5 Stars

The Knocked Up Plan is the newest book by the incredibly talented Lauren Blakely. As you know, I’m her biggest fan and I’ve read all of her books. I love them all for very different and special reasons. She’s one of the most talented writers I’ve had the pleasure of reading. She has a common “voice” that filters through all of her books, yet she always finds a fresh, new and witty way to tell a story. She makes her characters part of your life.  You love them and are invested in their happiness. Lauren always makes me laugh, cry, fan myself, get a little angry and then fall in love. Every damn time. It’s pure genius. The Knocked Up Plan is a little different than her other gems. It still has the same Blakely Blanket of Goodness, but the pattern is a little brighter. The feel a little softer. The tones a little deeper. We’ve met Nicole, we love Nicole and this is her story. She’s not sure she believes is love. She loves her friends and her dog, but she’s never been in love. She’s a talented, beautiful woman and she knows what she wants. She wants a baby. And she wants her sexy coworker, Ryder, to provide his DNA. She’s not shy or reserved so she just comes out and asks for it. Ryder used to have it all and now he’s just jaded when it comes to love. So, what’s the problem? Love is his job. So in exchange for his DNA he has a request for Nicole too and it just might save his career. Will the baby making shenanigans change the way Nicole and Ryder feel about love? Or will they just go back to friends when the bun is in the oven? The Knocked Up Plan is by far one of my favorite Lauren Blakely books! Ryder is just…perfection. Seriously. He’s sweet, nice, funny, handsome, smart, successful and a good listener. Add to that his sexiness and his dirty mouth and I was swooning all over the place. He’s right up there on my Blakely Boy list with Chris and Tyler and Jack. They are all fighting for first place. Ryder and Nicole are also one of my favorite Blakely couples. They think the same, have a lot in common and just go after what they want. They are also so fun and so funny! Overall, one of the best books of the year! I laughed, cried, got hot and bothered, laughed more and just pretty much smiled and wished I had a Ryder all my own!

5 reasons to love The Knocked Up Plan

  1. Ryder
  2. Nicole
  3. The sex
  4. Dogs
  5. Ryder

“What do you say we test out how it’s going to be with a kiss?”

“We get to kiss, too?” I tease.

“Woman, I’m  not just going to fuck you. There’s going to be kissing and fucking. Fucking and kissing. And coming.”

He wears dark jeans that fit him so damn well I bet they gossip to other jeans about how good it feels to hug his legs.

“Nicole. You miss the meant, don’t you.”

“Oh yeah, I do miss the meat.”

5 Stars

I just have to get this out of the way first…*swoon* Lauren Fucking Blakely never disappoints. With every book I fall in love even more with her writing and her characters. Ryder is definitely in my Top 5 Blakely Men list. And Nicole is up there for one of my favorite heroines. Together…they are everything and more.
Two dating radio show hosts. One as given up on finding the one. The other thought he found the one and got burned. He doesn’t want that again. So when his sexy co-worker explains what she wants most in life, he is willing to give it. A baby. No expectations. No future daddy duties. She just wants his swimmers. But, he has one condition. They create it the old fashioned way. Nicole has no problem signing on the dotted line. It’s not the first time she thought about what sex would be like with him. His voice alone could cause her to orgasm. Add in his sexy smirk, charm, and a million other assets, she can’t say no. He is the perfect donor. He doesn’t want commitment. There is no way they could fall in love. It’s just sex with a contract. It’s business, really. Right?
Let the baby making begin!! This is the fun part. The sexy as sin part. The part that will give Nicole exactly what she has always wanted. It’s supposed to be clinical, awkward, and nerve wrecking but it’s not. She knows when that bun is in the oven she is going to miss this. Ryder is a giver times ten. He is also so much fun. In and outside of the bedroom. But she knows this has to end. He doesn’t want all of this. He is just being a good friend. And getting his own pleasure at the same time. But, what if? What if things change between them after she gets knocked up?
Omg! This book is so much more than I expected. It was more emotional. I connected with Nicole and Ryder instantly. I just knew that I would fall hard for both of them. Yep! Nicole is girl crush worthy. And Ryder…oh, Ryder. Yes. He is hot. But he so much more. He has a big heart, sweet, protective, funny, and smart. I was rooting for this couple from the start. The connection was just there. You could feel it between them. And as they got to know each other it just got deeper and deeper. They are one of those couples that I won’t ever forget.
Overall…it’s one of those books that you don’t want to end. But at the same time you want to know how it will end. It’s a fun, sexy,  sweet, and emotional story. It’s full of sexiness, laughter, and tears. Thank you, Lauren for another Blakely Man to add to my list. I can’t wait for the next one.
Quotes:
He could read the phone book and make it sound like foreplay, which means everything he says makes you feel like a cat in mating season, even if he’s talking about changing the toner in the copy machine. I’d probably have a dirty dream about toner if he did.
“Let’s talk about cupcakes, baby.”
The man is obsessed with my pleasure. It’s his drug, his addiction, and I want to give him his fix.

✦The audiobook will be narrated by Sebastian York and Andi Arndt! Link coming soon! ✦

Excerpt

Yanking open the door, I head inside. I stride to the small cafe where Ryder said he’d wait for me.

My chest falls. The man is known for punctuality. I scan the white bakery case and the five round iron tables, but he’s not here. When I spin around and survey the bookshelves, my heart nearly leaps from my chest.

He’s in the . . .

Oh my fucking God, he’s waiting for me in the . . .

I bring my hand to my mouth, and I want to run, to leap into his arms. When he sees me, his blue eyes twinkle with mischief.

I am a teapot about to whistle. I am a dog dancing before dinnertime.

He taps the shelves and holds up a book.

A pregnancy guide.

He’s ten feet from me. But I sprint anyway, and I grin like a fool. I stop two inches from him and clamp my hands on his broad shoulders. “Is that a yes?”

“Yes—”

I tackle-hug him before he can say anything more. I knock the breath from him in an oomph as I rope my arms around his neck and crash into him.

“But I have one condition,” he says, embracing me back.

I’m crying tears of happiness, so I don’t care. “Anything. Name it.”

“You better hear it before you agree.”

The moment screeches to a halt. He’s going to want visitation rights. He’ll want lots of money. He’ll want summers, or weekends, or evenings out.

I unwrap myself from the warmth of his strong chest and swallow. “What’s your condition?”

“I thought it would be best to present it in the form of a column.”

“A column?”

“Top five list and everything.”

I groan inside. He has five conditions? Maybe my mother was right. Maybe asking for baby-mix from someone you know is a big mistake. Anonymous donors request nothing but greenbacks.

I steel myself as he fishes in the back pocket of his jeans. The paper is square, folded in quarters. He hands it to me. “Open it.”

I unfold it then read the headline out loud. “‘Top Five Positions for Getting a Woman Pregnant’?”

I blink and stare at him. The cogs turn slowly in my brain. I part my lips to speak.

He raises a hand to silence me. “Hear me out. You explained how it worked. The room, the cup, the magazines, the videos. The whacking off in a fucking public place. The cost. But most of all . . . the wait.
You’d have to wait for an appointment for me, for the testing, for the jerking off, then for your special date with the turkey baster.” He cups my cheek. His hand is big and warm. “What if we did it the
old-fashioned way?”

“A refreshing take on the baby trope, The Knocked Up Plan is as sweet as it is naughty. Blakely not only balloons Nicole and Ryder’s incredibly powerful chemistry to new heights with their steamy love scenes, but she also infuses sweet emotion into every single one of their interactions.”

– USA Today

“Wildly romantic! Incredibly sexy! Hilarious and sweet! The Knocked Up Plan HAD IT ALL! The PERFECT romance to kick your Summer into HIGH GEAR! Ryder and Nicole are Lauren Blakely’s BEST CHARACTERS YET!”

About Kristen Ashley:

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA and nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorize and she hadn’t taken her first breath!). Her mother said they took Kristen away, put her Mom back in her room, her mother looked out the window, and Gary was on fire (Dr. King had been assassinated four days before). Kristen’s Mom remembered thinking it was the end of the world. Quite the dramatic beginning.

Nothing’s changed.

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana and has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus, she’s blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her family was (is) loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. They all lived together on a very small farm in a small farm town in the heartland. She grew up with Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing, it keeps getting better.

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jay Crownover continues her delightfully sexy Saints of Denver series with the next thrilling standalone, SALVAGED! Don’t miss this amazing new novel and grab your copy today!

Hudson Wheeler is a nice guy. Everyone knows it, including his fiancée who left him with a canceled wedding and a baby on the way. He’s tired of finishing last and is ready to start living in the moment with nights soaked in whiskey, fast cars, and even faster girls. He’s set to start living on the edge, but when he meets Poppy Cruz, her sad eyes in the most gorgeous face he’s ever seen hook him in right away. Wheeler can see Poppy’s pain and all he wants to do is take care of her and make her smile, whatever it takes.

Poppy can’t remember a time when she didn’t see strangers as the enemy. After a lifetime of being hurt from the men who swore to protect her, Poppy’s determined to keep herself safe by keeping everyone else at arm’s length. Wheeler’s sexy grin and rough hands from hours restoring classic cars shouldn’t captivate her, but every time she’s with him, she can’t help being pulled closer to him. Though she’s terrified to trust again, Poppy soon realizes it might hurt even more to shut Wheeler out—and the intense feelings pulsing through her are making it near impossible to resist him.

The only thing Poppy is sure of is that her heart is in need of some serious repair, and the more time she spends with Wheeler, the more she’s convinced he’s the only man with the tools to fix it.

Salvaged is the last book in the Saints of Denver series (cue tears here!). I quickly fell in love with all of these characters throughout the entire series. Jay Crownover’s writing is captivating, emotional and fantastic. She’s a go-to-author for me and I patiently wait for her next masterpiece. Salvaged is Wheeler and Poppy’s story. We’ve me them in the previous books. Poppy has had a horrible past at the hands of the men in her life who were supposed to protect her. She’s convinced she’ll never be able to be close to or trust another man again. Until she meets Hudson Wheeler. The sweet, sexy, ginger who’s a magician with cars. There’s just something about him that allows Poppy to breathe again. To trust herself and to want. He’s big and tatted, but he’s gentle. Wheeler has wanted Poppy since the minute he saw her. It wasn’t just her beauty. He wanted to protect her. Keep her safe. He knew about her past and he just wanted to be there for her. The timing is just right for them to be together. Wheeler is patient and loving and Poppy is coming back to herself. She’s strong, funny and doesn’t want to be afraid anymore. Can Wheeler and Poppy overcome their pasts and make a future together? I loved everything about this story! I laughed, cried, got hot and bothered, got mad, cried some more and laughed again. Overall it’s a story about trusting yourself. Knowing you deserve a second chance at love and going after what you want even though you are afraid. I think Jay saved the best for last! I couldn’t get enough of Wheeler and his sexiness, his sweet term of endearment for his girl, that hair and those to die for dimples. Swoon! I’m sad for the end of the series, but I’m just so glad that I’ve met these sexy, heroes and their strong, beautiful women.

The dimples were too much, and the freckles were overkill. It wasn’t fair. A man shouldn’t be allowed to look both badass and adorable.

“I don’t want to be a guest in your life, Poppy. I’m not interested in visiting your heart. I want to move in, stake my claim, and plan roots so deep nothing will ever be able to move me out.”

“That’s what I do, ya know. I put things back the way they were supposed to be. I make things the way they were before someone didn’t treat them right.”

EXCERPT:

“I don’t know that I have the time to take on a puppy right now, Poppy.” He lifted a hand and rubbed it across the back of his neck. His mahogany-colored eyebrows pulled into a vee over the top of his nose and the corners of his mouth pulled down in a frown that was too harsh for his pretty face. I liked it much better when he smiled and his twin dimples cut deeply into his cheeks.

I bit my bottom lip to keep the distressed noise that I could feel climbing up the back of my throat at bay. I knew he might say no but I couldn’t hide the fact that I was disappointed by his decision. I honestly felt like he and the puppy would be good for one another, that they could bring a little joy into each other’s life. It broke my heart a little that Wheeler wasn’t ready to open his heart up again, even when it was to something that was so obviously eager to love him unconditionally and irrevocably, unlike his ex.

“It’s okay, Wheeler. Like I said, I’ll take him home until I can find a place for him. I’m sure Dolly could use a friend.” I crouched down and wiggled my fingers to get the dog’s attention, and grinned when he bounded over, tripping over his front legs as he scrambled in my direction. “I can take him to work with me and hold on to him until I figure something out. One of the boys at the shop will step up if Dixie doesn’t want another dog.”

I heard him sigh and looked up to see him watching me intently. He opened his mouth like he was going to say something, then let it snap shut with his teeth audibly clicking together. I didn’t know much about Wheeler, but what I did know I liked. He was nice. He was polite. He was thoughtful and he was kind. But more than any of those things, he went out of his way to hold himself in a way that wasn’t threatening or intimidating because he was aware without me saying a word how jumpy I was around people, men in particular. I hated that they were bigger than me. I hated that I knew firsthand how badly they could hurt me if they had a mind to. I hated that I wilted and cowered under their attention, even if it was innocent and friendly. The fact that he took care not to spook me spoke volumes and made me feel awful for putting him in such an awkward position.

“Poppy…” He sounded regretful and I had no interest in dragging the torture out any longer for either of us. I scooped up the dog and buried my nose in the top of his head.

“Seriously it’s no big deal. I love him and I’m happy to wait until I can find him a proper home. It was stupid of me not to consider how busy you are with everything you have going on in your life right now. A puppy is a big commitment and that’s not something you can put on someone else without discussing it with them first.” The dog swiped his tongue across my face, no doubt feeling my distress and rising panic. I wanted to tuck his warm little body to my chest and run away like I was trying to score a touchdown in the other team’s end zone. “I should have known better.”

5 Stars

Lost and Found Sisters is Jill Shalvis new masterpiece for her new series, Wildstone. I was reading before I even knew what blogging was. She’s one of my go to authors. I know that every time I pick up one of her books I’m going to laugh, cry, swoon, laugh more and fall in love. Her writing is always fantastic, her characters well developed and real. They have fun and keep me entertained from start to finish. I think Mick just jumped up the list of my favorite Shalvis men. He’s sexy, smart, funny and isn’t afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve. Quinn loves her life and her job in LA. She’s a sous-chef with loving parents, and an awesome best friend. She’s still grieving the tragic loss of her sister two years later. She just hasn’t been the same since. When she learns of an inheritance she can’t help but be intrigued. So she does something very unlike herself, she takes a drive to Wildstone, CA, just a few hours away. It’s nothing like she thought it would be. It’s small and quaint, but it’s beautiful. There’s no coffee shop and no wifi, but there is a sexy stranger who helps her sleigh a ginormous spider! Mick was instantly attracted to Quinn. There’s just something that calls to him. She’s gorgeous and well put together but she’s also silly and a little vulnerable. Quinn is about to learn a lot of information in a very small amount of time. Her world gets turned upside down and it seems the only thing anchoring her to the ground is Mick. He seems to get her more than her family does. He just knows what she needs. Quinn has a lot of decisions to make and they are all terrifying. After spending time in this little town with its crazy, nosy neighbors, killer chickens, a one eyed cat, ghosts and a fifteen year old girl who seems to want nothing to do with her, Quinn realizes she needs to follow her heart. Will her heart keep her in Wildstone? Will she be able to leave her life in LA and make a new one with Mick and this town? I loved this story. It’s different than Jill’s normal sexy, funny romances, but I loved all the differences. There’s so much more than just a romance happening here. Quinn is on a life changing quest in a way. She needs to find out who she is now. Who she wants to be and where she belongs. I loved her journey and meeting these new characters! I can’t wait for more!

“If it’s got tires or testicles, it’s gonna give you trouble.”

She watched him stride off. Maybe she couldn’t find her feels, but apparently she could still appreciate a nice ass.

“Loves pizza. Snorts when she laughs. Cute.”

Then he stripped the rest of his clothing off, making her realize three things. One, he wasn’t remotely shy about being naked. Two, he had no reason to be. And three, he still took her breath away.

Excerpt:

“Mick?” she whispered.

“Yeah?”

“Are you feeling something?”

“You could say that,” he murmured. “You?”

She licked her lips and he nearly groaned. “I think so,” she whispered.

“That’s good.”

“Are you going to kiss me?”

He cupped her face, let his thumbs trace her jawbone, his fingers sinking into her silky waves. “No,” he said quietly. “And not because I don’t want to, but because when I do, I want to know you’re ready. That you’ll feel it.”

She sighed. “Guys do whatever they want all the time, no emotions necessary. I want that skill.” Another shaky breath escaped her, and since they were literally an inch apart, they shared air for a single heartbeat during which neither of them moved.

Her gaze dropped to his mouth. “Okay, so I’m definitely feeling things.” She hesitated and then her hands came up to his chest. “Maybe we should test it out to be sure.”

God, she was the sweetest temptation he’d ever met, and he wanted nothing more than to cover her mouth with his. Instead, he brushed his mouth to her cheek.

“Please, Mick,” she whispered, her exhale warming his throat.

He loved the “please,” and he wanted to do just that more than anything. But when she tried to turn her head into his, to line up their mouths, he gently tightened his grip, dragging his mouth along her smooth skin instead, making his way to her ear.

“Not yet,” he whispered, letting his lips brush over her earlobe and the sensitive skin beneath it.

She moaned and clutched him. “Why not?”

It took every ounce of control he had to lift his head and meet her gaze. “Because I want to make sure you’re really with me, that you’re feeling everything I’m feeling. That there’ll be no doubt, no regrets.”

“You sure have a lot of requirements.”

He laughed. And she was right, it was all big talk for a guy who didn’t do relationships anymore. Still, he forced himself to step back and shut the passenger door.

As he rounded the hood to the driver’s side, he tried to remind himself of all the reasons she was a bad idea. He lived two hundred miles away and he was hoping to move his mom up by him and never come back here. Not to mention that Quinn lived an equal two hundred miles in the opposite direction and she was in a deeply vulnerable place. No way would he even think about taking advantage of that.

But when he slid behind the wheel and their eyes locked, he realized that while his mind could stand firm, the rest of his body wasn’t on board with the in-control program.

Kara's Review

5 Stars

EXCERPT:

I didn’t want her to be scared of anything ever again.

Things at home had been rocky, rougher than class-five rapids in winter, but I was paddling for my life and prepared to ride it out. I couldn’t let go. I wouldn’t let go. I saw Poppy the day she walked through my shop and I started to feel how sore my hands and my heart were from holding on.

Her head was down, focused on the tips of her shoes. Her shoulders were hunched over and her long hair hid her face. She was skinny, so skinny, nothing but skin and bones. She was nothing that I should have noticed, not because she was clearly doing everything in her power to be invisible, but because I was supposed to have my eyes locked on my future and doing whatever I could do to salvage it. But I did notice her and I couldn’t look away once I did.

She was obviously terrified, clearly out of her element and uncomfortable, but it wasn’t her unease that called to me…it was her loneliness. I could feel it filling up the space that separated us. Stretching, growing, expanding until it was all I was breathing in and exhaling back out. It was bitter on my tongue and heavy across my skin because I knew the feeling well. I lived with it pressing me down and pushing me forward every minute of every day. The reason I was so set on the way things had to be, the reason I was singlemindedly set on settling down and building a life with the girl that was slipping through my fingers was because I never again wanted to be as alone as this girl was. I didn’t want to be left and forgotten. I’d barely survived it the first time.

I did my best to sell her a car that was as beautiful as she was…a classic with clean lines and a flawless finish. She picked something practical and boring but that was ultimately safe and reliable. I understood her choice but it grated and annoyed me long after she left the shop. When she wasn’t standing in front of me, she should have been easy to forget; after all, everything in front of me, everything I had been working for and toward, was falling down in front of my eyes. My world was collapsing in on itself and everything I thought I was so goddamn sure about turned out to be nothing more than lies and illusions. In the middle of all of it, I couldn’t forget her sad eyes and shivering, shaking form. Her loneliness clung to me, unshakable and unforgettable. I didn’t think I would see her again and against my better judgment I often found myself wondering how she was doing and if she had gotten a handle on all the things that seemed to be crushing her under their inescapable weight.

I was wrong about seeing her again, just like I was wrong about thinking that doing everything in my life differently from how my mother had lived hers would ensure my happiness and a future built on an unshakeable foundation. I was wrong about hard work and sacrifice being enough. I was wrong about holding on when what I was holding on to desperately wanted me to let go. All I was left with was bleeding palms, rope burns around my heart and scars on my soul.

The next time I saw Poppy Cruz it was my loneliness that was filling up the space, suffocating me, choking me, making me forget to handle her with care. I was nothing more than a vast, open wound. One that was raw, aching, throbbing, and leaking my heart and shattered emotions out everywhere. I felt like I’d lost everything, like my entire life had been nothing but a waste of time, nothing more than building blocks knocked over with the swipe of a careless hand. The girl I loved didn’t love me back, my future was ultimately nothing more than a fuzzy, fractured blur. I couldn’t see anything clearly other than waste and ruin.

But I saw her. And I saw that I scared her.

It was the last thing I wanted to do but my loneliness was just as big and just as consuming as hers was. It spread out, hungry and angry, looking to consume anyone that might try and challenge its reign.

I tried to pull myself together, apologized because I knew our paths would cross again now that she lived next door to my best friend. I didn’t want to be another man that she was terrified of. I locked the loneliness down, wrestled it into submission, and tried to quiet down the wild inside of me that was howling, screaming at the loss of its mate. I wanted to be nothing more than gnashing teeth and tearing claws but I swallowed those instincts and allowed myself to be like a kicked puppy that just wanted to whimper and cry.

Poppy had been through more than I could imagine. She was the one I couldn’t look away from, but even then, she managed to slip past me and disappear. She looked like honey but she moved like a ghost. I memorized everything about her even though she hardly let me see her face.

I wasn’t supposed to be looking at anything other than how to salvage the mess my life was in, but she was all I could see.

Excerpt:

Coop whined and Mick looked down at the twelve-year-old golden retriever, ball in his mouth. Coop panted happily and dropped the ball at Mick’s feet, his rheumy brown eyes ever hopeful.

Mick shook his head. “Last time I threw it, you decided you didn’t mean it.”

Coop gave a talkative “woo woo woo.”

Translation: Mick was full of shit. “I had to go get it myself,” he reminded the dog. “Remember that?”

This bought him another “woo woo woo.”

“Okay, okay.” Mick picked up the ball, and because there was a lot of old-man dog pride on the line here, he gave it a dramatic throw, making sure it went only about twenty feet.

Coop gave an energetic leap. A single energetic leap. After that, he eyeballed the sea of sand ahead of him, huffed out a sigh, and sat. Then he craned his big, fuzzy golden head and gave Mick a sad-eyed look.

“Are you kidding me?” Mick asked him.

Coop lay down, set his head on his front paws, and stared forlornly out at the ball that his brain wanted to chase but his sore joints and tired body wouldn’t allow. It was a daily reminder for the dog, who in his own mind clearly wasn’t elderly, forgetful, or more than half deaf. Nope, in Coop’s opinion, he was still a rambunctious, energetic puppy.

Mick blew out a sigh and fetched the damn ball. When he came back, the dog sat up, eyes bright, tongue lolling.

“Not a chance,” Mick said on a laugh. “I’m not throwing it again. This was about your exercise, not mine. I already had my run today.”

A Lexus pulled up. A woman sat behind the wheel and stared out at the dunes and the ocean. All Mick could see of her was a cloud of whiskey-colored waves of hair and a pale face. She stared at the water and then set her head to the steering wheel and banged it a few times.

Then, head still down, she went utterly still.

Coop whined about the ball and nudged Mick’s knee, eyes pleading.

With a head shake, Mick threw the ball five feet.

Coop happily pounced on it.

While his dog pranced around proudly, ball in his mouth, Mick turned back to the car. The woman hadn’t moved. Had she knocked herself out? Was she still breathing? “What do you think?” he asked Coop. “Stay out of it, or ask her if she’s okay?”

Coop, who’d never been impressed by a single one of the women in Mick’s social life, yawned.

“Right,” he said. “Stay out of it.”

But the woman suddenly sat up straight and fumbled her way out of the car, falling to her knees on the rough gravelly asphalt, gulping in air like she was suffocating.

Realizing she was hyperventilating, Mick rushed to her and crouched at her side, having to push Coop back from making her acquaintance—which he tended to do with a rude nose push to the crotch. “Stay,” he ordered and looked the woman over.

Young. Late twenties maybe. Definitely having a panic attack of some kind. Not touching her, he spoke quietly and calmly. “Take a deep breath through your nose.”

She had to quiet herself to hear him, but she did as he said. She took a deep breath, shuddery as it was.

“Good,” he said, still holding Coop back from trying to say hello. “Stay.”

“What?” she gasped.

“Sorry, not you. My nosy-ass dog. Keep breathing. That’s it,” he said when she worked at it.

When she had it under control, she met his gaze, her own eyes hooded and clearly embarrassed. “I’m sorry.”

“Don’t be.”

Coop, tired of being held back, shoved his big old head between them and licked her from chin to forehead. Mick palmed the dog’s face and pushed his head away from the woman whose shoulders were now shaking.

Aw, hell. He patted his pockets—for what, he had no idea. It wasn’t like he carried tissues or napkins on him to offer her. He rose to his feet to go search the truck, which was when she lifted her face and he saw that she was shaking with laughter, not tears.

She was laughing at his ridiculous dog.

Sandra's Review

5 Stars

My Kinda Night is the second book in the Summer Sisters series by the very talented Lacey Black. I have read and loved every book she has written and they just keep getting better and better. Hotter. Deeper. Sweeter. If you read My Kinda Kisses then you might remember Payton. She is the oldest sister of six and owns the local flower shop, Blossoms and Blooms. She is also the sister that doesn’t want to be part of a couple. She doesn’t even want to date. But we did get a glimpse at the end of Kisses about a sexy night with a mystery man…
Dean doesn’t date. And he definitely doesn’t date his clients. He made that mistake once but it’s something he will never regret since it gave him his beautiful five year old daughter, Brielle. And ever since then she has been his world. He didn’t have time for a relationship and he really didn’t want one. That was until Payton Summer walked into his life. And after he had a taste of her six months ago, he couldn’t stop thinking about the independent, funny, and sexy woman. They agreed after that night that it would stay professional. Well…they said that every time after the deed was done. He knew she wasn’t  looking for more either but after a weekend together, he wanted to say Fuck the rules. Now all he has to do is convince her to say Fuck it too and take a risk at more.
Payton has her reasons for staying single. She was hurt once and doesn’t want to repeat it so why take that chance? She was doing fine with her decision. That was until Dean. His glasses. His appeal. His scent. Everything called to her. She knew she should stay away from him. She just couldn’t. Especially after that weekend. Now she has to decide if she can do this. Date knowing that it couldn’t go past this. Sex. Amazing mind-blowing sex. Some phones calls. She knows she could easily fall for Dean. She knew that from the moment she saw him. But can it really be more after she tells him why he walls are so high around her?
Dean and Payton’s relationship is both complicated and easy. It’s easy because they are comfortable with each other. Their talks are easy flowing. Their chemistry is undeniable. But then there is the complicated side. They both weren’t looking for anything more than fun. And Dean has Brielle. They are a package deal. A very sweet and beautiful package but is Payton ready to open herself up to the possibility of opening that package and keeping it?
I love, love, love this couple! Dean is geeky sexy! Those glasses. Damn. And the way he can dirty talk while wearing those glasses and a suit in his office. Hot fucking damn. He didn’t even know he had that in him and it made me love him even more for it. I thought it was awesome that Peyton did that to him. Brought out sexy, alpha side of him. And Peyton…she is beautiful, sweet, independent, funny, sexy, and the best older sister ever. Together, they are magic. And with Brielle…it’s magnificent. I can’t even with her cuteness. One of my favorite little girls in the written word. And I can’t forget her family…her wild, fun and supportive family. Her sisters are amazing but her grandparents are epic!
Overall…Lacey has done it again. She has amazed me. She had me laughing out loud to the point my kids thought I was crazy. She made me swoon and feel hot all over, sometimes even at the same time. She also made me cry! I can not wait for the next books. Every one of the Summer sisters deserve their happy ever after and I am excited to see them get their happily ever afters.
Quotes:
There’s no way I’ll be able to sleep tonight with the Louisville Slugger in my pants wanting to come out for batting practice.
“Please be rough. I like it when you take what you want, because you make it feel so good when you do.”
“You know, porn. I don’t like to use the dirty words before I’ve had my dinner.” I almost spit out my mouthful of Coke. ~ Grandma
5 Stars

My Kinda Night is the second book in the Summer Sisters series by the ever talented Lacey Black. This series has all the things I love in a series. Family, fun, heart, sex, humor, foreplay, loyalty, angst and love. I’m already so involved with these characters that while I was reading My Kinda Night it felt like a family reunion. Cue the wildly inappropriate grandparents, the meddling sisters, the food and the sex talk. Aren’t all families like that? I love all of the sisters. They each have a role in the family dynamic. Payton is the oldest. She wants to take care of everyone and she’s still trying to recover from her heartbreaking past. I’m all about Dean. The sexy, nerdy, glasses wearing, perfectly knotted tie, dirty-mouthed hero who stole my heart from the start. There’s just something about his strength, his determination, the way he loves his daughter, and his loving heart that makes me swoon. Ok, it might be the glasses. And the suits. Payton and Dean start their relationship out with a bang. But neither of them can have a relationship right now. After a weekend rendezvous, they can’t stop thinking about each other. Dean didn’t see her coming, but he wants her for more than a few nights. Payton never thought she’d find love, but there’s something about Dean that calls to her. Can she open her heart up to the sexy accountant? Will Dean convince Payton to take a chance on him? I loved this story. So much! Dean and Payton are perfect for each other. I laughed, cried, got hot and bothered, laughed more, swooned and cheered at the end. I loved that Dean knew what he wanted and he wasn’t going to let Payton walk away without a fight!

I never really had a type, but if I did, he’d be it. A little bit nerdy mixed with a lot of masculine. He’s like gravity; my body is drawn to him

I crave her with a fierceness I’ve never expected, and certainly never experienced.

Catch up on the series today!

Exclusive Excerpt:

It’s a Summer sister tradition that on the first Saturday of each month, the six of us get together. We take turns picking the location or activity, anything from margaritas and a movie to wine and painting classes at the small gallery uptown. One thing, though, is as certain as the sun rising over the Chesapeake Bay every morning; there will be alcohol involved.

Always.

Tonight, it’s another stupid painting class. Create and Paint, that’s what this class is called. I prefer to call it “Painting sucks, let’s get drunk!” while I chug my fruity Moscato because that’s the only wine worth drinking. Abby whips out red every once in a while and I swear to God Almighty that I’m going to shrivel up and die like those nasty, sour grapes used to create red wine.

I’m the oldest of six Summer girls. Of course, I’m the boss, the leader, and the best at everything (except painting, obviously). As I approach my thirty-third birthday in a couple of weeks at the end of January, I also realize that spending time with my sisters as much as I do is going to become more of a challenge.

Jaime is three years younger than me. She’s the sister who ran away to college and never came back. Well, at least until her fiancé left her the week before the wedding. She moved home, had to move in with our dad and grandparents, and worked for me at Blossoms and Blooms for a short period of time.

Then she met Ryan. Watching those two discover their love for each other was like watching soft porn. Sparks and hormones flew like fireworks every time those two were within a fifty-foot radius of each other.

AJ is the third sister at twenty-eight, or Alison Jane as her birth certificate states. Though, we’ve called her by her nickname for as long as I can remember. She’s the eighth grade math teacher at Jupiter Bay Junior High, home of the Hawks, where she’s taught ever since receiving her teaching degree. She has also enrolled in online classes for her Master’s degree. As of January twentieth, AJ will be a night student.

After AJ comes Meghan. She’s twenty-six and a hygienist at the local dental office. How someone can work inside another’s mouth all day and not get grossed out is beyond me. But she does it. Daily. Meg is also engaged to Josh, a man who treats her like the princess she is. Meg and Josh became engaged in December during a romantic trip to New York City for their anniversary. He went all out: Empire State Building, fancy dinner, down on one knee. It was perfect, just like they are.

Rounding out the Summer sisters are the twins, Lexi and Abby. Lexi, short for Alexis, gives me a run for my money in the boss department and is a hairdresser uptown. She’s married to her high school sweetheart, Chris, who rarely attends any of our family functions. He’s busy trying to take over the financial world, and believes that the only way to achieve that is to work nonstop. I don’t think it’s all roses and fairytales at the Jacobson house.

Abby, or Abigail, was born mere minutes before Lexi, but is as different as can be. She’s reserved, quiet, and shy in ways that the rest of us aren’t. Abby is an English Literature major and works as an editor for a major publishing house out of California. She’s on her computer all day, and rarely ventures out of her little apartment. It’s my goal in this new year to get her out and into the dating world, especially in light of the fact that her love for her best friend is unrequited. Levi is a great friend, but doesn’t see the wonderful woman before him. He’s too busy sticking his penis inside of every woman in the state of Virginia. (I say that lovingly.)

Let’s not forget our father, Brian, and our grandparents, Orval and Emma. Inappropriate doesn’t quite adequately describe the older couple who helped raise all six of us after our mom died. I was seventeen when she succumbed to ovarian cancer, leaving my father behind to get six girls through the teenage years. Enter the grandparents. I’ve got stories for miles, but we’ll get to those later.

Born and raised in Jupiter Bay, a small town of about eight thousand along the Chesapeake Bay, I’ve become accustomed to the small town lifestyle. I own the local flower shop, where I devote every ounce of my soul to making it a success. I’m not gonna lie, I had my doubts there at the beginning. I didn’t know anything about running a business, but was determined to make it work. It’s a lot of work, especially with a small staff of one other employee to keep overhead down, but I’m successful. And proud of it!

And that brings us to tonight. It’s the first Saturday of the New Year and we’re busy celebrating with sandcastles and wine. Hops and Grapes, a local retailer for microbrews and wines made on the east coast, is the place for tonight’s Paint and Create class. Right now, my beach scene resembles something a kindergartener would draw with finger paints.

“Mix together a little white with the brown until you get the light sandy color you’re looking for. Dab your brush in the water and then in the paint, and make long strokes across the canvas.”

Giggles erupt beside me. “She said long strokes,” Lexi whispers not so quietly.

“I get to make long strokes. Ryan is impressively large in the man-junk area,” Jaime says, gulping the last of her wine.

“Yes, we know. You tell us every chance you get.” This from Abby.

“Yeah, it’s starting to get annoying. If I had an impressive man-sword waiting for me at home every night, I’d never leave the house,” AJ adds.

“Not worth it. I’ll take my rabbit over a man any day. That baby has seven speeds and a rotating head,” I grumble, making a mess out of my sandy beach.

“Stop being so grumpy. Maybe if you actually had the real deal for a while, you wouldn’t be so damn cynical all the time,” Jaime says from across the table. She never takes her eyes off her canvas as she makes smooth, straight brushstrokes.

My face burns and I pray the vultures I share genes with don’t notice. Of course I don’t get so lucky. I’ve always said if it weren’t for bad luck, I wouldn’t have any luck at all. Trying to concentrate on my masterpiece, I keep my eyes down and focused on the sandcastle in the corner of the scene.

“I think there’s more to the story! Do you see her blushing?” Meghan’s laughter flits from the opposite end of the table. How in the hell she can see my face is beyond me. It’s probably that sister-radar all of us possess. It’s so damn annoying.

“I am not.” It’s a weak defense, I know, but it’s all I’ve got.

“Deny it all you want, big sister, but your face is definitely blushing,” Lexi adds.

“Ladies, when you get your sandcastle the way you want it, we’ll add a few details and highlights before moving on to the water.” The woman instructing our class has worn a constant smile the entire hour we’ve been here, and frankly, I’m starting to think she hit the sauce way before our arrival tonight.

“Why does my sand look like cellulite?” AJ asks. “I give up. I’m just drinking from here on out.”

Jaime glances over at our sister’s painting. “My God, that’s horrible. Thank God you’re not the art teacher!”

“Cheers,” AJ replies, raising her glass and tapping it against Jaime’s.

“Any wedding plans yet, Meg?” Abby asks, wetting her brush before swiping it through the paint. Always the perfect student, that one.

“Not yet. We’re thinking fall, though.” Meghan’s face lights up at the mere thought of her pending nuptials to Josh.

“That’ll be the perfect time.” Abby’s able to keep her smile happy when she’s in discussion, but I’ve seen the desolation in it too. Even tonight, I see something in her eyes that makes me sad. I’m sure her best friend is the root of her anguish, but I won’t call her out on it tonight. That’s a conversation to have at another time (with less alcohol).

By the time our three-hour torture session is up, each of us has painted waves rolling onto the beach, with a shovel, pail, and sandcastle. We pose as a group for pictures, each of us proudly displaying the fruits of our labor. My sisters each discuss where they’re going to hang their newest creation, while I contemplate which closet I’ll throw it in.

“Yours is great,” Abby says with a big smile.

“Helen Keller could have done a better job,” I retort with a snort of laughter.

As we say good night and thank the instructor, we all walk out together into the crisp early-January night. Not surprisingly, Josh and Ryan are waiting. Jaime and Meg practically run towards their men, each one jumping into their arms as if it’s been days since they’ve seen each other instead of a few hours. Longing rips through my chest and settles into my stomach, heavy and unrelenting. I try to push those pesky feelings aside, but sometimes, it’s just no use. They plant in my chest and brain and dig in deep.

“Good night,” Abby says, pulling me into a hug.

“You going out tonight?” I ask, recalling her mention of Levi’s gig earlier in the evening.

“No, I’m going to take my new painting home and hang it on the wall.”

“Wow, don’t overdo it now on a Saturday night, Abs. Too much excitement will cause wrinkles.”

“I just, I don’t really go to his gigs anymore.”

“Why?” I ask, though already knowing the answer.

She shrugs her shoulders and gives me a small smile. “Just not feeling up to it.”

I let it go. I already know she doesn’t go anymore is because it’s too painful to watch him leave with some skanky bimbo with a dress size bigger than her IQ. Levi may very well never know what he’s missing with Abby, but the romantic in me is still hopeful of him getting his shit together and realizing he loves her.

Hey, I may be cynical as hell in the love department, but I’m still a woman. And this woman wants only the best and a happily ever after for every one of her sisters.

As for me? Well, I’ve decided that my happily ever after will be in the form of cats. I’ll be the little old lady wearing hair curlers and her bathrobe around town, picking up every stray feline she can find.

And you know what? That’s okay. Not everyone is cut out for the spouse, house, and perfect postcard life. Despite what they tell you in the romance novels or in Disney movies, there isn’t someone out there for everyone. Sometimes, a person is just supposed to be alone.

That’s my destiny.

If she has her way . . .

Willa Davis is wrangling puppies when Keane Winters stalks into her pet shop with frustration in his chocolate-brown eyes and a pink bedazzled cat carrier in his hand. He needs a kitty sitter, stat. But the last thing Willa needs is to rescue a guy who doesn’t even remember her . . .

He’ll get nothing but coal in his stocking.

Saddled with his great-aunt’s Feline from Hell, Keane is desperate to leave her in someone else’s capable hands. But in spite of the fact that he’s sure he’s never seen the drop-dead-gorgeous pet shop owner before, she seems to be mad at him . . .

Unless he tempers “naughty” with a special kind of nice . . .

Willa can’t deny that Keane’s changed since high school: he’s less arrogant, for one thing—but can she trust him not to break her heart again? It’s time to throw a coin in the fountain, make a Christmas wish—and let the mistletoe do its work . . .

June 9, 2017 By

Wicked Favor AMAZONNew York Times bestselling author, Sawyer Bennett, is happy to introduce a new Wicked Horse club in Las Vegas and you’re cordially invited to attend the grand opening…

As the owner of The Wicked Horse, an elite sex club located along the Vegas Strip, Jerico Jameson never spends the night alone. Gorgeous, ripped, and totally alpha, Jerico doesn’t grant favors and will rarely give you the time of day—unless he wants you in his bed. So when the sister of his sworn enemy shows up asking for help, saying no should be easy. But when Jerico takes one look at her and sees an opportunity to help this beautiful woman while exacting revenge on her brother, he’s not about to pass that up.

Beaten and bruised, Trista Barnes is running out of options, and Jerico is her last chance to get out of the mess she’s in. She doesn’t know why Jerico despises her brother so much, but as long as he can help her, she doesn’t care. Jerico offers her safety while opening her up to a sinful world she never knew existed.

As she succumbs to Jerico’s erotic charm, Trista lets herself fall into the wicked world of guilt free pleasure with no regrets. Under his strong alpha hand, she blooms, and so does Jerico’s possessiveness. Sandra's Review

5 Stars

Wicked Favor is the first novel in the Wicked Horse Las Vegas series. It’s a spin-off series to her sexy as fuck Wicked Horse series. I read the whole series and it’s it’s sinful, intriguing, and has some beautiful moments in the mix. I was extremely excited that she was writing a spin off series. I wasn’t sure if she could make it even hotter but I was so very wrong…it’s fucking wicked hot.

Trista needs a favor. Jerico wants revenge. He could have just given Trista what she wanted and walked away but he has other plans. She will work for him for the next thirty days at Wicked Horse. Yes. It a sex club but she will not be required to have sex with any members unless she feels the need to scratch an itch. But, he damn well hopes when she does it will be bent over his desk or in the front of others while he gives her what she needs. That will make his revenge even easier to complete. Sex with a beautiful woman isn’t something new to him. He has a different woman on her knees or twisted however he wants it almost daily but she is different. He can’t wait to defile this woman. Then he will go fuck someone else. He doesn’t do repeats. He doesn’t do relationships. His life is full of one night stands. But, he knew he was fucked the moment he had one taste.

Trista hates that she has to do this. She also hates how much the club turns her on. She might look innocent but she isn’t. She is no virgin but this is different. It’s almost freeing. The members don’t have to feel guilty or shame while here. She wants to feel that too. And when she gets an offer she can’t refuse, her body instantly feels pleasure with a mix of nervousness. She knows she only has thirty days to give into her fantasies so why not take advantage of the perks of the job? And with the hottest man she has even seen. What could go wrong? It’s only sex. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Jerico and Trista’s thirty day agreement is full of heat, heart, and pushing boundaries. Yes. There is a lot of sex. Most blowing, toe-curling, unforgettable sex but there is more to it. In between those scenes there is laughter, real talk, and emotion. I loved every single minute of their story.

Overall…it’s fucking amazing. You want a book that will get you hot and bothered, make you smile, and fall in love? This is that. The writing is wonderful. The characters are strong. The story will pull you in. It was the read I needed right now. I haven’t met the characters for Wicked Wish but I am excited to get their story. Vegas, Baby!

Quotes:

“Oh, Trista, the things I want to do to you are very criminal, but there is no doubt in my mind you would enjoy them.”

“I’m going to feed on you.”
“What?” I practically squeak out, wondering if this is some weird vampire kink or something.

“You breaking boundaries is beautiful to watch.”

Kara's Review

4.5 Stars

Wicked Favor is the first book in the spin off series, Wicked Horse Las Vegas. I have read all of Sawyer Bennett’s books and they are all fantastic! There’s just something about Las Vegas that makes everything dirtier! In a good way! Bennett actually figured out how to turn up the heat! Trista needs a favor. Jerico is the answer. She needs money, but can she work at a sex club for 30 days? Jerico is sexy, gorgeous and uninhibited. Trista isn’t innocent, but she’s new to the scene and she quickly learns she likes it. A lot. Can Jerico show her what giving into your fantasies can do for you? Will Trista be able to be with Jerico without getting her heart broken? Jerico never thought he’d only want one woman again, but there’s something about Trista that’s changing him. His initial plan to use her is going to blow up in his face. Will Trista be able to forgive him? Can she ever trust again? I loved this story! Jerico is smokin’ hot! Trista is tough and willing to step out of her comfort zone. It’s not all about the sex though. They also find time to laugh and have fun. I can’t wait for the next one!

I am so freaking attracted to this man in a way I’ve never been attracted to anything. Not even chocolate. He makes me feel beautiful and desirable, and I know he will be the best sex of my life.

She pops her head in first and gives me a tentative smile. “You busy?”

“Not at all,” I tell her as I wave her in.

She disappears for a moment, and then opens the door wider. I see she’s carrying a large, plastic container that’s dome shaped and has a handle on top. My eyes only flick to it briefly before coming back to her. She’s much better to look at.

Shutting the door behind her, she walks up to my desk with a goofy grin on her face and sets the plastic container in front of me. I look down at it, and then up to her. “What’s that?”

“Something I made for you this morning,” she says, unlocking the tabs at the bottom. She lifts the dome top off, and I’m staring at a cake in front of me.

Slowly, I look back up to her. “You made me a cake?”

“Not just any cake,” she says while wagging a finger at me. “A four-layer, homemade red velvet cake with whipped mascarpone icing.”

“Jesus,” I mutter as I look at the cake, wondering what this weird squeezing sensation is in my chest. When I look back up to her, I have to ask her again, “You made that just for me?”

“Just for you,” she says with satisfaction all over her face. “You said it was your favorite, and I had some time this morning after pancakes.”

I push out of my chair and wave a hand at the cake. “You just happened to have all these ingredients, huh? You routinely use something as odd as mascarpone?”

Her grin turns mischievous as she shrugs. “Well, I may have had to go to the grocery store for a few things.”

Jesus fuck. I can’t believe she did that for me.

My mind races over the years, and I can’t remember anyone doing something so randomly nice for me. So spontaneous and with the sole intention of doing it to please me.

Picking up the cake, I round the desk and head for the side door that connects to my kitchen. “Let’s take this next door.”

I don’t miss the disgruntled expression on Trista’s face as she clearly expected me to act differently. I’m sure she was thinking I’d be a bit more effusive in my praise, and I intend to be.

Just… in my apartment.

She follows me through the door as I balance the cake on my hand. I immediately lay it down on my kitchen counter and spin around just as she’s walking through the door, taking her face in my hands and walking right into her. My mouth hits hers. She gives a huff of surprise as I turn slightly and back her into the refrigerator. Angling my head, I kiss her deeply. It’s possible because she angles hers the other way, opening her mouth to give me entrance.

Yes, it’s a deep kiss, but it’s not sexual. It’s a show of unbridled happiness that makes me feel like a kid, or perhaps it’s gratitude that Trista perhaps thinks this is something other than “just sex”.

When I pull away, Trista’s cheeks are pink and she’s slightly panting. She whispers breathlessly to me, “I should make you cake more often.”

The grin that breaks wide is my answer, followed by another swift kiss. Then I’m turning away from her and grabbing a fork out of my drawer. Without any pomp, and certainly no circumstance to wait for a plate, I punch my fork down into the top of the cake and pull a huge chunk out.

“Oh, my God.” Trista giggles as she comes to stand beside me at the counter. I angle toward her as I bring the fork to my lips, open my mouth wide, and shove the cake in. Cheeks bulging and the taste of rich cake and lightly sweet, tangy frosting coating my tongue, I groan in satisfaction. Our eyes stay locked as I chew and chew and chew, and finally swallow the heaven in my mouth. Trista’s eyes are sparkling with humor and a bit of pride.

“Good?” she asks.

I give a swipe of my tongue over my bottom lip to catch some stray frosting there. “It’s amazing. Thank you.”

She beams a brilliant smile as she sets the cake carrier on the counter and turns toward the door that leads back into my office. “You’re welcome. Now… I’ve got to get going.”

“Wait,” I say as I snag her arm and turn her back to me. “You just got here.”

“And my work is done,” she says impishly, going to her tiptoes to give me a quick kiss. “I’m meeting Mom and Corinne for lunch, and I’ve got to get going.”

Well, there goes all thought of spending my afternoon with Trista in bed rather than golfing.

But I’d never begrudge her time with Jolene and Corinne. Their unity right now is extremely important. I do pull her into me and wrap my arms around her waist after throwing the fork into the sink. Trista’s hands come to my chest as she looks up at me curiously.

“Take the night off,” I tell her softly and I have to admit, the way her eyes go warm makes me feel fucking really good. “Make it an entire day and night thing with Corinne, okay?”

“Really?” she asks with sweetest type of surprise in her eyes.

“Yeah,” I murmur as I tighten my arms around her. “I’ll keep myself occupied with the cake tonight.”

Her lips quirking, she gets a playful look in her eyes. “We could… um… FaceTime each other later.”

My eyebrows rise with interest, but I play a little stupid. “FaceTime?”

“Naked. FaceTime.” She annunciates each word slowly, and my dick perks up at this suggestion.

And for a man who has done about every dirty thing imaginable, it hits me hard that this is something new. Something I’ve never done with another woman and now, I’m glad she’s not coming so I can have something new and unique just with Trista.

“What time might you be calling me?” I ask in a husky voice.

“Be ready around eleven,” she says, pressing into me. “Clothing is optional.”

“Wrong,” I tell her with a shake of my head. “Naked is mandatory.”
