Anastasia Bailey is a nobody. The queen of nothing. An outsider with the face of an angel and a body made for sin. The only chink in her armor is him, her boyfriend’s frat brother, the football player who hates her.

But when Anastasia’s life crashes down, River’s the one who sweeps in and picks up the pieces. Torn between loyalty, lies, and secrets, he battles the temptation to take everything from her when they make their revenge pact.

5 out of 5 stars

The Revenge Pact is the first book in the Kings of Football series. This series is going to be epic because all three books are by different authors! First up is Ilsa Madden-Mills with her enemies to lovers, sexy footballer with a heart of gold. Ilsa’s books always give me what I want! A sexy hero who’s more complex than you can ever imagine. A strong heroine who knows who she is. And humor, sexiness and friendship. River Tate is good looking, popular, kind, and caring and a heck of a football player. But he does not like Anastasia Bailey, his frat brother’s girlfriend. He can’t be near her. Won’t talk to her. But he can’t help but somehow always be close to her. There’s a bro code, but there’s also something else going on. He can’t tell her the real reason he can’t stand to be close to her. But when she needs him, he’s there for her. He’s just going to have to put it all aside and help her. He can do that, right? Ana doesn’t understand why River hates her. He’s always avoiding her, never looks at her and insists on calling her Anastasia. He’s the only one. And when he says it…it makes her melt. This is not good! But when things fall apart he’s the one who there’s to catch her. Is it possible there’s a reason he’s been such a jerk for the last year? Could the connection she feels with him be mutual? Could fate be at work here? A shared sunrise, a freaking hilarious scene with Fake River (one of my favorite scenes in a book EVER), and a love for the Outsiders showed River and Anastasia there was something sparking between them neither of them could deny anymore. I loved this story! So. Much! River and his sexiness and amazing words. Anastasia and her smarts and unique style. I could not get enough of them! Overall, I loved every word, every second, every thing. I laughed out loud, cried, smiled and laughed some more. I loved the secondary characters and I can’t wait to see more of them all!

Gingerly, I take a sip. “You say my name weird.”

He wipes at the crumbs on the table. “How’s that?”

“You linger over it, like you’re about to take its clothes off and fuck it.”

5 out of 5 stars

The Revenge Pact is the first book in the Kings of Football series by not one author, but three! First up is Ilsa’s book, telling the story of the frat boy, wide receiver, River Tate. A beautiful, tatted, bad boy with depth.

River hated her. She was always around. At the frat house with her boyfriend. Lit class. He tried to avoid her but she was always there. He hated her because he couldn’t have her. She was off-limits. She was in love with his frat brother and friend. It could never happen. He has to stay the course. Be an ass. Party. Study. Think about the future. She was nothing but a forbidden distraction. One he couldn’t stop thinking about and when he senses she is crashing, he should just walk away. He does. He does what he does…he is there.

Anastasia is loved by most. In the last year she has found her place in the world in a way. Then, she turns twenty-one and something changes. No, not the Sparks she avoids when stuck in an elevator with him. River. That has always been there but he hated her. Everyone at the frat house loved her but he avoided her like the plague. She didn’t get it. That was until one night changes everything. She knew he was more than a jock but he was beautiful in so many other ways. Friends. That’s all it could ever be, right?

I love River and Anastasia!! River is a beautiful soul in a hot AF body. Anastasia is a badass who will never change for anyone. Their connection is amazing, magical, and delicious. They just see each other in all the ways. I laughed. I cried. I swooned. I got hot and bothered. I got punchy. I was going to wait to read the next book but I can’t! I love these kings of football plus Benji and Spike.

P.S. I ♥️ Showers. I get it, River. I do the same thing.

Quotes:

“You say my name weird.” He wipes at the crumbs on the table.

“How’s that?”

“You linger over it, like you’re about to take its clothes off and fuck it.”

“Weed is truth serum for you.”

“You act all I’m a bad boy when you’re deflecting your emotions. You’re not fooling me. There’s depth to you.”

“You took me to the sunrise. I bring you the stars.”

THE RELATIONSHIP PACT by Adriana Locke Release Date: December 17th

Synopsis How hard can it be?

That was the question rolling around Larissa Mason’s mind just before she asked Hollis Hudson to be her fake boyfriend.

It was only supposed to be for five minutes, after all.

Granted, that was also before she felt his hand on the small of her back as he charmed the heck out of her family.

She hadn’t heard his laugh yet either.

And it was definitely before she saw the football god shirtless. Otherwise, she would’ve had an idea of just how hard some things could be.

It turns out that pretending to be in love with a crazily handsome, somewhat enigmatic, and absolutely unforgettable tight end (that has an amazing tight end) is easy.

Reminding herself that just because opposites attract doesn’t mean they’re forever is much harder.

What they have isn’t love—it’s a relationship pact. Right?

BLURB

Secrets, desires, and exquisite pie. It’s all in a day’s work at The Company.

Growing up, I was the rough guy from the wrong neighborhood who couldn’t catch a break. Posy was the pampered girl I tried to impress. But I managed to steal only a single kiss before I had to skip town.

Now I’m back, and the tables are turned. Posy runs a struggling pie shop. I’m the VP of a secretive billion dollar security company.

Not that I can tell her.

There’s a murderer on the loose in New York, and he seems to spend a lot of time at Posy’s shop. I can’t let on that I’m here to bring him down before he can harm a hair on her pretty head.

Going undercover as Posy’s new barista wasn’t my idea. I don’t even drink coffee. But now I have to call her “boss,” and do everything the curvy perfectionist asks of me. I’d forgotten how much we infuriate each other, and that she somehow fills me with both irritation and desire in the same breath.

There’s nobody more skilled at stealth ops than me. I can bring this killer down. Right after I take a cold shower. And just as soon as I figure out how to make a skinny peppermint latte with milk poured in the shape of a kitten…

5 out of 5 stars

Loverboy is the second book in The Company series by the fabulous Sarina Bowen. I have read so many of Sarina’s books and I love them all. Loverboy is a second chance romance that finds Gunnar Scott learning to be a barista to find a murder using Posey’s pie shop. They knew each other fifteen years ago and they flirted and shared one hot kiss and then never saw each other again. They each have a different memory of what happened and it didn’t leave the other in a good light. But now they are working together side by side, all day long and the lust is a thick as the pie. Posey can’t believe Gunnar is back and making coffee in her shop. She can’t stop staring at his well, everything. He’s still as sexy as he was fifteen years ago when they were bartending together. Her hormones are screaming for her to jump him, but her head says no way. Gunnar never forgot Posey. He hates New York, can’t stand coffee, but he needs to protect her even if he has to make animals and leaves with the cream. As it turns out, there’s more danger involved in his mission and now Posey might be harmed. He’s not going to let that happen. Posey wants to listen to her body for once and after one taste of Gunnar again, she wants it all. They can have fun while he’s working for her, right? Oh heck yeah! Gunnar is so sexy and funny and that killer smile does it every time. Will he realize he wants Posey for real before it’s too late? Oh man! These two were so funny and hot together! I loved all the innuendo and Gunnar’s smart mouth and I just wanted to drink all the coffee and eat all the pie! Can’t wait for Max’s story!

“Are you sure? Have you tested this theory? People say I’m pretty fun?”

“Which people?

“Well, female people.” I give her a hot smile. “Clothing optional.”

Rush McKenzie is a bad boy soccer player who’s running from a scandal. Lennox Kincade is an ex-beauty queen who’s trying to revamp her reputation. What starts as a bit of fun, ends with something they never saw coming.

Hard to Hold by K. Bromberg is now live!

New York Times bestselling author, K. Bromberg, is back with a heartfelt, standalone romance and a new hero to steal your heart . . . The contract with Major League Soccer was supposed to help repair my damaged reputation.

Then I discovered that I’d made a deal with the devil: the player I’m supposed to recruit is none other than the bad boy, star Premier League footballer, Rush McKenzie. British. Tattooed. Sexy. A man currently at the center of a huge scandal. The goal? To convince him to stay in the States. But what’s wrong with a little fun in the meantime? No strings. No sweet nothings. Just a way to pass the time while we’re both struggling to prove our true selves to the world. If someone found out our relationship was anything more than professional, it would only serve to prove all our critics right. *** I never should have agreed to take the fall. But I did and I’m a man of my word. Even if it means risking everything I’ve worked for. The only bright side is Lennox Kincade. Gorgeous. Defiant. Rumor-tainted. Totally off-limits. Sharing a house with the gorgeous sports agent should have been a fun distraction from the turmoil. Someone to help pass the time while the tensions back home die down. But what started as nothing, ends up as something I never saw coming.

Kara's Review

5 out of 5 stars

Hard to Hold is the second book in the Play Hard series by K. Bromberg. I’m a huge fan of Kristy’s and I’m loving this series so far. It’s a series of four sisters who run a sports agency. It can be read as a standalone, but if you read Hard to Handle then you met Lennox. She’s the second youngest. She was a beauty queen and she’s the sister who has to deal with fellow male agents comments, egos and all around jerkiness. She’s also restless. She needs to get away from her family and the comments and looks she’s been getting. There’s nothing better than LA, sun, surf and a good friend. Turns out she can also work while she’s there and take a short time job offer with the MLS. And she’ll be working with the sexy Rush Mackenzie, famous footballer from London who’s hiding out in the states. Coincidentally staying with her friend, Johnny. What are the odds? She’s there to relax and do a job, not get sexy with Rush. She’s trying to avoid ruining her reputation, but oh man, Rush is not making saying no easy.

It seems fate has put them together. He’s searching for love and family. She’s searching for a place in the world. They are just in the right place at the right time.

Meet Kristy

Release Day & Review- My Brother’s Roommate, Kendall Ryan

My Brother’s Roommate

By Kendall Ryan

Release Day: December 1, 2020

About the Book

There are a few things you should know about my brother’s roommate.

Wolfie Cox is . . . complicated. Terminally sexy, and more importantly, he has an impressive stick lodged so far up his ass, he’s about as emotionally available as a chinchilla. Actually, that might be an insult to the chinchilla community.

So, naturally, I want to ride him like a bicycle.

He thinks I hate him. Mostly because I’ve led him to believe this. It’s easier than admitting the alternative.

And while Wolfie is about as soft and cuddly as a fork, I’m the opposite. A good girl. Reliable. Conscientious. Oh, and completely panicked about an upcoming work conference.

Wolfie’s usually allergic to altruism, so when my brother volun-tells him to help me out by escorting me to said conference where everyone else will have a plus-one . . . I say thanks, but no thanks. Surprisingly, Wolfie is unflinching about this. And that’s the story about how I got stuck in a hotel with my brother’s hot (grouchy) roommate.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

In all seriousness, this isn’t a game to me, and hormones aside, I need to impress my boss this week so the promotion I’ve worked hard for doesn’t get handed to his spineless nephew. But with Wolfie and me sharing a hotel bed, things get confusing quickly.

Sandra's Review

5 out of 5 stars

My Brother’s Roommate is the second book in the Frisky Business series by Kendall Ryan. You can read each book as standalone but I recommend reading the previous book since it is awesome! Plus, it’s the start of the series full of lovable characters. If you did read The Boyfriend Effect then you have met Wolfie (Maren’s brother/Hayes’ friend and business partner/Connor’s roommate) and Penelope (Connor’s little sister).

Penelope has being working her ass off for a promotion at work and with a wilderness retreat coming up, it could help her get what she deserves. She doesn’t want to go alone but going with her brother is lame so Connor volunteers his roommate, Wolfie to go along with her. Sure, why not? The guy she has a crush on. The guy who isn’t emotionally available. The guy who thinks she  hates her. And why not tell her coworkers he is her boyfriend? That’s not awkward at all, right?

Wolfie has tried to avoid her and now there was no way of doing so. Not when they spend the weekend in the same bed. He just needed to keep his mask on. Smile. Don’t be an ass. Easy. Turns out the smiling isn’t that hard when he isn’t around her and that’s the problem. He doesn’t do feelings. He definitely has to shut it down with her. She is too good for him. Too complicated. Too broken. She deserves the world. Not a broken man with intimacy issues. Not like she wants a man like him anyway, right?

Oh, I knew this was going to be good but damn. It’s a slow-burn with lots of heat, emotions, and so laughs. I felt for both of them. It’s definitely more complicated than I thought it would be. I loved them together. I can’t wait for the next book, Connor is in for a wild ride.

Quotes:

Penelope makes me feel too many things. Most of them all at once.

Confused. Overwhelmed. Horny.

He may be kinda quiet and grumpy, but the man is hot as fuck.

“Tell me, Wolfie. I want to know what you’re thinking about when you’re quiet like that.”

Blog Tour, Review & Excerpt – Make Me Yours, Melanie Harlow

November 24, 2020 By

Make Me Yours, an all-new laugh out loud rom com from USA Today bestselling author Melanie Harlow is available now!

He’s my brother’s best friend.

The hot single dad next door.

And one accidental sext later, my massive crush on him is no longer a secret.

It’s my own damn fault. I’m thirty years old, for heaven’s sake. I’m a kindergarten teacher and a (reasonably) responsible adult. I should know better than to get tipsy and draft a fake text listing all the dirty things I wish Officer Cole Mitchell would do to me.

I wasn’t supposed to hit send.

He wasn’t supposed to see it.

And he definitely wasn’t supposed to text back telling me to go on . . .

Because after that, things escalate quickly.

Cole is everything I’ve ever wanted. He’s sexy and protective. A devoted father to his little girl. A dedicated cop the whole town adores. The kind of guy you can trust to keep his hands to himself, even when you’re desperately hoping he won’t.

I’m not the girl he thought he’d end up with, but after all this time, I might finally get the chance to say the words I’ve always dreamed of . . . make me yours.

Sandra's Review

5 out of 5 stars

Make Me Yours is the second novel in the Bellamy Creek series by Melanie Harlow. You can read it as standalone but I highly recommend reading Drive Me Crazy since it’s so freakin’ good, and where you meet Cole and Cheyenne. Get a glimpse into Cheyenne’s crush on the boy next door. Her brother’s best friend. The one she has known most of her life. The one she has crushed on since she was twelve years old. The one she has always wanted a forever with. The one who didn’t know it…

Cole needed to move. It was time to get his own place with his nine year old daughter, Mariah. They have lived with his mom since the day Cole brought Mariah home from the hospital. It was time for them to fly. That didn’t mean it was time for him to date like everyone in his life had been saying for years. His number one priority was his daughter. It wasn’t like he had time working long days as a police officer either. He had Mariah, his mom, and plenty of friends to make him happy. One of them though has been on his mind more lately and not in the most friendly of ways. Cheyenne was beautiful, sweet, loved his daughter fiercely but she was also his best friend’s sister. She was off-limits. It really didn’t help that she lived next door with her own mother. He was so screwed especially after a text she sends him on accident…

It was an accident. That is what Cheyenne says anyway but that one mistake starts something they both were holding back. Longing. Wanting. Everything. He had no idea she felt that way towards him but apparently everyone else did. Not what was he going to do about it? He knew Mariah adored her but that didn’t mean she was ready for her father to date someone, even if it was her. Was he even ready? Was the one truly just next door this whole time?

This two. I love them. Cheyenne is beautiful inside and out, sweet as pie, and knows what she wants. She knows what she deserves. It is also odd to read a book with your daughter’s name as the MC but I made it though. I also thought it was funny that Sandy from Grease was mentioned too. My uncle calls me Sandy Dee. Anyway, Cole…sweet, hot, stupid Cole. Lol. Kidding, I love him even in his stubborn ways. I feel for the guy. Together, I loved the banter, fun, and sexy times. Their connection is felt throughout the whole book. Then there is Mariah, she is adorable, smart, and all around awesome. I can’t wait for the next book! I love the friendships and families. I don’t know who is up next but I have a feeling and it’s going to be so good…

P.S. Make sure to get the bonus scene!

Quotes:

“So. How’s the belt?”

She sat up, and her eyes went wide. “Um, it’s big.”

I nearly grinned. “It’s what?”

Then she panicked, her cheeks turning scarlet. “I mean, it’s perfect. The belt. The belt is perfect. For your outfit.”

“Real love doesn’t fade. It only gets stronger.” “I love my dad the most out of anybody.”

Girl, same, I wanted to say. Instead I leaned down and kissed her forehead. “I know.”

“Okay, good. So here’s what you do. Find out what she’s drinking, order her another one, and then say something like, ‘It’s so crowded in here, maybe we—oh, fuck no.’”

“Huh?” I frowned at him. “You lost me there at the end.”

“This cannot be happening.”

“What?”

“It’s her.”

Excerpt

Darlene spoke up. “My mother passed them down to me, and I want to make sure they’re in good condition so I can leave them to Cheyenne when she gets married.” Then she crossed herself and closed her eyes, her lips moving in a quick, silent prayer.  Cheyenne ignored her mother and addressed Mariah again. “My brother and I always had to wash and dry the wedding china on holidays before we went to bed. It took forever.” “I’d stay and help you, sis, but I have to get Blair home. Sorry.” Griffin gave her a grin that said he wasn’t the least bit sorry, and Cheyenne stuck her tongue out at him.  “Cole, why don’t you stay and give Cheyenne a hand?” My mother suggested, wrapping her scarf around her neck.  “That’s a great idea,” Darlene said brightly. Then she sort of bent over and rubbed one hip, her expression agonized. “I’d help her myself but I’ve been on my feet a lot today and the doctor said that isn’t good for my joints.” “You should just get to bed, Darlene,”my mother said, shepherding Mariah toward the front door. “Cole will be more than happy to stay and help Cheyenne.” “Oh, that’s okay.” Cheyenne smiled at me and shook her head. “I can handle them.” But Darlene beamed at me, reaching over and snatching my coat out of my hands. “That’s so nice of you, Cole. I’ll just hang this in the front closet.” Before she left the room, she and my mother exchanged a look that had me wondering if the whole helping-with-the-dishes thing had been a set-up.  Either way, ten minutes later Cheyenne and I were pushing up our sleeves in the kitchen, the house dark and silent except for the running faucet and the hum of the dishwasher.  “I’ll wash, you dry?” she asked, adding dish soap to the side of the sink she’d plugged and lined with a towel.  “Sure.” She took a plate from the stack to her left and placed it in the warm soapy water. “Oh! I almost forgot.” Slipping her rings and bracelets off, she set them on the windowsill above the sink. “So I don’t scratch anything,” she explained.  “Oh.” I glanced down at my wedding ring. “It’s okay,” she said quickly. “You don’t have to take it off.” “It’s fine,” I said, working it off my finger and placing it on the sill next to her jewelry. For some reason, I felt compelled to explain why I still wore it all the time. “Mariah once told me she likes when I wear it, so  .  .  .” “I think it’s nice, ”she said. “I like a guy who wears his ring. It says something about him, you know?” I nodded, my attraction to her growing even stronger. “Still, we’d better be careful with these dishes.” “Damn right, we’d better,” she deadpanned. “This is my fucking wedding china, Cole. If we even look at it wrong, I might end up a spinster.” She laughed as she gently scrubbed the plate with a cloth. “My God. Is she not totally ridiculous?” “She’s pretty bad,” I agreed, taking the plate from her and carefully drying it with the soft clean towel she’d given me. “But mine wasn’t much better tonight. Did you have the feeling something was up between them as we were saying goodnight?” Yes,” she said. “And it’s probably my fault because I made the mistake of telling my mom you bought me dinner last night. In her mind, I believe we are now betrothed.” I laughed. “That’s all it takes, huh?” “Apparently. Tomorrow I’ll be pregnant because we washed dishes together after dark.” “Wow. Guess I should have worn the rubber gloves.”

Release Day & Review – Make Me Yours, Melanie Harlow

November 23, 2020 By

“What?”

“It’s her.”

Shattered Ice is the third book in the Fury series by Monty Jay. Each book can be read as standalone but I recommend reading the first two book since they are connected and awesome. I loved them but I fell hard for this one. I crave dark romance and it goes more towards that way than the previous books.

Malakai came to the United States from Russia when he was sixteen years old. He wasn’t a people person. He played hockey, and he was also an artist. He was a mystery to his teammates but they worked on the ice. He was quiet, controlled, and a clean freak. He didn’t smile or laugh but when he saw someone in pain, he was there. Pain was something he knew well. It was his muse. He was in control of his life until he sees her again. A girl from his past. A girl he never forgot. A girl who saw him in just a few moments years ago. And she happened to be his roommate/teammate’s twin sister. The same sister who needed a place to stay…

Charlotte knew the moment her life changed. It was on the streets of Chicago when she saw him. The few moments they had was life-altering even without exchanging names. She was only sixteen and he had to be at least twenty but it was in his eyes that done her in. He was a beautiful mystery. One she wanted to discover and now, years later she had her chance. It was unexpected but knew it was worth the wait. She tried with others but nobody compared to him. He might not want her touch for his own reasons but she wanted his. She knew their connection was more than attraction. It was fate.

Omg! These two. I love them! She is a badass and full of life. He is beautiful and broken. I could just picture them the whole time. It was like reading a movie. Malaki tugged on my heart strings from the beginning. I wanted him to discover love. Real love. Real touch. Charlotte was a mess from the beginning to end and she owned it. I loved it. Together, they are poetic. They saw each other. The real them and it was beautiful. It is not easy though.

Overall…it’s emotional ride. I was hooked from start to finish. I laughed. I cried. I got angry. I cried some more. I swooned. I got hot and bothered. I can’t wait for the next book! Oh, it’s going to get me, I know it.

Quotes:

“Messenger of God? Really, Charlotte? Could you be any more of a freaking loser, who even wants to know that?” I mumble.

“Is the invitation still open or have you filled my spot with your other personality?”

Malakai was a storm. A raging hurricane, a monumental wave of mystery and trouble. A thunderstorm of intelligence and darkness.

I felt like a world-touring violinist when he watched me. He looked at me like there was something worth looking at.

Kara's Review

5 out of 5 stars

Shattered Ice is the third book in the Fury series by Monty Jay. This series is fantastic! Filled with emotion, laughs, sexiness and friendship. We’ve known Kai for a while and he’s been mysterious bordering on ice cold. But I knew there was something behind his eyes and in his heart that was worth looking deeper to find. Turns out the key is his teammate’s twin sister. He met Charlotte years ago before he was a well known hockey player and they had a spark. She never thought she’d see him again and then another chance meeting proves it wasn’t a fluke the first time she met him. They have a connection. Undeniable chemistry which Malakai is trying to deny. Now they are living under the same roof and Kai isn’t strong enough to stay away from her. She makes him want to change. To be better. To finally overcome his past. Charlotte doesn’t know what he’s hiding, but she wants to be there for him. He’s going to put up a fight, but she has to decide if he’s actually worth fighting for. Malakai and Charlotte’s story is so full of emotion! One minute I was laughing, then I was crying, then I was gasping for air. I loved the dynamic between Charlotte and Kai so much! I think this might be my favorite of the series!

You can do whatever you want, Charlotte. It’s your world, babe. I’m just lucky to live in it.”

Sandra's Review

5 out of 5 stars

Little Lies is a standalone by Helena Hunting writing as H. Hunting. I have been wanting to read Helena for awhile now but I don’t want to start in the middle of a series. When I saw the cover to this book and the synopsis, I needed it. I crave books that are darker, even gray. I am so hoping this is just the start to a series. I am hooked.

Kodiak and Lavender have known each other their whole lives. He is Lavender’s brother’s best friend and over the years he was hers too. They just get each other. Understand one another. It was love before they even knew the meaning. He protected her. She saw him. They were everything to each other until they couldn’t be and now seven years later, they are in the same town. On the same street even and he is being a total asshole.

Lavender was ready. New college. New house. She was living with two of her older brothers. One who loves to embarrass her. The other who is overprotective. It wasn’t going to be easy but she was ready to work through her anxieties to live the college life. Even if that might seeing him. Kody to others. Kodiak to her. He was once her everything and now he acted like she meant nothing to her. Just an annoyance. Well, if he wanted to be an asshole, then she was going to badass, and not take his shit. She was over it. He thinks she hasn’t changed, just wait till she pushes back.

Their relationship has always been complicated and simple at the same time. Maybe with them being in close range they can finally get their shit together once and for all. Can they forget about their past so they can move on in the present?

Omfg!! I loved this book. It was addicting from the very start. The angst. The tension. The fun. The rawness. It also brings in anxiety and OCD which was well represented in my opinion. I have anxiety. My daughter has Tourette’s, anxiety and OCD so I get it. I truly do. Anyway, I loved all the characters. Well, maybe not all. I wanted to throat punch one. For real, I laughed. I cried. I swooned. My heart raced. I was all over the place and I loved it. I can’t wait to see what is next! I have some ideas so I am excited to see if I am right.

Quotes:

I hate that Kodiak, who used to be the answer to calming my attacks, now incites them. I hate that he affects me at all, and that I don’t affect him.

Lavender has never been particularly coordinated. She could fall over an idea. Drunk Lavender is a damn mess.

“I don’t need to be saved anymore, Kodiak. I slay my own dragons now.”

Kara's Review

Little Lies is the first book by H. Hunting, Helena Hunting’s alter ego. I discovered Helena a bit late, but made it up by going back and listening to the entire Pucked series and then making sure I got my hands on everything from then on. I’m used to the laugh out loud to the point of snorting moments from Helena and although, we do get those moments in Little Lies, I wasn’t prepared for the heart wrenching sadness and longing I also experienced. It’s hard to put into words how elated I felt when I heard we were getting the second generation from the Pucked and All In series’. I have a deep love for many of these characters and over the years have fallen for their small little kids. Now the kids are mostly all grown up and we get to see the bonds they formed with each other. The cousins, the friends, the siblings. I’m not even sure this review will do the book justice. But the one thing I will say is after every chapter I literally said out loud “This book is SO good.” Whether I was laughing or sobbing. I feel like I cried more than I normally do while reading and I think it was the combination of the subject matter, the anxiety, miscommunication and lies, and me knowing and loving their parents so much. I already felt connected to these characters before I even opened the book. The second generation starts with Kodiak (Lainey and Rook’s son), and Lavender(Alex and Violet’s daughter). They formed a strong bond when they were just kids. Both suffering from anxiety where just being with the other person was a balm to their soul. Until it became a crutch for them both and their parents decided it was no longer healthy. She tells us the story with flashbacks to how it all started and what transpired throughout their lives up to this point. Now they are older, Kodiak is twenty-one and Lavender, nineteen, and they are living within walking distance of each other. Lavender worked really hard to get over her anxiety, learned how to deal with it and become a strong, independent young woman. Kodiak has never forgiven himself for the lies he told her a few years ago and he can’t help himself by continuing to push her away. Lavender’s heart was broken, but she never got over Kodiak. After all the hurt, lies and pain, he wants her back in his life. She isn’t going to make it easy. Oh man, she is going to make it oh so hard for him! But once they come together again, their souls can finally breathe again. While they are trying to figure it all out, we get to know Lavender’s brothers, Maverick and River, their cousin BJ (Dude, Randy’s son, Balls Jr.), Miller and Sunny’s twin daughter’s Lacey and Lovey, and Quinn, Lance and Poppy’s son. I went from snorting laughing to sobbing in tears. Lavender and Kodiak’s story was more than I ever hoped for and one that will stay with me for a long, long time. It’s 6 Hearts from me! I hope we don’t have to wait too long to see who’s up next!

“I know. I’m so tired of trying to make you hate me. I just want to love you again, but better this time.”
