The Ribbon Duet Book 2
Publication Date: June 5th, 2018
Genre: Coming of Age Romance

ebook (1)

“What do you do when you write down all your secrets? No…that’s not enough. What do you do when you write down all your secrets and the one person who should never read them does?

I’ll tell you what you do.

You hope.”

Ren didn’t know the meaning of love until he took Della for his own.

To begin with he hated her, but as the months bled into years, he learned the opposite of hate, dedicating his life to giving her everything.

Every sacrifice, every gift, he gave wholeheartedly.

But then love turned to lust and ruined everything.

I was stupid to write my secrets down, but I’d been stupid before so it was nothing new.

I couldn’t blame him, hate him, fix him.

I tried to move on without him.

But no matter what I did, I couldn’t seem to delete the secrets I’d written.

Until something happened.

Until he came back and read my stupid secrets.

And nothing was the same after that.

Sandra's Review

The Girl and Her Ren is the second book in the Ribbon Duet. It is NOT a standalone. I actually recommend that if you haven’t read The Boy and His Ribbon that one, you do that now. And two, I would stop reading this review. I am going to make it as spoiler-free as possible but still. My emotions will most likely get the best of me. Especially after this book.
Ren and Della have spent years together. Most of their lives have been entwined together. He raised her. She idolized him. It was pure and innocent love until one kiss changed it all. It was unexpected. Wrong. And it made Ren second guess everything. He felt guilty. He shouldn’t feel anything for Della except for brotherly love. He needed to face the truth. That their love has grown along with them. But she is his Little Ribbon. How could she be anything else? He had to do some soul-searching and she needed to let him. Can she give him time to figure out his feelings? Guilt. Lust. Love. Anger. Loss.
So, I can’t really say anymore than that about the story but I can talk about my feelings about this book. You guys, if I could give this book ten stars I would. This is one of the most beautiful, heartbreaking, epic stories I have ever read. Ever. And I read a lot. I finished this book hours ago and while I type this out I am crying! I can usually just write a review and move on to the next book. I do have time tonight to do just that but I can’t. I am not ready to move on. I wasn’t sure how I felt about these two having a love story, it’s not the usual kind but the way Pepper writes it, it’s everything and more.
Overall…it’s an epic journey about love, family, life, the simple things, the all consuming ones too. This is a story that I will never forget. I will forever remember Ren and his Ribbon. Two survivors who believed in each other. Two people who made sacrifices for the ones they loved. Two of the most beautiful and simple creatures who loved nature and found a home in the wild. Two characters who gave me one epic book hangover.
P.S. Thank you, Pepper for giving us their story!
True love was a vicious monster, feeding on my reserves, breaking me beneath its resolve to either kill me if I didn’t obey or destroy me if I did.
“I’ve been many things, Della, but I can’t say I’ve been a cat.”
“I think we need to get you back into the forest. The city is infecting you with retail therapy and commercial advertisement.”

Release Blitz (3)

The fallen papers crunched beneath my boot as I shifted my weight, leaning into her, seeking an answer. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

She flinched, her eyes closing beneath an avalanche of pain.

This hurt.

Everything hurt.

“Della…please.” My calloused thumbs caressed her silky-soft skin, catching on her young perfection with my older imperfection.

Ten years separated us.

Ten years was an eternity when she was a babe and I was a boy, but now…it no longer held such power. I refused to let it because I didn’t know what I’d do if I couldn’t touch her the way I was touching her now.

She laughed quietly, full of torture and tragedy. “I did tell you. In a roundabout way.”

“You didn’t.”

“But I did.” She dared meet my eyes. “I never understood how I could touch you, hug you, kiss you, and you never knew. I didn’t know how I could hide my jealousy when you were with Cassie or later with your one-night stands. I lay awake at night analysing every sentence I said to you, amazed that you never heard what I’d been shouting for longer than I could remember.”
