Blog Tour & 5 Heart Review – Tears of Ink, Anna Bloom

Title: Tears of Ink
Series: Tears of #1
Author: Anna Bloom
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: November 6, 2018
Blurb
She has one rule: Never sleep with someone twice.
Faith Hitchin wears the shadows of the past on her skin for
all to see. To a stranger’s eye, she is a girl with sass and tattoos, a lover
of art. But beneath the mystery of swirls and ink, she is woman alone and in
pain.
When opportunity knocks in the form of an invitation to an
art project that could change the direction of her life, she’s afraid to move
forward. But, like her namesake, she pushes past all inhibitions and takes a
leap of Faith. The last thing she imagines is a summer of self-discovery at the
hands of a sexy Baroness’ son.
Elijah Fairclough is arrogant yet charming, complicated but
forthcoming. With his blue eyes, expensive suits and evasive attitude, it seems
he’s used to getting what he wants, and he wants nothing more than to discover
the woman beneath the tattoos in every way possible. Will Elijah’s persistence
make her break her only rule, or will there be tears of ink?
Tears of Ink is the first book in the Tears Of…duet By Anna Bloom. It is also the first book I have read by Anna, and I know it won’t be my last. She has gained a new fan in me. I will admit that I signed up to review it because the cover caught my eye. It’s beautiful and so was the words inside.
Faith has her rules. Number one being that she never went back for seconds. No attachments. No emotions. One and done. She has never broken this rule. Ever. The men she was with didn’t complain. They only wanted to get their rocks off too. Then walk away. The rule is there for a reason. And one of them just walked into her life. Elijah Fairclough.
He is a man she could get lost in. Even with his over-active ego at their first meeting. After spending time together, she discovers he has two sides to him. She is torn between trusting either of them. Now, that she has spent time at his family’s home working as an artist, she is starting to understand why he is so hot and cold. She thought her family was fucked up. His is even more. She grew up in a tattoo parlor. He grew up in a castle. Both of them wish to feel free.
I don’t want to spoil anything so I will leave it at that. I will say that I loved Faith and Eli. Their banter. Their heat. Their connection. Their complications. It was an addicting story. It was also beautiful, funny, and emotional. I also enjoyed the secondary characters and the art throughout the book. I felt her passion for it.
Overall…it was a fantastic read. Poetic. Witty. Fresh. Addicting. I can’t wait for the next book. Thank you Anna for not making it a long wait.
Quotes:
He gives a small shake of his head. “You’re like a razor.”
“Don’t get too close then,” I retort.
“Seriously, this is very Flowers in the Attic. Are you taking me to where you’ve been locked up your whole childhood?”
This guy, he confuses me. Makes me want to run, makes me want to stay. Makes me question everything.

Soulmate is the fourth book in the Rascals series by the very talented, Katie McCoy. It can be read as standalone but I do recommend reading the series. It’s full of sexiness, sweetness, and swoon. I have been waiting for Sawyer’s story and it was totally worth the wait.
Five years. It’s been five years since Gabi ghosted her college best friend, Sawyer on Graduation night. She had to move from Chicago to DC to get a fresh start. She could not go another night of him looking at her like a friend while he was on the prowl for a one night stand. Her heart could not take it so she ran. Now, she was back and she was prepared. She was going to avoid him. That was the plan anyway until she saw him. Looking even better than before.
Sawyer can’t believe Gabi was back. He missed her. Her friendship meant the world to him in college. She was the only girl he could talk to about well, anything. She was feisty from the moment he met her. She wasn’t like the other girls. She wasn’t fake. She wore baggy clothes and kept her nose in a book. They had the best friendship until she disappeared. He found out later she moved to DC but he let her go. But now that she was back he wasn’t going to let her go again.
Sawyer never saw Gabi. She was now determined to make him see her. She has changed over the years. She wasn’t a tomboy. She found fashion. She found herself. A badass woman with needs. Needs she knows Sawyer could satisfy if he saw her. Not just as a friend. She knew it wouldn’t be easy. He was scared of commitment. If he knew the feelings she had for him, he would run. But maybe just maybe, he will think she is worth the risk.
I loved this one! The whole series really. They just keep getting better and better. Sexier and sexier. More and more emotional. I liked Sawyer in the previous books but I fell completely in this one. And Gabi. I love her! She knows what she wants and goes for it. She knows Sawyer. The ways to make him tick. His cues. I felt like I was right there with them in the room. They are real. Raw. Sexy.
Overall…it’s one of my faves of the series! The characters are fantastic. The writing is addicting. The story is real. I can’t wait for the next book. Dante is in so much trouble!
Quotes:
I was head-over-heels in love with him, but he just didn’t feel the same. Not even close. He didn’t see me.
“Don’t worry,” I said softly. “I’ll be gentle. I promise.” He looked at me for a long moment, and I swear, I almost combusted.
“Are you just going to stand there staring or are you going to do something about that?”

Seven years ago,
I gave my vow to a man.
Except it wasn’t at a wedding…
Because Brett Jackson was the epitome of anti-marriage–a
dirty-talking tattoo artist with a penchant for booze, bimbos and blue-eyed
women.
I was none of
those.
Guess that’s why he walks into my new apartment with my not-so-nice
roommate on his arm…as her new boyfriend.
But this is not seven years ago. I’m over him; I really am.
So why does it bother me so much when he catches me naked in my new
place? Why does his searing stare at my body stay with me?
Why am I wishing for a repeat and wanting to break the most
important vow I’ve ever made?
A vow that will break both me and Brett…and
turn the Manhattan life I’ve built for myself upside down.

Sandra's Review

The Vow is Natalie’s newest sexy standalone. I have read every word this author has written and have enjoyed them all. Her writing just keeps getting better and better. It’s been amazing following her journey as a writer. Now, it’s time to talk about this vow.
It’s been seven years since Elsie saw the boy who took her innocence and broke her heart. Now they are in the same city. She isn’t the same girl she was before. The one who made a vow to that same boy. She is stronger. More determined. And he certainly isn’t the same boy. He is all man. Broad shouldered. Tattooed. And even more of a dick. She didn’t want to ask for his help but she was stuck in a city she didn’t know anyone else. A city that could eat her alive if she let it. New York City where dreams are made or crushed. She was there to sing. To prove to herself and others that she was good enough.
Brett and Elsie thought their shared past was just that. In the past. It’s been years since they were in the same room but when they are once again, those feelings are still there. Hate. Love. Sexual tension beyond belief. They don’t know if they want to strangle or fuck each other. They both have their reasons for staying away from one another. The big one being Kayla, Brett’s younger sister and Elsie’s best friend. But can they keep their hands off each other while in the same city? Especially when the city seems so small. Can they let go of the past so they can conquer this city, together?
I loved this story!! Something about second chances just gets to me. The mistakes made. The emotional ride. The angst. The heat. The hate. The love. With Brett and Elsie is all of those things.
Overall…This is one of my favorite books by Natalie! The characters are both lovable and stubborn as hell. The writing kicks ass. The story made me laugh out loud, cry, and get all kinds of hot and bothered. The sexual tension makes it even hotter. And the added suspense pulled me in even more.
P.S. I can’t wait for the next book!!
P.P.S There is no cheating.
Quotes:
Even in high school, my best friend’s older brother is a man amongst boys.
The rain reflects my mood, drumming down incessantly like the lyrics of a sad love song.
“It’s my pleasure to end your pain, Miss Carpenter.”

The Vow is Natalie Wrye’s newest gem. I’m a newish fan of Natalie’s but I’m a forever fan now! I’m a sucker for a good second chance romance and The Vow is perfection. Best friend’s brother. Teenage lust. Grown up love. It’s sticky and forbidden, but oh so good! Brett and Elsie had a few amazing nights together a long time ago. Now they are all grown up and in the same city. Elsie isn’t the innocent girl anymore and Brett definitely isn’t the teenage boy he was. He’s sexy, tatted and doing very well for himself. When Elsie finds herself alone and with nowhere to go she only has one choice. Call Brett. She doesn’t want to see him. Doesn’t want those old feelings to come back. He walked away and broke her heart. Brett can’t believe how gorgeous she is. He never forgot her and seeing her again is a kick in the heart. If he touches her again he’s going to fight for her and never let her go. Can they take the chance that they were denied in the past? Will they finally give in to their desire and take the chance together? I loved this story! I love how Natalie weaves in sexiness, angst, suspense, humor, friendship and family. I already need more Brett and Elsie.

Excerpt
Breathless, my body shaking, I pull back just as our kiss
begins to deepen, my lips tender to the touch as I lick them. I look up at the
brown-haired Adonis holding me close, inhaling as deep as I can. I let go of a
shaky breath.
“What are you doing?”

Brett blinks. “What you won’t. What I shouldn’t.” He kisses me chastely,
pulling back. “What we need.” He grins. “I couldn’t hold back any longer.”

“You make us sound like dogs on a leash.”

He snorts on a soft laugh, his stare scanning over my lips. “If anyone’s a dog
here, it’s me. But I can’t deny you, Elsie.” He gaze goes back up to mine. “I
can’t deny this. I know we made a promise. To never cross this line again. But
there’s a reason we’re both here in New York. There’s a reason for right now.
To be honest… I don’t know what the hell it really is.” His aqua eyes glow.
“But I know I want to explore it.” His voice lowers. “Explore you… If you let
me, Elsie. All of this—everything—is up to you.”

But I can’t think, let alone move or talk while our bodies are so close. He
smells like the rain. Clean and crisp. A fresh, lightly smoky scent, the skin
that is pressed against me as is almost as intoxicating as the stare—the one
that intensely searches mine, excavating answers, digging deep enough to find
only fucking desire, I’m sure. I’m so turned on I can’t speak. My voice is
little more than a sigh. I bite my bottom lip, trying to control my tongue.

I fail.

“We can’t throw caution to the wind, Brett. We have Kayla to think about. And
even if we didn’t, we have history, too much past. We’ve practically watched
each other grow up. Stayed in the same houses.” I scoff out loud, a blush
hitting my cheeks that I can feel burn. “For God’s sake, you’ve seen
everything. You’ve seen me at my worst.”

He chuckles, a seductive low sound. “My sexy sweet Elsie. You don’t get it, do
you? In my eyes… you have no worst.”

Release & Review – The Tenth Girl, Carrie Aarons

September 9, 2018 By

Title: The Tenth Girl
Author: Carrie Aarons
Genre: New Adult/Young Adult
Release Date: September 9, 2018
Blurb
Never play a game
you can’t win.
For Cain Kent, that rule is golden. Losing is not in his vocabulary, and up until
now, everything has come easy. Football, school, girls … his charm-laced ego
may just be bigger than Texas itself.

The competition he started freshman year with his friends, to make ten notches
each in their bedposts by graduation day, is practically in the bag. One more
to go, and then it’s off to college fame and eventually, the big time.
Attachments aren’t something he wants to form, but when the quiet new girl
challenges him in front of his classmates, his curiosity is peaked. She would
be the perfect final score, and what fun to break her in the process.

Too bad Harper Posy has no intention of being just another warm body,
especially to the bad boy quarterback. Even if he does quote Forster and Huxley
when no one is listening. An aspiring author herself, Cain and his hidden soft
side are dangerous to her heart. She’s seen men ruin her mother’s dreams time
and again, and she’s determined to fly far away as soon as she has that diploma
in her fist.

But as the school year’s end looms closer, both realize they didn’t quite
understand the rules to begin with. Is winning a dirty bet worth the gamble
when the stakes, or the other’s heart in this case, are so high?

Harper is the one girl who isn’t up for playing games. And she just might make
Cain lose. Everything.

Sandra's Review

The Tenth Girl is a Mature YA by the very talented, Carrie Aarons. I have had the pleasure of reading most of her books and have enjoyed them all. She always comes up with a unique storyline.
Cain was riding high. He was the star quarterback for his high school team. He already signed a deal with the college of his choice. He had his brothers on the field and girls lined up for him off it. He was entering his senior year at the top of the competition. The one he became a part of during his freshmen year. First one to have sex with ten girls wins. He was at nine. He didn’t want an easy win. That wasn’t him. He wanted a challenge and she came in the form of the new girl on campus, Harper Posy.
Harper was new to the state of Texas. She was a Florida girl. Her mom wanted her to spend time in her hometown for her senior year so here they were, in the heart of Texas. Where football players were kings and cheerleaders were their queens. She just wanted to be. To study. Graduate. Finish her book and travel the world. Then, she saw him. The cockiest boy in school. Cain Kent. King of the jocks. And for some reason he called her out. Well, she did technically call him out first but now, he was relentless. He was everywhere. And for some reason, he wanted her. For what? She only needed one guess for that one. But, he picked the wrong girl, she wouldn’t let him in that easy.
I thought this story was unique, funny, flirty, and smart. It also has some steam. Cain is definitely cocksure. Harper is definitely not having it. She sees through him and then he shocks her with moments of the real Cain Kent. Not the star player on and off the field but the man who quotes the classics. She isn’t sure what his game is. She does know that she should stay away from him but he pulls her in. That is something about him that makes her want to trust in him. Can she? Can she trust him or is she just a victory to him?
Overall…I loved it. The story. The characters. The writing. I don’t always read YA but Carrie writes them amazingly well. They are mature in a way but I also need to remember these are teens. I have to remember how I would react as a teen not as an adult.
Quotes:
What are they doing? Why are they here? The suspense novel reader and writer in me has to know.
That boy is like venom to my veins, paralyzing and scorching all at the same time.
“You know I only use my greatest pickup lines on you, darlin’.” I wink.

Kristi Lynn

Kristi Lynn
is a certified book whore who has been getting lost in the words of others for
years. After going through a tough time a few years back, she decided to put
pen to paper as a means to heal. Stories started coming out of nowhere and the
decision was made to self-publish. Kristi lives in Connecticut with her rescue
pup Jazmine. Coffee is her elixir of choice, followed closely by good sangria,
or captain and coke. Music is playing 24/7 around her and she is often singing
along (watch those ears, she never claimed to be a good singer). Fall and football
season are her preferred time of year (Go Pats! And Julian Edelman is her
husband. She has the shirt to prove it.) She lives in flip flops year round
(except when mother nature showers her in that blasted white stuff New England
is known for in the winter). She swears like a sailor, and has and addiction to
finding the perfect quotes for any occasion. She loves to connect with new
people, so don’t be shy.

Behind every great hatred there may be a love story, but behind the face of an angel and his sweet words was nothing but pretty little lies.
My hatred for Noah Hill really did start as love – hard as it is to believe.
A love that was the earth-shattering, forever type that not everyone is fortunate enough to experience in their lifetime… or so I thought.
Take a picture, it’ll last longer.
That’s what he said to me.
That was the biggest lie of them all.
Because the broken heart remained long after the pictures burned.

Author: Carrie Aarons
Genre: New Adult/Young Adult

Release Date: September 9, 2018

And she just might make
Cain lose. Everything.

Heartbreaker is the third book in the Rascals series. It can be read as standalone but I do recommend reading the previous books  either before or after this one. They are so much fun! I just love this group of bar owners and the women who tame them.
Juliet needs a fresh start. Liam needs to take the stick out of his ass. She has to adjust to her new life without dance. She wants to be spontaneous, eat carbs, and have fun past nine p.m. He has set his goals years ago. He doesn’t like surprises. Juliet is the ultimate surprise. One he didn’t see coming.
Liam has a type and Juliet definitely was not it but he wanted her. He didn’t want to want her but there was just something about her that made him going back for more. It started as a kiss. One that turned into one night then two. Until…he couldn’t stay away. She made him laugh. She made him think. She made him lose control. She scared him. He has never felt this way toward a woman but she was not who he was looking for in a partner. Can he let go of control and take a risk? A risk on her. A risk on himself. A risk for them or will he keep looking for Miss Perfect on Paper?
I love Liam! I might even have a girl crush on Juliet. I loved seeing all the sides of him with her. He just has this sexiness to him with his suit and tie. And his hotness in his workout gear. But my favorite was when he laughed. Juliet did that to him. She was infectious. The way she was letting go of his own routine type of life. It was so fun!
Overall…it was the perfect addition to the series! It’s funny, smart, emotional, and sexy. The characters are lovable. The friendships are amazing. The writing is addicting. I can’t wait for the next book. Sawyer is going to be knocked on his ass.
Quotes:
“It was a last-minute request.” I put the pie on the counter and turned to face him.
“A request?” he asked, putting his hands on the counter, on either side of my hips. “I was pretty sure that was a demand.”
“Is everyone pairing up?” one of the guys—the one I assumed was Sawyer—asked.
“You can be Dante’s date,” Liam teased.
“I don’t put out,” Dante replied dryly.
My world had become bigger, just because she’d walked into it. And that scared me.

Wow!! I don’t even know where to start with this review. I have started over more than a few times already. Ok, I am going to make this short.
Hannah was a model student. A best friend. A exceptional daughter. Someone who dreamed of a future. One to mold students as a teacher. She didn’t party. She was even called a nerd. And all it took was six months for her to hit rock bottom. As an addict. Meth was her salvation. Her enemy. Her everything. There were only two things she thought about about the moment she had her first hit. One, how she was going to get her next. And two, the man who supposedly loved her. That was her new life. The one that she thought was a better one. That is what ice does to someone. It brings out the delusions. It makes you chase the next high. No matter who or what gets in the way.
That is all I can really say about Hannah’s journey. This is not a romance. It does not involve hearts and flowers. It involves pipes and hotels. It’s not an easy read. I read the warnings. I had to read it anyway. I have not been an addict myself but I have had family and friends go through some of the same experiences. It’s so hard to witness. Even harder to get them to want to help themselves.
Overall…I love that Margaret writes books that need to be written. The stories need to be told. They are real. They are important. I have two daughters and you know what I did today? I talked to them about drugs and alcohol. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from, drugs do not discriminate. They are everywhere. They can grab and hold on to anyone. Like I said, I have seen it. I had my own experiences with a few drugs in my high school days. It was over twenty years ago when something bad happened to myself and I still will not drink wine because of it. It stays with you. Forever.
P.S. I am in love with this cover.
Quotes:
“I can’t leave you alone. You’re mine,” he says.
“What? I’m not yours, I’m not anyone’s. I’m my own person.”
He’s making my body sing, sparking alive as a hazardous fire rips through me, risking my sanity and safety.
“For you, I’d walk to the end of the earth, and still have the strength to kill anyone who’d hurt you. But when you’re hurting yourself, that breaks not only my heart, but my soul.”

NEW YORK TIMES BEST SELLER OF UGLY AND MISTRUST

**Write something worth reading**
I’m Margaret and I’m a self-published author.
Recently I was fortunate in obtaining New York Times best selling status on my YA/NA book – Ugly, and my YA book – Mistrust.
My last three books have been YA and I’m completely in love with the genre. I love being able to communicate with people through my words and stories.
My writing genres all differ, but the one thing I keep consistent is my heroines. All my female lead characters are strong, gutsy and not the ‘perfect’ woman. While my books all have romantic elements in them, they aren’t just about the romance. They’re about finding strength, acceptance and making life long connections.
I hope you enjoy my stories as much as I have while writing them.
