Synopsis

Let the battle of the sexes begin…

He’s hot, wild, unpredictable, untamable, and her best friend’s older brother.

Colton Brody is everything a good girl like Phoebe Page should avoid. But since her sister Kelly’s death, Phoebe isn’t as worried about being good as she used to be. She wants to live big with no regrets, the way Kelly did, and she intends to start with having a top secret, super steamy, no-strings-attached holiday fling with the man she’s crushed on her entire life.

What could go wrong?

Except everything?

Wounded in action and discharged without a chance to prove himself, all Colton cares about is getting back into the Marine Corps where he belongs. He will not get sucked into small town drama, will not take that promotion at the firehouse, and certainly won’t fall in love with his little sister’s best friend. He’s down for friends-with-benefits, nothing more, and plans to leave town long before quirky, bossy, cute-as-a-button Phoebe can get under his skin.

He is in control.

At least until a certain sexy brunette turns his world upside down.

It isn’t long before Colton finds himself buying flowers, talking feelings, and wishing Phoebe wanted more than another night of hot, no-holds-barred sex. Because when he’s with Phoebe even hot and dirty feels like making love.

Now Colton will have to decide what’s worth fighting for—the dreams a plane crash stole from him or the dream he’s holding in his arms.

WARNING: Good Girl vs. Bad Boy contains a mix of heart-warming romance, quirky characters, laugh out loud moments, and blisteringly hot banging. If you don’t like hot sex, laughter, mentions of humping unicorns, turkey bowling, off-beat town rituals, or graphic descriptions of artisanal pancakes, steer clear.

Synopsis

Eight months ago, John Lawson lost his wife and best friend in a tragic accident on his family’s ranch. In the time since, he’s devoted himself to two things—taking care of his two newly motherless sons and proving that Lily’s accident was no accident. Now, he finally has hard evidence that his wife was murdered and he won’t rest until he has the killer’s blood on his hands. He doesn’t have time for anything but vengeance, especially not a crazy ghost hunter wanting to poke around the old spring on his family’s ranch.

Persephone Styles—Percy to her friends—learned about ghosts the hard way, when she was orphaned by a violent crime at the age of seven. Ever since, she’s seen spirits and been obsessed with studying souls beyond the grave. She’s in Lonesome Point to document the town’s spectral activity, but finds herself powerfully drawn to widower John Lawson and empathizing with his grieving children. For the first time in years, Percy is as riveted by the living as she’s always been by the dead and longs to be a part of John’s life.

But when one night of passion becomes something more, Percy realizes John is as haunted as she is and that the man she’s coming to love is walking a dangerous road that may end with him becoming a murderer’s next victim.

Kara's Review

The Lonesome Point, TX series is one of my favorites. Jessie Evans knows how to write a sexy cowboy! Her writing gets better with every book and Ropes and Revenge has the most heart of the series, and the most suspense. John lost his wife, Lily, seven months ago in a tragic accident. Well, John doesn’t think it was an accident and he’s been trying to prove it. Persephone is a psychic and she comes to Lonesome Point, a well-known haunted place, to help restless spirits cross over to the other side. When John meets her he’s mad that she’s on his land and he’s rude to her. He’s also attracted to her and that scares him. John gets a chance to apologize to Percy, and something sparks between them. She vows to help him find out who killed Lily. They form a fast friendship and Percy realizes that she wants him. John is dealing with the loss of his wife and finding her killer and now with the guilt of having feelings for Percy. Things heat up between John and Percy while they search for evidence of the killer. John wants to keep her safe and she instantly becomes one of the family. She’s different than any woman he’s ever known. Different than his late wife and he doesn’t know what to do with his feelings. Will John let himself find love again before it’s too late? Will Percy be able to find the killer and help John move forward? Percy is smart and funny and John is sexy and serious. They complement each other perfectly! John learns to let laughter into his life again and Percy realizes that she’s not her past. This is the ultimate second chance at love story. It’s possible to find love twice in a lifetime and even if it’s scary, you have to make the jump!! This was the perfect way to close out the series. There are some surprises in store for other residents of Lonesome Point and I can’t wait to find out what they are!

She tasted like mercy and forgetfulness, and for the first time in forever, John found himself completely lost in a moment.

“Because I don’t want anyone to hear the hungry sounds you make when we’re kissing except me.”

Percy’s breath rushed out. “I make sounds?”

“Sexy little whimpers and moans,” John continued in that rough whisper that threatened to undo her.

“Never,” John said. “I like your naughty side. And your sweet side. And the side that bosses me around when I’m being an short-sighted asshole.”

Sandra's Review

I have read the whole Lonesome Point Texas Series and l have loved each and every one of them. They all have a unique story behind the love story. You can read them as standalone including Ropes & Revenge but I do recommend you read Chaps & Chance first to get to know Lily and the background of her death.
John lost his wife seven months ago and he still doesn’t believe it was an accident. He is convinced she was murdered but can not find any solid proof. He is consumed to find out the truth and to also be there for his two young sons. John’s family is worried about him since he is not acting himself but also understand he has to grieve for the love of his life. They just wish he would live and have hope that happiness will come around again…He didn’t believe it until he laid eyes of Persephone.
Persephone “Percy” is a ghost whisperer and travels the world to help ghosts move on to the other side of the veil. She connects with them and brings them peace before they leave this side. She is now in Lonesome Point to spend some time on Lawson Ranch and the Old Ghost Town. She thought she would only be there for one week but when she meets John Lawson things change. She has a feeling that there is a reason why she is there and it is to help John and maybe even herself.
John and Percy want to find out who murdered Lily and now that Percy has found proof, it gets the mystery going in the right direction. But John doesn’t want Percy to be the next victim if they get too close to the truth. He cares about her too much. He didn’t think he would ever care for someone after losing Lily but then again he didn’t think he would met someone like Percy. She is different. She is there to help a family that she didn’t even know when she got to town and won’t quit until the mystery is solved and ghosts are at peace.
I loved John and Percy’s story! I love a good mystery and throw in love and I am done for. Percy is kick ass and love that she is different in the best ways. She also wants to live with the living and not just ghosts and her past. And then there is John, he is sexy, sweet and cares so much for his family. He is so confused. About Lily and Percy and what to do next.
So many questions in this one! Will they find the killer before he strikes again? Will John push Percy away or will he not be able to let her go? Has Percy found her place in the world after traveling and being on her own for so long?
Overall…thIs novel is full of mystery, love and family. It was great to see the rest of the gang in town and catching up with them. There is also a surprise at the end and I am super excited about it.
Quotes:
Life can be cruel, but death isn’t an end. And love is never a mistake.
Maybe she wasn’t simply meant to help John get his life back on track. Maybe he was going to teach her a thing or two, as well.
“Give me something real to remember. Make me feel alive. Even if it’s only for a night.”

Excerpt

“I’m not good with people,” Persephone said, holding his gaze for a long beat before she continued. “I don’t know what to say to help them feel better when they’re hurting, but sometimes I can help them by helping the people they loved. I know you don’t believe in ghosts, but I do and I care about them and I want to help them find peace. That’s all. I believe everyone deserves peace, don’t you?”

“I believe people don’t get what they deserve,” John said, his voice rough. “Now leave. Please.”

She had to leave before the earnest look on her beautiful face or the empathy shining in her eyes broke him and he started spilling his guts to a total stranger. This woman didn’t deserve to know that his wife was dead or that he still mourned her like it had happened yesterday, not seven months ago. She didn’t deserve to know that a weak, pathetic part of him almost wanted to believe in ghosts, just so he might have some hope of communicating with Lily, of being able to tell her how much he loved her one more time.

But that’s what people like this woman counted on.

“John, please,” Persephone whispered in her feather soft voice. “Let me help if I can.”

His stomach went sour. Persephone probably already knew that Lily had died last spring. She would have done her research before coming here to prey on his grief the way charlatans like her had preyed on the suffering for centuries. If he gave her another ten minutes, he had little doubt she would be offering to help him contact Lily on the other side.

For a fee, of course. A fee he was sure dozens of sad fools had paid her through the years, but he wasn’t going to be one of them.

“Get off my land,” he repeated in a firmer voice. “I have nothing to say to you and I don’t want, or need, your kind of help.”

Her thin shoulders slumped and a defeated expression tightened her delicate features. “All right. Well, I… I guess I should know better by now,” she mumbled as she turned to walk toward the four-wheeler.

“Know better than to try to scam people?”

She slid one leg over the four-wheeler before turning to face him, giving him a moment to register how out of place this elegant person looked on the dusty red machine before she spoke. “I should know better than to reach out to people like you, but I can’t help myself. I keep hoping…” She shook her head wistfully. “But I suppose I’ll grow out of that, sooner or later.”

She reached for the ignition. “Good luck, John. I hope things get better for you soon.”

John crossed his arms and watched her go, determined to keep his expression impassive. He didn’t want her to know how shitty the seemingly genuine concern in her voice made him feel. He didn’t want to think about being part of the reason someone stopped hoping to forge connections with people different than themselves.

Lily had been totally different than the girls he’d dated before her. Until he’d met his freckle-faced, sass-talking, no-bullshit wife, he’d dated women who took far better care of their outsides than their insides. He’d been a sucker for a pretty face and a nice rack and hadn’t looked too far beneath the surface.

And then he’d met Lily and learned what a difference a heart made. She had taught him how to love, pushed him out of his emotional comfort zone, and refused to settle for less than everything he had to give. He’d fought her at first—determined to hold her at the same distance he’d held other girls—but with a mixture of stubbornness, humor, and kisses that took his breath away, she’d worn him down until he was putty in her hands.

On the day they were married, he’d been certain he would never love anyone more than he loved her that afternoon. But their love had grown deeper and stronger with every passing year. By the time they celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary, John had felt like she was a part of him, so deeply ingrained in his heart and dear to his soul nothing could tear them apart.

But death had ripped her away and taken the best parts of him along with her.

“Jesus, Lily.” John bowed his head, his breath rushing out with a defeated sound. “See what an asshole I am without you?”

He waited, a pathetic part of him hoping he might hear her voice in his head again, the way he had Halloween night. But there was nothing but the sound of some critter digging in the ground on the far side of the stream, the gentle burble of water over stones from farther up the mountain, and Darcy snuffling as she sniffed the ground where Persephone Styles had stood a few moments before.

Synopsis

A sexy second chance romance from NYT and USA Today Bestselling author Jessie Evans The home run neither of them expected… Pike Sherman is a legend in Lonesome Point, a hometown boy who made it to the big leagues. Literally. Professional baseball acquired one hell of a pitching arm and its latest celebrity bad boy when the gifted Pike was drafted seven years ago. Pike’s broken heart came along for the ride, too, but he kept that private, and since leaving Lonesome Point has kept his distance from his hometown. But when Pike’s little sister, Mia, begs him to be the Dude of Honor at her wedding, he can’t refuse. He takes advantage of a break in the season and returns home to find himself thrown together with the one woman he never wanted to see again. Tulsi Hearst is on the verge of losing her Equine Therapy business, and letting down all the kids she’s come to love. After a mix-up with the grant board, she needs to concentrate on finding more funding, not dealing with Pike Sherman, the boy she sacrificed so much for, and the one person she’s ever lied to. And what a lie it is… Pike would hate her if he found out. She knows she should stay far away from the brooding man her summer love has become, but Tulsi can’t resist a slow dance with the only boy who ever made her blood rush. After just a few days back in Lonesome Point, Pike can’t imagine life without the girl he left behind, but when Tulsi’s secret is revealed, his heart is broken all over again. The only thing worse than losing Tulsi, is losing six years with the daughter he didn’t know he had.

Kara's Review

I love the Lonesome Point Texas series and loved Leather and Lace and Saddles and Sin, but I do believe that Diamonds and Dust is my favorite so far. Jessie just keeps writing better and better books. She is extremely talented and has the ability to use the written word to evoke such deep emotions that it’s almost painful sometimes. Tulsi has been in love with her best friend’s brother, Pike, since she was a little girl. At 18, an opportunity presents itself in the form of Pike driving by her on the side of the road. She just can’t keep her feelings to herself anymore, so she confesses to still having a crush on him and dares him to make a decision and kiss her or leave. He admits to having the same feelings for her and they spend a few months in each other’s arms. Eventually it ends in heartbreak for them both and they don’t see or hear from each other for 7 years. Once they come face to face again, there is anger, hurt and heat. Pike is still sexy and gorgeous and Tulsi can’t stop thinking about him. Pike decides he still loves her and he wants her and he’ll do whatever it takes to get her back. Can he convince her that their love is stronger than the past? Will she be able to tell him her secrets and believe that he will still love her? I laughed and cried and finished it in only a few hours! Diamonds and Dust is one of my favorite second chance romance stories and I’m a sucker for second chance love!

“And maybe I’m not as sweet as everybody thinks I am.”
“Is that right?” he asked.
“That’s right. So as far as I’m concerned, you have two options.”
He nodded slowly, holding her gaze with an intensity that made her shiver, “I’m listening.”
“Either get out of my way and let me forget you, or shut up and kiss me.”

“I want to taste you so bad it’s killing me. I want to see if you still taste like springtime.” he said.

“And I think the country songs are wrong. You don’t fall in love; you choose it.”

“I’m not going to eat supper with my family without underpants on, Pike Sherman. I have a wild streak, not a perverted one.

And one for Clementine who’s 6.
“I promise to be good everyone will think I’m an angel come down from heaven.” Clem said.
“And it’s church camp , so no taking the name of the Lord in vain, and no ‘flipping’,” Tulsi added with a hard look. “Everyone will know what you’re meaning to say and they will be shocked.”

Sandra's Review

I have read the all of the novels in the Lonesome Point, TX Series and have loved them but this one has become my favorite! I sensed it from the start…

Tulsi and Mia have been friends forever and for as long as Tulsi can remember she has had a crush on her best friend Mia’s brother Pike. He is four years older and seemed to only treat her like a sister until he couldn’t any more. When she was finally right in front telling him what she thought about him, then it finally hit him. That was the feeling he has also had all these years. Too bad they broke each other’s hearts….

Seven years later and they are trying to avoid one another. Pike is in town to be with his family and to do a meet and greet for his hometown fans, he is a pitcher in the Major leagues. He doesn’t come home, he stays away from it but Mia needed him. Tulsi is a single mom to a feisty little girl and has her own issues to deal with and doesn’t want to add another heartbreak from the only man she ever loved.

They hate each other. They love each other. They don’t know how to feel. The passion is still there but the past is hard to move on from. Nobody even knows about their secret spring fling. They never forgot how it was to be together but they also can’t forget the heartbreak. Pike wants to move on, he wants to start over but Tulsi is fighting back because of a secret she is holding on to. Can they leave their past in the past? Will the secret ruin them?

Like I said it was my favorite in the series. Pike is hot and cold and that just make him even sexier. He is the perfect amount of alpha with the mix of sweetness. He knows what he wants and doesn’t give up. Tulsi is pretty awesome even though I was mad at her but she is independent, feisty, and a fun mom. And Clementine, her daughter is just precious and a little rock star in my book. I laughed, I cried and wanted to slap someone so a great mix of emotions.

Quotes:

At that moment, she understood that Pike Sherman hated her. He hated her with a passion as hot and intense s the passion they’d shared when hey we’re kids.

It was true. Pike was the only person he had ever known her, inside and out, even the parts she was sometimes fraud to admit was there, and that’s why he couldn’t bear to be around him.

“It’s always the quiet ones, you know,” she said, continuing to giggle. “We’re lol wild sex perverts, with dark, forbidden desires.”

They say revenge is a dish best served cold…

DANNY

It’s been a year since I learned the truth about the scandal at Sterling University. Since then I have become a cold bastard with a block of ice and hate where my heart used to be. But when I board the plane to Costa Rica I look like a laid back surfer without a care in the world. I haven’t decided whether to kill Todd, Jeremy, J.D., and Scott while they’re living it up on their senior trip, or just make them wish they were dead, but I know one thing—whatever I decide, no one is going to suspect I’m the one responsible.

I have planned the perfect revenge. At least I think I have. Then I see her…

Even sweet cowboys have a sinful side…

Robert Lawson—Bubba to his friends—is six feet, four inches of tall, dark, and handsome cowboy, with a panty-melting voice and a face made to launch a country music career. But when his family’s ranch hands go down with the flu, Robert cancels his high-profile auditions in Austin, and returns home to Lonesome Point to help out. Kara's Review

I love Jessie Evans and her books. She’s one of the best, cleanest, witty writers I’ve ever read. She makes you feel like you are there sharing their lives with them. The characters and towns come alive in her books. I love the Lonesome Point Series. Bubba intrigued me in the first book and I’m so glad that he has his own! Bubba is a sweet, sexy cowboy who can sing. What’s better than that? Nothing! Add in his dirty mouth and penchant for all things kink and you have a winner! His manager, Marisol is a bit of a conundrum with her sexy looks and icy walls. One minute she’s melting looking at Bubba and the next she’s running off. She’s the only one who calls him Robert and he loves that about her. He wants to conquer her. To own her. But she’s skittish. He has a way with words that made me swoon; sharp, sweet and dirty. The perfect combination. Will Marisol be able to let go of her past and open up to Bubba? Can Bubba get past her secrets and convince her that he’s the one? Do not miss this one!!

There was something about him, something more than the handsome features, the drool-worthy body, or the smoke and velvet voice smoother than twenty-year-old-scotch.

But Marisol knew he tasted even better than he smelled, and was the kind of man who wasn’t afraid to spank a girl during a first kiss.

“Yes, there’s a chance things might end badly, but I know from experience that fear doesn’t keep you safe. All fear does is keep you lonely, and shout so loud you can’t hear your heart when it whispers.”

“And I bet Jesus had a great sense of humor. They just left the funny stuff out of the Bible to save space.”

I’m not going anywhere. I’m yours. And you’re mine. No returns, no exchanges.”

Sandra's Review

I love Jessie Evans’ Books and she gets them out like crazy! I met Robert “Bubba” in Leather And Lace as Mia’s best friend and he was there for her and was a great man so happy that we get to find out more about him.

Robert aka Bubba has been busy with getting his country music out there with small gigs and auditions hoping to get a break. He has a Manager that knows his worth and is behind him all the way and her name is Marisol. Ever since they met Robert felt that she was the perfect fit for his career and also in other aspects in his life….there was a spark that he could not deny. He had no idea what she felt towards him other than her talent and even when she did say anything about his looks, he wasn’t sure if it was for business or how she really felt. When one night he wanted to test his theory, he got his answer but she pulled away, she needed to keep this professional for both of them.

Marisol doesn’t want Robert to know that she is turned on in so many ways when he is around her. She needs to keep it professional and show his talent to the world. She also doesn’t want to get too close….she has secrets that she feels can make him run and she needs him just as much as he needs her. When Robert has to go back home to help his family, she decides to go with him so they can work while he is out there but she also knows being so close to him for a week can break her down. They also have to keep their working relationship away from the family….

Robert may be a sweet ole boy but he has the perfect amount of alpha in him when he needs to it come out. He wants Marisol and not just her body but also her mind and soul. He sees that she is hurt and wants to be that friend to get her to open up. He wants her and when she starts to let her walls down…..he wants her even more. Marisol wants the fairytale but she is not sure if Robert will still want her if her secret comes out, she doesn’t believe she is worthy of his love. But she does know that she feels safe around him and that means so much to her.

There are so many questions to be answered but here are a few. Will Robert make it as a country singer? Can they move past the issues that haunt Marisol? Will his family accept his choices?

I loved Robert and Marisol! They make one amazing team. I also enjoyed seeing what the rest of the gang were up to and excited about the next book. I can’t wait to meet Mia’s brother, Pike.

Quotes:

“I will flirt with club managers, and be your arm candy t events until you find a cute little thing to take home to your mama, but that’s here it ends. As long as you are my client, it’s business between us.”

“I don’t give a shit about good ideas. I want to work with you, and I want to be your friend, but I also want to make you come.”

He couldn’t help worrying that maybe love wasn’t always enough, and that some secrets had the power to destroy the best things in the world, no matter how determined a man might be to stop them.

THIS WICKED RUSH (Wild Rush Book 1)

Synopsis

“You know what I like, Caitlin. You know I want you to beg for it.”

Gabe

I’ve never been the kind of person to give up on something I want. Now, I refuse to take no for an answer. I want this girl. I want to help her, and sleep with her, and steal things with her, and make her laugh the way she did right that night in her friend’s car. We’re going to have a summer neither of us will ever forget, and by the time we go our separate ways, she’ll have enough money to go to college, and I will have had her…every way I want her.

Caitlin

I’m starting to forget why it’s a bad idea to get in any deeper with a boy who is a walking, talking contradiction. A boy who has a taste for breaking the law, a wicked way with words, and a confident touch that leaves no doubt he’s way more experienced than I am. I’ve spent my life putting aside my own needs and cleaning up after other people’s mistakes. Now, I want to make a mistake of my own.

I know I’m playing with fire, but for Gabe I’m willing to beg to be burned.

THIS WICKED RUSH is an edgy, sexy, boundary-pushing read intended for readers over the age of seventeen. The book features graphic love scenes, violence, strong language, and thieves in love. Read at your own risk.

A steamy, high-octane love story that will have you wondering how far you’d go if you stopped playing by the rules. And may even make you want to step over the lines.” –New York Times Bestselling Author, Lauren Blakely

TWRKiss

Kara's Review

I’ve read almost all of Jessie’s books and I really love them. This book is very different from her sweet, southern HEA’s that we’ve grown to love. It is sexier, darker and hotter with an extremely different plot twist. I love this “new” Jessie! The writing is absolutely outstanding! This is a unique story of Caitlin and Gabe. Their story starts in the prequel, One Wild Night, where they agree to do something crazy together and they can’t deny the attraction that grows between them. Caitlin is taking care of her brothers and niece and trying to earn enough money to keep their house and feed her family. Gabe can’t forget about the one night they spent together so he has a proposition for her that she can’t say no to. They agree to spend the summer together and their lust quickly turns into something deeper. I was sucked into the story from the beginning and couldn’t put it down. Gabe is so effing sexy and dangerous with just enough of a dirty mouth! Caitlin is beautiful and caring and can’t help but fall for him. They have major obstacles and there is a cliffhanger. I laughed and I cried and I can’t wait to see how their story plays out.

I should walk away from Caitlin Cooney and stay the hell out of her life.
But I won’t.
I’ve never been good at doing what I should. I don’t resist Temptation, I throw him a big, loud party and invite Trouble to D.J.

This is a memory I want to keep for the rest of my life. This is one of the pictures I want to flash before my eyes when I’m fighting for my final breath.

And then I see him, Gorgeous Gabe, leaning against the weathered bricks of Harry’s Diner, his jagged brown hair hanging so delicious in wrinkled black jeans and a whisper-thin gray tee shirt it should be illegal. The moment our eyes meet, his full lips draw into a grin that promises the best kind of trouble, and something breaks inside me.

Sandra's Review

Wow! I just finished reading it and yeah, just wow. Before I start my review, I will say that Gabe made my list of Book Boyfriends 2014 the minute I met him in One Wild Night.

After one wild night together Gabe and Caitlin could not stop thinking about each other even after months of being apart. Caitlin is still hard at work and taking on way more responsibilities then a twenty year should have to while Gabe is well, being Gabe….

So when Gabe decides enough is enough and that he has to see the girl that he can’t stop thinking about he goes to her. They make the decision to spend the Summer together to let loose before they have to go back to reality. A summer full of passion, laughs and also danger. They feel alive when they are together and don’t want the summer to end but nothing last forever….

I am in love with these characters, all of them even the little ones. Gabe is so straight forward and Caitlin is strong. And they fit perfectly together in the bedroom, it’s the perfect blend of sexy and sweet. And the book is like puzzle that needs to be pieced together and I love puzzles! It’s edgy, sexy and dangerous and I can’t wait for more.

Quotes:

I’ve never been good at doing what I should. I don’t resist Temptation, I throw him a big, loud party and invite a Trouble to DJ. ~ Gabe

She’s so beautiful, like something out of my dreams, the dreams that are always about her. Always. Ever since the night I first kissed her addictive lips.

He’s brought danger into my world, be he’s also brought joy and passion and life.

Excerpt

Gabe

Since I dropped out of school in March, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what really matters in life, and a giant house is nowhere on the list. Money is well and good, but after a certain point it’s an overload of icing that destroys your ability to appreciate the cake. Darby Hill is a monster built by slaves stolen from their country, and maintained by my father’s and grandfather’s less than ethical law practice. It should have been donated to the state years ago, but my parents don’t see anything wrong with clinging to privilege paid for with blood and pain.

I have more than the average rich boy’s disdain for abundance, but I should know better than to assume Caitlin, or anyone else in her position, can walk away from a paying job without making sure she has a safety net in place.

“I’m sorry about yesterday.” I pull around the circular drive, parking in my usual spot by the azalea bushes. “I didn’t like the way that man was looking at you, but I should have thought about the trouble I might cause before I spoke.”

Caitlin’s gaze drops to the console between us before she glances back up, a smile teasing the edges of her mouth. “To be honest, I’m glad you said something. Noel’s been putting his hand up my skirt for years. Now I’ll be able to wear a dress on Fridays without having to watch my back every time I bend over to pick up a plate.”

“Let me know if he needs a reminder to behave.” The thought of the old fuck’s hands anywhere on Caitlin makes me wish it was acceptable to punch senior citizens. “Until I can convince you it’s safe to quit, I’m happy to help.”

“I’m not—” Caitlin breaks off with a sigh and a shake of her head.

“What?” I ask, in no hurry to get out of the car, though I know my mother is probably waiting by the front door. I’m surprised she isn’t out on the veranda, watching the driveway—she was that thrilled when I told her I was bringing my girlfriend to dinner.

Caitlin’s brow furrows. “Why do you care?”

“You’re my partner in crime,” I say with a shrug, refusing to think too much about the question, or how much I’m coming to care.

“That was one night.”

“There will be more.”

“No, there won’t,” she says. “I’m not going to do anything else illegal, Gabe. If I get caught, it’s not just my life I’d ruin. I can’t put the kids at risk. There’s nobody left to pick up the pieces if I go to jail.”

“What if I could promise that you won’t get caught?” I reach out, capturing a lock of her silky soft hair and twining it around my finger.

“You can’t promise something like that,” she says, but she doesn’t pull away. She leans in and her lips part, and I know she feels the pull I feel.

It’s the lure of the forbidden, the rush that comes from breaking the rules—not because of any desire to be truly bad, but because the rules are wrong. The rules are lies that deserve to be exposed, shattered, ripped apart and sewn back together in a shape that does the world some good. We could do that, Caitlin and I…do the world a little good, while getting high on breaking the law.

“And you shouldn’t make promises you can’t keep,” she adds, a tremble in her voice.

“I don’t.” Before she can say another word, I silence her with a kiss.

I don’t intend it to be a passionate kiss—we have to go inside soon—but the moment my lips touch Caitlin’s the world catches fire all over again. Our second kiss is even hotter than our first. Within seconds I’m drunk on her smell, her taste, deliciously jarred by the electricity that leaps between us like we were made to complete a circuit. My fingers bury themselves in her hair and my tongue slips inside her mouth and every nerve ending in my body ignites.

Wild Rush Series

One Wild Night (Wild Rush prequel)

Synopsis

(Can be read before or after THIS WICKED RUSH, Wild Rush Book 1.)

One night can change your life…

“Come on, Caitlin, let me help you get what you need.”

The way he says it, it’s about so much more than money. It’s about the way he makes my skin hot and my lips tingle, it’s about the way he makes my heart race and banishes the exhaustion that’s been my constant companion since I quit school to be a full-time surrogate parent. It’s about the flicker of hope he lights inside me. That flame isn’t much bigger than a candle right now, but I can sense how easy it would be for it to grow, to rise higher and higher until it sets my world on fire.

I’m standing at the threshold of a moment that will change my life, and not necessarily for the better. I know that, I know it with everything in me, all the way down to the marrow of my bones.

But still I nod. And take his hand. And let him lead me out into the night.

Sandra's Review

This is my first Jessie Evans book and it was awesome! This is a prequel Novella in the Wild Rush Series, to be read before This Wicked Rush. It was a short, easy and sexy read.
Caitlin’s life is full of responsibilities, much more any other woman turning twenty. So she decided that on her twentieth birthday she was going out with her best friend to a club for a night of dancing and letting loose. She had no idea what the night went bring when she starts dancing with a stranger….
Gabe is tired of the girls trying to change his bad boy ways. When he spots a girl on the dance floor that is dancing like nobody is watching he has to be near her. And when he does there is a pull between them. He knows there is something different about her and he will find out why…
Caitlin and Gabe are on fire. It’s only a few hours but oh my God, Gabe is f*cking hot! He is straight to the point and knows exactly what to say. And yes, it sure is one wild night in a few different types of ways…
I highly recommend reading this novella.

Quotes:
It was my twentieth birthday, and I’ve got a fake ID burning a hole in my purse. I’m practically obligated to get wasted.
“Sometimes we don’t know what kind of person we are until we’re put into an impossible situation,” Gabe says.
“If that’s what you want, I say.” “If you’re too proud to beg, then feel free to come on over and you can ride me until-“

Kara's Review

I love Jessie and her books! this is a new genre for her and I love it! This is the prequel novella to This Wicked Rush.
Caitlin is tired from working 2 jobs while raising her brothers and her niece, and she is only 20. On her birthday she decides she needs a night out. She goes out dancing and is approached by Gabe, a hot sexy guy who’s looking for something different than his normal dates. There’s heat, there’s a smokin’ connection and there’s recognition! I think saying it’s a wild night is a bit of an understatement! Do not miss this novella!

Now, he’s sex in two-hundred dollar blue jeans. He is built like an athlete and moves like an animal, so completely uninhibited it makes even me feel reserved in comparison.

“Don’t be afraid….You can trust me. I would never hurt you. I just want to make you feel good.”
“This is so much better than good.”

Author's Bio

jessie

Jessie Evans gave up a career as an international woman of mystery to write the sassy, Southern romances, and sexy, New Adult romances she loves to read.

She’s married to the man of her dreams, and together they’re raising a few adorable, mischievous children in a tree house in the boonies. She grew up in rural Arkansas, spending summers running wild, being chewed by chiggers, and now appreciates her home in a chigger-free part of the world even more.

When she’s not writing, Jessie enjoys playing her dulcimer (badly), sewing the worlds ugliest quilts to give to her friends, going for bike rides with her house full of boys, and wandering the woods, glass of wine and camera in hand, on the lookout for Bigfoot.
