Mallory Sims is late for her first day of work.

After spilling her tea, she discovers she has no gas in her car. Add that her arm keeps sticking to her dress from syrup left on the console of her car, flustered feels like an understatement.

Then she sees her new boss.

Graham Landry is the epitome of NSFW in his custom-fit suit, black-rimmed glasses, and a look so stern her libido doesn’t stand a chance. Being flustered is just the start of her problems.

Her punctuality is only the start of his. With a pink slip in hand, he’s been waiting on his new secretary to show up only to let her go. Then she rushes in with her doe eyes and rambling excuses, smelling like bacon and lavender. The termination paper falls to the side as she falls in his arms.

This is a disaster in the making. Not because of his pinpoint exactness or her free spirit, but because when they’re together, the sparks that fly threaten to burn the whole place down.

Switch is the third book in the Landry Family series. Graham has been my favorite from the beginning of the series and he did not disappoint. He’s the serious one, who is in charge of the Landry business and he’s always protecting his family. He’s always impeccably dressed in a custom fit suit with the perfect knot in his tie. He doesn’t have time for distractions especially sexy ones who show up late for work and smell like syrup and bacon. Even if she is incredibly beautiful and smart. Mallory is looking for a new start and this new job is her first chance. Until she sees Graham again. He wasn’t this gorgeous in high school. How is she going to concentrate on work while he’s this close to her? Graham can’t stop thinking about Mallory. She’s unlike any woman he’s ever known before. He’s not going to be able to keep his hands off her. Or his lips. Or his body. Office romance be damned. Graham realizes he wants more than just Mallory’s body. He wants to get to know her mind and her soul too. But he’s been down the love road before and it didn’t end well. Can Graham get over his past before he loses the best thing that’s ever happened to him? Will Mallory give him a chance to prove himself? I loved this story! Graham is so sexy, sweet, dirty and funny. I loved getting to see him loosen up. I also love the Landry family dynamic. They are so damn hilarious and they care so much about each other! It was great to see them all again and I can’t wait for Ford’s story!

I’m aware I’m an addict and I measure my drugs in Grahams.

“The higher you get, the more lovely I think you are.”

“That’s very nice of you to say.”

“I only speak the truth.”

“Besides seeing you naked and being on the receiving end of your smile, my favorite thing about you is how smart you are and how passionate you are about the things that matter to you.”

Switch is the third novel in the Landry Family series. Each one can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading all them because they are all amazing. The Landry brothers all have different personalities but are all swoon-worthy, sexy, southern gentlemen with a filthy twist. This is Graham’s story. He is the businessman. The uptight, sharp, and sexy as sin CEO that needs a woman to swoop in and take the stick out of his ass. And Mallory just might be the woman for the job…

Mallory had no idea what she was walking or falling into took the job of Graham Landry’s assistant. She just moved back into town and ran into Graham’s sister, Camille. Mallory needed a new job and she loved business and had experience as an executive assistant so it was perfect. That is what she thought anyway until her first day was a hot mess. She was late. She was shocked stupid when she saw Graham in a suit. She knew him in high school but he was different now. He was sinfully handsome. Intense. And his presence made her melt. And when he got all CEO on her or in the conference room…she was down for. His intelligence and commanding presence turned her on. Damn. She wanted him. But first, she had to get him to loosen up. His tie was too tight. His desk was too neat. She understood he needed that control but she wanted to see him lose it. Preferably on her.

Graham was fucked and he knew it. He didn’t do distractions. He never failed. He kept things in boxes. Never mix up those boxes. The minute Mallory showed up to his office, finally, he was a mess. He didn’t know what to do with her. He couldn’t concentrate with her only a few yards away from his office. He should have fired her. But he couldn’t. She was too good. He wanted to know her. She was not only gorgeous but she was smart and had the biggest heart. She actually cares about his well-being and not just for the paycheck. Yep. He was fucked. He wasn’t ready for someone like her. She was messy. She was making him laugh. She did yoga!

Graham and Mallory’s friendship. Working relationship. And well…benefits is complicated. Yes. He is her boss but that’s not the issue. The issue is that they were not ready for each other. She is finding her way and he was loving his. I love that this isn’t just about a sexy love story. It’s about self-discovery, family, and balance. I fell for Graham. Hard. And not just because I can just imagine him in those damn suits and glasses but because of his brain. It’s sexy! And I fell for Mallory too. She doesn’t take shit. She refuses to lose herself again. And she can tease Graham something fierce.

Overall…it’s fun, sexy, and beautifully messy. I laughed so hard. The banter between not only Graham and Mallory is funny but the banter between the Landrys is priceless. This family isn’t perfect but they are amazing and love and support each other. I am excited about Ford’s story! Bring it on…

Quotes:

“You’re safe,” I sigh. “I can’t throw you on the console of your car. I’m afraid your face would get stuck in syrup or something.”

Excerpt

Graham’s tongue darts out, skimming his bottom lip. He’s pinning me against the loveseat with a hand on either side of my face.

“You drive me crazy,” he says, narrowing his eyes. “I try so hard to be on my best behavior around you and you just whittle me down. Every fucking time.”

“Well,” I tease, wrapping my legs around his waist. “I think your ‘best behavior’ is subjective.”

“You know what I mean.”

“And you know what I mean.”

My heels locked at his back, I squeeze my thighs around his waist and pull him closer to me. His lips hover over mine but they don’t touch.

“What exactly do you mean, Mallory?”

I wind my fingers in his hair and tug gently. “I mean this is the Graham I like best. I like seeing you like this.”

“Struggling to keep myself together?”

“Exactly.” Lifting my head, I flick my tongue against his lips. I can feel the heat of his mouth, the taste of his desire. “Don’t try so hard,” I whisper.

“It’s futile anyway,” he says. I barely hear the words as he pulls back. “Stand up.” He climbs off the loveseat, stripping off his shirt. “Now.”

My stomach clenching at the intensity in his eyes, I’m on my feet before I realize I’ve moved.

“Take your dress off. Everything. I want you completely naked.”

The air brushes against my skin as the linen covering my body pools at my feet. As I step out, I watch Graham and almost gasp.

He’s standing in front of me, his cock in his hand, watching my every move. “Bra. Off.”

With a shaky hand, I unclasp the back and throw it at him. He catches it and presses it to his face.

“Now what?” I stand before him, not a thing on my skin. My hair drapes around my shoulders, and despite the fact I’m standing completely naked outside under the watchful eye of this sexy CEO, I don’t feel a bit nervous. Just … admired. That feels better than any orgasm, any accomplishment, any nice words ever spoken to me.

Graham sits again, his legs spread. He’s in complete control, managing the situation not with words or power, but with his eyes. That’s all it takes.

You know how Cinderella had the whole glass slipper, pumpkin carriage, fairy godmother thing?Yeah…with foot-destroying stilettos, Uber, and a Twitter horoscope, my life is far from a happily ever after.

In fact, instead of Prince Charming, I end up dating every slimy, scaly, brainless frog in the kingdom of Manhattan. And by frog, I mean all of the stereotypical bad guys that Mom and Lifetime movies warned you about.

The meathead player.
The mommy’s boy.
The namedropper.
The cheapskate.

If they suck at relationships, I’ve probably kissed those cold, clammy lips in the hopes of finding love. Until one day, when one man with commitment issues offers to help me find the Romeo to my Juliet.

But what happens when the frog, who was never supposed to turn into a prince, kisses you at midnight? Ok fine, he propositioned me for some afternoon delight after brunch, but not everything can be straight out of a fairytale.

We both know we aren’t just talking about a moved stapler or a mishmash of files. As that really sets in, the air around us gets heavier. Hotter. Hazardous.“Those things always lead to dangerous situations,” he says, his eyes trained on me.

I shift in my seat, the throb between my legs growing stronger by the second. “People do it every day and survive.”

“They may survive, but don’t things get messy?”

“Only if they do it right.”

His chair flies backwards and he’s to his feet and next to me before I know what’s happening. He doesn’t ask that I stand, but he doesn’t have to. It’s implied and my body reacts accordingly to his silent command.

We stand face-to-face, our breathing ragged. Our chests heave with the anticipation, the possibility, of what might come next.

“You are, quite possibly, the most dangerous of them all,” he says, his voice rough.

“Why is that?” I breathe.

“There’s no plan for you.”

“But you’ve already penciled me in, haven’t you, Graham?” I ask, finding the courage to play this little game with him. Being strictly professional is incredibly hard, and this is way too easy.

I can flirt with the best of them in a bar or on a college campus. But here, with him, it’s a game all its own. A level I had no idea I’d ever be a contender in. Maybe I’m not, but I’m going to play the hell out of it while I’m here … even though if I keep it up, I might not be here for long.

“What do you want, Mallory?”

“I want to do all the things you ask of me and do them better than you ever expected they could be done.”

A rumble emits from his throat as his eyes darken. My knees go weak and I grab the table with my left hand to ensure I don’t fall.

He licks his lips and flips his gaze to my mouth. I think I whimper as I lift my chin, waiting to see what he does next. My entire body is on fire for this man, my heart thumping so hard I’m sure he can hear it.

He moves so my back is pressed against the table, our food long forgotten. His hands are on either side of me, caging me in. Our eyes locked together, he leans in, a slow smirk spreading across his gorgeous face.

“Excuse me, Mr. Landry. Ford is here to see you,” Raza chirps through the line.

We exhale simultaneously, a giggle escaping with mine. There’s nothing funny about this, but the energy has to come out in some way.

“Mr. Landry?” she asks again.

“I’ll be right out. Thank you, Raza.”

“Oh, you’re so welcome, sir.” The line clicks off and Graham marches across the room and punches a button. The light on top indicates he’s not to be disturbed.

I busy myself with cleaning up our lunch, and before he’s at my side again, I have everything bundled up.

“Thanks for lunch,” I say like nothing just happened.

“Mallory …” He runs his hand through his hair, leaving one lock sticking up. Knowing what that will look like if we walk out together, I reach up, hesitating for a split second, before smoothing it out.

His hair is silky against my fingers. He jumps when I touch him at first, but doesn’t back away. “What are you doing?”

“Nothing went on in here. I refuse for it to look like something did. That’s the way rumors get spread, Mr. Landry.”

“Mallory, I …”

I get a final look at his face, reach up and straighten his tie as his eyes go wide, then turn towards the door. “I’ll send Ford in.”

“Mallory!”

“Yeah?” I turn to see him over my shoulder. He’s standing by the table, his hands in his pockets looking frazzled. When he doesn’t respond, I place my hand on the knob. “I’ll have that file back to you before I leave today. Thanks again for lunch.”

I walk out before I can change my mind.

Title: Meant For You
A Sexy Flirty Dirty Standalone Romance
Author: Lili Valente
Genre: Hot Romantic Comedy
Release Date: February 14, 2017

Blurb
Hot, hilarious, feel-good romance from the USA Today Bestselling author of Magnificent Bastard.I was her first love, and I’m going to be her last…

On paper, I’ve got it all—good looks, good friends, a killer business, and gorgeous women throwing themselves at me from every corner of the globe. But I still can’t get one woman out of my f*cking head.

Her. Adeline Klein, the sexiest little smart ass in wire-rimmed glasses and a polka-dot bikini to ever bring a man to his knees.

God, she was something….

But I’m pretty sure she hates me. I’ve tried to track her down, but it’s like she dropped off the face of the earth. Then one day there she is—stranded on the side of the road, waiting for rescue, like Fate has arranged for me to be her knight in shining armor all over again.

Only she would clearly prefer to kick me in the balls. Or the face. Or maybe the balls and the face simultaneously. But do I let that keep me from making her come on the slopes or dampen the fire that flares between us every time we touch?

No way. Because some things—like sweet, wounded women with hearts of gold and souls of pure platinum—are worth fighting for.

Meant For You is a steamy Standalone second chance romance with a swoony HEA.

Meant for You is a standalone, but it’s part of the Magnificent Bastard series. I love this series. So much! Lili Valente knows just what I need when I need to read it! She can always make me laugh, swoon, smile, get hot and bothered and in this case, get the chills! I loved that this story isn’t her normal rom-com, but it has a different feel. Fate, destiny and yes, a little supernatural feel. I, of course, love a little paranormal in my romance, so I enjoyed this story! We’ve met Adaline before. She’s a friend of Shane’s and she’s sweet and pretty, but she’s sad. There’s something from her past that haunts her and it’s not just Nate, her ex-boyfriend, the newest employee of Magnificent Bastard Consulting. Addie doesn’t want to see Nate again. She hasn’t forgotten the pain he caused when he vanished from her life years ago. When she finds herself in the same hotel as Nate, she can’t avoid him. Nate can’t believe it’s really her. He never thought he’s see her again and this time he isn’t going to let her go. Walking away from her was the biggest mistake he’s ever made and he’s going to make her sit down and listen to him even if he has to kiss her into submission. A sled mishap and a freak snowstorm bring Addie and Nate together to face their past and their present. Does this mean there’s a future for them too? I loved this story! Nate is totally swoon worthy with his sexiness and his determination. Addie is sassy and tougher than she ever thought she could be. This is a second chance romance that proves some people are just meant for each other. Fate, destiny and a little supernatural intervention are at work. You can try to ignore them, but they are stronger than you are so you just need to listen and pay attention!

Other girls have made me want, but Addie is the first to make me ache.

“I’m going to make you come so many times you’re going to forget that other cocks exist, Klein. I’m going to give you a raging case of cock-nesia.”

Meant for You is a standalone novel but it also part of the Magnificent Bastard Consulting series. If you read the previous books then you might remember Adeline as Shane’s neighbor in Incredible You. You also might remember the newest consultant named Nate. This is their story and it’s one of my favorites from the series.

Seven years ago Nate and Adeline had one crazy epic summer together. Nate was eighteen and Adeline was sixteen but it was everything to them. They weren’t planning for future past the summer but things didn’t go as planned. They fell hard. And then it was over. Nate walked away without looking back and Adeline was heartbroken. But, life went on. Kind of. They both never forgot about that summer of love. It changed them. Fate put them together that summer and now it has brought them back together. But will it be different this time?

Addie couldn’t do this. How was she going to spend five days in a lodge with the only man that she ever loved. The one that walked away. The one that broke her. She was a different girl that summer. She was confident, brace, wild, and felt beautiful. When it was over. That was over. She didn’t go to college, she went to work for an old bat and drove her to appointments, read her the Times, and did batshit crazy errands. She felt stuck but what else could she do? She didn’t know but she couldn’t do it anymore. She needed to find herself again and that led her to the lodge with led her to him. Could he help her bring that girl back from that summer? She misses that girl.

Nate can’t believe they ended up here together. He wanted to explain to her what happened at the end of that summer. And from the moment he saw her again, he wanted to show her that they deserved a second chance. He is determined to prove it to her. He wasn’t going to let her walk away. She was just as beautiful if not more beautiful now. She still had spunk but it was different. Their undeniable connection was still there. He could work with that. He just needed her to listen. Will he get her forgiveness? He all he has ever wanted since he walked away.

I loved this book! The characters have a crazy and wild connection that I could feel through the pages. They really are meant to be. Addie might not think she is the most confident but is stronger than she knows. She just needed an added push. Nate is swoon worthy. For reals. He knows Addie deserves the best and that is what he wants to give her. He wants to make her feel beautiful. Wanted. Loved. But, of course they have their past to move on from. Nate isn’t the only one that has some explaining to do.

Overall…it’s one of my favorite books written by Lili! It had everything. Humor, sexiness, sweetness, and emotion. Plus, the characters are total book nerds! There is also some unique twists that I didn’t see coming. Awesomeness.

P.S. The text messages are brilliant.

Quotes:

He belongs on the cover of Snobby European Skiing, Sex God Edition.

The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. And you’ve always been my favorite mystery.

“What is that? You got a brick in your pocket?”
“No, I’m just happy to see you,” he says, making me laugh again, though a few minutes ago I was sure laughter had left the building.

Excerpt

Seconds later, I land flat on my back with an oof that’s echoed by the sled as it slaps down a few feet away and shivers across the snow to spin in a lazy circle near a very large rock. I’m staring at the rock, thinking about how much worse things would be right now if I’d fallen on it instead of the snow, and silently thanking the gods of sledding that I’m alive, when I hear a male voice shout—“Fuck! Shit! Shit!”

—from somewhere overhead.

A moment later a steerable sled shoots off the ledge, soaring over my head to ram into a tree, splintering to pieces.

I flinch and cough, the breath rushing back into my lungs. I’m trying to roll over, figuring I’d better get up before my luck runs out and someone lands on top of me, when Nate’s head pops up above the snow bank. “Adeline! Are you okay? Are you hurt?”

My eyes narrow. “You.”

“Stay there, I’ll be right down,” he says, clearly not realizing that he’s the last person I want to see while I’m lying in the snow in a defeated heap.

“I don’t need help,” I call out, but I don’t try to get up again. I’ve already embarrassed myself enough in front of Nate. I refuse to give him the satisfaction of seeing me wallow around in a snowdrift like an artic walrus.

In what feels like no time, he’s found his way down to the scene of my humiliation and fallen to his knees beside me. “Just lie still.” The concern on his face as he tugs off his gloves is almost funny. Too bad I’m not in the mood to laugh anymore. “I have first aid training. Not a lot, but enough to see if anything’s broken. Can you tell me where it hurts?”

“It doesn’t hurt,” I insist, still making no move to rise. “I’m fine. You can leave.”

He scowls, and his eyes flash the way they do when he’s angry. Or turned on. Or maybe angrily turned on, though I’ve never personally seen him in that state. “You just sledded off a goddamned ledge, Adeline,” he says, voice rough. “And you’re not moving.”

“I don’t feel like moving,” I say stubbornly. “I’m enjoying a rest in the snow. So go away, Nate. Go, go, go away, and don’t come back another day.”

His breath rushes out. “That’s mature.”

“Yeah? Well, screw mature,” I say, the heat in my tone surprising me. “I did mature. I did all the mature while you were off hitting keg parties. I don’t have to do mature right now, and I don’t have to talk to you. So go away!”

Nate’s jaw clenches and I’m pretty sure he’s about to lose his temper in a fashion unlike anything I’ve seen from him before.

Instead he leans in, wrapping his hands around my wrists, pinning them to the snow. “I’m not going away,” he whispers inches from my lips, making my pulse spike. “Not until you let me get through to you, one way or another.”

“If you kiss me, I’m going to bite you,” I warn, heart racing.

“Fine by me. I like it when you bite.” And then he kisses me. He kisses me hard and deep and my stupid body lights up like a California brush fire.

My nerve endings ignite, and fireworks launch behind my closed eyes, and I moan into his mouth like he’s the best thing that’s ever happened to my lips. And he is, the bastard. He tastes so good, so incredibly good, like the first drink of water after hours spent boiling in the summer heat—fresh and clean and explosively delicious.

It triggered the pain, the need.
I knew what I had to do, and I did it well. But I never expected for Emma Turner – the only link to my past – to come back into my life.
She triggers a different emotion inside me, something I hadn’t ever felt.

4.5 Stars

I have read a few of L.P Dover’s series’ and they are awesome but I have a feeling this one is going to be my favorite! Trigger is the first book in the Circle of Justice series. It’s starts off with Preston and the girl he could never forget…

Eight years. It’s been eight years since Preston disappeared without a trace. One day him and Emma were in a band together and great friends and then the next he was gone. No goodbye. No explanation. Just gone. And now he is back but he isn’t that boy that played in the band. He was harder. Colder. And being a complete ass. Emma didn’t understand how this could be the same man and how her boss knew him. She said they were family friends but there seemed to be something more to it. And when she discovers that something more, she wanted to run but can she just let him go after just getting him back? Even if it’s not the same him she still feels the boy from the past. The one she would always remember. The one that would protect her. The one that looked at her differently. The one that kept his distance but never knew why.

Preston was shocked to see Emma at his boss Glenn’s house. Of course he knew who she was. He would never hurt her on purpose but he was back for one thing and one thing only. To find a killer. He didn’t need a distraction. He needed to find his target and do what he does best. Kill. But when Emma has other plans for their time together it’s hard to resist. He wants her. He has always wanted her. And now that he has a second chance, he doesn’t want to let her go. Will he be able to find justice before it’s too late? Time is ticking away before his eyes. Will he find the killer and protect Emma at the same time? Will he have to choose between the two things he wants most?

I loved Preston and Emma. Preston is a badass killer but with a big heart. Emma is an independent woman that doesn’t take Preston’s shit. She knows what she wants and goes for it. Together, they are hot, fun, and protective.

L.P has a way of balancing suspense and love perfectly. I wanted them to find each other again and at the same time I was trying to complete the puzzle to find a killer. Circle of Justice is really the best way to describe this agency. I am excited to read about the secondary characters in the upcoming books. They stayed in the background but I can tell they are going to be just as badass.

Overall…it’s suspenseful, sexy, and fun. It’s really the perfect mix for a book about justice and love.

Quotes:

“Did you fall and hit your head or something? Or were you always a super mega douche and I was too stupid to see it?”

“Most people don’t know the real me, Emma. I don’t even think I know who I am anymore.”

Preston was a bomb ready to explode, and there was nothing I could do about it.

EXCERPT

When I got downstairs to the dining room, Glenn and Wade were already there, speaking to each other in hushed tones by the large window. There were shiny plates on the table, with all sorts of silverware around them. Start from the outside and work your way in, was what I was told when it came to using the various forks and spoons. Give me just one of each and I’d be happy.

It wasn’t long before Glenn noticed me at the door and the conversation ceased. “Emma, you look lovely tonight,” he announced.

I smiled. “Thank you.”

He beckoned me over to the table and Wade held out a seat for me. I sat down and he took the one on the right, while Glenn sat on my left at the head of the table. There was only one other place setting and it was across from me.

“Wine?” Glenn asked, holding up the bottle.

I nodded. “Sure.”

He poured me a glass and I took a sip. It tasted like heaven, all fruity and crisp. It was so good I had to take another sip, and another, while we waited on the special guest. Not even a minute later, the dining room door opened and a man walked in. Only, he wasn’t just anyone.

It’d been eight years and he’d surely changed, but there was no mistaking those gray eyes. His hair was the same light brown, and mussed up like all the guys did their hair these days. However, his body looked totally different. His cream colored, long-sleeve sweater hugged a set of muscular arms, and his face was more rugged, covered in a five o’clock shadow.

I almost choked on my wine. “Oh my God.” Is it really him?

“Emma, are you okay?” Wade asked, his voice low.

“Yeah,” I whispered. “I’m fine.”

I waited for Preston to look at the table, and when his gaze finally caught mine, he paused for a slight second. In his face, I could see the friend I lost so long ago, but it vanished quickly.

Glenn and Wade both stood when Preston approached, and I shot up out of my seat, bumping the table with my jerky movements. Glenn grinned at me and then at Preston. “Preston Hale, I’d like you to meet Emma Turner. She’s my assistant. Emma, this is Preston Hale, a close family friend. His father is one of my dearest friends.”

Preston held out his hand and looked at me as if he’d never laid eyes on me before. “It’s nice to meet you.”

Was he being serious? I shook his hand and made sure to put a little extra squeeze in there for good measure. “Meet me? Surely, you remember who I am.”

Glenn’s eyes went wide. “Wait. You two already know each other?”

I nodded. “From college.” I was about to add before he up and left without a trace, but thought better of it.

Glenn chuckled and smacked a hand on Preston’s shoulder. “Well, isn’t this a small world? You’ll have to tell me some stories on this one.” He nodded my way.

Preston’s jaw clenched. “Can’t. Don’t remember her.”

My mouth dropped open; it was like being punched in the gut and slapped in the face, all at the same time. No words would come out, so I sat there with a lump in my throat. In college, he’d been a close friend. I sang with him in his band, Silent Break. We connected on stage in a way I’d never felt with anyone. I cared about him, and had even been ready to take the next step in our relationship right before he up and disappeared. I never got to tell him how I felt. Now he looked at me as if I was a stranger.

The room fell silent. I wanted to say something, but I bit my tongue. It was going to be the longest dinner of my life.

EVERY NIGHT WITHOUT YOU

Copyright (c) 2017 Violet Duke

“Go inside, Addison. Right now. While I’m still able to let you.”

Every cell in her body rebelled against the command.

“Please, honey. Don’t do that. Don’t flash that look at me. That stubborn rebel-in-stilettos sass will have you under me in your bed in two seconds flat.”

He groaned at whatever her eyes were telling him next.

To be fair, he started it with that panty-melting threat.

“Baby, you’re killing me.”

Right back at you.

He pushed open the door the rest of the way for her, one hand holding the top of the frame as if physically stopping himself from doing anything else.

For a while, the internal battles they each faced with themselves kept them both cemented where they stood.

But eventually, the growing torment and tension racking his entire frame made her back up a single step and clear the doorway.

“Lock the deadbolt.”

These overprotective demands just shouldn’t be this sexy.

She shut the door and laid her palm against it.

Knowing he was still out there, she confessed quietly to the wooden barricade between them, “That memory stayed with me, too. Even now, the only way I’m able to eventually fall asleep is to imagine your arms around me. Holding me. Keeping me safe.”

Loving me.

It was a full minute before she finally heard his heavy tactical boots walk away.

I can usually sit down and write a review in just a few minutes but I can’t with this one. I am literally in awe. It’s hard to put into words how much I loved this novel. I have written hundreds of reviews and this is definitely one of the hardest for me. I am at a loss for words and if you follow my reviews then you know that means something. This isn’t my first Margaret book so I should have seen it coming but no, it was more than I expected. Thank God, I joined her support group. Ok…going to try this.

Alice lives for ballet. She loves her family. She has found her soulmate in the form of her best friend Becky. She is like a sister to her. And recently, she has let the boy that has teased her since grade school into her life. Elijah doesn’t just want her. He feels in his heart that she is everything. That she could be the love of his life. He just needs her to believe too. At sixteen, your emotions, thoughts, dreams, passions are all over the place but these three knew exactly what they wanted. To dance. To play guitar. To be more than expected. At sixteen they didn’t see what was coming…

I know that was vague but I will talk more about the characters. I have felt connected to fictional characters, many, many times but I have never felt this connected. Ever. I felt like I was right there with them. Laughing at Becky’s ridiculousness, watching Alice dance, and driving with Elijah to one of his amazing surprises. And it wasn’t just them either, Alice’s parents play a major role in all of their lives. They are such a loving and beautiful couple. They make up a extraordinary family. The relationship between Becky and Alice is powerful. The one between Elijah and Alice is breathtaking. I will never forget these characters. They are special and I will keep them in my heart.

Now…feelings. I have never been so physically and emotionally drained from reading a book. My blog partner is in another state and she was worried about me. Now, I do cry while reading. Not always but if I do, it’s usually at one specific moment. In this book…I was crying for pages! When I thought I was done, it would happen again. I am going to give you two warnings. One: Have tissues. Two: Prepare for a book hangover. It’s rare when I can’t just pick up another book after writing my review and moving on. This is one of those times.

Overall…it’s one of the most beautifully written novels I have ever read. Even if you don’t read YA but you love the emotional ride of a story…read this book!! I don’t read many YA books but I love Margaret’s writing so it was a must. Thank you, Margaret for the ugly cry. Xoxo

🔹I guess the words came but it took 2 hours instead my usual 20 minutes!

P.S I’m hungry…read the book and you will understand.

Quotes:

“I want it to be perfect, Alice, because that’s what you deserve. And right now, I’m not perfect for you. But I promise you, I will be.”

“Only the best for my princess.”

“A real master of karate wouldn’t be telling me to stop running.”

There’s something about the written word that is pure magic.

Possibly it’s the fact there are 26 letters in the English alphabet, and they can create something so beautiful or so empowering they’re capable to change our lives.

How important is it that we break suit and stretch our minds?

I like to think of myself as ‘unique’. My stories aren’t for everyone, and sometimes I may push what you believe to be ‘normal’.

Normal is subjective.

I prefer to be known as a person who’s never been ‘bound by custom’ but is ‘unique by choice’.

I hope you do read and enjoy my stories.

Sandra's Review

5 Stars

Swing is the second book in the Landry Family series. Each book can be read as standalone since each one follows another amazing sibling in the family. The first book was Bennett’s story and now it’s time for Lincoln to step up to the plate at finding love. I was so excited for his story. I loved Lincoln in Sway so I knew there was a chance I would fall in love with him in Swing…

Lincoln’s only passion is for the game of baseball. It’s who he is. But when he threw that ball to home plate and heard his shoulder snap he was devastated. And now that his days were full of therapy sessions, staring at the wall, and driving himself crazy, he was bored out of his mind. He had six weeks to get his shoulder back into shape. And if it did heal, would he be going back to the team he loves, traded, or totally done? He hated the unknown. Baseball is his life. He didn’t have much else. He had his family but they were in Savannah. He could find a woman to keep him warm for the night but he didn’t want that either. He just wanted to play ball. That was until he saw her. A beautiful woman in a pink dress with raven hair that set him on fire. And when she all but rejected him…he wanted to know her even more.

Danielle Ashley knew exactly who Lincoln Landry was. She also knew he was her kryptonite. Hot, cocky, confident, charming, a baseball player and most likely has amazing stamina in the bedroom. She had to stay away from him. She could easily see herself falling for him. But, she doesn’t want the kind of life he would give her. She saw first-hand what it could do to a woman and a child. She was that child. But, at the same time she couldn’t walk away from him. She tried. He was just too much. Too sweet. Too sexy. Too much fun. She knew it couldn’t last forever but she wanted him right now. What she didn’t expect was for Lincoln to care so much about her. To listen to her worries. To want to know her dreams. To make her laugh. Could he convince her that not all baseball players were the same? That she should take the swing?

I loved this book! I wasn’t sure if Linc could take Barrett’s spot for top Landry but he did! He is passionate, sexy, funny as fuck, charming, sweet, and a family man. He made me laugh, swoon, and get hot all at the same time. So yummy! And then there is his girl, Dani. She is just as passionate about her work helping children. She is also independent, knows what she wants, sexy, and can also throw a mean fastball. Together, their banter and sexual innuendos are on point. Their chemistry is off the charts. But the rest of it makes them even more beautiful.

Overall…it’s full of laughs, tears, baseball, heartbreak, and love. It was so much fun to see how the rest of the family is doing. I love when they are all together. It’s so much fun!! It was also cool to see another couple from a different series sneak in there…

Quotes:

“Don’t take this the wrong way, Landry, but you’d be impossible to watch leave.”
“You don’t like the view of my ass?” he teases.
“Not as much as I like the view of your face.”

“Don’t act innocent. No one believes you.”

“Have some day games, maybe a double header or two. And I’ll slide in head first whenever you want me to, baby.”

***AND I have to throw in a Barrett quote:

Barrett reaches up and plucks a bunch of grapes off the tray before Vivian disappears into the kitchen again. “Look, Alison. Your favorite.”

Kara's Review

4.5 Stars

I’m a huge fan of Adriana. Her stories are always fun, fresh, sexy and emotional. Swing is the second book in the Landry Family Series. I loved Sway and I’ve been looking forward to Lincoln’s story. Lincoln is a famous baseball player who’s injured and not currently playing the game he loves. While he’s in physical therapy he meets a gorgeous woman who he can’t stop thinking about and who wants nothing to do with him. It’s not something he’s used to. Women literally throw themselves at him and he lives for it. But, there’s something about Danielle and her sassy, sexy self. He’s never had to chase a woman, but he’s happy to chase this one. He knows she’ll be worth it in the end. Danielle loves her job and her life is fine. Nothing exciting happens, but she’s ok with that. Until she meets the sexy ball player, Lincoln Landry. She does not do ball players. Period. She comes from that life and she won’t do that to herself. She just can’t. But, Lincoln isn’t going away. He’s not just a sexy body. He’s hilarious, funny, romantic and a real family man. She just can’t resist him anymore. She knows it can’t be anything permanent, but she can’t help herself. Her heart gets caught up too quickly. Lincoln has never felt this way about a woman. Ever. And he’s not about to let Dani go. Can he prove to her that he’s different than the other ball players? Will he hang up his player persona and make the final swing into love? I really enjoyed Swing. I knew Lincoln was going to be fun and he is, but he’s so much more! He’s funny, loyal, dedicated and loves with his whole heart. I love Lincoln, but he’s not my favorite Landry, I think I’m going to be a Graham girl!

“I want to know everything about you. The way you feel under my hands as I’m buried inside you, but I also want to know what makes you tick. How to make you laugh. The reasons you stay awake at night. What makes you smile.”

“I’ll tell you a secret,” he Graham says. “Chicks might like ball players. Women like suits.”

Excerpt

Why they call it a farmhouse is beyond me. That word paints an image of a little white house with a chicken coop. This is a Southern plantation. A huge, wide porch with pillars looks to encompass the entire place. Mums line whiskey barrels and give the clean exterior pops of burgundy, orange, and yellow. It’s breathtaking.

“This is gorgeous,” I breathe as it comes into full view. “Not what I expected.”

“This is my second favorite place in the world,” he whispers against my ear.

“Second? What could be more perfect that this?”

“Inside you.”

Before he can pull away, I turn my face so my lips capture his. He deepens the kiss, our lips working against one another in perfect harmony. As we pull away, breathless, he grins. “Thank you for coming.”

“I’ll ensure you come later,” I promise.

“Naughty girl,” he chuckles as the car rolls to a stop. “I like it.”

“You will.”

The bell chimes as the front door closes behind me. I’m to my car in record speed. I need space. I need air. I need to think. When my phone buzzes right before I pull out of the parking lot, I know it’s Pepper and she’s not going to quit until I give her something to occupy her mind.“Fine!” I nearly shout into the phone. “His cock is about ten inches, if I’m guessing, and he fucked me in about every position I could explain. My favorite, though, was the corkscrew. Not sure what that is? Google it.”

My finger goes to swipe off the call when I see the name on the screen and drop the phone. “Shit!” I cry, digging through the items on my passenger’s side floorboard until I find the glowing device.

My heart is pounding as I try to decide whether to end the call or talk to Lincoln. Mortified, I bring it to my ear and squeeze my eyes shut. He’s silent.

Maybe he didn’t hear. Please, God, don’t let him have heard that.

“Hello?” I eke out.

“I’d say ten inches is fair and I’ve made a note about the corkscrew. Glad I called,” he chuckles.
