Seven

I have read many of Carrie’s books and I love that each one has a unique storyline. I just know that I will laugh, tear up, and get angry when I open one of her books. I definitely did with As Long As You Hate Me.
Seven years. It’s been seven years since Kara’s heart was broken by her high school sweetheart. Since that day, she has avoided everything Dean Jacobs. It’s not easy when he is splattered all over the Internet, magazines, T.V, and radio. She can’t look at him without thinking about the boy she loved. In the last seven years she has moved forward without him. It wasn’t easy but she went to medical school while he was in LA becoming famous as a musician. Apparently writing songs about their love. The only thing she can’t hate about him is that he hasn’t told the world who those lyrics were about. That was until now.
Dean knows Kara hates him. He understands it even but he never stopped caring about her. His lyrics were real. He never wanted to hurt her. She was his everything. That was why he stayed away but now, he needs her. His fame has caught him in a fucked up situation and she is the only one who can get him out of it. One year. That’s all he needs. He can give her everything she needs to start a life outside of her parent’s home and out of debt. He hopes she will help him but also listen to him. To show her that he has never stopped thinking about her. About their love. About it all.
Dean and Kara have their past. There were mistakes made. Now this is their chance to be real. But first, they have to open their minds, hearts, and souls. They have to listen to each other. It’s not easy. Kara is hot and cold. Dean is sometimes quite the asshole. Ugh. I am still thinking about one scene where I wanted to slap him. Anyway, can they be real in the fake land of Hollywood?
Overall…it’s another great book in Carrie’s collection. I very much enjoyed Dean and Kara’s story. The writing is heartfelt. I can tell Carrie loved her characters and wanted them to get it together. Their story is full of passion. In everything. The fights. The lust. The love. The hate.
Quotes:
“I haven’t known you for seven years. I don’t know who you are anymore, Dean.”
“She’s just so cold, Patty, I feel like I’m trying to coax a deadly snake into listening to me.” The warm breeze brushes past my face.
“No lyric, no spoken word, can ever compare to you like this.”

Move over, Colin Firth – there’s a new Darcy in town!

Jax Hawthorne is Hollywood’s sexiest bad boy. I’m a
glorified secretary who thinks color-coding my library is a wild Friday night.
So when he shows up after all this time wanting to make good on our childhood
deal to tie the knot, it’s not because he can’t resist my perfect credit score.

He needs a fake girlfriend to rehab his reckless image, and
I’m the (safe, sensible) girl for the job. I would be insulted… if the proposal
didn’t come with an all-expenses-paid trip to England while he shoots a new
movie version of ’Pride & Prejudice.’

Goodbye, my dumpster fire of a dating life. Hello, steamy
nights with a chiseled hunk who knows all the right moves.

Soon, I’m knee-deep in the English mud – and on-set drama.
But all our fake-smoldering is getting my very real panties in a twist. It turns
out, Jax is so much more than just a reckless playboy. He makes me want to
forget our ‘arrangement’.. and break all the rules.

Can our pretend romance turn to something real? Or will
scheming actresses, control-freak PR crews, and a pesky little thing called
love ruin the best (fake) relationship of my life?

Find out in the hot, hilarious new romance from Katie McCoy!

Heartthrob is the third book in the Allstars series. Each book can totally be read as standalone. I somehow missed reading the first book (Royal Player) but I did read Hot Bachelor and loved it. If you happened to read it too then you might remember Penny as Paige’s older and sensible sister. This is her story and it’s a fun, flirty, and sexy one…
Jax needs a fake girlfriend to get the part of his dreams. Penny needs to prove to herself that she can be fun and spontaneous. So why not agree to be an old friend’s girlfriend and spend a few weeks in the countryside of England on a movie set? And to watch the sexiest man alive play Mr. Darcy…that’s a huge bonus!! Penny doesn’t take risks but this could be the biggest risk of them all. Especially when the relationship doesn’t feel fake. It feels as real as his six pack.
Jax and Penny have a complicated relationship. It’s suppose to be fake for the press but it feels too real. But, is it all in her head? Jax has always said he would never marry for love. He would only marry for friendship. That was why they made the pact fifteen years ago. Will he lose a friend over the part of a lifetime?
Overall…I loved this book. The characters are so much fun but have real life issues. The writing has a perfect mix of humor, sex, and emotion. It also has its twists. I am very excited about the next book, Sex God.
Quotes:
“You’re breaking my heart.”
“I thought Hollywood removed that years ago,” I shot back.
“Sorry about that,” he told me. “You’re welcome to hang out on set today, or explore the town, if you want.” He took out his wallet and handed me a credit card.
“Jax.” I tried to give it back. “We’re not in Pretty Woman here!”
“I’ve got my eyes on you, Hawthorne,” she said, but her voice was softer.

her way out of.
As Walker Gibson looks at her, then at the damage to his precious truck (that

downright sinful man in front of her that’s the problem. The small town mechanic is broody. Rough. Smells like engine grease and
gasoline and Sienna isn’t sure why that’s so sexy, but it is. It so is. She’s
ready to peel off her panties at the drop of his wrench. He wants her too. She can feel it when he brushes against her. Experience it as
he presses her against the wall of the shop. It’s thinly veiled in his deep,
brown eyes when he looks at her like she’s everything he’s ever wanted. So why
won’t he give in?

The damage to Walker’s truck is the first of many mistakes between the two of
them, ending with truths that rock Sienna’s world. Nothing can fix her broken
heart except the love of a man that won’t, maybe even can’t, love her back.

I wish I could just say that Crank is perfection and leave it at that. Every word, every breath, every emotion. Just perfect. Adriana Locke is one of the few authors who knows family. She writes family and loyalty. She has brought us blood families and friendships stronger than blood. And yes, we loved the Landrys, but listen to me. I love the Gibsons more. Yes, I said it. They are not better per se, just different and yet similar. Just trust me and READ IT! The Gibsons are blue collar. Hard working. Mouthy. Dirty. Men. They have everyday jobs and close relationships with their siblings, cousins and their grandma. They live in a small town where everyone knows your business. They have normal struggles like money, loss, relationship issues, work stress and nosy family members. They are real. Crank is Walker and Sienna’s story. He’s a grease monkey who took over his dad’s auto shop. It’s just what he knows and it pays the bills. Sienna Landry, we know well. I’ve loved her for a long time. She’s strong, sassy, smart and is just trying to find her way. This might be my favorite meet cute ever! Walker’s precious trunk meets Sienna’s practice swing. It’s everything! But that’s just the start. She’s going to see him every day in his tight t-shirts and jeans and rough, sexy hands. Lord have mercy. The attraction has Sienna’s skin sizzling. What is it about this broody, grumpy man that gets to her? Walker knows he needs to stay away from Sienna. She’s everything good that he doesn’t deserve. He tries to push her away, but he just can’t stay away anymore. Will being with her cure his need or cause him to go over the edge? Just when he thinks he might be able to let himself be happy the past comes back to get him. Will he fight for love or lose the only woman who ever got him? I loved this story. So much! I loved the comradery, the banter, the teasing, the sexiness, the sass, the heart, the love. These brothers are going to make us all swoon to death! When I start a new series, I always have a favorite, but I can’t decide between these Gibson boys. It’s not a tough spot to be in either! I can’t wait for more!

Cute doesn’t cut it. He’s so far beyond cute that I’m not sure there’s been a word created to encompass it all. He’s not good-looking like the guys I usually date. Those guys are clean-shaven, hair gelled, politically-correct boys I’ve met at a fashion event or political rally. Walker is … not. He’s nothing of the sort.

Walker: Go back to doing what you were doing. I’m going to bed. You exhaust me.

Me: Must’ve been all those dirty thoughts you’ve been thinking about me all evening.

Walker: Maybe.

Me: See? That’s a yes.

Sandra's Review

Crank is the first book in the Gibson Boys series. If you read Adriana’s Landry’s series then you have already met Miss Sienna Landry. I love that Adriana has crossed her over to a new series! She loves her family but she doesn’t fit the mold like her other siblings. She enjoys her freedom outside of politics, social events, and the family businesses. She is not a wild child but she wants something different for herself. And that is what brought her to Linton, Illinois a year ago. To run a designing business with her best friend Delaney. She didn’t know how much the move would change her life…
It all started with an accident that brought out the Gibson Boys. They were strangers to Sienna and Delaney but something was different when Sienna locked eyes with the owner of the truck she just hit. He was not the type of man that she would have dated back in Savannah. But even with his scowl and cranky-ass attitude he made her feel hot all over. Nervous even. Something she never was even in the rooms of politicians and celebrities. After everything is said and done the next morning she realizes she has to see him again in a few days. At his auto repair shop. She can’t stop thinking about him and after seeing him again she still can’t read this man. This sexy as sin man who smells like grease and heartbreak. She was going to just walk away but something was telling her that he was different. That if she walked away that she would regret it.
Walker knew he shouldn’t have listened to his dumbass cousin Peck. Now, he has to see Sienna more than he should. He was already thinking about her too much. He tired to push her away but for some reason she pushed back. He knew she was a woman who always got exactly what she wanted but he couldn’t let her get him. Yes. He wanted her laid out on his desk and all over his shop but he couldn’t go there. She wasn’t even sure if she was staying in Illinois. He knew if he had one taste of the woman who brought chaos to his brain, muffins to his shop, and smiles to customers then he wouldn’t want to let her go. Can Walker keep his distance from Sienna or will he give into what everyone around them sees? A woman who makes him happy.
I loved, loved, loved this story! I have been waiting patiently for Sienna’s story and the wait was so fucking worth it. I love the Landry’s so hard and knowing her throughout those books was fun but this…is perfect for her. The Gibsons reminded me of her brothers with their banter but they are edgier and less refined. No suits for these boys. But picturing Walker in his black shirts and work boots is sexy but add in the grease and callous hands…beyond hot! I felt like I was right there in Crank with Walker, Sienna, and Peck. Walking around teasing them and working under the hood of a truck.
The characters, all of them make up one amazing start to a new series. Walker and Sienna’s relationship is fun, sexy, frustrating, and beautiful. I loved that they are an unlikely match. A match that probably wouldn’t have happened if she didn’t take that swing. Walker’s brothers, cousins, and Nana are hilarious, sweet, and will do anything for each other. I am excited about their stories. I totally have crushes on them especially Peck.
P.S. While I am writing this review my husband is working on a car in the garage. Yes…he is a mechanic in his spare time. So I know all about the smell of grease and hot mechanic jumpsuits.
Quotes:
“Donaldson is in. Where’s his invoice?”
“Fuck if I know,” I grumble. “Sienna filed all that shit.”
“Where?”
“All I know is the folders were all sparkly. There’s still glitter on the floor back there. I’d just follow the glitter trail, Peck.”
“I’d like to follow that glitter trail,” he smirks.
“You like baseball and history?” Lance asks. “Fuck Walker. Wanna blow this joint and go home with me?”
“Close your eyes, Gibson. I’d hate for you to see what you’ve been missing.”

He’s got every reason to be cocky . . . until a female
cuts him down to size.
I’m Dallas Easton, the best goaltender in the league. I make a damn good living
playing hockey, and with women falling at my feet wherever I go, why not enjoy
it? I get whatever I want, whenever I want—that is, until I come across the one
player who gets the best of me on the ice.

When I try to pummel the dude, all hell breaks loose. Imagine my surprise when
the helmet comes off to reveal a woman underneath. And not just any woman, but
the sexiest woman I’ve ever seen. Callie Davis is the complete opposite of the
puck bunnies I usually go for, a good girl with sick moves and a selfless
streak a mile wide. I need to make amends, but she dodges me at every turn. It
doesn’t help that Callie’s brother hates my guts, or that my agent thinks she’s
bad for my career.

But I could care less what they think. I can’t let our little run-in on the ice
be the end of our story. Because when I set my sights on something, I won’t
rest until I score.

Excerpt

Heart pounding, I
stared him down, waiting for him to take the shot. The second he drew back his
stick, I got into position, only for him to hit me right between the eyes with
his glove. For a split second I lost my focus, and he slapped the puck right between
my legs.
“Motherfucker,” I
growled, glaring down at the glove on the ice and the puck in the goal. The
worthless cunt actually had the audacity to throw his glove at my face. Kellan
burst out laughing and the whole rink echoed as they cheered at my expense. Red
just fucked up big time.
The others tried
their luck to no avail, and then Red was back at it. I waited for him to throw
the other glove, but instead, he turned and sprayed ice right up into my face,
his body colliding with mine. During our fall, he hit the puck right into the
goal. Rage coursed through my veins and all I could see was red . . .
literally. Getting up quickly, he started back toward the others and I slid out
my stick, hooking it around his ankle. I jerked him back and he fell. If he
wanted to play dirty, I’d show him how dirty I could be. He tried to get up,
but I pushed him back down, tossing my mask and gloves onto the ice. The others
shouted and skated toward us, but I wasn’t letting Red get away with making me
out to be a fool.

“Think you’re hot
shit now, huh?” I spat, grabbing him by the jersey. He was smaller than me, so
it wasn’t hard to flip him over and rip off his mask. Blinded by rage, I pulled
my fist back, only to stop cold in my tracks. I stared at the face behind the
mask, completely transfixed.

The person lying on
the ice wasn’t Justin’s brother. It was a woman, and not just any woman. She
was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen. Before any words could escape my
lips, Justin tackled me to the ice and my breath whooshed out of my lungs as we
slid to the wall.

“What the fuck is
your problem? That’s my sister,” he shouted angrily. Eyes darkening, he slammed
my shoulders against the wall.

Catching my breath,
I looked up at him and held up my hands. “I didn’t know it was a female. I
wouldn’t have touched her if I’d known.” Under most circumstances, I’d have
punched him and been done, but I felt like a tool.

His nostrils flared.
“You’re such a prick.”

“Justin,” his sister
called out. We both looked over at her as Kellan and the other two guys helped
her up. They all stared daggers at me, including her. “Let’s go.”

Justin pushed off of
me and skated over to her. I got one last look at her angelic face and emerald
green eyes before she turned around and disappeared off the ice.

Love is the
strongest emotion in the world…next to hate.

I knew hate. Had known it since I was seventeen.
For me, it was love turned on its head, a product of hurt and fear—twisted,
tied up…and placed on the sculpted shoulders of Ethan Riske.

Dayton, Tennessee.

Home to the best cow-tipping in the world, the
biggest hot dogs, and the lousiest sex.

Or so I’d heard…

They were right about the first two. Ethan
Riske proved them wrong about the third and at seventeen, he and I spent a
summer under the stars, squeezing our way out of trouble, sweating and panting
among the haystacks.

Until he left.

Nine years later, when a huge publishing house
tries to buy my small press, I storm into the office of the CEO to find him.

Same cocky grin. Different name.

And suddenly all I can think about is exacting
revenge on Ethan Riske for breaking his contract…and my heart.

But there’s someone who wants revenge even
more than I do. As I begin to fall for the new Ethan, will the sins of the old
one come back to haunt us?

Riske and Revenge is the first book in the Revenge series by one of my favorite suspense romance authors, Natalie E. Wrye! I have read all of her books and have beta read most of them. I just love how she makes me think, laugh, and tingle sometimes all at once. Before I start talking about the story I want to explain that if you read a Paradise Forbidden then you have met Kat and Ethan (known as Trevor). This is a complete re-write of their story. It’s not the same story. They might have the same names, kinda but they are not the same in personalities. It’s hard to explain. Overall…if you read Paradise Forbidden …read this. If you didn’t…read Riske and Revenge.
Nine years. It’s been nine years since Kat has seen Ethan Riske. The boy that found trouble. The boy that she loved at seventeen. The boy that disappeared that same year. She hasn’t seen him but she knew he was now the man that she hated. He was also the man she couldn’t forget. The man who tortured her in his dreams and in her heart. Now nine years later, she sees him again. And damn him for looking even sexier and more sophisticated in his three piece suits. And fuck him for wanting to ruin her. She wants her revenge but can she do that and keep her body from betraying her?
Brendon Foxx has it all. CEO. Nice rides. Sweet office. Kickass friends. As many women as he wants. But there is still one thing he doesn’t have. Her. The girl who he left behind in Tennessee. The girl that he could be himself around. The one girl that didn’t chase him. The girl of his dreams. That was all she was now. A dream. Until, he sees Kat once again. She was reality but not his. He saw the look in her eyes and they were not kind. He knew that look. He was fucked and not in a good way.
Kat and Ethan’s relationship is complex. They thought they knew each other nine years ago but now? Their chemistry was still there. Kat’s feistiness was still intact. Ethan’s trouble-making smirk was still panty melting but he wasn’t the same person who left Tennessee or was he and Kat didn’t see it? She might have some glimpses but not this. Will she even see her Ethan again or is it too late?
I liked their story the first time around but I loved it the second time. The writing is more addicting. The characters are more developed. The storyline is just more. I laughed more. The heat rose. The suspense was less predictable. I am excited about the rest of the series of remakes. Natalie totally kicked ass with this one!
Quotes:
With Kat Lexington, nothing was simple.
I thought about the comment Brendon Foxx once made about me working at Red Lobster, and figured that I might as well start working on my biscuit recipe.
She was the song that my heart had never stopped singing.

Prologue

“I hope you taste as good as you smell.”
The sound drifted through the air. A slow, sensuous melody
floated with it, and as both made their way through the room, the beat of the
song and the quiet statement I just heard rattled the bourbon in my hand,
making the ice cubes shake.
Or maybe I was the one shaking.
I couldn’t help it.
Griff was poking a hole in my ribs with his elbow, and as
the lips that had just whispered in my ear withdrew, I could see the look on my
“best man’s” face. He was essentially salivating, his tongue practically
swinging as he took in the vision of the woman who was speaking in my ear… and
laying a seductive path in my open lap.
She stood, her long legs stretching, her bare torso twisting
as she rolled the shape of an “S” in the air with her body, swaying seductively
to the music. She was toned… that was obvious. A tight package with tits too
big to be real, the buxom blonde in front of me was the object of every man’s
wet-dream, star of every cock-swinger’s fantasy…
Except mine.
But she was doing her best. Clad in a piece of cloth that
barely covered her clearly cleanly-waxed pussy, she ground her
pretty ass two inches from my face while every other man in the room fought the
urge to put their fingers all over her. My best friend, included. He nudged my
side for the ninetieth time.
“Fuck me, man,” he slurred. “If she was doing that to me,
I’d be two seconds from putting my finger in her ass.” He smirked widely and
wildly.
“Good thing you aren’t me,” I shot back quietly, leaning
over to look into his face. “That’d be a felony, you crazy ass.” I finally
smiled. “And the last time I checked you didn’t fuck strippers because ‘and I
quote…  ‘Who knows how many other items have been in those goddamned
holes?'”
I threw Griff’s own words back at him with a silent grin.
“Doesn’t matter,” he declared, staring at the stripper in
front of me for the thousandth time. “For her?” He swallowed another mouthful
of scotch. “I’d make an exception.”
I glared at the beautiful blonde again. Because Griff was
right. The exotic dancer… She might have been one of the best looking I’d ever
seen. Maybe the best. She was tall, long-legged. Gorgeous… in
the porn star sense, of course, with a wide, luscious mouth made for licking
and sucking in only the most erotic of ways.
She licked her lips at me as if she wanted to make good on
the promise she’d just whispered, and I had no doubt when she looked at me, her
brown doe-like eyes wide, that—if she could, she would devour me until nothing
was left. Until she drained every drop.
Unfortunately, for her, I wasn’t interested.
She tried to drag me to my feet, her tiny fingers wrapping
around my own, pulling as she walked backwards in the direction of the edge of
the room. The overhead maroon lights illuminating the space in our black-curtain
closed boudoir made her look as naughty as every word dripping from her
blood-red mouth, and Bambi the Bimbo was putting on her best pout to entice me
into joining her towards whatever dirty fun lay in the dark room beyond this
one.
All of the men—friend and foe—whooped as I slowly dragged
myself to my feet, stumbling and fumbling over the discarded decorations that
littered the floor. Streamers and “Congratulations” ribbons ran the length of
the room, taking up space between the cloth-covered tables, and I staggered
past them, barely holding onto my Bourbon as I followed stolidly behind the
too-excited dancer who nearly bounced on her platform-covered toes.
With the push of another curtain, we fell into another room,
and I let my body flounce on the dark-colored couches beyond it, slumping into
the padded cushions. I took a healthy swig of my drink and sank my fingers into
the seat beneath, wondering how many stains these comfortable sofas had really seen.
The drunker I got, the more it didn’t matter. Ignorance
truly was bliss.
And so was the sensation making its way down my crotch—a
gentle rubbing that circled the length of my cock through the fabric of my suit
pants. From the tip to the very base. I groaned, closing my eyes as I saw a
vision in my mind. A vision too good to be true.
A vision almost ten years old.
Waves of dark hair fell to a waist too tiny to be anything
but touched. Shiny and soft, the beautiful brown mane swept across my chest,
against my shirt, as two eyes, a crystal-clear blue, peeked from beneath the
strands, as round and as large as saucers. In my mind, they met mine, saying
things that couldn’t be vocalized, voicing words that need not be said.
They seduced in the most innocent of ways, waylaying me,
pulling at a possessiveness in me I didn’t know existed. The blue eyes smiled.
The smile beneath them was even better—wicked, as it dipped to my abdomen and
pressed there, making me ache, causing my cock to strain against the
inconvenient zipper located there.
How many times had I imagined those lips doing exactly that?
That tongue licking out beneath those straight white teeth to lap at my skin,
the edge of her mouth nipping at the most sensitive parts of me? It was
torture—letting her tease me, taking me to the brink and back again as she
swept that sheet of auburn locks over my body as she bent to her knees. I
sucked in a breath soaked in desire as I waited for her to place her mouth
where it mattered most.
And then it stopped. The teasing. She stopped.
And before I knew it, she was pulling—no, ripping—at my
pants. The top button popped, and suddenly my cock was between her hands, her
lips. She sank her mouth around it with a sigh, sucking with delight. The
sexiest slurp ever made to man escaped from between her teeth, and I nearly
lost it, grinding my own teeth as I gripped the back of her head, my eyelids
squeezing tight enough to ache.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck…” I muttered. Over and over and over
again.
It was fucking amazing. Something so simple—someone so
simple, sweet and secretly naughty could bring a stubborn fucker like me—CEO
and all—to his Giorgio Armani-covered knees.
I came… with my cock in her mouth and her name on my mind. I
leaned back even further, letting my head fall into the cushions.
“Fuck, Kat…” I mumbled, feeling way too fucked up to move,
the liquor coursing through my veins as I came down from my high, my fingers
reaching out to touch her once more.
But she backed away.
“Kat?” she said, rising to her feet. “Who the fuck is Kat?”
I opened my eyes, staring at the figure fumbling around in
front of me. It was the blonde vixen—the stripper. Standing on shaky legs, she
wobbled between my legs, locking me with a stare, her eyes hard and unblinking.
She placed her hands on her tiny hips.
“Who the hell is Kat?”
As if she was outraged. As if she had any right to question
whatever the fuck I was doing anyway. I ignored her with a shrug, stowing my
dick back in my pants with a loud zip! I finished my drink and
sat it down.
“Ohhhh… I get it,” the blonde blower hissed. “She must be
your fiancé. Well… I guarantee you that she’s never made you come like that.
That was epic, baby,” she sighed, trying to straddle me. Her pussy was peeking
completely out of her barely-there panties this time, and she tried to rub it
across me, sliding her pink slit across the front of my pants with a slow
grind.
I almost pushed her off. I stood.
“There is no fiancee,” I rumbled.
“But I thought…”
“My friends,” I interrupted, “thought it’d be funny to
celebrate my new position. They said it was fitting… seeing as how I’m now
married to my job. This isn’t a real bachelor party. And that
wasn’t a real blow-job…”
She raised an eyebrow. “Certainly felt real
to me.”
I pulled out my wallet, taking out a couple hundred dollar
bills and putting them in the palm of her hand. I folded her fingers around
them, looking into her eyes.
“Can’t be real… Not when you’re thinking about someone else
the entire time.”
I turned just as the fair-haired, breathing blow-up doll
gaped. I pulled the black curtain aside, exiting, attempting to avoid the
curious gaze of every onlooking employee that came to the party to usher me
into my new executive role.
My smile was weak, as I tried to shake off what just
happened to me in the other room… and who I was imagining it happening with. Somehow,
it was the brunette in my head, and not the blonde on my lap, that felt as if
she were still on my skin.
I was in so much fucking trouble.

You scream. I scream. We all scream during … well, you get the point. After a failed eight-year relationship and a cross-country move, the last thing I’m looking for as a single mom is a new flame. In fact, diapers, walls marked in crayon, and daycare pickup are the only things on my to-do list.

Enter Jake Brady, your friendly neighborhood food truck owner whose dimples and delicacies won’t seem to leave well enough alone. With more popularity than the president, his wine-infused sweet treats have our nation’s capital hooked. He’s spontaneous, smug and all-American gorgeous; a dangerous combination considering he has no interest in taking on the responsibilities that rule my life.

But when we can’t seem to sample enough of each other’s … desserts, things start to get complicated. Jake is biting off more than he can chew, and when I watch him with my daughter, I can’t seem to freeze my melting heart.

Maybe it’s his waffle cone. Maybe it’s his … banana split. Either way, I think I’m in trouble with a cherry on top.

Melt is a new standalone by Carrie Aarons. I just know when I open one of her books that I am in for a treat full of laughter, sexiness, and heart. I also know that the storyline will have a unique twist and hook me in.
One food truck owning bachelor. One newly single mom. One adorable three year old girl. The first two were not looking for a relationship. The other wasn’t looking for a new daddy. But fate brings them together in most delicious way. With ice cream. And wine.
Samantha just moved back home to D.C. after leaving her boyfriend of eight years in Seattle. She had her dream job, her daughter, and her mom. That’s all she needed. Yes. A hot night with a man would be wonderful but her number one priority with always be Lennon. That man does find her but he isn’t looking for the kind of responsibility that he would need to give to Samantha or her little girl in the future. She is happy that he tells her upfront and that apparently is a turn on because she gets her hot night and it was everything and more than she expected.
Jake never met a woman like Samantha even though he saw her around college years ago. He never dated anyone with a kid but for her, he wanted to try. And he did until things get complicated. He knew he was in over his head but Samantha and Lennon melt his heart but can he handle it? Can he handle the mess, cries, and falls that come along with a three year old? Can he handle the most beautiful single mom and her sassy daughter?
I thought this was a cute, funny, and hot read. I love a good single parent book. Just something about second chances at love and having your little love at your side is extra beautiful. I love just seeing that bond between a child and the new one in their lives  developing. It’s not always easy, I know that but it’s special. I thought Samantha and Jake did an amazing job with bringing the three of them together.
Overall…it was awesome! The characters are lovable. Their banter is fun. Their appetites make me want to eat some pasta with a side of ice cream. I laughed hard and felt their passion.
Quotes:
Damnnnnn. Would it be inappropriate for me to whistle?
“And you’ll be out here, sleeping with Lennon’s Dora the Explorer blanket. So don’t be a dirty dog, because Boots sees everything.”
“Time is money, baby. And I am a good multi-tasker, especially with my hands. I think you have seen that work in action.”
“God, you’re cheesy.” I lean my seat back a little, impatient on long car rides.

Release Date: September 7, 2017

People say not to believe the things you read
in magazines, but you know what? Most things you’ve heard about me are probably
true.
I totally banged the reporter in the locker
room after the championship game last year.
Those pictures in Expose from last summer?
Those were not modified.
I’m also not really six-foot tall. (But let’s
keep that between us.)
Now, I know you’re wondering about that last
Expose headline—the one about me and my teammate (and ex-best friend) Finn
Miller’s sister, Layla James. That one is a little more complicated.
Here’s the thing: I’ve played football my
whole life. If there’s one thing I know, it’s how to adjust when the game
changes. And if there’s one thing I always do, it’s find a way to win.
Granted, the stakes are higher. The playbook
has changed. There’s more on the line than (another) MVP title. But guess what
hasn’t changed? Me. I’m still Branch “Lucky” Best and I’m not about to fumble
this one.
Grab a seat and a subscription to Expose. I’m
about to make some headlines. (Again.)
A sexy, swoon-filled standalone novel.

I’m a huge fan of Adriana Locke and I’ve read all her books. I’ve loved them all for different reasons, but the thing that ties them altogether is the fantastic writing and the real, addicting characters. I know that I will be hooked from the first page and keep wanting more and more until the very end. Adriana can do something very few authors can. She makes you love her secondary characters as much as the main ones. She writes family. Friendships. She knows people and she knows what her fans want. We want sexy football players. Bad ass heroines. Best friends to envy and siblings to wish for. And Adriana delivers time and time again. Lucky Number Eleven is a football romance. One of my favorite kinds. Branch is a wide receiver and he’s famous, rich and a playboy. He doesn’t pretend to be someone he isn’t. He’s honest, direct and tells it like it is. While he’s away for the weekend with his best friend, Finn. He meets Finn’s sister, Layla. He’s instantly attracted to her, but knows he needs to keep his hands to himself or his best friend will kill him. After spending time with Layla, Branch feels more at home than he has in years. She brings out the man he used to be. The one he always thought he’d be. She’s genuine, sweet and hilarious and he just can’t stay away from her. It’s just a weekend fling, but it left him wanting more. More of her smiles. More of her laughter. Just more of her. But that’s not realistic and they both know it. Layla can’t help but want Branch. I mean, he’s sexy, funny, talented and handsome. He’s not exactly how she pictured the sexy playboy. He’s sweeter. Nicer and more fun. When they run into each other weeks later, it’s awkward. They have to talk, but can they be friends? What happens when obstacles block their way? I loved this story! I loved Branch and Layla’s chemistry and their banter. It was top notch! I loved that she didn’t fall all over herself because of who he is. She liked the man, not the player. Branch is a dick, but I still loved him. He was honest and it broke my heart that he didn’t have more faith in himself. Layla is seriously badass! There wasn’t anything about her that I didn’t like! And, please with Finn and Poppy! They are fantastic! I need more of them asafp! Poppy is the greatest best friend. I wanted to be her and have her in my life. Finn is the loving brother who would do anything for his sister. He just gets it. Overall, this is the perfect story filled with sexiness, fun, friendship, family and football! Go Number Eleven!!

P.S. One of my favorite scenes is when Branch and Layla play catch!

P.P.S. I love Poppy’s explanation of the men and the positions they play on the field. Priceless!

I guess I expected . . . more,” I tease, lifting my shoulders just a touch for effect.

“You want more? I have so much more you’d be screaming for less.”

“I’m about to get you nine inches closer if you don’t tell me no,” I growl.

“Let me think about it,” she says, tapping her pursed lips.

“Will it make you happy?”

“Yeah, but I don’t need it.”

“My job isn’t to decide what you need. It’s to make you happy.”

And…Poppy!!

“That face isn’t my favorite on you.”

“Um, I only have one face.”

“That would be incorrect,”

Second,” I insist, shooting her a look, “weren’t you just telling me yesterday to stay away from guys like him?”

“I said nothing about wide receivers. That’s a whole different game.”

Sandra's Review

Lucky Number Eleven is a complete standalone novel by one badass author, Adriana Locke. I have read and loved all of her books. I just know that I will be addicted to the story and the characters instantly and once again, I was. If adulting didn’t get in the way this weekend, I would of read it in one sitting.
Branch Best was warned to stay away from his best friend Finn’s sister. Layla knew she should have stayed away from him. But the moment she walked out of the car at the cabin, they felt something. It turned into a weekend of something. A weekend of shameless flirting, sexy secrets, and candied apples. It was a good time but they both knew that was all they could give. She wasn’t ready for someone like him. Not again. Maybe not ever. And he knew she was too good for him and his life. They knew the score. He didn’t do commitments. Hell, sometimes he didn’t even do names. He was straight forward about it. But he knew there was something different about Layla. She wasn’t a groupie. She wasn’t a one-off. She was smart, sexy, strong, sweet and beautiful in every sense of the word. He didn’t want to ruin that. Ruin her. But what if it was too late?
Their one weekend changes everything. Finn finds out about Branch’s betrayal. He is livid that Branch could easily go behind his back. After that weekend, both Branch and Layla can’t stop thinking about each other but know it’s for the best to be apart even though they developed feelings. Branch felt at ease with her. Felt like himself. Layla loved the way Branch made he feel beautiful and wanted. Together they laughed, relaxed, and felt right but wrong at the same time. But, when they see each other again, it’s not pretty. It’s confusing. Can they get back to how they felt before in that cabin?
Sorry. I can’t really say much. I will say that I ❤️ Branch even when I didn’t like him. I love him for many reasons but the big one is that he doesn’t lie even if it’s hurts. He is also hilarious, sexy, and oh so swoon worthy. I also love Layla. She is seriously kick ass. She is everything Branch sees and more. Smart, strong, sexy, and beautiful. Together, their banter is on point. Their chemistry is off the charts. And their story is messy complicated and beautiful at the same time. Oh…I can’t forget about Finn and Poppy. They are some of my favorite secondary characters! Omg. I want more!! Of all of them.
Overall…I didn’t want it to end! The laughs, heat, and heart was everything!
P.S I want coffee cake! Now.
Quotes:
The reporter, whose name I didn’t catch, clutches her notes to her chest. “Maybe we can all three do something together one day.”
“That’s called a threesome and I’m in,” Finn deadpans.
Her mouth drops open. “I meant an interview!”
“I want your blood right now and your cock later. Keep your heart.”
“I think I just fell in love.”
She rolls her eyes and counts us down and we begin the most epic game of Skee Ball Linton has ever seen.
Anyway, enough of the bromance chronicles.

Excerpt
“One question,” Poppy interjects, looking at Branch. “What position are you?”
“I typically like the bottom so I can watch—oomph,” he says, getting another elbow from Finn. “Wide receiver. Why?”
Looking at Poppy, I can’t help but laugh as her eyes light up.
“You got a problem with wide receivers?” Branch asks.
“You do,” Finn interjects, giving me a narrowed glare. “They aren’t any better than quarterbacks.”
Branch looks from me, to Finn, and back to me. “Why do we not like quarterbacks?”
“My sister was dating Callum Worthington.”
“No shit?” His face puckers like he just bit into a lemon. “How in the hell did that cocksucker end up with you?”
“He didn’t. We’re not together anymore.”
Branch’s eyes heat, the look causing my pulse to quicken. “I’m not a bit sorry to hear that.”
“You better forget you heard any of that,” Finn warns. “This is my sister, Branch. Not a cheerleader or reporter or some chick from a dating app. Got it?”
“Finn, relax,” I say, shoving a swallow past the lump in my throat. “I appreciate the big brother spiel, but I can handle myself.”
“I know you can,” he says, pulling his gaze away from Branch. “But you can’t handle him.”
