For fans of Christina Lauren and Lauren Layne comes a delightfully sassy and sexy romance about a campaign manager who reluctantly works with the local Lothario to help revamp his image for the upcoming mayoral elections, only to discover that he’s hiding something that can turn both their lives upside down.

What’s a campaign manager’s worst nightmare? A smooth-talking charmer who’s never met a scandal that he didn’t like.

When Emmanuelle Peroni’s father—and mayor of her town—asks her to help rehab Cooper Endicott’s image, she’s horrified. Cooper drives her crazy in every way possible. But he’s also her father’s protégé, and she can’t say no to him without him finding out the reason why: Cooper and her have a messy past. So Emmanuelle reluctantly launches her father’s grand plan to get this Casanova someone to settle down with and help him lose his lothario reputation.

Cooper Endicott wanted to run for Mayor, but he never wanted the drama that went with it. Now that he’s on the political hamster wheel, the other candidates are digging up everything from his past. Even though he’s doing all the right things, his colorful love life is the sticking point for many of the conservative voters. He wants to win, badly, and he knows that if he wants any chance of getting a vote from the female population, he needs to change his image. The only problem? He might just be falling in love with the one person he promised not to pursue: the Mayor’s off-limits daughter.

A perfect blend of humor and heart, On the Corner of Love and Hate is the first in a new series from USA TODAY bestselling author Nina Bocci.

5 out of 5 stars

On the Corner of Love and Hate is the first book in the Hopeless Romantics series by the talented Nina Bocci. I love Nina’s writing. It’s fresh, funny, smart and witty. There’s nothing I love more than friend’s who have a history and years later they need to figure out where their future is going to take them. This is friends to lovers, frenemies to lovers and a little second chance. You can feel the tension between Emma and Cooper from the first page and I loved the longing, innuendo and zip that followed them all the way to the end. They have been friends for most of their loves, worked together for years and they never seemed to get over their past. Now that Cooper is running for Mayor, as Emma’s father is leaving it behind, Emma is called in to help with the campaign. Cooper is a ladies man and doesn’t have the greatest reputation, but the people in town love him. Emma is tasked with showing them he’s more than a pretty face and the governor’s son. While doing that, she gets to see sides to Cooper that she never knew he had. He’s not as aloof and confident as he shows the world and her resolve is cracking. What happens when they act on their feelings? Will the campaign suffer or just their hearts? I loved this story! It has relatable characters, hilarious friends and family. And of course, the Italians, my favorite! Overall, I loved it. I laughed, teared up, swooned, cheered, got mad and smiled. The perfect romance.

Sandra's Review

4.5 out of 5 stars

On the Corner of Love and Hate is the first book in the Hopeless Romantics series by Nina Bocci. I read her first book, Roman Crazy back in 2016 and was excited when she announced she was releasing a series! I don’t want to spoil anything and the synopsis explains a lot so I will make this fast.
Cooper and Emma have been friends since they were in diapers. Their friendship has gone through some ups and downs throughout the years. Working together in the same office since after college has had the same results. They are friends but she always wants to slap him. Even more so now that he was running for Mayor. His focus is on that and not his day job which she gets but it doesn’t make it less frustrating. Especially when he says he has a meeting when he really means a date. He needed to get his act together and somehow she was roped in to helping him keep him from a sex scandal before he is even elected. She knew he was the right man for Hope Lake. He just needs to listen to her. Can he keep it in his pants long enough to get elected?
Cooper and Emma seriously act like an old married couple. Everyone sees it. And everyone thinks they would make the perfect pair. Except, he is too much of a Manwhore and she is too much of a planner. But, what will happen when they are forced to really look at themselves and each other?
I enjoyed their story. It was a bit slower than I like but the end result was wonderful. I do love a good enemies to lovers romance. The banter is dynamite. Ready to explode.
Overall…it’s a great start to a new series. I did fall for the characters even if they frustrated me. I also fell for the town and the secondary characters. I am excited for their stories.
Thankfully, he wasn’t shirtless, instead wearing a thin white T-shirt that looked a few sizes too small. “Baby Gap have a sale?” I quipped, side-eyeing the way the sleeve gripped his biceps.
“You got this, Cooper,” I said gently, brushing a piece of fuzz from his shoulder. “Be yourself. The kids will react to that, since you have about the same maturity level as they do.”
“Hardy har har,” he mumbled.
“That promise of yours didn’t last very long.”
“Oh, I think we both have an idea of how long I can last, Emma.”
“Jesus, Cooper, can’t you curb the innuendo for a minute!”
