time I saw him on his knees in front of another guy, it was an accident.

It was autumn then, too. I’d been at a high school football game. It was chilly that night and, last second before leaving for the game, I’d grabbed my dad’s jacket from the hook by the door. After shoving my hands into the pockets while standing on the windy sidelines, I’d found a flask of whiskey. My father must have last worn the jacket when he was sitting out in the deer blind with his pals. Bonus

But, of course, I’d had to sneak around to find a place to take a taste.

Leaving the crowd and the game, I ducked inside the door to the school’s gym. Under the cover of the bleachers, I drew out my dad’s flask, and unscrewed the top. Just as I raised it to my lips, I froze at the sound of whispered voices. Whoever was speaking had entered the gym at the other end of the bleachers.

Their shadowy figures weren’t easily visible. But I guessed it was a couple looking for a little privacy for a make-out session. And since a couple sneaking off together wasn’t a threat to me, I stood my ground.

I took a swallow of my father’s hooch. My first sip wasn’t life-changing—it burned going down and made my eyes water—it’s what happened next that changed everything.

After screwing the lid on the flask and pocketing it, I ducked out of the gym and into the hallway. Feeling nosy, I walked toward the gym’s other entrance, noiseless in my Nikes. When I reached the door, I eased into a position that allowed me to spy on the couple I’d heard whispering to each other. They were silent now, and I wanted to know why.

When I saw who it was, I swear my heart almost stopped. A varsity soccer player—Jared Harvey—stood beneath the bleachers, bracing his hands on a tread overhead. Roderick Waites knelt in front of him, unzipping Jared’s jeans.

You can bet I didn’t even blink for the next five minutes…

Kara's Review

5 out of 5 stars

Roommate is a standalone by the talented Sarina Bowen. If you’ve read her True North series then you will recognize some of the characters! This is a sexy, m/m story full of heat, laughs, food and family. Roderick is back in Vermont after years away from his home town. After a bitter welcome from his family he’s living in his car, looking for a job and a place to live. He’s not ashamed of who he is, but he’s not going to make the same mistakes again. He’s out and proud, crazy talented in the kitchen and just nice and fun. Kieran Shipley has lived here all his life. He’s hiding secrets from himself and his family. He’s cranky, broody and needs to get out of his parents’ house. He’s only working part time at the Busy Bean for extra money while he decides whether to take the next step in following his dreams. When Roderick walks in looking for a job, Kieran can’t help but remember the last time he saw him. Years ago, with another man. He watched and knew then that he liked men, but he’s never acted on it. Now Roddy is here with his sexiness and his likable self and Kieran is having a hard time denying who he is. Especially when he offers Roddy a room in his new place. It starts with cooking lessons, leads to a hot AF kiss and then Kieran needs to decide what he wants. Roderick isn’t going back in the closet again. But he’s having a hard time staying away from the sexy farm boy. Will Kieran finally decide to be who he’s meant to be? Or will he lose the only man he’s ever had feelings for? Oh man! I loved this story! I had the pleasure of listening to the audio and it was fantastic! Teddy Hamilton and Stephen Dexter sound so delicious together! Teddy with his fun, up beat voice and smooth cadence. And Stephen with his growly voice and his passion. Overall, my ears were so happy and I loved every second of it! Looking forward to Sarina’s Vino & Veritas series inside the World of True North (Sarina’s world, but with other authors writing books!)

Kara's Review

5 out of 5 stars

Shielding Riley is the fifth book in the Delta Team Two series by Susan Stoker. I haven’t read the entire series, but I’m already addicted. This is Oz’s story. Oz and Riley are neighbors but don’t really know each other well. Riley finally got rid of her abusive boyfriend and Oz is happy about it. Even more so now that he’s just inherited his nephew and needs help. While Riley helps Oz, they get to know each other and their attraction grows. It’s all going great, Riley loves his friends and their women, but danger seems to be right around the corner. Oz and his team have to work together to save someone they love. I love Oz and Riley! This story was so full of fun, emotion, family and suspense. Looking forward to the next books in the series!

“You know it’s so damn sexy that you can do that,” Riley said.

“Do what?”

“Move around with me sitting on top of you as if it’s not difficult at all.”

Oz grinned. “It’s not difficult,” he told her. “You’re tiny compared to me, and you’re kinda like my ruck sack.”

Riley rolled her eyes. “Oh, yeah, just what every girl wants to hear.”

…When you awaken in the morning’s hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die. — Mary Elizabeth Fyre “I’m sorry for your loss.” I would rather be tortured for an eternity than hear those damn words from one more person, as if Claire, my dead fiance, was a cell phone or car keys. How about, I’m sorry your life is over. I’m sorry you want to die too. I’m sorry you see her in your dreams and wake up only to relive the nightmare. I’m supposed to be the strongest of them all. Ash Abandonato, ruler, assassin, made man, brother, friend–instead, I hurt everyone I touch in hopes that they’ll feel even a sliver of the pain that bears down on my shoulders. I didn’t lose. It was taken from me. And it’s all her fault, Annie Smith. I daydream about her death. And then I close my eyes, and I see her soft smile. I feel her touch, her kiss–it was a mistake what we did that night, but I can’t take it back, and now she’s under my father’s protection–my protection. My worst enemy. The woman I’m the most attracted to. I can’t decide if I want to strangle her or kiss her, and now that she’s stuck in my life, my only goal is to make her feel the same loss I do and destroy her in the process. I’ll trick her with my touch. Seduce her with my kiss. And in the end, when my enemy is at her most vulnerable–I’ll bring down an entire Empire and continue my reign as King. Bow down, I’ll say as I bring the Five Families to their knees. Blood in. Never out. Damned.

Sandra's Review

5 out of 5 stars

Destructive King is the third book in the Mafia Royals series by Rachel Van Dyken. You do not have to read Rachel’s Eagle Elite series to fall in love with the mafia. I have only read half myself, I will get to the first half one day. I do recommend starting the Mafia Royals series with Royal Bully though especially that one before reading this book. It’s a novella freebie! I can’t really get into the story without spoiling anything so…   I have had a special place in my heart for Ash since Royal Bully. I have slowly been falling for the asshole throughout the series. I get it Annie, I do.   Ash is lost. Annie is lonely. He was a king. She was an orphan. Claire was his fiancé while Annie was her best friend. Ash blames Annie for his love’s death and now he was her protector. He was both sinner and saint. He wanted to ruin her while keeping her safe. It’s was a mindfuck for sure. He had to the toe the line but one day he had to cross the line. Until then he was mean. The devil. She should be running like the scared bunny that she was months ago but now? She held her head up high and wanted to bring him to his knees.   I loved this book so fucking much. Annie is a badass under those pearls of hers. Ash is well, Ash. He was who he was and that’s why I love him. He knows who he is and owns it. Is Annie strong enough for The Family? The one that brought her in. The one with Scary Dad at the head of the table. The family full of bosses and cousins with guns, knives, fists who would kill to protect their own. Seriously, they are more than badass. They are epic.   Overall, it’s full of hate, wine, family, blood, laughter, fights, love, and twists. Damn, how I love the oh, fuck moments and RVD always delivers. Blood in, no out.   Quotes:   I’d never seen another person so full of rage, so full of uncontrollable sadness that you couldn’t help but feel it every time you were in their presence.   “Break any of my rules… and I will fucking destroy you.” How could a man so beautiful be so cruel? “I hate you,” I whispered. “Finally, something we can agree on.” He pulled back. “Now get the hell out of my car.”   “I think he’s trying to communicate,” Kartini whispered. “Quick, if he starts beating his chest, look away, or he’ll see it as a challenge to his dominance.” I flipped her off with both hands. “Look at the male homo sapien as he uses his fingers to communicate what his words cannot… interesting, very interesting.”

Kara's Review

5 out of 5 stars

Destructive King is the third book in the Mafia Royals series by the talented Rachel Van Dyken. This series is freaking fantastic! This is the second generation mafia. The kids of our beloved Eagle Elite OG’s. Soul mates. Family. Loyalty. Blood In. No Out. You don’t know who you can trust outside of the Family. This is Ash’s story. He lost the love of his life and he can’t seem to move on. Let go. He hates Annie, who he blames for his loss. But does he really hate her? Didn’t he notice her and not just not realize what was happening. She’s been gone for a year and now she’s back. She’s not the same wallflower who left. Her hair is different, her clothes are different and he can’t make her cry like he used to. He wants to be the one to protect her, but he can’t be nice to her. That’s too close to his real feelings. The ones he needs to bury. But he can’t stay away from her. He’s going to push and push until she gives in. But then what? Annie isn’t going to break over Ash again. She’s not the same girl she was. She needs the protection of the Abandonatos but she doesn’t need Ash. Right? Oh, so wrong! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time! Rachel is the Queen of Mafia and I can’t get enough of this second generation. Of course it’s always great to see Chase, Nixon, Phoenix, Dante and the OG’s again!
