MIDNIGHT UNLEASHED: A Midnight Breed Novella by Lara Adrian
Return to New York Times and #1 international bestselling author Lara Adrian’s “addictively readable” (Chicago Tribune) Midnight Breed vampire romance series with a pulse-pounding novella of paranormal seduction and dangerous thrills, where an icy immortal beauty and a lethal Gen One Hunter must confront a powerful enemy while struggling to deny the irresistible calling of their blood.

DIRTY FILTHY FIX: A Fixed Trilogy Novella by Laurelin Paige
I like sex. Kinky sex. The kinkier the better. Every day, it’s all I think about as I serve coffee and hand out business agendas to men who have no idea I’m not the prim, proper girl they think I am. With a day job as the secretary to one of New York’s most powerful men, Hudson Pierce, I have to keep my double life quiet. As long as I do, it’s not a problem. Enter: Nathan Sinclair. Tall, dark and handsome doesn’t come close to describing how hot he is. And that’s with his clothes on.

Kara's Review

Dirty Filthy Fix is a crossover novella between the Fixed series and the Dirty series. Can you say ‘Hell Yes!” I loved every minute. Every dirty, filthy word. The writing is fantastic and Trish and Nate are fabulous. Patricia is Hudson’s secretary and we already know and love her. Nathan is business partners with Donovan (swoon). A chance meeting full of kink and sexiness leaves Trish wanting more, but that’s just not who she is. She doesn’t do relationships. Hell, she doesn’t ever take home men from the club. When Nate sees her again he knows he can’t let her go again. But he has to tread carefully, she’s a flight risk. Can he show her with his body that he’s worth the risk? Will Trish see that it’s ok to trust a man and hope for more? I loved everything about this story except that it’s too short! I want more Nate and Trish! Nate just knows Trish. He knows what she needs before she knows and he knows how to get it for her. I want Nate to fix things for me!

Like all the other men in the room, he tasted like money and secrets. Like power and sex. But he tasted like something new too.

“I miss you.”

“I’ll fix this.”

THE BED MATE: A Room Mate Novella by Kendall Ryan
I might be a typical guy, but these last few years, my love life’s been anything but. From crazy ex-girlfriends to one-night stands who are stage-five clingers, my relationships go bad faster than the milk in your fridge. The only constant has been my best friend Maggie.

Fresh off a bad breakup of her own, I invite Maggie to my guys’ skiing weekend knowing she needs an escape from reality. But then something funny starts to happen. I start noticing things about her that I never noticed before. But am I ready to screw up the best relationship I’ve ever had for a shot at something more?

Sandra's Review

The Bed Mate is a standalone novella in the Roommates series. I have read the previous books and loved them all and The Bed Mate is a perfect addition. I will make this short and sweet.

Two best friends. Two recent breakups. One New Year’s weekend in Colorado.

Sam and Maggie have been best friends since college, eight years ago. She has seen him go through women over the years. He has seen her with one man that doesn’t treat her right. And now they are both single together for the first time. Will this finally be the weekend that they see what other’s have seen all along? That they belong together.

This is a novella but it packs a punch. I love Sam and Maggie. Sam is adventurous and Maggie is cautious but as friends they even each other out. It’s perfect really. On the trip they start to notice things they didn’t before. It’s magical and having the book set around Christmas makes it even more.

Overall…it’s a wonderful additional to the series. I was fully invested in this couple. I even cried! That’s hard to do with a novella but it happened. I also laughed so it was a great combo.

Quotes:

It was the world’s most fucked catch twenty-two.

“Look, guys, I know you want this to be like some Kate Hudson rom-com so you can say you called it years ago, but she’s just my friend.”

“So, just to be clear, does that mean you think I have a chance with Justin Timberlake?”
“You’d have to admit you’re into him first.”

The Bed Mate is a standalone novella in the Roommates series. This is my favorite of the series by far! I’m a huge fan of Kendall Ryan. Her writing is fresh and fun and her characters are always great. This is the perfect friends to lovers story. Maggie and Sam have been friends for eight years. They’ve never crossed the line into more than friends. But when New Year’s Eve finds them both single and alone in a hotel room, Sam is finally going to make his move. Will Sam be able to show Maggie they are meant to be together? Will Maggie finally realize what’s been in front of her the whole time? I loved this story. It’s short, sexy and sweet! Sam and Maggie are so funny and perfect together. Overall, this is my favorite couple of the series. I laughed and teared up! Wouldn’t mind seeing more of Sam and Maggie!

“What do you want, Maggie?

“You, Same. Always you.”

LUCKY NUMBER ELEVEN by Adriana Locke
I’ve always been the person that does whatever someone tells me I can’t. Can’t graduate with a four-point-oh? Check. Can’t win a modeling contract without trying? Did it. Check. Can’t make it in the pro football league? Triple check with an MVP Award on top. When my best friend told me to stay away from his little sister, Layla, it didn’t sound like a challenge. Then again, I’d never seen her before. He obviously wasn’t thinking about who he was talking to if he believed I could ignore her. I obviously wasn’t thinking of him at all when I fell in love with her either.

Sandra's Review

Lucky Number Eleven is a complete standalone novel by one badass author, Adriana Locke. I have read and loved all of her books. I just know that I will be addicted to the story and the characters instantly and once again, I was. If adulting didn’t get in the way this weekend, I would of read it in one sitting.

Branch Best was warned to stay away from his best friend Finn’s sister. Layla knew she should have stayed away from him. But the moment she walked out of the car at the cabin, they felt something. It turned into a weekend of something. A weekend of shameless flirting, sexy secrets, and candied apples. It was a good time but they both knew that was all they could give. She wasn’t ready for someone like him. Not again. Maybe not ever. And he knew she was too good for him and his life. They knew the score. He didn’t do commitments. Hell, sometimes he didn’t even do names. He was straight forward about it. But he knew there was something different about Layla. She wasn’t a groupie. She wasn’t a one-off. She was smart, sexy, strong, sweet and beautiful in every sense of the word. He didn’t want to ruin that. Ruin her. But what if it was too late?

Their one weekend changes everything. Finn finds out about Branch’s betrayal. He is livid that Branch could easily go behind his back. After that weekend, both Branch and Layla can’t stop thinking about each other but know it’s for the best to be apart even though they developed feelings. Branch felt at ease with her. Felt like himself. Layla loved the way Branch made he feel beautiful and wanted. Together they laughed, relaxed, and felt right but wrong at the same time. But, when they see each other again, it’s not pretty. It’s confusing. Can they get back to how they felt before in that cabin?

Sorry. I can’t really say much. I will say that I ❤️ Branch even when I didn’t like him. I love him for many reasons but the big one is that he doesn’t lie even if it’s hurts. He is also hilarious, sexy, and oh so swoon worthy. I also love Layla. She is seriously kick ass. She is everything Branch sees and more. Smart, strong, sexy, and beautiful. Together, their banter is on point. Their chemistry is off the charts. And their story is messy complicated and beautiful at the same time. Oh…I can’t forget about Finn and Poppy. They are some of my favorite secondary characters! Omg. I want more!! Of all of them.

Overall…I didn’t want it to end! The laughs, heat, and heart was everything!

P.S I want coffee cake! Now.

Quotes:

The reporter, whose name I didn’t catch, clutches her notes to her chest. “Maybe we can all three do something together one day.”
“That’s called a threesome and I’m in,” Finn deadpans.
Her mouth drops open. “I meant an interview!”

“I want your blood right now and your cock later. Keep your heart.”
“I think I just fell in love.”
She rolls her eyes and counts us down and we begin the most epic game of Skee Ball Linton has ever seen.

Anyway, enough of the bromance chronicles.

Kara's Review

I’m a huge fan of Adriana Locke and I’ve read all her books. I’ve loved them all for different reasons, but the thing that ties them altogether is the fantastic writing and the real, addicting characters. I know that I will be hooked from the first page and keep wanting more and more until the very end. Adriana can do something very few authors can. She makes you love her secondary characters as much as the main ones. She writes family. Friendships. She knows people and she knows what her fans want. We want sexy football players. Bad ass heroines. Best friends to envy and siblings to wish for. And Adriana delivers time and time again. Lucky Number Eleven is a football romance. One of my favorite kinds. Branch is a wide receiver and he’s famous, rich and a playboy. He doesn’t pretend to be someone he isn’t. He’s honest, direct and tells it like it is. While he’s away for the weekend with his best friend, Finn. He meets Finn’s sister, Layla. He’s instantly attracted to her, but knows he needs to keep his hands to himself or his best friend will kill him. After spending time with Layla, Branch feels more at home than he has in years. She brings out the man he used to be. The one he always thought he’d be. She’s genuine, sweet and hilarious and he just can’t stay away from her. It’s just a weekend fling, but it left him wanting more. More of her smiles. More of her laughter. Just more of her. But that’s not realistic and they both know it. Layla can’t help but want Branch. I mean, he’s sexy, funny, talented and handsome. He’s not exactly how she pictured the sexy playboy. He’s sweeter. Nicer and more fun. When they run into each other weeks later, it’s awkward. They have to talk, but can they be friends? What happens when obstacles block their way? I loved this story! I loved Branch and Layla’s chemistry and their banter. It was top notch! I loved that she didn’t fall all over herself because of who he is. She liked the man, not the player. Branch is a dick, but I still loved him. He was honest and it broke my heart that he didn’t have more faith in himself. Layla is seriously badass! There wasn’t anything about her that I didn’t like! And, please with Finn and Poppy! They are fantastic! I need more of them asafp! Poppy is the greatest best friend. I wanted to be her and have her in my life. Finn is the loving brother who would do anything for his sister. He just gets it. Overall, this is the perfect story filled with sexiness, fun, friendship, family and football! Go Number Eleven!!

P.S. One of my favorite scenes is when Branch and Layla play catch!

P.P.S. I love Poppy’s explanation of the men and the positions they play on the field. Priceless!

I guess I expected . . . more,” I tease, lifting my shoulders just a touch for effect.

“You want more? I have so much more you’d be screaming for less.”

“I’m about to get you nine inches closer if you don’t tell me no,” I growl.

“Let me think about it,” she says, tapping her pursed lips.

“Will it make you happy?”

“Yeah, but I don’t need it.”

“My job isn’t to decide what you need. It’s to make you happy.”

And…Poppy!!

“That face isn’t my favorite on you.”

“Um, I only have one face.”

“That would be incorrect,”

Second,” I insist, shooting her a look, “weren’t you just telling me yesterday to stay away from guys like him?”

“I said nothing about wide receivers. That’s a whole different game.”

HEARTBREAKER: Filthy Dirty Love Book 1 by Stacey Kennedy

That smoking hot one-night stand with a former rock star?

Turns out he’s my son’s new music teacher. Oops.

But I didn’t know that the night I met Campbell. All I knew was he played my body the same way he played a guitar — like he owned it.

My libido is still high-fiving me after being self-served for too many years, and we’re both ready for another night or two of fun, especially since we don’t just have chemistry in bed — we connect over everything.

That is, until I learn he’s the man who’ll be coming to my house twice a week to teach my son — the best music lessons money can buy.

Time to turn down the volume on our shenanigans. Only that’s easier said than done.

***

I can rock a guitar solo in front of thousands, I can write chart-topping tunes, and I can absolutely stop thinking about my student’s mother naked.

After all, I’m a single parent too, and I know what it’s like to put your kid first. That’s what I do every damn day.

Trouble is, now that I’ve had Mackenzie, it’s hard — and I do mean hard — to stop wanting her. Harder too when I get to know her, and learn she’s an awesome mom, a great friend, and, oh yeah, she happens to get along perfectly with my daughter.

All we have to do is set some rules. No dating, no nookie when the kids are around, and no one gets hurt.

It’s all working out beautifully. Until we start breaking the rules, one by one.

Making music with her in the bedroom is easy. But will we be more than just a real good time when the music stops?

Kara's Review

Once Upon A Real Good Time is Lauren Blakely’s newest rom com and it’s hilarious and DIRTY! Lauren knows how to write anything and this romantic comedy is going to get you in all the feels! Campbell: Sexy, musician, awesome dad, filthy mouth, fantastic hair. Mackenzie: Smart as a whip, gorgeous, funny, dirty and a great mom. Campbell and Mackenzie have an instant connection while watching each other and flirting. When their one night stand seems like it’s leading to more, fate steps in and laughs at them. Campbell is Mackenzie’s son’s new music teacher. *screeching brakes* They agree to step back from each other for Kyle’s sake, but that is harder than they thought. They become friends, talk, laugh together and exchange steamy texts. But it’s not enough. They want each other too much. Can they agree to keep it light and stick to the rules? What happens when the rules go out the window? I loved this story! It’s one of my favorite Lauren books (I know I say that a lot but it’s true!!). Campbell got my attention from the first hair flip and strum of his guitar and it never swayed. He’s extra swoon worthy when he’s with his daughter. I love Mackenzie’s brain and her super mom powers. This is an epic romantic comedy because it’s funny and filthy, but what makes it stand out above all others is Campbell and Mackenzie are single parents. It takes it from the usual to top notch! Overall, I laughed, swooned, got hot and bothered, shed a few tears and loved every second of it. I can’t wait for Miller and Ally’s story!

His brown hair flops over his eyes. He flicks it off his forehead with a quick snap then runs his fingers down the strings of the guitar. Those fingers fly. I bet they’d fly other places too.

He’s hotter than I remembered, and if he were an ice cream cone, I’d order a triple scoop and lick him up.

With sinewy muscles, inked arms, delicious stubble, and sexy-as-fuck crinkles around his eyes, he’s handsome as hell now.

And all man.

One hundred percent rough, sexy, dirty man.

Campbell: Say something dirty to me now.

Mackenzie: Take off your pants.

Campbell: Boom. Instant arousal. You’re a rock star.

Sandra's Review

Once Upon a Real Good Time is the first book in Lauren’s new rom-com series, Heartbreakers. I have read all of Lauren’s words and let me tell you…this woman knows how to make me swoon and get all hot and bothered with her dirty-mouth men. Campbell has definitely made it to the top of my Blakely Men list with his mouth. Damn.

Campbell and Mackenzie share one passion-filled night. They connected on more than one level. They enjoyed being together in between the sheets as well as out of them. They got each other. And that is why, this was not going to be a one-night stand. That was until she walks into her son’s violin lesson and meets his new teacher. She knows for a fact he has mad skills with his hands since they were on her playing her like an instrument just a few nights ago. Fate has stepped in and kicked her ass.
Campbell gets it. Mackenzie wants what’s best for her son which means they have to keep their hands off each other. The hard part is that, that makes him like her even more. He is after-all a single father to a teen daughter that he would do anything for including not dating someone he wants to see again. And again. That doesn’t mean he can’t have dirty thoughts though and sometimes those dirty thoughts are spoken out loud. Oops. Rules. They needs rules.
Rules are made to be twisted, and broken. There is always a loop hole, right?
Omfg! I loved this book!! Campbell just has that perfect blend of filth, sweetness, humor, and heart. I fell for him. Hard and fast. And him as a dad? Swoon. I loved his relationship with Samantha. Mackenzie is kickass. One of my favorite Blakely women! She is strong, funny, sweet, and knows her trivia. And she loves her son so much. Together, Campbell and Mackenzie made me smile, melt, and laugh. And their kids made me wants to listen to music and bake treats.
Overall…it was an epic treat! I love love and when you add in laughs, dirty talk, sweet treats, and trivia, it makes it even better. I am soooo excited about the next book, Once Upon a Sure Thing! Gimme, gimme.
Quotes:
“It’s good to know my songs can transcend thoughts of nudity.”
“It’s proof of your musical talent.”
“Oh my God! You never stop.”
“I know. It’s a sickness. The only thing that makes me stop is when your lips are on my cock.”
“I’m not helpless,” I tell him, but I kind of am right now, considering Ponytail’s disdain for me.
“Let me believe you are. There is something rather sexy about you standing in a music store needing my assistance.”

Excerpt

Campbell

She nibbles on the corner of her lips. “My friend Roxy thinks I should—”

“—let yourself have a good time for one more night?”

“How did you know?”

“She seemed like a good wingwoman.” I reach for a strand of her hair, running my finger across the soft locks, cataloging her reaction. “Want to know what I’m thinking?”

She nods.

I flash her a wicked grin. “I’m wondering if you want to be kissed by someone who’s been wanting to kiss you all night long.”

A flash of hesitation crosses her face, then she raises her eyes as if she’s thinking.

“I do,” she whispers, and the few seconds of reticence make her answer even sweeter.

I thread a hand through her hair. I’m going to take my time working up to a kiss, to make sure she wants it desperately. “I’ve been thinking about running my hands through this hair.”

“You have nice fingers…”

“Were you watching my hands when I was on stage?”

Her voice is soft and feathery, a quiet little confession. “Yes. I like the way you play.”

“What did you like about it?” I curl my hand tighter around her head. I swear, heat is radiating off her body, and it’s so damn enticing. “Did it make you think of anything?”

She nibbles on the corner of her lips. “Made me thing about how you might play…me.”

A groan works its way up my chest. She is an alluring mix of daring lioness and clumsy puppy. I yank her flush to me, bringing her mouth mere inches away from mine. “I’d like to play your body like a guitar. I’d like to make you sing, make you cry out in pleasure.” I run both hands through her soft hair, tugging her head back.

She gasps, and that’s my cue to lick a path up her neck, where I nibble on her jaw till she’s squirming against me. “Did you think about how I might kiss you when you watched me play?”

A sexy little sigh seems to escape her lips, followed by a yes.

“I noticed you the other week. At your booth, doing your quiz. Couldn’t stop looking at you. You were so sexy and adorable, and now you’re so damn close to me all I want is to turn you on.”

She parts her lips, and there’s no more need to tell her what I want to do. It’s time to show her.

Blog Tour, 5 Heart Reviews & Excerpt – Timid, Devney Perry

September 7, 2018 By

Willa Doon has always been shy. Her quiet demeanor was something she’s always embraced. That is, until Jackson Page moves to town. The one man she desperately wants to take notice struggles to remember her name.

Year after year, Willa stands by, watching as the bartender slash playboy drowns his demons in beer and sex. Then one night, he shows up at her door, suddenly aware that the girl he’s seen around Lark Cove is now a beautiful woman.

Except what he doesn’t remember is that this visit isn’t his first. They spent a night together once before. A night he’s forgotten, thanks to a bottle of tequila.

A night that crushed a timid girl’s heart, and set a broken man on the path to heal them both.

Sandra's Review

Timid is the second book in the Lark Cove series. It can be read as standalone but I do recommend reading Tattered since it’s amazing story as well. And it kind of overlaps with Jackson and Willa’s story.
Willa first laid eyes on Lark Cove’s newest arrival, nine years ago. Since that day, at only seventeen she had a major crush on Jackson Page. Year after year she watched him around town. In the last few years she has seen him bartending at the bar, flirting and going home night after night with some tourist. He never noticed her. Shoot, he didn’t even call her by the correct name. Then one night, he made her seventeen year old self’s dream come true. Then the next day, he forgot all about it. She was crushed and now determined to get over her ridiculous crush. Except days later, he actually sees her. Is it too little too late?
Awe! I loved this story. Willa is wonderful. She is beautiful inside and out. Shy. Protective. Strong. She picks her battles and doesn’t back down. She also makes up the best words. I love how she doesn’t see Jackson as just a sexy bartender. She sees so much more. Jackson is real. He has a past that makes him not trust in many people. He is also protective of the ones he cares about. He is sweet. Together, they are full of fun, passion, fight, and more.
Overall…This series is one of my favorites of the year! I love this Lark Cove group of friends and their families.
P.S. Make sure to sign up for the short story at the end.
Quotes:
I couldn’t like a boy now that I’d seen this man.
I liked that I had the ability to unsettle her a bit. It meant that somewhere in there, her crush on me wasn’t completely gone.
“Seventeen-year-old Willa is doing a victory dance right now.”

Timid is the second book in the Lark Cove series by the talented Devney Perry. It can be read as a standalone, since I didn’t read Tattered, but I’m mad at myself for that! I didn’t feel like I was lost, but I really wanted to know more about Thea and Logan’s story. But, Timid is Willa and Jackson’s story. Willa met Jackson when she was a teenager. Her crush never lessened and over the years she secretly watched and waited for him. One night, he runs into her and they share something incredibly special to her. But then he never mentions it again. He forgot the moment that meant so much to her. When he finally sees her and realizes he needs to have her, it’s too late. Well, almost too late. Willa is going to make Jackson work for it. She’s not going to just cave without making him prove he’s interested. She gives up a good fight, but she can’t hold back anymore. Jackson more than proves he wants her and not just physically. There’s something special about Willa. She calms him. She sees him. But he doesn’t want serious. He’s not made for commitment. Can Willa be the woman to show Jackson he’s worth loving? Will Jackson realize he needs Willa to survive before it’s too late? I loved this story! Willa is one tough cookie! She didn’t take crap from Jackson and she stood up for herself! I was so proud of her. Jackson has a past he just couldn’t shake, so I understood why he thought the way he did. He just needs a lot of hugs! Overall, I laughed, cried, swooned and cheered! I can’t wait for more in the series!

His chin had a flat stop in the center. It wasn’t a dimple, not really even a dent, just a feature that  made his face even manlier. His appeal was annoying.

Air kisses. Sweet kisses. Soft kisses. Hard kisses. Wet kisses. Tonight, I’d learned it all. And I couldn’t wait to see what he’d teach me next.

I scooched my chair in toward the table, trying to put a little more space between Jackson and me, but he wasn’t having it.

He put both hands on the back of my chair, then leaned in close. “Hi, Willa.”

“Uh . . . hi.” I shivered at the heat from his chest on my bare shoulders.

Why was he standing so close? My parents were right there. Our table was one of four tall, square ones in the center of the room and there was plenty of space between tables.

Plenty. P-L-E-N-T-Y.

But was Jackson using any of that plentiful space?

No sirree. He stayed pressed against the back of my chair, like there were only three inches of usable space behind him, not three feet.

My skin prickled he was so close. I tried to nudge my chair forward again but it barely moved. Sweat beaded on my temples and I pulled in a shaking breath.

Jackson’s woodsy, rich scent was everywhere. It overpowered the stale beer, pizza and peanuts, and I inhaled a deep breath, unable to resist.

Sexy Hot Forest. That’s what they’d call his cologne.

Kara's Review

Flirting with Forever is Kendall Ryan’s new friends to lovers romance. It’s a nice, slow burn that kept me wanting and panting. I’m a huge fan of Kendall and her writing. Her words always make me laugh, swoon and smile. I love a good friends to romance story and this is one of my favorites. There’s just something about sexy Cam. He’s smooth, but not a player. He’s smart, but not cocky. He’s sweet, but it’s not fake. And he’s hot as hell and a pediatrician , so there’s that. Natalie is beautiful, but she loves to eat. She’s from money, but that’s not who she is. Camden, Natalie and Jack have been friends since high school. Both boys wanted the new girl so they made a pact that neither one of them gets her. It’s now years later and they are all still best friends. Until one day when Cam sees Nat in a different light. He’s jealous of her date. He can’t stop thinking about her. That is not good. He can’t ruin the friendship they all have. But he can’t stop staring at her and having inappropriate thoughts. And then they aren’t just thoughts and they aren’t inappropriate at all! They are real and so is the way they touch each other more than friends. What happens when they can’t deny their feelings anymore? Will their friendship be over or does it turn into a forever love? I loved this story! Cam, Nat and Jack are hilarious together. I loved the friendship and the bond they have. Cam and Natalie have such fun together as friends. They flirt without knowing it and they just fit. I loved Cam’s inner dialogue. He had me laughing and swooning at the same time. Kendall has this way of making these men so real that you think they exist! Cam is one of my favorite heroes of hers! I just loved his…everything! Natalie is funny, and silly, but serious and smart. Overall, I laughed, teared up, majorly swooned, got the tingles and couldn’t put it down.

“You look like James Bond. I look like a fucking penguin.” Jack complains.

“A handsome lady-killer penguin.” I say.

“Just because you guys have been friends forever doesn’t mean you’re off the hook for wooing her.”

“Yes to wooing. I would like some of the woo.”

Sandra's Review

Flirting with Forever is Kendall Ryan’s latest friends-to-lovers romance. I just know when I open one of her books that it’s going to be a fun and sexy ride! I have never been disappointed. This is Camden and Natalie’s story…
Camden, Jack, and Natalie have been the three musketeers for the last thirteen years. The best of friends during the good and bad times. Bad break-ups. Latest hook-ups. Family drama. College antics. And now they are almost thirty and single. Of course over the years people wondered if Natalie had ever been with either of her two best friends. They are sexy, successful, sweet, protective, and would do anything for her. She always thought that was ridiculous until one night changed everything.
Cam always thought Natalie was beautiful inside and out but lately he has been looking at her differently. He sees her as his sexy as fuck best friend. One that has been off-limits since the day he saw her in the cafeteria. He doesn’t know what to do. He isn’t sure if its imagination that Natalie has been extra touchy lately or if she is going through the same confusion. He wants her but what would that do to their friendship? To his friendship with Jack? To her friendship with Jack? Is it worth the risk?
This story is both a slow burn and a fast read. I don’t know how Kendall managed that but she did. I loved it. Their friendship. The heat. The doughnuts.
Overall…it was a fast read that had me wanting more.
P.S. You will get a little taste of Kendall’s next book…Dear Jane!
Quotes:
“You know me too well.”
“Your love affair with pastries isn’t exactly a well-kept secret.”
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. Please tell me she doesn’t expect me to comfort her while she’s in the bathtub.
“You going to survive there, sport?” I ask, my voice chipper.
Jack frowns and flips me the middle finger. “Fucking morning people.”

I look up at Cam and meet his eyes, brimming with secrets. I need answers, and I need them now.

No more secrets, Cam.

“What’s going on?”

The man in my arms doesn’t answer with his words. Instead, he takes hold of the edge of my towel and pulls it from my body. I gasp at the sensation of our skin pressing intimately together. I brace myself against his chiseled arms, digging my fingers into his biceps for purchase.

He isn’t done. He lifts his hands, one to my hip, one to my cheek. His thumb draws a small circle on my exposed hip bone. With the side of his knuckle, he traces the outline of my lower lip. I stay very, very still so he won’t notice the slight shudder racing down my spine.

“I can’t tell you,” he says so softly that it breaks my heart.

“Yes, you can.” I barely recognize my own voice. Cam’s eyes, dark and hurting, are locked on my lips. I want to ease that pain.

And I think I know how.

I lean in closer, pulling myself up to his level with my hands on his chest. Our breaths mingle and everything is warm, the air between us aflame.

“You’re killing me.” These are the words that fall from Cam’s lips before they meet mine.

God.

My lips are locked against his in the softest of kisses. I catch his lower lip with my own, pressing every ounce of my feelings into him. Every thank you for being there for me. Every you’re perfect for being exactly what I need.

Can he feel how much I care for him?

He’s still for a whole Mississippi second—a second too long for me to bear.

Oh God. What have I done?

But the moment I pull away, Cam leans in. His hands are on my face, holding my lips against his. He tilts my head, digs his fingers into my hair, and opens his mouth to mine.

“Natalie . . .”

The sound of my name slipping so lustfully from the back of his throat sends a jolt all the way down. All the way down.

I pull myself even higher on my toes, clinging to him with my arms around his neck. He returns the favor, wrapping his arms around my waist and pulling me tight against him. Our mouths are magnetic, unable to separate, unwilling to stop.

My God. I’m kissing Cam.

I’m kissing my best friend.

I’m kissing him and I can’t stop.

I dart my tongue between his lips, caressing the underside of his upper lip. He growls, maddened by my bold move. His fingers blaze fiery trails down my neck and shoulders. His hands explore me, memorizing the slope of my back and the curve of my hips. Each touch is so soft, yet so electric.

Soon it’s all frantic kisses and eager moans that I’m pretty sure are coming from me. I press into his shoulders, leaving handprints on his chest. My fingers draw lines down his abdomen, then finally trace along the bulge beneath his towel.

Cam jerks back, his eyes full of questions.

But there’s no more time for questions. We’ve wasted far too much of it.

Picture this – I’m ready to win back the love of my life, and I’m going big this time. We’re talking boom box, sing her name in the rain, let the whole damn neighborhood know I’m good and ready this time around. After all, if you’re going to grand gesture the ever-loving hell out of a second chance, you need to pull out all the stops.

There’s only one little problem.

My college girlfriend isn’t the one who shows up when I play my “I’ll do anything to win you back” tune.

The woman who flings open the second-floor window tells me my ex doesn’t live here anymore. But she’ll help me win her back. Anything for romance, anything for a guy so willing to go big for love. And that’s what I want at first. Until I get to know my new “romance coach” and discover she’s funny, clever, and keeps me on my toes. And boy, do I ever need that.

Now I don’t want to win anyone else’s heart. I want the woman who’s been helping me all along.

Trouble is – she thinks I’m in love with someone else, and when we take off on a road trip, everything I think I know about women is about to be unzipped and turned inside out.

Sandra's Review

My Kinda Forever is the sixth book in the sexy, funny, and emotional Summer Sisters series by the wonderful, Lacey Black. I have a special place in my heart for these six sisters and their family. Their bond is beautiful. Their humor is inappropriate at the best times. Their love is everything. I have been waiting for Meghan’s story since her heart was broken and her life forever changed. And let me tell you, it was so fucking worth the wait!
Nick witnessed the love that Meghan and Josh shared for years. It was magical. Her smile was bright. It was real. Not like the fake smile she has had over the last two years since her fiancé was killed. He has been her friend and boss for the last six years and he wants that smile back. The real one. He wants to see her live again. She deserves it. He has always had a soft spot for his dental hygienist but lately he has noticed her in a different light. And it’s anything but innocent but he knows she isn’t ready to date. That was until he saw her on one…
Meghan wants to be ready. She really does. She knows Josh wouldn’t want her to sit back and watch her life go by her but how do you move forward after losing the man she was supposed to have a future with. They talked about their dreams. Dreams that are forever gone. She has watched her five sisters fall in love and she is happy for them but it still hurts. She wants that. To feel alive. To love and be loved. Again. She didn’t know if she was completely ready but something has been feeling different between her and Nick. She has caught him watching her. And she finds that she likes it. It’s not uncomfortable. It’s exhilarating. Could he be the one to help her move on?
I love Nick and Meghan! They have been friends for years so the trust is there. He has been there for her over the years. He has never pushed her and he never would. He just wants to see her happy again even if it’s not with him. He misses her smiles. And if he is the man to make her smile then he will do whatever it takes to make her do it over and over again. But, first she needs to be ready. He understands that it could take time. He doesn’t want to replace Josh, he just wants a piece of her heart if that’s what fate has in store for them.
Ok, I can write a novella just about this story so I will wrap it up. If you have been following this family then you know how much pain Meghan has gone through. She is a strong woman with the best emotional support with her family but she still feels something is missing. I loved this book because of the journey she goes through to find peace. In her heart. In her mind. And in her soul.
Overall…It’s a beautiful, sexy, hilarious, and emotional read. It was so fun catching up with her family, as always. Her grandparents get more and more inappropriate as the series goes and I for one fucking love it. I am going to miss this family but I am sure we will see them again.
Quotes:
“Karate chopping shit? Haven’t I taught you anything?”
“This is so hot. I wish I had popcorn. Lexi is going to be so upset she missed it.”
“Of course it’s okay. Do you want my help?”
“No, I think I can handle it.”
Again, he smirks. “I’m sure you will, but be careful. You’ve been friend-zoned so long, you’ll probably have to forward all of your mail there.”
“I think you’re incredibly beautiful. And smart. And funny. And when you smile, I think the sun shines even brighter.”

My Kinda Forever is the last book in the Summer Sister series (insert tears here). Lacey saved the best for last. Not just the story, but the man. Nick was everything I wanted him to be and more. So much more. We knew it was going to be a special man to win Meghan’s heart. He needs to be patient, fun, loving, understanding, thoughtful and sexy. Nick is all of those things. Plus, he’s been her friend for a long time and they already have a connection. Our hearts broke for Meghan. She has been so lost and sad and couldn’t seem to move forward. It’s now two years later and she’s finally ready to take a few baby steps. She needs to stop with the fake smiles. She needs to live again. Nick is her boss and her friend. He gets glimpses of the old Meghan, but she’s still so lost. He’s vowed to make her laugh and smile again. He desperately needs to see the sparkle come back into her eyes. He’s always found her attractive, but she was taken. It’s been a long time since she lost Josh and now all of a sudden, Nick is seeing Meghan in a different light. He wants to touch her. Kiss her. Show her how to live again. Meghan is breathing better every day. She’s seeing new things and laughing more. And she’s wildly attracted to Nick. Her friend and boss. Has he always been this sexy? Whoa, look at those shoulders. She’s itching to touch him and seriously needs to know how he kisses. Can Meghan take the leap into Nick’s arms? Will Nick be able to heal her heart and show her how to love again? I loved this story. So much!! Nick is so perfect. He’s sweet and kind and sexy and smart. He’s strong and handsome and loyal and protective. Meghan didn’t stand a chance! Meghan grieved the way she needed to and when she was ready to let go of her past, it was beautiful to watch. I could feel the change in her. Nick showed her the way, but she took the steps on her own. Lacey always brings the feels with the outrageous laughter, flowing tears, swoony heroes and strong women. I’m sad that this series if over but I’m confident we’ll see them again somewhere!

His shoulders…my word, his shoulders. The definition and muscles are like a work of art. Nick turns back to face me. “Is this okay? It’s hot.”

Yep. Definitely hot.

Exclusive Excerpt:

Suddenly, being alone with Nick in the dojo has me nervous. I’m shifting my weight from foot to foot and not completely sure what to do with my hands. “Hey,” he finally says, offering me a small smile.

“Hi.”

“You ready?”

“As I’ll ever be,” I grumble, not really sure if I can do this.

Or if I should.

No, I definitely should. After what happened last week, a woman should know a few basic self-defense moves.

Nick heads over to the bench and unties his belt, dropping it on the bench beside my bag. Then, he strips off his white jacket.

My jaw hits the floor.

Unlike our time on the boat Monday, where he wasn’t wearing a shirt, this time he’s wearing a white tank top underneath, and if it’s possible, I think it makes him hotter. It hugs his very hard, very muscular upper body in a way that I’ve only read about in books. (Or saw one time when Linkin stripped for my sister, Lexi.) His shoulders…my word, his shoulders. The definition and muscles are like a work of art. Nick turns back to face me. “Is this okay? It’s hot.”

Yep. Definitely hot.

“Umm, sure. Whatever. Fine.” I know I try to sound casual, but really, it just comes out like a bumbling, blubbering teenager.

“Good. Now come here,” he instructs, and the tone goes straight to the apex of my legs (which are practically shaking, by the way). Why does it sound dirty?

“I’m going to show you just a few moves to help you escape an assailant. The first is an open hand strike. You’re going to use the heel of your hand to strike some of your assailant’s most sensitive areas,” he teaches, demonstrating the move. “Aim for the eyes, nose, mouth, or neck.” He stands in front of me and holds my hand, positioning it and showing me the correct ways to execute. “Here,” he adds, moving my hand to his face.

I can feel his breath on the palm of my hand as I slowly shadow his movements, practicing without actually striking him.

“Good. Now, if he comes at you from behind, your elbow is a valuable weapon. It’s hard, and when thrust into his face, neck, or stomach, you could definitely buy some precious time to get away.” He moves behind me and I immediately thrust upward with my elbow. He easily dodges the blow, as mortification tinges my cheeks.

“Oh my God, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to try to hit you, it just…was a reflex,” I insist.

“You’re fine,” he chuckles. “It’s good for you to actually practice the moves. Well, except this next one. No need to practice the knee to the groin. Just know it’s one of the most effective ways to disarm an assailant. If done right, your perp will be lying on the ground, crying for his mommy while you run away,” Nick teases, holding his hand over his…area.

Of course, my eyes drop down.

Why wouldn’t they?

He was just referring to someone’s…package.

“Yeah, no need to practice that,” I quickly reply, again a blush burning my neck and cheeks.

Is it hot in here?

“Let’s go over a few ways to block a punch or slap,” he says, showing me a few techniques using my arms and hands, before finally demonstrating what to do if the assailant gets me down on the ground.

Yep, I’ve officially lost my mind. I’m practically rolling around on the mat with Nick, who is trying to teach me moves that might one day save my life. And all I can think about is the way his arms feel when they wrap around me or the way his package brushes up against my thigh, not once, but five times.

Five.

Yes, I counted.

“Okay, that’s the basics. I want to do a few of them in a real-life situation. Stand over there, and I’ll come at you. I want you to take me down.”

“Wait, what? I can’t take you down. You’re…big.”

And, cue the blush…

Nick chuckles. “I’ll be okay, honey. Promise.” Then he winks at me, and my entire body seems to catch fire. “Ready?”

No. I’m definitely not ready for this.

Kara's Review

Mission: Anaconda is the third novella in the Division Eight series by the talented A.D. Starrling. This is a fast paced, action packed story full of suspense, humor and a little romance. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and couldn’t put it down. The relationship between Miles and Gaby is full of sexual tension and I loved the way they tried to hide it. I love this team of characters and I can’t wait for the next in the series.

CHAPTER ONE

Gaby Hawkins narrowed her eyes at the woman across the table from her.

“I did not shit my pants when Brody Thompson asked me to be his prom date.”

“Sure, whatever you say, Sis,” Clare Hawkins drawled. “Still doesn’t explain that brown stain on your dress when you got back home at two a.m.”

Zoe Fairchild grinned and took a swig of her beer as she watched the caustic exchange. Gaby sighed.

It was Friday night and her younger sister was in town for the weekend. Gaby had picked her up from the airport two hours ago before heading over to her regular watering hole in downtown D.C., where she’d arranged to meet Zoe and Vivian Thorpe.

It wasn’t that Gaby didn’t love having her family over on the rare occasions they left Texas, but being the middle of a brood of five meant she was generally the target of all their ribbing. It didn’t help that she was the only redhead in the family, a throwback to her distant Irish ancestry. When her sister had come along, Gaby had thought that finally having another girl in the family would mean she’d have an ally against her three brothers, but Clare had proven to be the worst of the bunch.

Hell knows what they’d do if they knew I was a member of a covert black ops team. I’d never hear the end of it.

She shuddered at the thought and eyeballed her sister sharply. “Like I said then and a thousand times since, I tripped in those ridiculous high heels Mom lent me and fell in a cowpat. Who the hell stages a prom night in the middle of a freaking field anyway?”

“Texas does,” Clare replied tartly.

Vivian slid into the seat next to Clare. “What’d I miss?”

“Clare was recounting how Gaby went to prom with the hottest guy in school and accidentally soiled herself,” Zoe said, leaning back in her seat next to Gaby.

Vivian leveled a sympathetic look at Gaby. “Incontinence is not something you should be ashamed of.”

“My Grandma has coupons for those special pads if you need some,” Zoe added.

“Ha-ha, very funny,” Gaby grumbled, shoving a middle finger up at the two women.

Even though Vivian and Zoe were technically her superiors in ARMOR, the Division Eight unit she’d left the U.S. Marines for over a year ago, Gaby knew them well enough to know that what happened between them socially would never impact on their working relationship. ARMOR was a tight unit and they were the only women in it. Not that the guys in their team treated them any differently because of their gender.

Gaby arched an eyebrow at her sister. “And you, you better zip it or I’m gonna tell Henley about all the shit you got up to when you were in college.”

Clare patted her pregnancy bump. “You can tell him all you want, sweetheart. That man worships the ground I walk on, especially now that I am with child.”

Gaby swallowed a mouthful of her beer, leaned across the table, and flashed an evil smile at her sibling. “Oh yeah? Even if I tell him about the time you had that threesome with those football quarterbacks?”

Clare’s smile slipped from her face. She scowled at Gaby.

Zoe sucked air between her teeth as she stared at the younger Hawkins. “Oh. Now, we gotta have the deets.”

“Yup,” Vivian murmured, her hazel eyes sparkling with humor. “I hear threesomes can be awesome.”

Gaby blinked at ARMOR’s XO. “Hey, you’re not—“

She stopped and glanced at her sister.

A faint smile curved Vivian’s lips as she read Gaby’s silent question. “What? Thinking of cheating on Alex? Nope.” Her smile widened into a full-blown grin. “He’s more than enough man for me.”

Zoe groaned. “Please. I have enough trouble as it is not imagining the two of you naked when we’re in the same room.”

“Yup,” Gaby concurred. “I swear Abe looks like he’s watching some kind of AV whenever you two are together.”

Vivian and Alex Slade, the head of ARMOR, were unofficially going out. Though liaisons between black ops team members were generally frowned upon by the army and the administration, Vivian and Alex were discreet enough not to let it affect their working relationship, something the rest of ARMOR were grateful for. No one could deny that Alex and Vivian were brilliant team leaders, nor could anyone refute that the two of them truly belonged together.

“Okay, so I’ve decided on the next challenge.” Clare leaned toward Gaby until they were face to face. “I dare you to kiss the next person who walks through that door.”

Gaby observed the wicked light in her sister’s eyes and swallowed a curse. They’d been playing truth or dare for the last hour and it was Gaby’s turn. In Clare’s version of the game, only a dare would do for Gaby.

“Person?” Vivian raised her eyebrows. “As in man or woman?”

Clare nodded, unrepentant. “Yup. Person.”

Gaby looked around the packed room. Though the Friday night crowd was out in full force across the rest of D.C., 7th South was mostly filled with military types and cops, it being a popular hangout for that particular circle of professionals. They were sitting in a diner-style booth to the left of the main bar, with the front door behind her and Zoe’s backs.

Gaby studied the men in the place with a critical eye. None of them made her pulse jump or her belly twist with even a hint of desire. In fact, she couldn’t recall the last time that had happened. She masked a grimace, downed her beer, and wiped her mouth with the back of her hand.

“Alright,” Gaby said, gazing brazenly at her sister. “Challenge accepted.”

“Oh,” Zoe said. “Well, this just got more interesting.”

The door swung open behind them a moment later. Gaby tensed. Opposite her, the strangest expression dawned on Vivian’s face.

Clare’s eyes rounded. “Whoa. Now that’s what I call a hottie.” She glanced at Gaby with a hint of envy. “You lucky, lucky woman.”

Zoe twisted in her seat. She stiffened. “Uh-oh.”

Gaby turned, puzzled by her friends’ reactions. Her stomach dropped when she saw the man who’d just walked through the front door of 7th South.

“Hey, is he someone you know?” Clare said in a puzzled tone.

“Kinda,” Vivian murmured.

Gaby swallowed hard. Kinda is an understatement.

Standing in the doorway of the bar talking to the man who’d just walked in behind him was her ARMOR team mate and nemesis, Miles Dawson. A Harvard graduate in Literature and Philosophy and former Navy SEAL, he’d been handpicked by Alex and Alastair Caldwell, the current Director of U.S. National Intelligence, to join Division Eight when the section was created last year. Not only was he one of the best snipers in the country, he had an impressive military resume from his time in the SEALs.

None of that mattered much to Gaby, since the man had a habit of irritating the ever living hell out of her whenever he opened his mouth. Known as “Pretty Boy” since his Harvard days, Miles Dawson was a preppy, condescending purist who got a kick out of highlighting her imperfections. Or so it seemed to her anyway.

Gaby eyed the tall man with the steel blue eyes and light brown hair with Miles. They’d just taken a booth to the right of the door. Steel Blue went to the bar to order their drinks. Gaby’s gaze roamed the stranger’s handsome face and muscular body.

Now, why couldn’t that guy have walked in first?

“Umm,” Clare muttered, “should I retract the dare?”

“Hell no!” Zoe exclaimed.

“Na-huh,” Vivian chimed in.

Gaby glowered at her friends. “You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?”

They grinned at her.

“Oh, now you’ve got me all curious,” Clare said. She leveled a mischievous smile at Gaby and made a shooing motion with her hand. “Watcha waiting for? Go claim your prize. And you better make it a hot one.”

The words “hot” and “Miles Dawson” in the same sentence made Gaby’s temples throb with the start of a faint headache.

Of all the bars in this city, why’d that bastard have to walk into this one?

She snatched Zoe’s beer off her and gulped down half of it.

“Hey!” Zoe protested.

“Shut your mouth, Fairchild,” Gaby snapped. She clenched her jaw and slid out of the booth.

“Good luck,” Vivian said with a chuckle.

Gaby showed her friends and her sister the middle finger over her shoulder as she headed over to Miles’s table. His eyes widened slightly when he clocked her coming through the crowd.

She stopped next to his table and gritted her teeth.

“First off, I apologize for what’s about to go down,” she said without preamble. “Believe me when I say I wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t for a dare.”

Miles frowned faintly. “What are you talking about?” He looked past Gaby and raised an eyebrow. “Is that Vivian and Zoe?”

Miles’s companion joined them, two bottles of beer in hand. Gaby’s hackles rose when she saw the mildly irritated look Miles flashed at her before he looked at the man.

“Jason, this is one of my…associates, Gaby Hawkins,” Miles murmured. “This is my friend, Jason Scott.”

Scott nodded curiously at Gaby as he slipped into his seat.

Gaby bit her tongue. Scott had evidently not missed the subtle accentuation Miles had placed on the word “associates.” Asshole might as well have said “PITA!”

Scott’s gaze switched from Gaby to Miles as they stared at one another with narrowed eyes. “Would you like to join us, Gaby?”

Miles looked at his friend as if he’d lost his mind.

Gaby scowled. That’s it!

“Don’t worry, Jason,” she said briskly. “This will only take a moment.”

With that, she climbed onto Miles’s lap, grabbed his face with her hands, and planted her lips on his mouth.

Miles froze, his hands rising instinctively to her waist. Gaby registered the warmth of his fingers through her T-shirt with a jolt of surprise. She looked down into his shocked stare and blinked.

There were flecks of gray in his eyes. She’d never noticed them before.

Well, this is the closest I’ve ever been to the damn man.

French him!” Gaby heard her sister shout. “You don’t win the dare unless you French him, you hear me, Gaby Hawkins?!”

Gaby could have sworn she heard Zoe and Vivian’s choked laughter from across the room. She frowned.

Focus on the mission, Gabriella.

“What the hell do you think you’re—?” Miles mumbled against her mouth.

Gaby took the opportunity to slide her tongue between his lips.

Miles inhaled sharply. Now he was looking at her as if she’d lost her mind. Something shifted in his eyes when her tongue met his a heartbeat later.

Something that made her freeze in his arms.

What the—?

Miles’s breath shuddered out of him, a soft sigh that caused a shiver to race down Gaby’s spine as it danced across her tongue and lips. His fingers clenched on her flesh a second before he took over the kiss.

The world faded around her.

He tasted of mint and coffee and something else. Something that caused goosebumps to break out across her skin and the hairs to rise at the back of her neck.

Her mind screamed Danger! Her body ignored it and melted against the man kissing her with an effortless mastery that was fast reducing her ability to think to a puddle of goo.

It was a while before Gaby realized Miles had stopped kissing her. She blinked her eyes open, blood roaring in her ears and fire blazing in her veins.

Anger sharpened the blue gaze beneath her. “I take it that will satisfy your bet?”

Gaby swallowed and nodded wordlessly as she slowly climbed off his lap. She rose on shaky legs, dipped her chin at a bemused Scott, and twisted on her heels. Hoping to hell Miles hadn’t noticed the way that kiss had affected her, she headed over to the table where Clare, Zoe, and Vivian sat staring at her.

“So, how was it?” Clare asked eagerly as Gaby sagged into her seat.

Gaby avoided Zoe and Vivian’s curious looks and glanced at her sister. “So-so,” she lied.

Clare choked. “So-so?! My God, my panties practically melted watching the two of you and you’re telling me it was so-so? What is wrong with you? Are you a nun?!”

“I’m a good actress,” Gaby muttered.

Another lie.

Because her pulse had jumped. And her belly had twisted with so much desire she could barely form a coherent thought.

That the hot feelings stirring inside her were directed at a man who was usually the bane of her life placed the fear of God into Gaby. Because there was no way in hell she could accept that she hadn’t wanted Miles Dawson to stop kissing her.

Kara's Review

The Charm of You is Jennifer Probst’s newest fun, sexy, second chance romance. Jennifer is one of my go-to-authors and I love her writing more and more with each book. She’s also a funny, great person in real life! This second chance story has all my favorite things. Fantastic writing, fun, likable characters, sexiness, amazing movie references, fabulous clothes and beer. Presley and Nolan have a history. One she hasn’t been able to forget and it’s the reason for her insecurities. She thought it was all behind her until Nolan comes back to town. When all of her memories come back and begin to crush her, she and her friends develop a plan. Make him fall for her then dump him! Her friends are hilarious and fiercely loyal. They help get her dolled up and she dazzles Nolan to the point where all he thinks about is the sexy Presley. He doesn’t recognize her and that just fuels her fire. But the more time they spend together, the more Presley falls for him again? Can Presley let the past got and trust a future with Nolan? What happens when Nolan finds out about their shared past? I loved this story! It’s funny, sexy and sweet. They had a connection all those years ago, and the chemistry is still there. Nolan does fall hard and fast for her, but it didn’t seem unrealistic to me. He recognizes something about her and she just calls to him. I loved their flirty banter and it was fantastic when Presley let her guard down. She thinks she was being a sex pot and pretending, but Nolan always saw the real Presley. Overall, I laughed out loud, cheered, got hot and bothered and read it in one day! I’m hoping we see more from these women! I loved the girl power!

“You’re new.”

“You’re hot.”

“I know.”

“You’re the type of woman I want to linger with. Sink into. Dig deep. One I definitely would not want to let got, especially from my bed.

“Presley, I’m very good at sex. Trust me when I say I know how to satisfy a woman.”

“I believe you.”

“No,  you don’t. I’ll have to prove it to you.”

“What about your sister?”

“Hell no, she gets allergic the moment she’s around a pot or pan.”

“I’d like to meet her. She sounds like my kind of person.”

“The two of you could rule the world. I’ll keep you apart, thank you very much.”

EXCERPT:

She’d known all along he’d lied about his identity in order to secure this appointment. Admiration flowed through him, along with a strange punch in his gut that urged him closer. The spicy scent of orange blossoms and clove filled the air, making him want to breathe deeper. “How did you know?” he asked, stopping on the opposite side of the monstrous espresso structure that held two oversized monitors, dozens of papers, and a toppling pile of books. “I thought I covered my tracks nicely.”

She gave a half shrug and reached for her Starbucks cup, seemingly already bored with his conversation. “You’re predictable.”

Male pride stung, he still couldn’t help laughing. Why did he have to be attracted to a woman who gave him shit? Would be so much easier to find a more complacent partner for an affair. Unfortunately, Nolan knew it was way too late for him. He was officially smitten. “Then I’ll have to up my game.”

Another shrug. “Maybe you have no game left.” She sipped her coffee and studied him, those stunning eyes shielding her secrets. He ached to know every detail about this woman, but knew he’d have his work cut out for him.

“Come to lunch with me and find out.”

She tilted her head. Tapped her index finger again those bee stung lips as if considering. “Why?”

Her question delighted him. “Because the moment you walked into my brewery I haven’t been able to get you off my mind.”

“How sweet.” She fluttered her lashes. “Too bad I forgot you the moment I walked out of your brewery.”

He dropped into the chair opposite the massive desk and hooked his foot over his knee. He made no attempt to hide his naked admiration for those amazing legs or the brazen way she challenged him to go and try. Her foot flexed, lifting the spiked heel, and those sleek muscles clenched under golden skin. His dick practically wept and got strangled in his jeans. “Ouch. What if I confessed you were the first woman in a long while to intrigue me?”

“Yeah? What intrigues you so much?”

He warmed up to the topic. “Besides your rapier wit, and superior intelligence? Your eyes. When I look into your eyes, I seem to lose track of time. I don’t want to be anywhere else.”

Was it possible she actually looked bored with his compliment? She gave a long-suffering sigh, regarding him like he was mentally challenged. “Please tell me you have better things in your arsenal. And you better upgrade from that Peter Gabriel song because it’s been overdone. I spend every Saturday with a personal trainer who makes me throw up for fun, so I really don’t want to hear about my pretty eyes or wit. Go ahead and bring it. Tell me I have a slamming body and get creative, dude, or I’m throwing you out and you won’t get another chance to bang me.”

God, she was magnificent.
