in Paris …
He was the
tantalizing smile and laughing eyes.
He was the
devil inviting me to sin,
seducing me to
dance in the bright moonlight.
He was desire
When he touched
me, my body sang–
my soul came
But I belonged
to another man,
and he didn’t
want to let me go.
Love Me in the Dark is a forbidden romance by one of the queens of them. Mia Asher is is a brilliant and poetic writer that takes her time writing a book and it’s definitely always worth the wait.
Valentina needs time to find herself again. To decide if her life over the last twelve years is really what she wants for the rest of her life. To be William’s wife. To live her life surrounded in black and white. To be with a husband that has taken care of her. That has for the most part been the perfect husband. But she misses color. Passion. And being happy without faking it. And when she meets a stranger in Paris she sees the color shine through, it’s life-altering. She knows this man can cause her to sin. She craves it even but can she betray her husband even if Sébastien makes her feel alive?
I loved everything about this book. The characters. The writing. The story. The backdrop. It is not just a romance. It’s Valentina’s journey to find herself. She loves William but a year ago things changed between them. They both feel it. That is why she needs this time. To dig deep and really figure out who she truly is. She also needs to look at all of William’s sides. Even the ones he hides behind. And then Sébastien comes into her life and it while it complicates things, she would never change it. Will he just be a dream or her future reality?
If I didn’t have such a crazy busy weekend, I would have read this novel in one sitting. It’s addictive, sexy, fun, and beautiful. The way Mia writes is mesmerizing. I hated it when I had to put the book down. But then when I picked up it, I was quickly back in Paris with Valentina. And Sébastien. Oh Sébastien…he is one filthy flirt with a sweet side. He has his own internal storm brewing and it was beautiful seeing him open up. But, he also knows that it could all be over just as quickly as it started when it comes to Valentina.
Overall…it’s amazing story about love, loss, discovery, and fate.
P.S. I love the name he gives her. And that accent. Yum.
Love is cruel for it makes one weak.
“I realized, maybe for the first time, what it feels like to want, to need something you cannot have.”
I wanted to taste her like a fine wine, touch her like a sin.

I’m a writer, a hopeless romantic, a wanderer, a dreamer, a cynic, and a believer. And, I might be a bit crazy – but who isn’t?I believe in happy endings however I know that not everyone is lucky enough to get one, but such is life. I think fine lines exist to be pushed and possibly crossed.
