True love never dies.

Megan and Cassidy were childhood sweethearts who thought they would be together forever. Fate had other plans. Soon after they were married, Cass’s life was tragically cut short. Still grieving her soul mate five years later, Megan moves to the small town of Seaside, Oregon, hoping to rebuild her life.

Her first night there, she meets the town recluse, Theo. Withdrawn, guarded, and mysteriously silent since a terrible accident left him scarred, Theo takes an instant and inexplicable dislike to Megan. But as their paths cross again and again, Megan becomes convinced there’s more to Theo than meets the eye.

When she discovers the reason for his silence, his nightmares, and especially his pointed dislike, Megan becomes convinced of something far more astonishing.

Is a second chance at a once-in-a-lifetime love possible, or is a broken heart the cruelest kind of liar?

Midnight Valentine is a standalone novel like no other. I have read the last few books by J.T and I loved them so much that I didn’t even read the synopsis for this one. I do that. I know I want to read the book so it’s not needed. Well…this one was completely different than the others and it was fan-fucking-tastic! I knew it was going to be good but damn.
Megan leaves her job as an accountant to pursue her and her late husband’s dream of running a B&B in Seaside, Oregon. They had their eye on an old inn and as fate would have it, it was still for sale five years after his death. Going from living in the desert in Phoenix to living in a small town in Oregon would be a big change but she had to do it. It might be exactly what she needs. To fix herself while repairing a rundown in. She knew it wouldn’t be easy but she had no idea it would be this confusing…
Of course the best contractor in the area had to be the moody man in a raincoat that looked at her like she was the devil during her first meal in town. She didn’t want to work with him. He confused her. He was a puzzle she didn’t want to solve but felt like she needed to. Apparently she wasn’t the only crazy in town. Not crazy but people were concerned. She talked to ghosts. He didn’t talk at all. They were two souls that didn’t match up in many ways but did in others. Will they believe to work together on this huge project without getting each other’s space or will they end up no space in between at all?
I don’t want to spoil the story so that all I can say about the storyline. I will say that I loved the characters. Theo is mysterious, sexy, protective, funny, and sweet. There is a lot of sides to this moody man. Megan is stronger than she believes, beautiful, snarky, smart, and has the best t-shirts. Together, their connection is complex, crazy beautiful, and fun. Then there is the supporting characters. Suzanne is something else. I love her. Coop is adorable and sexy in his own way. I hope to see these characters again but if not, I am glad to have known them.
Overall…it’s unique, emotional, sexy, and fun ride that I will never forget. It gave me all the feels and more!
“Oh, for God’s sake, Theo, cut me a break, will you? I suck at charades.”
“Sunshine. Do you recall our little chat about the mood monster? Because he’s making a reappearance.”
I’m Alice, only this isn’t Wonderland.
This is Crazyville, and I’ve just elected myself mayor.
