Blog Tour, Reviews & *Giveaway* – Never With You, Anie Michaels

Title: Never With You
Series: Never Series (standalone read)
Author: Anie Michaels
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: August 15, 2017

Talia Lennick expected an uneventful week at the beach with her family. Reading, sunbathing, recharging her proverbial batteries—all typical beach vacation activities. Oh, and dealing with her family, who was too concerned with her almost-thirty-and-single status. What she didn’t expect was Briggs Townsend. Briggs was the handsome man living in the house next door, who looked too damned sexy all the time—whether he was surfing or wielding a tool belt while remodeling his beach house. It was hard to keep her eyes off him. But looking at him and admiring his incredible body was as far as she could take it, because a relationship was the last thing she needed.

Briggs Townsend was completely consumed with tearing down the house he’d shared with his cheating ex-wife and building new walls—for both the house and his heart. Women were the last thing on his mind when he spotted her on the beach. Then the firecracker in the sexy red bikini became the only thing he could think about. He didn’t need a relationship—but he needed her.

Two people who had both been burned in the past with undeniable chemistry and attraction, where was the harm in a little vacation romance? Sex with an expiration date sounded like a perfect solution, until emotions came into play. Will Talia be able to have casual sex with the irresistible stranger without getting lost in him? Will Briggs be willing to take a chance on her and tear down his walls to let her in? At the end of their week together, will either be able to walk away?

This is a stand-alone read, and can be enjoyed without having read previous books in the series.

I’ve been a fan of Anie Michaels’ since the very beginning. Never with You is her newest book in the Never series. Porter is still one of all-time favorites and I just have to say how happy I was to see him again! Never with You is a story of two people finding each other at what seems is the wrong time. But what if it’s not wrong at all. What if the universe gives you exactly what you need at the exact right moment? Talia and Briggs didn’t expect to meet each other. Talia’s on vacation and Briggs is fixing up his house. But when she sees him surfing and he sees her in her red bikini, everything changes. The attraction is strong, but they fight it. They are both coming off breakups and they aren’t ready for something new. Or are they? Can a short term, fun fling turn into more? What’s worse, letting go to save your heart or fighting for something real? I loved this story! Briggs is swoonworthy with his sexiness and his smooth words. Talia is funny, sexy, even if she’s a little annoying at times. I was yelling at her to take a chance! But, that’s a good sign, just means I was invested. I loved seeing Porter and the gang again and I enjoyed meeting these new characters and their friends and family. Overall, it’s a sexy story with some sadness and humor. The perfect combination!

Not only was Briggs shirtless, he was also wearing a tool belt.

“All I know is that I don’t want to drive away from you and never hear from  you again, or never see you again.”

4.5 Stars

Never With You is the sixth book in the amazing Never series by one of my favorite authors, Anie Michaels. It can be read as a standalone but if you did read the previous books then you will recognize some of the secondary characters. But this is the first time you will meet Briggs and Talia. Two people that didn’t expect to meet each other.
Talia was on vacation with her family of seven for the next week in a remote area on the Oregon coast when she saw him. A man on the water that she couldn’t stop watching. What she didn’t know was that he was watching her too. While she was watching him surf, he was watching her on the beach in her sexy red bikini. They both wondered what the other was like but they both knew it was useless to meet. Nothing could happen. So they both walk away. That is until the lights go out…
Over the next week Briggs and Talia plan to get to know each other. Help each other. Feel each other. All with knowing there is an expiration date on their friendship. There has to be. Neither of them are ready for a relationship. They know this and don’t want to hurt the other in the end. So, it’s one week of fun in the sun. That was the plan. But they also didn’t plan on those pesky things called feelings. Can they walk away at the end of the week?
This was a great addition to the series! It was awesome that we got to go back the beach where it all started. It was so much fun catching up with the previous characters and to be introduced to new ones. Briggs and Talia are adorable, fun, and sexy. I definitely felt their passion and pain. It was a fun ride!
Overall…Anie has done it again. Gave us another story in this incredible series. Briggs and Talia are lovable characters with painful pasts and unknown futures.
Quotes:
Shit. A beautiful schoolteacher who’d take beer over margaritas? With a fantastic body? This was torture.
“Show me.”
“I’m going to undress you, firecracker, and I’m going to take my time. I’m going to memorize every inch of you, taste every part of you, and I don’t care if it takes all night, yeah?”
She nodded, almost frantically, but then said, “Yes,” on a breath.

5 Stars

Aim is the third book in the suspenseful and sexy Circle of Justice series. It can be read as a standalone since each book is a different couple but they are all connected by the circle. A circle full of assassins for the FBI. Ian hasn’t come home from a hunt empty-handed since he started but it also hasn’t been personal. Will it fuck with his head?

Grace has gone missing. The chief of police’s daughter. A hotel event and marketing planner. And the only woman Ian Chandler has truly wanted for a very long time. He didn’t want her to have to be hunted down to get her on his doorstep but that is what happened. It was now his turn to find the piece of shit that took her and the asshole who wanted her dead. It was time for him to do what he does best. Kill. But first he needed to figure out who.

Grace has been turning down Ian for over a year. She didn’t have time to date. She was married to her job. She also couldn’t trust a man like Ian. Sinfully sexy, charming, and funny. Sure, he sounds like the perfect man but every other girl knew this too. She didn’t want her heart broken again by a man like him. Now, she was being protected by him in his home. She knew it wouldn’t take long to give into their chemistry but what happens when she can walk out the door? If she ever could. She couldn’t go anywhere until this mystery was solved.

I loved this story. It’s suspenseful, sexy, sweet, and engaging. The characters are well-written. The storyline is unique. And I didn’t want to put it down.

Overall…it was a kick ass addition to the series! I am excited for the next book. I know it’s going to be just as awesome, if not better.

Quotes:

“So reckless, Ian Chandler. From the first time I saw you at Wild River, I could tell you were a troublemaker.”

“So, this is where you dream about me, huh?”
I rolled my eyes. “You wish.”

“You’re like a vigilante super hero. It’s kind of hot. You remind me of Arrow.”
“Nah, I’m sexier than him,” I said with a wink.

Excerpt

My phone rang and I thought it’d be Bryce, but it wasn’t.
“What can I do for you, Chief?”
Colton Myers was the chief of police back in Wyoming. His
call wasn’t unusual, because they often called me and my brothers when there
were cases the local PD couldn’t solve. “I need your help,” he replied, his
voice shaking.
The cab driver pulled up to the airport entrance and I
passed him a wad of bills before getting out. “What’s going on? I’m about to
get on a flight to head home.”
“Good. I’ll drop these files off with Reed, so you can see
them when you get back.”
The din of the bustling city made it hard to hear him, but I
could tell he was distraught. “Files for what?”
He sighed heavily. “You know how there’ve been missing
hikers in Montana?”
“Yeah, I saw something about it before I left for New York.”
It wasn’t uncommon for tourists to sway from the hiking trails or test their
limits by doing stupid shit. Most of those people found themselves dead. I
liked to climb the cliffs, but I was good at it.
“We’re missing people here too,” Colton confessed.
“It happens every year. Why does this case shock you?” I’d
been gone for three weeks, so I hadn’t even paid attention to what was going on
in Wyoming.
He huffed angrily. “About three weeks ago, eight men
supposedly went missing in our mountains. Just this morning, I couldn’t get a
hold of Grace. Her boss also called me and said she never showed up at their
meeting last night. Her car is still at the hotel. It’s like she disappeared.”
“You’ve got to be shitting me,” I growled low.
Grace was his daughter and a good friend of mine. Hell, I’d
wanted to be more than that for quite some time. I only held back from pursuing
her out of respect for her father. She was one of the most beautiful women I’d
ever known.
“Please, Ian. I have to find her.”
Hurrying through the doors, impatience flooded through my
veins. “We’ll find her, if it’s the last thing I
do . . . I swear.”

As a social worker, I’ve seen my fair share of broken families, bad relationships, and worlds of regret.
Because of that the last thing, I’ll ever do is let down my guard, or open up my heart.
As for men, bring ’em on.
I love a good man in my bed, but I’m not looking for forever or happily ever after.
That’s not my style.
Please me, and leave.
These are my rules.
There’s no bending or breaking them.
Even when he pulls out all the stops,
I’m not budging.
They’re set in stone.
Or should I say, “Rock?”

ROCK
I’m chiseling away at that hard exterior, one pebble at a time.
I don’t negotiate, I don’t share, and
I sure as hell don’t wait my turn.
Despite her smart mouth and fiery ways,
I still want her.
But this “friends with benefits” deal of hers is bullshit.
I don’t play that way.
At least, I don’t plan to anymore.
I will own every ounce of her.
That body.
That mind.
That heart.
It will all be mine.

Blog Tour, 6 Heart and 5 Heart Reviews & *Giveaway* – A Worthy Man, Jaime Reese

May 9, 2017 By

Title: A Worthy Man
Series: The Men of Halfway House #5
Author: Jaime Reese
Genre: M/M Romance
Release: May 2, 2017
Photographer: Eric McKinney of 6:12 Photography

A story of two men and the boundless love that forever changed them.

Vannguard Shaw has spent the last ten years serving a life sentence and adjusting to the ache of solitude. He accepts his fate, a sacrifice for the only man he ever loved and the one person who saw beyond his rough edges.

Drayton grew up with a trust fund and pre-planned future, but an unexpected encounter one night forces him to abandon everything and start from scratch. He is now a self-made man and developer of one of the most sought after electric exotic automobiles in the world with a fortune greater than that of his birthright. Yet, he’d surrender it all—again—for the only man who’s still ever-present in his heart.

After a decade and entirely too much distance between them, Vann is suddenly released back into a world that has been nothing but cruel. Drayton never lost hope they would once again reunite and pick up where they left off, but Vann’s stubborn nature and repeated encounters with a heartbreaking world prove to be a challenge.

Vann needs to tap into his fighting spirit’s reservoir of strength and hope life doesn’t punish him for taking a chance. Only then will he realize his own value and feel worthy enough to finally have Drayton’s heart. And their chance at forever.

* Although part of a series, this full-length novel can be read as a stand-alone. *Word count: 124K

Jaime Reese is one of my favorite authors and her Men of Halfway House is one of my favorite series’. This series is full of emotion, angst, love, sexiness and friendship. A Worthy Man is the next book in the series. It’s a second chance romance between two young men who found each other in a world full of hate, ugliness and disrespect. It’s a forever kind of love. A once in a lifetime love. Until one dark night changes their lives. Vann pays for his crime and after ten years, he’s back out into the world. Drayton hasn’t seen Vann in ten years. But he never forgot him. He never stopped loving him. Vann isn’t the same man he was ten years ago. Prison changed him, but he thought about Dray every day and the thought of seeing him again, touching him again… Vann is placed in Halfway House with Matt and J. Drayton saw to every little detail. Made sure everything was perfect for him. He knows the transition is going to be hard, but he hasn’t given up on Vann yet and he’s not about to start now. Drayton has made a name for himself after his life changed forever. He’s rich, famous and powerful. And now that Vann is back in his life, he’s whole again. Obstacles are going to get in the their way. The past is going to come back to haunt them. But, will Vann finally realize they are stronger together? Will he see that he’s worthy of Dray’s love? I loved this story! These two men have tortured souls, but their love is so strong. It’s stronger than anything that tries to stop them. They are whole when they are together. Yin and Yang. Dray and Vann’s story is one of my all-time favorite romance stories. Ever. A Worthy Man gave me all the feels: I cried, laughed, got hot and bothered, swooned, got mad and got more hot and bothered! I loved seeing all the Halfway House friends and family. Yay!

“We sound like a couple of saps.”

“I don’t mind being a little sticky when you’re around.”

“Okay, so we’re horny saps.”

“You have a library of special words.”

“It’s easy where you’re concerned. Because you’re amazing.”

“I know I’m hot. You keep telling me that so it’s hard to forget.”

“That was accidentally romantic.”

“I was going for intentionally romantic.”

Sandra's Review

5 Stars

A Worthy Man is the fifth book in one of my favorite M/M series’. Jaime somehow makes each book better and better. More emotional. More inspiring. More raw. More everything. Even though this is part of a series, each one can be read as a standalone. If you read A Mended Man then you might remember Drayton. It was a small introduction but I just knew his story would be worth the wait. And I was so right!!!
It’s been ten years since Vann has seen the only man he has ever loved. Being locked away behind bars has not been easy but being away from his Dray has been hell. This is his second chance at a life with him and he hopes to God that Dray will give him that chance. He knew he was worthy of his love but if there could still be a friendship, he would take it. He would take anything to be in his life. What Vann didn’t know was that Dray never gave up on him or them. He knew Vann didn’t deserve to be locked away for ten years. It shouldn’t even had been in there for one day. They can’t change the past but he sure as hell was going to show Vann that they deserve their future. Together. First, he needed to prove to Vann that he is worthy. That they are equal. That Dray wouldn’t be where he was without Vann’s support. Even if he didn’t realize he was giving it.
Vann has a lot of break through to get his life back. To make his life better than it was even before that night that took him away from his only constant. Drayton. He has be in isolation for so long that sensory overload can break him down. He has to find his happy place. He also needs to believe in his skills. He is a hard worker but doesn’t think his talents are anything special. But after years of being worthless, stupid, waste of space then you start to believe it. It’s hard for him to believe Dray’s special words but he trusts and loves the man something fierce. Can Drayton prove to Vann that he is worth everything to him and more?
I loved that this isn’t just about Vann’s Journey after ten year of imprisonment. Drayton has his own set of emotions to go through as well. His own insecurities. It’s wonderful to see them grow over just a few months. To be upfront for this ride was amazing. The story flows perfectly. The characters are raw, strong, sexy, and talented.
Overall…Their story is beautiful, heartbreaking, inspiring, sexy, and moving. I am not sure if there is going to be more to this series but I am hopeful. It was great to see what the rest of men of the halfway house are up to now but there is one character I want to know more about. Him and his stuffed bunny.
Quotes:
“Sometimes, you just need one person to make you feel like you fit in this world.”
“You…me…we’re a team. Got it?”
“But I’m not the same anymore. I’m working on trying to put myself back together again, but I don’t think I’ll ever be that guy you fell in love with.”
“Next time, lead the conversation with your reasoning.”
“Then I don’t get to see this pushy, dominant side of you I’ve missed.”
“I think you gave me another gray hair.”

“C’mon,” Drayton said, tugging Vann by the hand. After breakfast and a countertop quickie, they had immediately returned to the bedroom and had been hibernating there since. He had no objection to spending all day in bed, but he had a surprise for Vann and couldn’t stand waiting any longer. “I want to show you the rest of the house.”

“But I like the bedroom.”

Drayton chuckled, pulling him up with more force. “We can come back after.”

“Fine,” Vann grumbled, finally sitting up on the bed with a dramatic pout.

“You’re cute when you don’t get your way.”

“Cute enough to stay in bed?” He waggled his eyebrows and petted the bed. “It’s really soft.”

Drayton leaned in and gave Vann a chaste kiss, jerking back quickly to avoid his grasp.

Vann’s laughter filled the room. “Damn. You’re still super-fast.” He reluctantly stood and stretched his arms over his head.

Drayton’s lips parted, enjoying the flex of muscles.

“Like what you see?” Vann asked, delivering a cocky grin as he seductively licked his lower lip. “Let’s get back in bed—”

Drayton threw his head back and laughed. “You’re still persistent as hell. C’mon. I want to show you something.”

“I want to show you something too.”

“This is important.” Drayton crossed his arms. “We can skim the other rooms but there’s one that’s special. It’s…yours.”

Vann sobered. “You’ve given me enough to cover every event for the rest of my life and then some. I don’t want—”

“It’s also for me. I’ll watch you while you use the room.”

“Hmm.” Vann pursed his lips. “Okay, you’ve got my attention.”

After a little more bargaining, Drayton finally lured Vann out of the bedroom and down the hallway. He opened the door to his office and stepped inside. “This is the room I’m usually in when I’m here.”

“Not anymore.”

He chuckled as they exited the office. They walked down the hall to the room he’d had converted into a gym.

“Damn, this is nice.” Vann checked the different weight options and looked at each of the machines.

“You’ve got everything here for all types of routines. And if you don’t like the view, you’ve got a TV.”

“The view’s beautiful.”

“Whatever we need to change out or add, we’ve still got space. I do a lot of thinking while I’m on the treadmill, so we’re not getting rid of that.”

Vann chuckled. “Okay.” He walked over to Drayton and leaned in for a slow kiss.

“Mmm. What was that for?”

“Is this the room I’ll use while you watch me? I promise I’ll make you sweat too.”

Jaime Reese is the alter ego of an artist who loves the creative process of writing, just not about herself. Fiction is far more interesting. She has a weakness for broken, misunderstood heroes and feels everyone deserves a chance at love and life. An avid fan of a happy ending, she believes those endings acquired with a little difficulty are more cherished.

Vann grew silent again, rubbing his thumb along Drayton’s hand. “I’m tired of life kicking my ass all the time.”

“Then maybe it’s time you kicked back.”

“Um, I’m pretty sure that’s the kind of shit that would land me back in that hell.” He patted their clasped hands with his free one. “You’re supposed to be the smart one in this relationship.”

Drayton chuckled, thankful the teasing side of Vann was still present. “What I mean is…don’t let this shit hit its mark. You’re not this tough guy everyone thinks you are.”

“You’re supposed to tell me how badass I am and how you’ve been fantasizing about me every night.”

Drayton threw his head back and laughed.

“I missed hearing your laugh all those years,” Vann whispered.

He sighed as he tilted his head toward Vann. “I need you to listen to me. Okay?”

Vann nodded, staring at their clasped hands.

“You’ve got a good heart, and I’ve learned that’s both a strength and a weakness. It’s the reason you are the most caring man I know, but also the reason you feel this pain so much.”

“You’re getting better at this whole reading people thing.” Vann tilted his face toward him, his eyes pleading as if making an effort to absorb his message. “I’m not the same guy I used to be.”

“You’re still my Vann.” Drayton reached out, placing his palm against Vann’s chest. “In here.”

“I feel as if I take one step forward then get kicked ten steps backward.” Vann softly thumped the back of his head against the wall, another tic that seemed to linger after all these years.

“You’re a fighter.”

“That’s what Four Finger Fred said.”

“Who?”

“Never mind,” Vann mumbled.

“You’re not a quitter, so don’t you dare start now. You always find a way to make things work.” Drayton quieted, hoping to convey every ounce of love he felt for the man staring back at him. “That relentless fighter, he’s the guy I fell in love with when I was a kid and he’s the guy who had the strength to pull through the last ten years. And he’s the guy staring back at me right now. Who I love. Back then, now, and always.”

“You’re a romantic fucker,” he said with a weak chuckle. Vann ghosted his fingers along Drayton’s jaw, his focus following his fingers as they traveled down his neck. Drayton’s chest tightened when Vann looked up and gave him a lopsided grin—one that bore a hint of youthful innocence Drayton hadn’t seen in so long. “I’m supposed to be the strong one, standing guard while you change the world. Now…I just feel so fucking lost.”

Drayton leaned in and pressed a kiss to Vann’s lips. “You and me, we’re a team. Don’t ever forget that. I’ll stand guard for you until you find your footing again.”

Vann wrapped his arms around Drayton’s shoulders and held him close. “Thank you.”

He slid his arms around Vann and sighed. He stroked the back of Vann’s hair and hoped his message had been received, and that his words had enough power to cast out the evil demons trying to imprison Vann’s spirit.

Blog Tour, Review, Excerpt & *Giveaway* – Target, LP Dover

April 8, 2017 By

Title – Target: A Circle of Justice Novel
Author – LP Dover
Genre – Romantic Suspense Standalone
Release Date – April 4, 2017
Cover Designed By – Mae I Design and Photography

An assassin . . . that’s what I am.

I’m Wade Chandler by day and a killer at night. I get the job done no matter the cost. Not only do I hunt people for the FBI, but I’m also the owner of Chandler Enterprises, one of the top companies in the southeast.

When Brina Carmichael – daughter of the former president – wants my business advice, it’s hard to resist her long legs and seductive smile. One thing leads to another and now I’m in too deep.

I can’t let her know what I am, but I’ve never wanted a woman the way I want her.

However, harboring secrets comes at a price and I have a feeling she’s keeping some of her own. Especially, when my next mission leads me straight to her. Turns out she’s not who I thought she was.

4 Stars
Target is the second book in the Circle of Justice series but it can be read as a standalone. If you did read Trigger than you would have met Wade Chandler. I liked him in Trigger so I was happy that he was getting his own book. He lives a double life and that is always interesting…
Wade Chandler is a trained assassin and also the owner of one of the largest investment companies in the country. The only people that know about his double life are in the Circle of Justice. This makes it hard to let anyone in. It’s too difficult to lie to someone day in and day out about who he truly is. A killer. A man with a list of targets. But when the President of the United States becomes a target to someone on the other side he has to mix business with pleasure. He knew Brina Carmichael when they were kids. She is a former first daughter and now her brother is the President. They are not kids anymore. He wants her. And when she needs his assistance with her business, he can not say no. She is not only gorgeous but she is business smart. It’s a lethal combination for him. But when she discovers her family is in danger, can he protect what he really is from the woman that is breaking down the walls around his heart?
I don’t want to spoil anything so I’ll leave it at that for the story. But I will talk about the characters. I liked Brina Carmichael because she is more than a socialite former first daughter. She is a hard-working business owner. Sister. Aunt. Daughter. Friend. And can take care of herself. I knew I was going to like Wade after meeting him in Trigger. He is a serious business man but he is also funny and sexy. He also shows his tender side with Brina. It is an all around badass with heart. Together, they are sexy, complicated, and fun. But I only gave the book four stars because even though I saw a connection with these two I didn’t feel it deep enough. I wanted more.
Overall…I really enjoyed the book. It was a great addition to the series. The characters are likable and lickable. It has suspense, sexy times, and laughs. I am looking forward to the next book.
Quotes:
“I do have an agenda, sunshine. And hopefully, one of these days, you’ll figure it out.”
“You’ll have to catch me first.”
“I’ll give you more,” he growled, sliding down my body. “But first,” he gently turned me around, “I want to explore.”

Standing at the receptionist’s desk, I waited to hear the verdict. Would Wade see me or not? When I heard his answer, I breathed a sigh of relief. I didn’t want my stupidity to ruin my shop’s chances at success.
The receptionist smiled up at me. “You can go back now, Ms. Carmichael. His office is the last one on the right.”
“Thank you,” I replied with a smile of my own.
Pulse pounding in my ears, I walked down the hall to Wade’s office. I had a folder of my designs tucked under my arm. Hopefully, it’d be enough to persuade him. Taking a deep breath, I knocked on his door.
“Come in,” he called out, his voice making me shiver.
I hated how this man made me feel like that. It’d been over a week and I could still feel the way he touched every square inch of my body. I wasn’t a needy woman, but he made me want more. This is business, nothing more.
Head held high, I opened the door. Wade was at his desk, leaning back in his chair, all cool and confident, dressed in his expensive suit with his brown hair perfectly coifed. Definitely not a bundle of nerves, like I was. “Mr. Chandler, it’s good to see you again.”
His brows lifted. “Likewise. Although I’d probably believe it more if you hadn’t run out on me the last time.”
And there it was.
Biting my lip, I shut the door. I couldn’t tell if he was angry, or didn’t care. “Thought I’d save you the trouble,” I confessed. “We both had a little too much to drink that night. And let’s face it, it was either going to be me or you. And I prefer not to be the one left behind.”
“Neither do I,” he said in all seriousness. “So, what brings you here?”
