Tacker (Arizona Vengeance, Book #5)
Sawyer Bennett
Release Date: November 5, 2019

I am not okay.

Fifteen months ago, my life was turned upside down when the plane I was piloting went down. Injured and trapped in the wreckage, I had to watch my fiancée die a painfully slow death, which is something that can really mess with your head.

Since that day, I’ve had little desire to do much of anything. Except play hockey, that is. Because that is the one place where the bad memories are banished and I can escape my pain.

But off the ice, I’m spiraling out of control. Losing the grip on my life and putting myself and my career in danger. Now, thanks to a string of bad decisions, I’ve been ordered to complete therapy in order to stay on the team.

The problem? Nora Wayne, my beautiful and somewhat unconventional therapist. I can’t buy into the brand of happy clappy crap this woman is feeding me. What could she possibly understand about the type of loss that I’ve suffered? How does she know anything about finding happiness after losing the most important person in your life?

Turns out, I’ve got a lot to learn, and she’s just the person I need to break through those walls I’ve erected.

I am not okay.
But for the first time in a long time, I know that I will be.

5 out of 5 stars

Tacker is the fifth book in the Arizona Vengeance series by Sawyer Bennett. It can be read as standalone but I do recommend reading the series since it’s sexy and fun. It will also make you fell in love with Tacker even more. I have been waiting for his story for what seems like forever and let me tell you…it was so worth the fucking wait.
Tacker was happy. He was going to be getting married in two short weeks. His life was everything he wanted until it all changed. A plane crash that he would never forget. One he was piloting. One that took his fiancée. And for the next fifteen months he was lost, angry, and was stuck in the darkness. Until he met her…
Nora ran Shërim Ranch and her schedule was packed but when the owner of the Arizona Vengeance calls and needs your help…you listen. And that was why he was here. Tacker. Nora didn’t know anything about him except he had to complete therapy to stay on the team and Dominik, the team owner thought she would be a perfect fit. She was up for the challenge after speaking to Tacker for just a few minutes. She felt his anger. Not towards her but towards himself. She wanted to help this broken man and she even felt a connection to him. One she couldn’t explore.
Tacker and Nora had battles to conquer. Together. Tacker didn’t think this hippie-dippie woman with her sunshines and rainbows would be able to fight with him but she was bringing him out of the darkness. She was determined to show him the light. That he could be happy. That life was worth living. That he was worth it. One day at a time.
Wow! I loved this one. It might even be my favorite of the series. I felt for Tacker from the moment I found out why he wasn’t like the rest of the team. He didn’t socialize. He was angry and he has every right to be. And to see him open up in this book? Amazing. I loved every minute of his emotional ride. And Nora…I love her!! She is beautiful inside and out. I loved their banter, heat, and determination.
“We’re fun to hang out with.”
Sadly, I have to admit it’s true. “Only because you ladies know hockey and other sports and didn’t discuss PMS or the Kardashians.”
Airily, Brooke waves her wineglass. “We’d already covered those subjects before you got here.”
“We should dance.” I blink, sure I misunderstood him.
“Dance?” “Yeah… dance,” he repeats. “I’ve fucking evolved.”
5 out of 5 stars

Tacker is the fifth book in the Arizona Vengeance series. sa is one of my go-to-authors for everything, especially hockey. I’ve read every one of her books and she still amazes me every time. Tacker has suffered a hug loss. He’s so caught in is own grief he’s been spiraling out of control and he let down his team. But they are more than a team, they are family and he has a chance to make it up to them. Go to therapy. Nora knows the only way to help Tacker is to open up about her own life. Sharing her past and her grief. The bond that forms takes them both by surprise. Once Tacker realizes talking about MJ and the accident is actually healing, he can’t stop the lightness that finds him. Sometimes facing your pain opens up your chances of finally finding happiness. It’s not easy, but it’s necessary to move on especially when you find the person meant for you. I loved this story! Yes, it was emotional and very sad. But it was also healing! Watching Tacker finally talk, listen and let go made me so happy. I’ve been invested in Tacker and his story since the very beginning and my heart it happy and full now!

“She turned on a fucking light in my dark room. She’s the one who flipped the switch.”

She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great work-out, cake, or even better, both.

Sawyer also writes general and women’s fiction under the pen name S. Bennett and sweet romance under the name Juliette Poe.
