Oakley Spurlock is dying.
She only has weeks to live thanks to a freak infection that totally and completely destroyed her kidneys.
Despite her family’s desperation, not a single one of them is a match.
In a last-ditch attempt, Oakley’s father takes to social media to bed for help to save his daughter’s life.
Pace Vineyard is lost. So lost, in fact, that he’s not sure he wasnts to be found.
But then a beautiful woman’s face is splashed across social media, and Pace finds a spark in his soul for the first time since a bomb went off beside him.
He’s already missing two legs. What’s one more kidney?
At least, that’s what he tells himself.
What he doesn’t expect is to give his heart to the woman, too. Or for the woman to run away with it and force him to follow.

I’d Rather Not is the third book in the KDP Motorcycle Patrol series by the talented Lani Lynn Vale. I think I have a Lani Lynn Vale addiction. I can’t get enough of her books and especially this series. There’s just something about these men that gets me fired up! They are all different, but they do have things in common. And the uniform? Oh my, please and thank you! All the books in the series so far run along the same timeline. So, we’ve met Pace before but didn’t learn much about him. And now we get to know it all and I’m in love with him. He’s a hero in more ways than one. He sacrificed himself for his country and lost his legs and now he’s giving a piece of himself away to a stranger. She’s not a perfect stranger as she’s the sister to one of the men he served with. Since the first time he saw Oakely’s picture he was drawn to her. Now he finds out, years later, that she is going to die if she doesn’t get a kidney. Turns out Pace is a match. He shows up in all his sexiness and Oakley is thrown by the kindness of the handsome stranger. Her brother is shocked but in a good way and her family is forever in his debt. They have an instant connection that goes beyond what he’s doing for her. It’s chemistry, but it’s so much more. They have a bond that starts out as fun and friendly, but after spending time together it quickly becomes something else. Pace knew he would fall for her fast. What’s not to love? He didn’t expect she’d feel the same, but he’s never been happier in his life. He never had a loving family and now he has Oakley’s. He has a job he likes, and the love of a good woman. But he also has to deal with his old boss and his past keeps coming back to find him. Together Pace and Oakley prove it doesn’t matter how long you know someone, when you know you just know. You don’t take time or life for granted and you just love. Period. I love her parents and her brother (Hello SWAT). I love the way Pace loves her. He’s not afraid. He’s all in. Oakley is strong and fierce and she’s not going to give up living. Together they are the perfect match!

“He’s so beautiful. I can’t believe we get to keep him.”

Was she talking about me?

“Yeah, she’s talking about you.”

When he came strolling out of my bathroom ten minutes later in his new uniform, my eyeballs nearly rolled into the back of my head in a near instantaneous orgasm.

“Holy shit.”

“Oakley Spurlock, are you checking out my ass?”

“I was. But in my defense, it looks really, really good in the pants.”

“I really like Pace. So if you do date him, make sure you don’t piss him off. I’d like to keep him in my life.”
