When We Fall is the first book in the Rocky Falls series by Olivia Rose. It is also her first book under this pen name. It was previously released under Sloane Murphy. Either way, it’s my first book by this author.
Erin needs to just get through her last year of high school. The last three years have been hard on her. She is bullied by the mean girls and nobody seems to notice, care, or stand up for her. Over the years she has been trying her best to be invisible. Then, he walks in. Mason Knight. The new kid. The mysterious, hot, and intriguing new kid. One that everyone notices and wants a piece of. Except he only seems to want to be friends with her. Which is both good and bad. It makes the bullies see her even more. But it also makes her be seen by a man who makes her feel safe, loved, and desired.
That’s all I am really going to say about that. I will say that the story is important. Bullying is at an all-time high right now with all the technology we have these days. I have only been out of high school for twenty years but so much has changed even since then. Reading Erin’s story just pisses me off and also makes me want to hug and protect our children even more. I was never bullied and was never the bully so I can’t fully relate but I get it.
Overall…I thought it was a good story with importance. I am only giving it a four star because I felt there was just something missing. I do hope in the next book some of my questions will be answered.
Quotes:
“My favorite book, Mr. Perry? Well that’s not a simple choice. The selection is too great,” Mason says with a smile. I can’t tell if he is serious or not.
“If I tell you, then it’s real,” I say softly, touching his forearm. “Then it’s not something I can just brush off.”
“Oh my god, what a goof!”
“Yeah, but it made you laugh, so it was totally worth it. Now then, darlin’, let’s get you to class.”
“Oh, and he brings out the southern drawl. Ladies and gents, lock up your daughters.”
Author Bio

Olivia Rose is a writer of contemporary romance ranging from
YA to Adult.
She lives in Peterborough, England, and over the years, she
has developed an unhealthy appreciation for cheesy YA Films, cupcakes and bad
pop music. She adores fairy tales and ballet, drinks too much hot chocolate,
and watches an ungodly amount of Netflix. When she’s not busy writing, she can
be found exploring the world with her husband and chocolate Labrador.
