In my defense, I didn’t know she was his sister
“Sexy
and fun with a delicious hockey hero, DIRTY SECRET is great for fans of Elle
Kennedy, Toni Aleo, and Sawyer Bennett. I devoured this book!” -NYTimes
Bestseller Lexi Ryan
This team hates me. Something about my chronic case of resting prick
face and that thing with the captain when the season started.
My fist, his jaw. Yeah, we go back and not in a good way.
Coach says no more “confrontational BS” or I don’t play at all. And
that’s a hit my career in the NHL can’t take.
So the plan is simple. Keep my head down and finish out my contract
with my fists checked.
There’s just one problem.
Allie. The
girl from Vancouver eight months ago. The one with the sexy, shy, and sinfully
bold smile and the sweetest, wettest mouth I ever tasted. The girl who blew my
mind and then blew out of my life without giving me her number.
Turns out she’s the captain’s little sister.
And even though my career depends on it… I can’t stay away from
her.

Sandra's Review

5 out of 5 stars

Dirty Secret is the first book in the Slayers Hockey series by the new-to-me Author, Mira Lyn Kelly. I am so happy that she reached out and asked me to review her book. I try to read books by authors I haven’t read before and I am so glad I took a chance of her because…it was damn amazing!! It hit all the right spots!
Vaughn needs to keep his head down and his hockey stick to the ice. He can’t afford to fuck up the season with the Slayers, a team he didn’t even want to be on. It was just a stepping stone to the team he wanted to be on…in Oregon. He actually had a friend there unlike in Chicago where even the fans were hating on him because he didn’t get along with their golden boy, Greg Baxter. Who so happened to be the older brother to the woman he took to bed eight months ago in another country. A woman he couldn’t get out of his mind. A woman who left without even a last name or phone number. Shit…she didn’t even give him her real name.
Allie didn’t think she would ever see him again. The hot as fuck Vaughn Vassar. A man who she crushed on even when she was in high school. She thought it was only going to be one night. One night to pretend she wasn’t Greg’s little sister. One night to give into temptation. And now, that temptation was back in her city. She couldn’t risk her brother finding out. But, when they lock eyes one night it was over, she was fucked. And so was he if Greg found out.
I can’t get into anymore but I will say that I loved it so hard. I love Vaughn. I love Allie. I love them together. Their banter. Their sweet glances. Their secret connection. I loved it all. Allie gets to see a side of Vaughn nobody else sees. And Vaughn sees Allie and not just as Greg’s sister but as a woman who deserves her happy.
I can’t wait for the next book! I also picked up Greg’s book, Dirty Player which is free right now!
Quotes:
“You could have told me you were leaving.”
“And then?” she asks, her voice unsteady.
“And then I would have kissed you goodbye just like this.”
“I’d make you laugh so you were smiling just for me.”
“You called me Quinn,” he says like some chick hearing the L-word for the first time.

Excerpt

When I get home, I kick my Chucks into the corner
by the closet and look around my empty apartment feeling at loose ends. I don’t
trust myself with the replay of the game I just watched. I can’t handle seeing
Vaughn Vassar looking at me like that again tonight. Not without risking things
neither of us ought to risk.
Closing my eyes, I slowly lower myself to sit at
the stepdown to the living area and try to focus on all the reasons leaving the
bar was the right thing to do. Telling myself that kiss from this afternoon was
a mistake, no matter how good it felt.
So good.
I could be back at the bar in—
Knock, knock, knock.
Sucking in a startled breath, I push to my feet. My
heart speeds as that restless feeling in my belly turns into a kind of
instinctual pull that draws me to the door.
I don’t have to check to know this isn’t my
brother.
It’s not George looking to chat, or Helene showing
up with snacks and office gossip.
Not tonight.
My fingers tingle as I reach for the knob, my heart
races, and my mind empties of all the reasons this is a mistake. Of everything
except the relief surging through my veins as I swing the door open. Vaughn is
braced against the frame again. He’s lost the suit jacket, and his big arms are
flexed and straining as he barely holds himself back.
“I shouldn’t be here,” he says, the words gravel
rough and rubbing against me in ways that only make me want to hear more. “I
don’t even have a fucking excuse to check on you.”
“But you came anyway,” I whisper, drinking him in.
“I came anyway.”
The muscle in his jaw jumps over and again as his
silver eyes swirl with an intensity that matches the energy coming off him in
waves. I shouldn’t be reaching for him, but I don’t think I could stop if I
tried. I want this. I want him. My fingers curl into the gap between the
buttons of his dress shirt and I tug.
There’s a beat of resistance when he pulls back and
our eyes connect—and then he’s launching forward on a growl so savagely
possessive, I feel it through the deepest part of me. That big arm I couldn’t
stop staring at sweeps around me as his mouth crashes against mine in a feral
kiss. This isn’t tender or tentative. It’s desperate and hungry and has me half
climbing his body before my shoulders hit the door he just swung shut with his
foot.
Hands roaming over my thighs and ass, he alternates
between gentle and desperate, stroking one second and gripping the next. Making
me groan around the thrust of his tongue. Making me rock into that thick,
steely ridge lodged between us.
“Allie, tell me this isn’t a mistake.”
I need more of his mouth, more of his kiss. More of
his huge chest pressing hot and hard against my own so I can’t feel anything
but him. “It’s not a mistake.”
It’s critical. Necessary.
It’s my first full breath in weeks, months. “We
just—we just need to get it out of our system. That’s all.”
His nostrils flare, and his eyes burn over me as
his hand tightens in my hair. “I don’t think—” But instead of finishing
whatever he was going to say, he blows out a harsh breath and gives me a single
nod.
And then I have it, the crush of his kiss.

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author L.P.
Dover comes the crossover fans having been waiting for! Beloved characters from
her Armed & Dangerous and Circle of Justice novels come together in this
tantalizing new series!
For years, my family was on top.
Ruthless.
Respected.
Feared.
That all changed with the death of my father. As I moved into the position of
power over the Corsino empire, enemies to the family tried to take over my
city. They thought I would be weakened by my loss. They don’t know me.

My name is Dominic Corsino, and I have a ravenous appetite for money, power,
and women. The last of which I pushed aside when Faith Hilliard, a close family
friend, turned up in need of help. I’ve always wanted her, yet couldn’t bring
myself to involve her in the dark savagery of my world. Now, she’s within my
grasp once more. If I didn’t fear her running from my brutal truth, I would
have already tasted her sweet temptation.

But the time for hesitation passes when a fighter in my underground ring is murdered.
With my family name at stake, I can no longer hide who I am and what I’m
capable of. It’s all coming down to a one winner-takes-all match. If I walk
away with the prize, the threats against the Corsinos will be crushed. If I
lose, our entire empire will crumble.

It’s a dangerous game … and I’m ready to play.

Release Day & 5 Heart Reviews – The Bangover, Lili Valente

October 3, 2019 By

Title: The Bangover
Author: Lili Valente
Genre: Red Hot Romantic Comedy
Release Date: October 3, 2019
Blurb

Dear Self—Do not pass Go, do not bang your oldest friend
in the limo on the way to the swanky Vegas hotel. Just get back on the plane,
fly home, and forget you almost had co-ed naked best buddy time with the one
man who is completely off limits.
I give myself very good advice.
Too bad I suck at taking it.
Not that Colin Donovan, my bad boy rock star best friend, is
any help. Walking around looking ridiculously sexy, telling me I’m beautiful
and fun and perfect the way I am and somehow making me believe it.
If only we hadn’t drunk so much whiskey that first night, if
only I’d kept that red bikini in my suitcase, if only his evil ex-girlfriend
hadn’t come sniffing around making me feel all territorial and protective.
And if only I hadn’t been secretly in love with Colin for
years before this Friends with Bennies Vacation got started.
Who knows? Maybe the high will be worth the fall.
Either way, there’s no way I’m leaving Vegas without one
heck of a Bangover.
The Bangover is a red-hot, laugh out loud rom-com
featuring two best friends on a collision course with Vegas-flavored
disaster—and each other. It stands alone. No cheating or cliffhangers.

Kara's Review

5 out of 5 stars

The Bangover is Lili Valente’s newest hilarious best friends to lovers romance. I have read every word Lili has ever written and she never fails to entertain me with the laughs, the tears, the heat and the fun! I especially loved this story of two best friends falling for each other. Colin the sexy rockstar, Kirby the quirky writer. They seem like opposites on paper, but they have been through a lot in their friendship. It’s been purely hands off until some whiskey and a spontaneous trip to Vegas. Two friends can bang each other in Vegas and then resume their normal lives, right? Oh, so wrong! Crazy cats, exes, sexy swim suits and hot sexy times are just what Kirby and Colin need to show them sometimes what you’ve always wanted has been right in front of you the entire time. I loved this story! I laughed out loud, teared up, got mad, smiled and felt hopeful! Colin was sexy, sweet and said all the right things. Kirby was adorable and smart and so funny! I loved the secondary characters and I hope to see more from them!

So when she says, “I vote kissing friends,”

I answer, “Hell, yes, woman. I’m going to break your dry spell like spring on the Serengeti.”

She laughs, kissing me harder as she says, “You’ll taste the rains down in Africa?”

I’m just… excited. Excited to spend a week with one of my favorite people, excited to coax more sexy coming-sounds from her mouth, excited to find out if fucking Kirby is as amazing as I think it will be.

She arches a brow my way and whispers, “Everything to do with it.”

I shake my head. “Nah. It takes two to make a thing go right, Larry.”

“Rob Base and D.J. E-Z Rock?” she asks, her dimples popping.

“I only quote from the masters. Eighties rappers and Shakespeare.”

Sandra's Review

5 out of 5 stars

The Bangover is Lili Valente’s newest hilarious and filthy rom-com. I have read every thing this woman has written and have loved every book. And I must this book is one of my favorites!!
Colin and Kirby have been best friends for fifteen years. Even though they live worlds apart they still make time to talk on the phone every night and see each other whenever he is in town touring with his band. While he is out traveling the world she is happy in her house with her cats writing horror stories. But now? They are hitting Vegas after too much whiskey and a few kisses. I mean what could go wrong when going to Sin City with your best friend to have a sexcation for a week?
A whole lot of crazy!! That’s what. And a whole lot of filthy times!! I don’t want to spoil anything so I will keep it at that. I will say that I didn’t want to stop reading. It was so much fun and dirty with a mix of suspense and emotions. I fell for the characters right away and kept falling until the very end.
Quotes:
“Are you sure you’re going to be okay? She looks…bloodthirsty.”
“It’s you I’m worried about,” I say. “Run. Save yourself. And if I don’t make it out alive, burn everything in my blue file folder. That’s where the bad poetry is.”
“Are you always this comfortable waltzing around naked?” I prop my hands on my hips. “I don’t waltz, Larry. I stride manfully to my destination.” I stalk toward the door, exaggerating the length of my stride and the bend in my knees to deliberately look ridiculous. A husky Kirby laugh rewards my efforts.
“You’re such a clown,” she says, shaking her head.
“I am pretty threatening,” Kirby says dryly before adding in a monotone, “Growl. Snarl. Snap. Grr.”
“Terrifying,” I agree with a smile.

Sandra's Review

5 out of 5 stars

Hitched is the third book in the Happy Cat series by the hilarious duo, Pippa Grant and Lili Valente. I love this series full of awesome families, funny creatures, and amazing friends. It can be read as standalone. There are four brothers in the O’Dell family and it was time for a third brother to get hitched. Again.
This isn’t the first time Blake and Hope said “I do,” but it is the first time they did it for an alpaca. It had been four years since they got married and had an annulment in the city of Sin. Since then Blake and Hope have been in this limbo of friendship between love and hate. He didn’t want to marry Hope again to just get hurt. If they were getting married then it was going to be real. He let her walk away the first time but he won’t make that mistake again.
Hope knew how to love animals but she felt she didn’t know anything about loving or being loved by a person. Her family was full of miserable people. Miserable marriages. She didn’t even know if she believed in marriage but now she was married twice. To Blake O’Dell. The only man who made her feel anything. It scared her. She had three months to stay married to him. Three months to keep her distance from her husband.
I can’t say more than that. I will say that I laughed out loud so many times. I fell for this couple and fell any more for the previous couples along with all of their nutty animals.
Overall…it’s a story full of passion, laughter, craziness, short circuits, and love.
Quotes:
Maybe it’s wrong to look forward to torturing my ex-wife with our second ill-advised marriage. But if it’s wrong, I don’t want to be right.
“I am not your beta, woman. I’m an untamed man-beast who eats rocks for breakfast and spits nails for lunch.”
“Because that makes sense.”
“Go on. Say it. You’re my alpha alpaca, Blake. That’ll be your fourth nice thing about me today.”
I want this kiss, this touch, this press of our bodies, to show her that I’m here.
5 out of 5 stars

Hitched is the third book in the Happy Cat series by the hilarious and talented duo of Lili Valente and Pippa Grant. This is my favorite of the series! I’m not sure if it’s anticipation of Blake and Hope and desperately wanting to know their history and their future, but I loved it. Hard. Blake has the opportunity to get hitched to Hope again and he’s not going to say no. He’s had real feelings for her for a long time and now he’s getting the chance to show her how great they can be together. He’s sweet, sensitive, sexy and romantic. Swoon! Hope doesn’t know what love looks like and she’s afraid, but Blake isn’t going to walk away and he’s going to love her until she understands. He’s all in. He loves her animals, her electromagnetic energy and her heart. I enjoyed this story. So. Much! Hope is fun, quirky and loyal and Blake is protective, sexy and funny. I loved seeing his brothers and their loves and their family and friends. The animals so also great secondary characters! Chewpaca is the best! Overall, I laughed out loud a lot, smiled, giggled, swooned, cheered and laughed some more! I can’t wait for more from this series!

“So I expect we’ll be fine from here on out. Now that you’ve come to terms with the fact that I’m your alpha alpaca?”

“Oh, please. It’s clear that I’m the alpha alpaca. I have a much fluffier, more glorious pelt. But that’s okay. I like beta males.”

“I am not your beta, woman.”

Kara's Review

4.5 out of 5 stars

Imitation of Life is the second book in the Rock Bottom series by the talented Felice Stevens. I’m loving this series about these men who have been through hell and have risen up and survived. We met Benny in Broken Silence. He’s Justin’s best friend and he’s such a good guy! He’s worked hard his whole life and now he has a new job and a plan to move him and his sister to a new and better home. He’s been in love with Gino for a long time, but Gino doesn’t see him. Or so he thought. Gino grew up with no family and didn’t have it easy. He thinks the only way to get someone to like him is to use sex. Benny knows Gino sleeps around, but he still cares about him.  After Gino’s world falls apart, Benny is there to pick him up. Benny and Gino’s story isn’t easy. But they are both survivors and they save each other with their love and affection. I love Benny’s sister, Chloe! She’s smart and adorable! This love story was hard to read at time. What they went through was maddening and sad! Felice wrote it with grace, compassion and love. I’m looking forward to more in the series!

I have always been a romantic at heart. I believe that while life is tough, there is always a happy ending around the corner, my characters have to work for it, however. Like life in NYC, nothing comes easy and that includes love.I live in New York City with my husband and two children and hopefully soon a cat of my own. My day begins with a lot of caffeine and ends with a glass or two of red wine. I practice law but daydream of a time when I can sit by a beach somewhere and write beautiful stories of men falling in love. Although there is bound to be a few bumps along the way, a Happily Ever After is always guaranteed.

Release Day Blitz & Review – It’s Not Over, Lacey Black & Kaylee Ryan

July 23, 2019 By

Title: It’s Not Over
Authors: Kaylee Ryan & Lacey Black
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: July 23, 2019

Blurb
GwenLately, life definitely isn’t how I envisioned it. I had it all. The house, the
job, the husband. Until one day, I didn’t. I don’t know when exactly things
started to change between us, only that it did, and in a big way. So much so, I
found myself standing before a judge and signing off on the end of my marriage.
To the only man, I’ve ever loved.

Now, he’s back, fighting, and ready to prove to me that we made a mistake, that
our love is worth giving this another chance. I’m not sure if he’s right, but I
know what my heart wants, and it wants him. My ex-husband.

Harrison

Why is it that you don’t know the depths of your mistakes until you’ve already
made them? I knew signing those papers was a bad idea, but I thought that’s
what she wanted. The minute we stepped foot out of that courtroom, it hit me.
She’s no longer mine.

That’s when I also realized, that I would do anything to change the past. I
have so many regrets. Not her. I could never regret her, but how we ended. We
never should have ended. I’m in for the battle of my life to convince her to
give us another shot. I have a plan, one that will prove to her that, it’s not
over.

5 out of 5 stars
It’s Not Over is the first novel by the duo of Lacey Black and Kaylee Ryan. I have read every word Lacey has written and loved each and every one of them. And this is actually the first piece of work I have read by Kaylee and I know it won’t be my last. Together, these two have made co-writing look easy, from the reader’s point of view. They blended perfectly. I don’t want to spoil anything so I will try to make this quick.
They had it all. Love. Family. Friends. A home. Careers. Harrison as an gym owner. Winnie as a preschool teacher. They never fell out of love with each other but it wasn’t enough. Their lives were in sync one day and then the next it wasn’t. That’s how it felt anyway. It was a slow progression that hit hard at the end. It was all about communication and they didn’t have it. Harrison worked long hours. Winnie was home waiting for him. It wasn’t the life they planned.
Harrison didn’t want the divorce. He thought that’s what she wanted and he would do anything to make Winnie happy. So he signed the papers and immediately regretted it. He was ready to fight for her like he should have when he left her on the couch months ago. This time he was not letting her go. He had more reason to fight. He knows what it’s like to lose her. He can’t let it happen again.
Winnie missed her husband. Ex-husband. She will always love him but she had to let him go. But now he is back. Fighting for her. Fighting for them. Harrison blamed himself but Winnie takes the blame as well. It takes two. Can she risk falling even more in love with her ex-husband when there is a chance it can fall apart again?
I swooned so hard with this one. Harrison doesn’t pull any stops. He is full steam ahead. He wants to date his wife. To woo her all over again. He wants his wife back. Forever.
Overall…I fell hard. For the characters. For the writing. For the story. For the secondary characters. It really had it all. I laughed. I cried. I felt their love. I wanted to cut a bitch. I wanted to give Winnie a hug and Harrison encouragement. I also wanted to be there to witness Chase (Harrison’s best friend) and Gabby’s (Winnie’s sister) banter. Omg! Their story is going to be epic.
Quotes:
“I’m sorry, but fuck, Gwendolyn, you’re my fucking heart. I don’t know what to do without you.”
“Don’t be afraid, Winnie. I let you down once, but I’d rather die than do it a second time. Trust me.”
My sister smiles sweetly. “I’ve missed you too, Chase. But at this range, I’m sure to hit my target.”
5 out of 5 stars

It’s Not Over is the first book co-authored by Lacey Black and Kaylee Ryan. I’m a long time fan of Lacey, but this is my first Kaylee book. I thought they did a fantastic job writing together and this is just the beginning! It’s Not Over is a unique love story. Gwen and Harrison are it for each other. The love of their life. But things took a turn and they ended up signing divorce papers. That’s not the end though. It’s just a new beginning. Harrison isn’t going to stop fighting for his wife. She’ll always be his love, his life, his wife. Gwen isn’t so sure. She doesn’t want to get her heart broken again, but she can’t deny he’s it for her. Her other half. Once Harrison convinces her to fight again, it’s on! He’s not making the same mistakes again. He’s not giving up. He’s never losing her again. Gwen is more cautious, but she loves him. It’s not going to be easy, but it’s going to be worth it. They were meant to be together and they made a mistake getting divorced. I loved watching them fall in love again. They never stopped loving, they just stopped seeing each other. Harrison is a force to be reckoned with and Gwen never stood a chance. It’s sexy, funny, emotional, sweet, romantic and steamy. I’m already looking forward to Chase and Gabby’s story!

Release Blitz, Excerpt & *Giveaway* – Deviate, Mia Monroe

Title: Deviate
Series: Love in the City #1
Author: Mia Monroe
Genre: Contemporary MM Romance
Release Date: July 15, 2019
Blurb
Falling for him was not part of the plan.
It was the
perfect plan. I would marry one of my closest friends and reap the financial rewards.
He needed a savior right when I showed up on my white horse. We’d been friends
for years, so now we’d be glorified roommates. No one had to know two straight
guys decided to tie the knot. We agreed nothing would change. We’d just go on
with our normal lives.
That was
the plan until I started to notice more about him than just his laid back vibe.
I started to look forward to coming home. I lived to talk books, art, and love.
Suddenly, we were both feeling things that didn’t make any sense. We didn’t
date men. We had to make a decision – act on the attraction or try to pretend
it wasn’t there.
One thing
about perfect plans – sometimes you have to deviate.

Excerpt
As I hand him my wine glass, our hands brush together
causing both of us to pause. My eyes shift to his, and my brow furrows as the
strangest thought settles over me.
“Something wrong?” Quinn asks.
I blink rapidly, taking a moment to ground myself.
“Jason? You okay?”
“Yes.” I clear my throat. “I’m fine.”
“You looked like you were gonna be sick.”
I swallow hard. “Um, no it passed. Maybe too much wine. I’m good.”
Quinn smiles. “Okay. Want some water?”
“I can get it.”
I stumble to the fridge, reaching in for a bottle of water, but still reeling
from the urge I had to fight back. I wanted to kiss him. Or him to kiss me. I
wanted my male friend to fucking kiss me. Again. Work has been keeping me so
busy, it’s been easy to avoid the feelings, but they’re back. When he touches
my shoulder, I jump back, startled.
Quinn raises his hand. “Sorry, man. You sure you’re okay? You’re acting really
strange.”
I couldn’t tell him. No way. That would be an invitation. Or admitting
something I’m not sure I want to admit.
“I think I’ll sit down for a minute.”
“Good idea. I’ll finish up in here.”
In the living room, I sink into the couch, rubbing my forehead. My mind shifts
back to the night we kissed and Quinn said it was no big deal. But it was.
Because I liked it. A few minutes ago, I was tempted to do it again. What is it
about the guy that makes me feel such strange things? And what would he do if I
actually kissed him?
When he appears again, my breath catches, but I hope he didn’t notice. He sits
on the edge of the coffee table directly in front of me and puts his hands on
both my knees.
“Are you sure you don’t need to see a doctor?” he asks. “You’re still really
pale.”
“I’m Irish. I’m always pale.”
Quinn smiles, softly shaking his head. “Your sense of humor is intact at
least.” He studies my eyes. “You’re sure you’re okay?”
Could I tell him? “I, um, just have a lot on my mind.”
“Okay. Let’s talk. That’s why I’m here. Do you need advice? I don’t know much
about your world, but maybe I can help.”
“It’s nothing.”
“Is it your business?”
“No.”
“Personal then. Something between you and me? Something you want to tell me?”
“Quinn…”
He nods, still holding my gaze. “It is me. Did I do something wrong?”
“No.” I shake my head. “Not at all.”
He stands and as he does my eyes follow him, taking in his masculine body. He
moves beside me. “Tell me what’s going on, Jason. I can take it.”
“Um, well, maybe it’s just the wine, but um…” I can’t tell him.
Quinn moves to his knees on the floor in front of me so I’m forced to look at
him again. “What?”
I don’t say a word. Instead, I just lean in and press my lips on his then sit
back abruptly.
A slow smile spreads on Quinn’s lips. “You wanted to kiss me?”
“I guess I did.”
“That’s okay.”
We sit silently for a moment until Quinn slides his hand up my neck, settling
it just under my hair. He pulls me to him and kisses me again, softly, letting
his lips linger on mine. Then he releases me.
“That was nice,” he whispers. “Did you think so?”
I nod. “Yeah, Quinn. It was nice, but—”
“Shh. No buts. We don’t need to break it down right now.”
My brow furrows. “Are you sure?”
“I am sure. It’s just something we both wanted to do, and that’s cool.” He
grins. “We are married after all.”
I laugh softly. “We’re not that kind of married.”
He shrugs. “Maybe we are.” He takes my hand in his. “Or maybe we will be one
day. I think we just…” He tilts his head, fixing those amazing eyes on me.
“Just let it happen.”
“It?”
“Whatever it is. I’m down with that. Are you?”

life, but she’s back.
Except she’s not my second chance. She’s gone to the dark side.
