Book Synopsis: Petty Officer Bacon, a navy SEAL and ace sharpshooter, has been on the front lines of more than his fair share of dangerous ops. Yet when a minor injury relegates him to the beta team, he’s tasked with what may be his riskiest assignment yet: the silver fox journalist he’s babysitting is the hottest, most charismatic man he’s ever encountered.

Award-winning journalist Spencer Bryant may have been named one of Pride magazine’s most eligible bachelors of the year, but he’s not looking to change his relationship status. He’s a consummate professional who won’t risk his ethics or impeccable reputation by getting involved with a source. Even a sexy-as-hell military man. But while Spencer can resist his physical attraction to Bacon, he has less control over his emotions—especially when the mission goes sideways and the two men are trapped alone.

Getting out of the jungle alive turns out to be easy compared to facing the truth about their feelings for one another back in the real world. And whether or not they can build a future is a different story altogether.

This book is approximately 82,000 words

Kara's Review

Tight Quarters is Annabeth Albert’s newest addition to the Out of Uniform series. This is one of my favorite series’ and I hope she keeps introducing us to SEALs and their men forever and ever! There’s just something special about these group of men that tugs on my heart strings. They are all unique with different pasts, but they are all SEALs to the core. It’s who they are. Bacon is one of the most dedicated of the bunch. We’ve met him before and I knew he was going to be something special. Bacon’s one of the best snipers the Navy has and he never lets his team down. He’s got your six no matter who you are. After an injury puts him on the beta team, he’s stuck watching a journalist. Turns out he’s read his work and thinks he’s a great writer. He’s also sexy as hell with his silver hair and charming smile. But this is a serious op and he can’t get involved with someone he’s trying to protect. Spencer was given this assignment to follow the SEALs. He may be older, but he’s ready and in shape. But he’s not prepared for the danger of the mission and the danger that the sexy, younger Bacon stirs in him. When they are separated from the team and alone with nothing to do but talk, they learn about each other and form an emotional bond. One they both want to go beyond friends. After the mission is over their fun, flirty banter continues until they can’t wait to see each other again. They know it’s not a good idea, but they are going to do it anyway. It’s just for them though, stolen weekends, secret texts and emails. But it’s so much more than the physical. They are falling for each other. It’s beautiful to watch! Bacon, who’s pan, develops such strong feelings for Spencer. He loves his body and his mind. And Bacon has no trouble expressing his feelings, his wants, his desires. And he’s not afraid to ask for what he wants and he wants Spencer. Spencer isn’t sure they can make things work. They are in different places physically and in their careers. Will Spencer figure out that Bacon is worth more than a story before it’s too late? Can Bacon forgive Spencer for hurting him? I loved this story! It’s one of my favorites of the series. Bacon is everything! I loved the name that Spencer calls him. I sighed every time he said it. Bacon is sexy and smart and he’s a Navy man through and through. Spencer has seen and heard a lot in his years as a journalist and he was scared of his feelings for Bacon. Overall, I loved every second of it. I laughed, cried, had to fan myself and I need more Bacon and Spencer!

“Meet Spencer the Silverfox Reporter Hero”

As he followed Bacon out of the dining facility, he didn’t regret being open about Greg to the team. He’d never really been in the closet, but he’d spent too many years when he was younger watching his words, worrying about what others might think. Screw that. Life was far too short to hide, and besides, it was bound to come up at some point the next few weeks. Better to just get it out in the open now.

But Petty Officer Bacon did not seem to agree, all but glowering as he stomped ahead.

“You okay with walking or should I get a Jeep?” he barked at Spencer. Damn. He’d thought Bacon was the open-minded one of the group, but he was sure as hell acting put out.

“Totally fine with walking. Listen, if you have a problem with me—”

“I don’t.” A muscle worked in his jaw.

“You don’t like me,” Spencer said bluntly. Speaking of getting things out in the open, they needed to address this now. If Bacon was to be his handler, it benefited them both to not have an actively hostile relationship.

“I’d like you a lot better on any team other than mine,” Bacon shot back as he sped up his walking pace. “And at the risk of inflating what has to be a Super Duty size ego, I’m a fan of your writing stuff. But you’re the last thing my team needs.”

“You’re a fan?” Spencer couldn’t help but smile.

“Knew that would be the part you focused on,” Bacon grumbled. “You’re not a bad writer, okay? But we don’t need a reporter—any reporter—potentially fucking up our mission. And if you tell the LT I said that—”

“I won’t,” Spencer promised before Bacon could finish his threat. “I get your reservations, I do. But just give me a chance, okay? I’m not out to make you or your buddies look bad.”

“Why do you want this assignment anyway?” Bacon demanded. They were passing nondescript buildings and carefully manicured grounds, but Bacon didn’t slow down and point out the sights to Spencer, instead marching on.

“My book about injured vets sold well. My publisher would like to see more like that from me, and this was an easy freelance pitch to my old paper for the feature piece, so there’s that.” Spencer tried for light, which only made Bacon glower more. He was going to just leave it at that, let Bacon frown himself into next week, but then some of the truth spilled out. “I saw a number of spec ops guys in my research at Walter Reed. It got me intrigued about how modern warfare operates out in the field. And then one of them died last year. Felt like maybe I owed it to him to pursue this story, jump through all the PR hoops to make it happen.”

“He died in the line of duty?” Bacon sounded marginally less combative.

“No. Suicide.” The word hurt, almost like it scraped his throat on the way out, and his voice was unnaturally rough. Bacon went pale and slowed his pace.

“Fucking sucks,” he said with far more feeling than Spencer would have expected.

“Yeah, it does,” Spencer agreed. It did fucking suck, no two ways about it. Even now, his back went slick with sweat, stomach full of guilt and dread, as he remembered that awful phone call from Harry’s wife. But nothing would be served by telling Bacon how Harry’s death had utterly gutted him, so he kept his voice even. “But he saw things that few people ever do. And those stories, they feel…significant.”

Bacon was silent a long time, plodding along, looking down at his feet.

“I get it,” he said at last. “But not gonna lie, wish they’d assigned you elsewhere. Rangers, maybe.”

Their love is forbidden, but their hearts aren’t listening to rules and regulations…

Lieutenant Dustin Strauss is a reformed man. No longer a twentysomething hell-raiser, he’s his SEAL team’s new XO—and a man with a secret. Or seven. He’s kept his bisexual identity under wraps for years, along with his kinky side and a fondness for the military-themed semi-anonymous hookup website Joe4Joe. His latest chat buddy is more than a sexy online distraction—they’re taking their very not-safe-for-work relationship into real time.

Petty Officer Wes Lowe has a smart mouth, a take-charge attitude and an uncanny ability for making things go boom. The life of an enlisted man isn’t always enough to satisfy him, but one wild, no-questions-asked weekend with his online love comes close. When a transfer order comes in, Wes feels ready and centered. He’ll make a good impression on his new SEAL team and keep his growing feelings for Dustin on the down low.

But as they log more time online and some very real emotions surface, Dustin and Wes struggle to pretend they’re just a harmless fling. And when his commander introduces Dustin to his team’s newest member, they’re in for the shock of a lifetime…and a crushing disappointment: their difference in ranks means even a friendship without sexual contact could end their navy careers for good.

With their hearts on the line, Dustin and Wes may not survive their next mission, let alone find a way toward a future together.

Kara's Review

Wheels Up is the fourth book in the Out of Uniform series. And I have to say this is my favorite of the series! I didn’t even think that was possible until I met Wes. I’ve been a big fan of Dustin’s since we met him and I knew there was something delicious hiding behind those eyes. That doesn’t even begin to explain the magnitude of this story. Dustin and Wes have been online chat buddies for a while. They have never seen each other’s faces, but they have seen other amazing parts of each other. They don’t even know each other’s real names. One weekend, Dustin is in D.C. and Wes wants to meet. No promises, just meet, maybe have a beer. Dustin has just recently discovered his bisexuality and Wes is the first man he’s “been” with. When reality far surpasses anything they’ve shared online, Dustin is lost to his pleasure. Wes in person is a force of sexiness, dominating him like he craves. Dustin doesn’t know why he likes it that way. Maybe because he’s a Lieutenant  and a SEAL. He likes giving up control to someone else when he can. Wes loves that Dustin lets him take the reins. He craves it. The night they shared was off the charts hot, but it was just one night. They have to go back to their real lives. But, when Wes shows up as a new member of Dustin’s team, they are both shocked to hell. Not only did they not know what they really did for the military, Dustin is XO and Wes is enlisted. There are very specific rules about fraternization. It’s not a slap on the wrist infraction either. But, their chemistry is too strong to stay apart. They sneak around outside of work and try to keep their cool out in the field. Can they continue their relationship in secret? What happens if they are caught? Is love worth the risk? Oh my God. I can’t even express how much I loved this story. It was emotional, sexy, funny, heartwarming and heartbreaking. I wasn’t expecting for it to hit me like it did. There’s just something about these two strong, sexy SEALs that got to me. The push and pull. The trust. The letting go and the letting the other in. It was amazing to watch Dustin and Wes realize they were falling for each other and couldn’t do anything to stop it.

Annabeth never disappoints me. Ever. Each book is better than the last and I get lost in her stories. Overall, I laughed, cried, was fanning myself, cried more and laughed more. My heart was broken and then put back together again! I also loved seeing Apollo and Dylan again. Swoon.

This kiss said “Hello, I’ve missed you, I need you,” all at once.

Dustin was built like an action figure – all broad chest and thick thighs with arms that bulged eve when relaxed – while Wes was built like the hero’s sidekick. Skinny, less substantial. Probably cheaper.

“Don’t make me tie you up.”

“Your punishments sound a lot like presents.”

Well, fuck that noise.

He’d seen Wes’s chest before on camera, but the camera was fuzzy, missing key details like how Wes’s nipples were the exact color of Dustin’s favorite butterscotch toffee and how his collar bones looked made for biting. And the camera had never captured the force of Wes’s stare, the way he seemed to see past Dustin’s soul to his most secret of desires.

“Think you could get your cock out for me?” Wes’s voice was as seductive as a kiss, and his eyes never left Dustin.

Using his left hand, Dustin got an awkward grip on his cock, drew it out, waited for the next command.

“You’re doing so good for me,” Wes praised. “Pinch a nipple for me, nice and hard, and I might let you touch your cock.”

“Oh fuck.” Dustin absolutely loved when Wes played like his, and being able to look at his intense face while he made such dirty commands was the best head trip ever. Following orders, he used his left hand to pinch his right nipple, hard enough to make himself gasp.

“Twist it. More.” Wes leaned forward, arms resting on his knees.

“Hurts,” Dustin panted. He’d had worse pain, of course, but somehow deliberate pain like this was a far different beast than the ordinary wear and tear he took over the course of training or a mission.

“That’s right. Doing good.” Wes’s blue eyes were almost black now. “You’ve earned a stroke, but slowly.”

“Yes. Thank you.” Dustin’s eyes squished shut as his hand connected with his throbbing cock.

“No, look at me,” Wes commanded, and Dustin’s eyes snapped back open.

He stroked himself with a firm grip, but slowly like Wes wanted. He had to squeeze hard on the base because he was that close to the edge. “Oh God.” His voice broke.

“Yeah? Tell me what you want.” Wes was breathing hard, the only sign that he wasn’t immune to Dustin’s show.

“I’m close.” Dustin’s whole body trembled as he repeated the slow stroke upward on his cock.

“No, you’re not.” Wes’s voice was stern, his eyes like granite chunks. “Tell me. Tell me what you want.”

Usually this was where Dustin would start begging to come, admitting to progressively kinkier fantasies, but instead the truth tumbled out. “Touch me. Oh, God, touch me please.”
