Courage for Fools is Monty Jay’s first complete standalone novels. Her Fury series can be read as standalone novels but they are connected. I love that series but happy she is showing us another side of her writing too!
Quinn is a twenty-two year old bartender who has never been out of her small hometown in Virginia. She grew up hearing stories of the open road and she had big dreams of getting out seeing the world. All she needed was a kick in the ass with with a realization. So, she quits her job, gets out her scrapbook and makes a plan. Two weeks of finding herself on Route 66. She was excited and nervous all at the same time. It was her last night in town and he walks into her bar. A man who doesn’t fit with the town. She knew then that he was going to be a part of her life. She didn’t even feel like she belong there either.
Rhett needed to find his music. He passion for performing his own music. He was tired of the higher-ups telling him what he could and couldn’t sing. His band was on top but all he wanted was the music that spoke to people not what was outplayed on the radio. So, he drove then broke down in a town he never heard of. Walked into a bar and saw her. A woman with indigo eyes, beauty that took his breath away, and a good heart. Turns out she was hitting the road and he wanted to tag along on her adventure. She wasn’t happy about it but his charm wins her over.
I ♥️ Rhett and Quinn!! I could feel their connection from the beginning. I loved how he made her feel. Showed her what he saw in her. And it was the other away around as well. Two unlikely souls finding each other in the middle of nowhere. An adventure I so want to go on!! Rhett is so swoon worthy with his shameless flirting, humor, sweetness, and owning his hopeless romantic side. Quinn is a shy little badass who I loved seeing open up. Together, they are everything.
P.S. Did I mention Rhett is Irish? Yum!!
Quotes:
This was the moment I’d been waiting my entire life for. This was what love songs were written about, moments like these. I wasn’t going to let it pass me by.
“You taste like rock and roll feels, Quinn. Fucking obsessive.”
“I feel like a stranger everywhere. Except right here.”
