BLURB

Finding a good roommate through a classified ad isn’t as easy as it sounds.

I was starting to lose hope.
Until a knock at my door came and God answered my prayers.
Except…uh…wrong prayer, God.
I’d definitely requested the big guy find me a drop-dead gorgeous man on more than one occasion…just not as my roommate.
Declan Tate talked me into interviewing him anyway.
While he was amusing and charismatic, I wouldn’t have been comfortable living with a man, so I regretfully declined.
Then cupcakes showed up at my door—freshly baked by Declan and just as sinfully delicious as he was.
You could say he was persistent.
I eventually folded. It wasn’t like I had another viable candidate anyway.
Plus, I was interested in someone else. And Declan was into another woman. So it wasn’t like anything would happen romantically.
After he moved in, the two of us became the best of friends. We even started to give each other advice on getting our crushes to notice us.
Eventually, Declan concocted an idea: we should pretend to be a couple to make our love interests jealous.
I was hesitant, but went along with it anyway. To my utter shock, his crazy plan worked.
Now I was dating the supposed man of my dreams, and my best friend had the woman of his.
But there was one problem.
I couldn’t stop thinking about Declan.
Those feelings we were trying to fake?
Yeah…I wasn’t pretending anymore.

Not Pretending Anymore is Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward’s next standalone. I have read all of their co-written books and have loved every single one of them. They are definitely unique in their own ways. Yes, we have read roommates to lovers, fake relationships, and friends to lovers but this one has a twist to it.
Molly needed a roommate and fast. She was shit out of luck until he walked in. Declan Tate. She didn’t want a male roommate but he made a good case plus his cupcakes were unbelievably good. He also made her laugh and would be gone most of the time since they worked different schedules. What she didn’t expect was to like him so much. They quickly become friends and come up with a plan to get their crushes to notice them. Their relationship was perfect. He cooked. She ate. They could really talk and not worry about wanting the other until…
Yep! You know it. Feelings. Those pesky things get them both all mixed up. I can’t really go into it anymore but I will say that I wanted to slap both of them a few times. Lol. I was definitely hooked and invested in their relationship. They made me laugh, get frustrated, cry, and laugh some more. They also made me want to make breakfast for dinner.
Quotes:
“It’s okay to admit you like my cooking, you know.”
Molly shook her head. “From the short time I’ve known you, I’m positive you don’t need anyone stroking your ego and making it bigger.”
“You’re right. I got something better than my ego that grows when you stroke it.” I winked.
“That was definitely special. It wasn’t me—it was us.”
“Did you believe the green ones made you horny?” he said in greeting, rather than hello.
I chuckled. “No, but I do think Twinkies will outlast the apocalypse.”

Not Pretending Anymore is the newest romance from Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland. It’s a roommates to lovers with a very slow burn. Molly and Declan are roommates but are interested in other people so it seems it’s going to work out! After a few awkward encounters and a lot of miscommunication, they finally realize they want each other. The writing is wonderful, as always! The back and forth was frustrating but worth it in the end!
