Seven years ago, I gave my vow to a man.
Except it wasn’t a wedding…
Because Brett Jackson was the epitome of anti-marriage–a dirty-talking tattoo artist with a penchant for booze, bimbos and blue-eyed women.
I was none of those.
Guess that’s why he walks into my new apartment with my not-so-nice roommate on his arm…as her new boyfriend.
But this is not seven years ago. I’m over him; I really am.
So why does it bother me so much when he catches me naked in my new place?
Why does his searing stare at my body stay with me?
Why am I wishing for a repeat and wanting to break the most important vow I’ve ever made?
A vow that will break both me and Brett…and turn the Manhattan life I’ve built for myself upside down.
AUTHOR’S NOTE: This is a full-length, stand alone, best friend’s brother/second chance romance with humor, twists and heat. Enjoy!
The Vow is Natalie’s newest sexy standalone. I have read every word this author has written and have enjoyed them all. Her writing just keeps getting better and better. It’s been amazing following her journey as a writer. Now, it’s time to talk about this vow.
It’s been seven years since Elsie saw the boy who took her innocence and broke her heart. Now they are in the same city. She isn’t the same girl she was before. The one who made a vow to that same boy. She is stronger. More determined. And he certainly isn’t the same boy. He is all man. Broad shouldered. Tattooed. And even more of a dick. She didn’t want to ask for his help but she was stuck in a city she didn’t know anyone else. A city that could eat her alive if she let it. New York City where dreams are made or crushed. She was there to sing. To prove to herself and others that she was good enough.
Brett and Elsie thought their shared past was just that. In the past. It’s been years since they were in the same room but when they are once again, those feelings are still there. Hate. Love. Sexual tension beyond belief. They don’t know if they want to strangle or fuck each other. They both have their reasons for staying away from one another. The big one being Kayla, Brett’s younger sister and Elsie’s best friend. But can they keep their hands off each other while in the same city? Especially when the city seems so small. Can they let go of the past so they can conquer this city, together?
I loved this story!! Something about second chances just gets to me. The mistakes made. The emotional ride. The angst. The heat. The hate. The love. With Brett and Elsie is all of those things.
Overall…This is one of my favorite books by Natalie! The characters are both lovable and stubborn as hell. The writing kicks ass. The story made me laugh out loud, cry, and get all kinds of hot and bothered. The sexual tension makes it even hotter. And the added suspense pulled me in even more.
P.S. I can’t wait for the next book!!
P.P.S There is no cheating.
Even in high school, my best friend’s older brother is a man amongst boys.
The rain reflects my mood, drumming down incessantly like the lyrics of a sad love song.
“It’s my pleasure to end your pain, Miss Carpenter.”
The Vow is Natalie Wrye’s newest gem. I’m a newish fan of Natalie’s, but I’m a forever fan now! I’m a sucker for a good second chance romance and The Vow is perfection. Best friend’s brother. Teenage lust. Grown up love. It’s sticky and forbidden, but oh so good! Brett and Elsie had a few amazing nights together a long time ago. Now they are all grown up and in the same city. Elsie isn’t the innocent girl anymore and Brett definitely isn’t the teenage boy he was. He’s sexy, tatted and doing very well for himself. When Elsie finds herself alone and with nowhere to go she only has one choice. Call Brett. She doesn’t want to see him. Doesn’t want those old feelings to come back. He walked away and broke her heart. Brett can’t believe how gorgeous she is. He never forgot her and seeing her again is a kick in the heart. If he touches her again he’s going to fight for her and never let her go. Can they take the chance that they were denied in the past? Will they finally give in to their desire and take the chance together? I loved this story! I love how Natalie weaves in sexiness, angst, suspense, humor, friendship and family. I already need more Brett and Elsie.
It was supposed to be an innocent wager, a harmless game.
It turned out to be so much more.
Maybe that’s because everything involving Violet Keats was so much more. More frustrating. More pain-in-the-ass. More sexy than anything I’d ever seen.
You know what they say: All’s fair in love and the law. And what happens to Manhattan’s toughest lawyer when she ends up on the wrong side of my bitter family feud should be no different…
Until one night changes everything.
I knew what taking this dangerous bet would do to her. What I never bet on is what taking this gamble would do to me…

The King & Alpha, #1
Publication Date: September 23, 2017
Genres: Adult, M/M, Romance, Paranormal
An Enemies to Lovers
Shifter, Vampire True Mates story.
Justice Volkov is the youngest Alpha Zenith to ever lead the wolf shifters. Following in his father’s large paw prints was a responsibility he met head on. Now at age thirty-three, he is alpha of the alphas. As a direct descendant of the original Siberian pack, his wolf is bigger and stronger than Justice, himself is sometimes able to control.
“His wolf howled long and hard but Justice kept it inside. It felt like a bass drum beating against his rib cage. The harsh breaths, angry snarls and the determined pacing inside him was overtaking him. All the while… his mate kept calling.”
Justice takes his role of leadership and his legacy very seriously. He has little time for romance, not to mention a true mate. His packs are his priority. With a human government trying to regulate them, an uprising of rogue shifters, and a violent team of scientists trying to experiment on them, Justice has his hands way too full.
Chadwick ‘Wick’ Bentley is not enthusiastic when the captain of his escort tells him he has to leave his comfortable London home and go back to the States. As the Vampire King, he has no choice but to get his species back in line before they cause anymore chaos. At over two-hundred years old, Wick is no one to trifle with, but his smooth, charismatic manner makes him quite unique, despite the negative reputation vampires have. Wick has had nothing but time up to this point. He doesn’t feel the need to make issues pressing. Nothing is urgent in his life. Until he meets Justice. His beloved.
“Natural enemies can’t be mates.” Or so Justice thought. He knows his skepticism and rejection is hurting his mate, so while he fights their connection, Wick gets help from a source very close to Justice to help him win his beloved’s heart. Wick is a force all on his own, but when he’s blessed with a special gift from the Mother herself, not even Justice’s powerful wolf can prevent the prophesy from being fulfilled.
This story DOES NOT contain/mention MPREG.
No multiple pairings. It does not end on a cliffhanger and has an HEA.
Warning: This book is MM paranormal: If you DO NOT like hot, alpha men shifting into large wolves, or vampires feeding from their mates, this may not be your read.
SNEAK PEAK – EXCERPT
His animal growled and snarled inside him. Justice grunted and cursed while he fought to keep his wolf under control. What was wrong with him? What the hell was coming? He could feel it as sure as he could feel his beating heart, his racing pulse and his mighty wolf trying to get out and explore. He’d never had to reign in his animal so fiercely. Justice was finally able to open his eyes, not realizing they were squeezed shut in concentration.
“Justice! You’re forcing a lot of power, man.” Mac’s strong voice cut over the incessant presence trying to reach his mind.
Justice growled again. Something’s in my head. “Clear the room.” Justice’s voice was strained, spitting his words through clenched teeth. His wolf was clawing at him, ripping him apart, wanting out.
“Justice you’re scaring me. I can feel you fighting.”
He could hear his baby sister begging but he couldn’t focus on his siblings when he was barely keeping himself together. It had to be the Vampire King doing something to him. If Justice shifted and went crazy right here in a police headquarters, only the heavens knew what would happen to his people. “Get my family out of here.” Justice grabbed Alek’s arm in an authoritative grip. “Everyone. Out. Now.”
“We’re your betas. We won’t leave you, Justice,” Taleb snarled, looking in the same direction as Justice.
“Alek!” Justice thundered. He needed him to act for him.
“You heard your Alpha, Taleb. Warren, get them in the RV and back on the Humboldt pack lands now! Protect them with your lives,” Alek barked to the enforcers, who immediately began to shuffle Justice’s sister and his younger brothers out of the room and to the safety of their vehicle. Alek watched them down the hall until they turned out of view. His brother looked up and down the corridor before dipping back inside the room and locking the door.
“I think the Vampire King just turned the corner. Is it him doing this to you? I’ll kill him right now,” Alek growled.
“No!” Justice’s voice was sharper and stronger than he intended. He was still leaning hard against the wall farthest from the door for support, holding both clenched fists against his chest as if that alone could keep his wolf from bursting free. Justice closed his eyes and tried to center himself. He needed to breathe, relax. But with each second, the feelings intensified, an all-encompassing entity in his head.
“I can feel you too.”
“Oh shit. Was that you, Alek?” Justice grabbed his brother’s arm and yanked him to face him. “Did you just speak to me?”
“What? No? I am speaking to you now. Justice, goddamnit! You’re pushing too much energy.” Alek released a pained grunt. His brother looked like he wanted to break the window behind them and just get them the hell out of there. He’d never seen Justice behave this way, so out of control, and wasn’t sure what he was about to be faced with, but knew he may have to fight it alone because Justice was in a complete state of disorder.
It was an accented, smooth voice. “Something. Someone just said—” Then he smelled it. That faint, delicious scent that appeared last night was back, only it wasn’t diluted by nature’s elements. This time it was full strength, concentrated, and like nothing he’d ever smelled before. Impressive and so damn compelling. Justice’s thick cock pushed against his loose jeans and his wolf howled inside him, fighting to break free. His animal was so strong. Justice gritted his teeth together and hung on. Oh, Mother… please. Can’t… it just can’t. Justice heard footsteps right outside the door and his body began to shake from effort.
“Justice,” Alek warned. “You gotta tell me what’s going on, brother, so I can help you.”
How the hell was he supposed to explain this?
Justice saw the knob jiggle for a second before it was completely ripped from the door. Neither he nor Alek flinched at the show of strength. They had strength of their own. Justice thought dozens of vampires would storm the room, but only two walked in and Justice knew exactly which one was in his head. The Vampire King. The sexy, beautiful one. But how?

What About Her
by Emma Tharp
Publication Date: March 3, 2017
Genres: New Adult, Contemporary, Romance
FREE in KindleUnlimited: Amazon
It’s been six months since Willow left Kate Bergman’s college dorm room to go for an evening run…and never came back.
Everybody else who loved Willow is ready for closure, but something deep inside Kate says that her dearest childhood friend is somehow still alive. And that obstinate conviction is alienating all the people Kate loves most.
Even River McEwan is upset with her, and that’s the deepest blow of all. River was Willow’s boyfriend, but the three of them—Kate, Willow, and River—have been friends since childhood.
When a professor assigns Kate and River to be partners in a joint research project, Kate hopes it’s a chance to tear down the barrier between them, but instead faces an even bigger challenge. As she and River meet over the school project, their renewed friendship flares into something more.
Soon River is enticing Kate to do things she’s never dreamed of. But while she can’t imagine giving up River, Kate doesn’t know whether she can—or even should—stop wondering whether Willow will ever come home….
What About Her is Emma Tharp’s debut novel. I thought it was a great start for her writing career.
Willow has been gone for six months. Everyone around her has accepted that she is gone but Kate can’t shake the feeling that her best friend is still alive. Everything changed the day that Willow went for a run and never came back. Kate lost part of herself that day. She not only lost her best friend but she also lost her other best friend, River. They all grew up together but it was Kate and River until Willow came along a few years later. And at the time of Willow’s disappearance, she was dating River and they were together for a year. After that horrible day, River stopped talking to Kate. She didn’t understand why but she gave him the space he needed. She missed him. And now, they are forced to work through it because they are working on a project for class for the next month.
While River and Kate work through their friendship they start developing more feelings towards each other. Kate doesn’t want to like him in that way because it would complicate things. And what would people think if they found out about them? And her biggest concern is…what if Willow is alive? How would she react to her best friend being with her boyfriend? But, what if she isn’t alive? It’s been six months and River and Kate are finally feeling alive again since she disappeared. They are happy but will the guilt ruin what they could have before it even truly starts?
I enjoyed this story. It’s a story about friendship, love, and moving on. There is also the suspense of a missing Willow. I love trying to piece a mystery together so that is an added bonus. I liked the characters and as it went on, I liked them more and more. They are working on their new type of relationship and it’s complicated but also fun and flirty at the same time. That end? Yeah…I will definitely be reading the next book.
Overall…it’s a great debut and I am looking forward to more from Emma. The story flowed nicely. The characters are likable. And t has a bit of mystery. Great job, Emma.
That’s when it hits me. There’s a change in the air. The energy’s different between us.
“Oh, there is something you can help me with, but I’m not sure you’d like an audience.” He winks at me and licks his lips.
“Now that we’ve unleashed you, it looks like we’re going to have a hard time taming you.”
About Emma Tharp
Emma was raised in upstate NY. Being an only child, she spent a great deal of time alone dreaming up characters that would keep her company on long family road trips. Putting her writing on the back burner, she went to college and became a chiropractor. After spending 14 years healing patients, Emma decided—with the help of her amazingly supportive husband—to use the creative side of her brain and let her characters come to the page.
If she’s not writing, Emma can be found at the gym, one of her kids sporting events, Starbucks, or at a live music event.
A perfect day for Emma would be spent at her lake house with her husband, two ginger-haired children, and Vizsla, reading a book and drinking a large cup of coffee (or wine) with music playing in the background.
