Cover Reveal – Jacob’s Ladder, Katie Ashley

Meet Gabe in Jacob’s Ladder – A new rock star romance

from Katie Ashley releasing this fall!

Add Jacob’s Ladder: Gabe to your TBR: http://bit.ly/2eKxkZN

As the lead songwriter for Jacob’s Ladder, the last thing Gabe Renard needs is a debilitating case of writer’s block. After years of meaningless one night stands, he’s finding it hard to pen the love-filled ballads the label is requesting. In an effort to clear his mind, Gabe takes his jeep off-roading in the North Georgia Mountains. When a wrong-turn leads to him getting stuck more than just creatively, he’s forced to call for help. To his surprise, the “Ray” who has been sent by Hart Wreckers to his aid is actually “Rae”—a sexy-as-hell spitfire in a pair of tight-as-hell jeans. The combination of Rae’s sassy mouth and rocking body might be the inspiration Gabe needs. But for the first time since becoming a rock star, his advances have been shot down.

Reagan Hart has never been a fan of musicians. In fact, just the mention of one might cause her to throw a tire tool. Her disgust for them started when she was just eight and her mother ran off with a traveling country singer, and it only worsened when at seventeen, her rocker boyfriend knocked her up before blowing out of town. As a single mother taking care of her family’s collision business, Rae doesn’t have time for hook ups, much less a relationship. And if she did make time, a musician would be last on her list, even one as good-looking as Gabe Renard.

Can Gabe find the words to prove not only to Rae, but himself, that she’s the only one for him?

Excerpt Reveal – The Last Guy, Ilsa Madden-Mills and Tia Louise

June 1, 2017 By

★★★ EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT ★★★

THE LAST GUY

By Ilsa Madden-Mills and Tia Louise

© Ilsa-Louise Books, 2017

~ Rebecca ~

He kicks the door shut and without even turning on the light, he tosses me on my back on the bed. I prop up on my elbows. My dress is up around my waist, my bra is wet from Cade’s mouth, and my nipples are pointing right at him.

“Damn,” he rasps, and I watch, mesmerized as he reaches behind his neck to pull his shirt over his head, leaving his hair a sexy mess.

The light of the full moon blasting through my window covers him in a silvery glow. My stomach clenches when I see the lines of his muscles deepened by the shadowy light. My God, he’s gorgeous. He looks otherworldly.

“We really shouldn’t do this…” My voice is breathless.

“Agreed.”

He strides toward the bed, his eyes never leaving mine. He’s focused, determined, and I watch long fingers unfasten his belt, the top of his jeans, his zipper.

“This is a terrible idea.”

“Yes,” he murmurs as he cups my face. I sigh and lean into his palm, letting the sizzle between us electrify me. If I do this…if I go through with boning him…it’s going to be the best sex of my life, judging by the tiny raised hairs all over my body.

I scoot to the foot of the bed so I’m right in front of him and my head is level with his waist. Looking up, I slide my palms to his sides, pushing his jeans lower.

He’s standing in front of me in black boxer briefs. I slide my palms up and down against the hot planes of his pelvis, teasing him, tracing my fingers around the straining bulge of his erection. “We’re gonna regret this.”

A long shudder comes from him, and his eyes are heavy-lidded as he watches me. “I don’t think so, Stone. Not in a million fucking years.” He leans down and his lips capture mine, his tongue sweeping inside my mouth, exploring, owning me.

Synopsis

I shouldn’t have remembered him.

He was just a guy who walked through a restaurant. I didn’t know his name. We never made eye contact. There was no connection between us at all.

But I could feel him.

The tingle down my spine. The command in his presence. The snap of tension in the air around him. That was the first time I saw him, and I was captivated.

The second time was different.

He was in the mysterious back elevator of my apartment building. Our eyes met for a fleeting second before the doors closed, and I was staggered. My breath was robbed. My senses on high alert. My body hummed.

That was just the beginning.

He was the leader of the mafia. I was about to fall in love with him, and his name…

I’m a new and now a lifetime fan of Tijan. I love her writing style. There is always emotion mixed with humor, foreplay, sadness and friendship. I didn’t read Carter Reed (I know, hush up!), but we met Cole in Carter Reed 2. I have since purchased both books and will be reading them asafp!

Addison is still grieving after a tragedy one year ago. Her best friend Sia is trying to help her move on. When she gets a tip on an apartment opening in a highly exclusive building, the Mauricio, Addison has to see it. She’s always loved the building. There’s just something about it that calls to her. No one knows who owns the building and the three floors on the top are mysteriously occupied. When Addison and Sia go to their favorite restaurant and witness a group of men sauntering in surrounding a very sexy, very hot, very domineering man, Addison can’t take her eyes off him. Something she hasn’t felt in a long time starts stirring in her blood. When she sees him again in her building she can’t stop thinking about him. She has no idea who he is, but she wants to know. After the third time, he finally introduces himself as Cole. Just Cole. There’s a mutual attraction and it’s strong. Addison finally makes a decision and goes after what she wants. Cole. Flirting turns into dinner which turns into not being able to keep their hands off each other. He can’t tell her anything about who he is or his life. It’s up to her to decide if that’s enough. She can’t walk away from him. The connection is too strong. She craves his touch too much. When she gets a taste of his life and finds out who he is, she has to choose. Can she picture her life without him? Will her heart survive another loss? As I said, I didn’t know Cole before this, but it only took me point three seconds to get sucked into his eyes. To feel exactly what Addison felt when she first saw him. By the third meeting I was literally panting. I couldn’t get enough of this couple. The heat, the suspense. It was addicting. It’s a story about second chances, choosing to live again, friendship and loyalty.

It’d been so long since a man looked at me like that, like I was breathtaking to him, like he wanted to protect me, take me to bed, and laugh all night, all at the same time

My blush was at full force. I felt it creeping down my neck. “Neither. I don’t know what I’m doing.”

“You don’t?”

“I thought a friend was down here.”

“Friend?” He pointed to himself, stepping forward. “Me?”

No. I—” This was stupid. “Yes. You.

A smirk showed on his face, and he took another step closer. “Well, isn’t this a coincidence then?”

One side of his mouth lifted, and if I’d thought he was gorgeous before, the half-smile made him breathtaking.

Excerpt

Once inside the elevator, I stood to one side, watching him. He returned my gaze.

We still did not touch.

My chest tightened, hoping no one would call the elevator at that moment. We sailed past the lobby, the second floor, and stopped at mine. I put in the code, and the doors opened to my home.

I drew in a breath, filling my lungs again. God, it was time.

Stepping out with shaky knees, I bypassed the light switch. The full moon lit up my entire floor. I went to the kitchen and paused at the island. “Did you want something to drink?” I caught sight of the tequila and wine on the counter. There was more than enough.

Cole stepped up behind me and followed my gaze. “Were you going to have a party?” he asked, his breath coating the back of my neck.

I shivered, closing my eyes for one delicious moment. “I stocked up. I thought a friend was coming over tonight.”

His hand rested on my back, nudging my sweater aside to touch my skin. “He?”

“She. Sia.” I looked over my shoulder. He was so close. “She stood me up for a date.”

A faint smile showed. “I need to send her a thank-you card.”

“Please don’t sign it.”

“Why not?”

I turned around, easing my back against the island. Cole placed his hands on either side of me, trapping me in place.

“Because she’s slightly obsessed with you, though she’s in love with someone else now. She could circle back,” I joked.

“Me?”

“We saw you one night.”

“When?” He leaned away, but his hands remained on the counter. It was like he was giving me breathing space on purpose.

“At Gianni’s. We went there the night I moved in.”

He didn’t move, but I could feel him pulling away. A protest started in my head, but I bit back the words. He didn’t reply. He was waiting for me instead.

I continued, “You came in with a bunch of men and went upstairs. That was it.”

His eyes narrowed. “Did you talk to anyone?”

“What do you mean?”

“The staff?”

“About you?”

“About anything.”

My forehead wrinkled. “Sia networked with the hostess. They exchanged cards. Sia said the girl was a model. She recognized her from the Gala. That was it. Oh, well, another server sat with us for a drink later on. But they mostly talked with Sia about the Gala and about photographers—stuff like that.”

He relaxed, his hands loosening their hold on the counter. I was scared to ask what he was so worried they’d told us.

“I don’t know who you are.” I lifted a hand, placing it on his chest. His heart was racing, just like mine. My mouth parted in surprise. “If that’s what you’re worried about.”

He glanced down at my hand and held still. He was thinking something over. I held my tongue, worried it was me, that he was second-guessing this night for us. I wanted to tell him there was nothing to worry about, but it sounded ridiculous. I really had no idea. So I waited it out, my heart pressing against my rib cage.

When he looked back up, the hunger was in his eyes again—dark, primal, and more evident than ever. He took my hand and leaned in, closing the distance between us. With his other hand, he cupped the side of my face. “I wasn’t second-guessing this. I want you to know that.” His touch was tender.

“What were you thinking about?”

“Something else, but it wasn’t you.”

“This is one of those moments where you wish you could tell me, but you can’t? Not yet?”

The corner of his mouth lifted. His eyes moved from mine to my lips. “Something like that, yes.”

“Mmmm-hmmm,” I started to tease, but then his head dipped down, and his lips were on mine.

I gasped. The pleasure was immediate. His mouth was gentle, but as he felt my body’s reaction, he applied pressure. His touch grew more demanding, then I was kissing him back. I wanted more. Someone groaned. That was me.

His hand slid around to the back of my neck. He held me in his grip as his mouth explored mine, opening over me and slipping inside. My hands grasped his shoulders, just holding on. All I could focus on was his tongue. I met his with mine and reveled in the sensation. But it wasn’t enough. Need shot through my whole body.

My hands slid under his shirt and moved over his back and shoulders. His body was just as powerful as his presence. I felt the shift of his muscles. They trembled under my hands. The feeling was intoxicating. I had power over him, and I wanted more. I wanted to see how much power I actually had.

Pulling back, I studied him.

He was panting lightly. So was I.

I could see him wondering what I was going to do, so I reached back to the counter and started to lift myself. His hands caught the backs of my thighs, and he lifted me the rest of the way. Now sitting on the edge of the island, my legs parted, and he was back between them. His mouth went right to mine.

I couldn’t get over what I was doing. I didn’t care.

I didn’t think I would care the next day, the day after, or however long this lasted. I had no clue. I only knew I had one night. One long night.

tijan

I didn’t begin writing until after undergraduate college. There’d been storylines and characters in my head all my life, but it came to a boiling point one day and I HAD to get them out of me. So the computer was booted up and I FINALLY felt it click. Writing is what I needed to do. After that, I had to teach myself how to write. I can’t blame my teachers for not teaching me all those years in school. It was my fault. I was one of the students that was wishing I was anywhere but at school! So after that day, it took me lots of work until I was able to put together something that resembled a novel. I’m hoping I got it right since someone must be reading this profile! And I hope you keep enjoying my future stories.

A new standalone romance from Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author Ilsa Madden-Mills…

They say nothing compares to your first kiss,

But our first kiss was orchestrated for an audience.

Our second kiss…that one was REAL.

He cradled my face like he was terrified he’d f*ck it up.

He stared into my eyes until the air buzzed.

Soft and slow, full of sighs and little laughs,

He inhaled me like I was the finest Belgian chocolate,

And he’d never get another piece.

A nip of his teeth, his hand at my waist…

And I was lost.

I forgot he was paying me to be his fake fiancée.

I forgot we weren’t REAL.

Our kiss was pure magic, and before you laugh and say those kinds of kisses don’t exist…

Then you’ve never touched lips with Max Kent, the hottest quarterback in college history.

Get ready for breathtaking kisses and dreamy football players…

Kara's Review

5 Stars

Fake Fiancée is Ilsa Madden Mills’ newest standalone romance. I always know when I pick up one of her books that I’m going to be entertained by the love story, the witty banter, the sexiness, the suspense and the angst. Always the perfect combo! The first time sassy Sunny meets sexy Max Kent, she feels a connection that she’s not prepared for. Little does she know that he feels it too. It’s more than chemistry but neither of them knows what it means. They are both coming off break ups and Max has the great idea to pretend to be dating. It will get his ex and any other girl sniffing around off his back and he can concentrate on the only important thing to him. Winning the Heisman. There’s something different about Sunny and he can’t help but be drawn to her. She’s pretty and sexy, but she’s much more. She’s funny, sassy and tells him exactly what she’s thinking. She’s not after something like all the other girls. Sunny is attracted to Max and her head knows it’s fake and they are pretending, but her body wants him. Badly. Max doesn’t just want Sunny in his bed, he wants to talk with her, hang out with her and get to know her. He doesn’t need a relationship to cloud his goal. But, Sunny gets under his skin and he can’t help fall for her. Where does that leave him now? Can he have both, the real fiancée and the Heisman? Sunny wants it to be real. Will she be able to trust Max? I loved this story and this couple! They have crazy chemistry and hilarious banter. Max is sexy as hell! I honestly wasn’t ready for their story to be over. I want more!

PS. Funniest grandma in the history of the world!

“Yep. Now smile.” I held the phone up for a selfie, licked her on the cheek and snapped the pic. Boom.

“Once I like you, you’re mine,” I said softly.

“You’ve got that dreamy look on your face. Whatcha thinking about?”

“You.”

He grinned. “I am pretty damn dreamy.”

Sandra's Review

5 Stars

Fake Fiancée is a standalone novel by the amazing Ilsa Madden-Mills. I have only read a few of her books but I loved them so much that I didn’t even read the synopsis for for this one. I mean the title and that cover was enough for me to want my greedy hands on it. This is a story about a quarterback and his cookie…

Max Kent is a college football star and on his way to winning the Heisman. And he wanted her. Wanted her to be his fake girlfriend. This was his year and he couldn’t fuck it up. No fights. No groupies. No rumors. This was the perfect plan. Sunny Blaine could be the ticket to the Heisman. She could be the woman on the side of his arm that would keep him calm and keep the groupies from picking his locks. And who doesn’t love a love story? Even if it was a fake one. It had to be. He didn’t have time for distractions. Football is his life. He has to keep his eye on the prize no matter what. But he never expected Sunny to be the sunshine in the darkness. He didn’t expect the woman with a mess of hair, a pissed off attitude, and a body that he wanted to discover would change his life with one knock on his door.

Sunny didn’t want him. Nope. Not one bit. She vowed to stay away from athletes. They were her kryptonite. But when Max Kent kisses you. You feel it all over. And when he comes up with a crazy ass proposal that is a win-win. You take it. But she will not fall for the quarterback. She will cash her check, pretend to love him, watch a few games, and then walk away. How hard could it be? He didn’t really want her anyway. It was all for show. All for the Heisman. I mean, how could someone like him, want someone like me? He is a star football player. I am a plain Jane. We might feel some kind of connection but it’s definitely not a love one. Maybe a friendship one but that’s all it could ever be. Right?

Max and Sunny’s relationship is a complicated one. They feel something but can’t define it. Then of course it’s the “was that a real kiss or a fake one?” thing. But one thing is for sure, they start to feel more comfortable around each other more every day. Sunny has been on her own for years and Max has his team but not really any other family. So it’s nice to have one another to talk to about that part of their lives. Then of course, there is the kissing, hand holding, and protectiveness. It’s a friendship. But could it turn into more or will Sunny cash her check and walk away? Will Max let her go after the season? Was it all fake or was it real and they didn’t realize it? Will the pressure he is feeling ruin him?

Awe…I loved this story. The timing of it was perfect. They are at the age in college where they have to think more about their futures and not just about the next party. Max might be a football star but he is more than that. It shows in the way he carries himself. Not everyone can see it but it’s there. And Sunny…she is a badass with a heart of gold. Together, they are something else. I felt a connection between them from the very start. Their banter is fun. Their chemistry is hot. Their friendship is unexpected. Their story is everything.

Overall…I laughed. I cried. I wanted to slap a bitch. I cheered. And I got hot and bothered. One amazing combo of emotions! I didn’t want it to end.

🏈 and 🍪 = 💋

P.S. I ❤ Mimi!!

Quotes:

“We could be the best damn Hallmark movie ever made, Sunny.” My voice was dead serious.

“Hmmm, if I had to pick qualities in a fake boyfriend, I’d want him to be a great spider killer. Are you?”
“They don’t scare me.”
“Even the big hairy ones? There’s one currently residing in my bedroom somewhere.” I grinned.
“Let me come over and I’ll hunt him down.”

“You bloody shocked him into silence.”

Excerpt

Max stalked over to the barrier that divided the stands from the football field and jumped it. The fans went nuts as he brushed past them, some not even realizing it until he was down the aisle. The Jumbotron followed him.

“Good Lordy, what’s he doing?” Mimi asked, clutching at her chest.

“I don’t know,” I said rather weakly, taking the chance to study him the closer he came. He was beautiful, his shoulders impossibly broad. To add to the distraction, his helmet was in his hand and all that dark brown hair was flowing around his chiseled features as if he had a fan in his face. My Viking.

“He’s coming over here,” Mimi commented.

He was. But why?

I stopped breathing . . .right when he came to a halt in front of me and knelt down on one knee.

Eyes the color of a wild ocean gazed at me.

He took my left hand in his right one.

“Max,” I breathed, my heart fluttering.

He gazed up at me. “Sunny Blaine, will you marry me?”

The stadium went wild. In a daze, I looked up at the Jumbotron and felt like I was watching this happen to someone else. Camera phones flashed all around us.

My first clear thought was I’ll kill him.

Aloud, nothing came out but a faint wheeze. Clearly someone had stuffed a giant wad of cotton in my mouth. Clearly I needed something a lot stiffer to drink than this Diet Coke. Clearly my fake boyfriend was a freaking raving lunatic.

He sat his helmet on the ground next to my feet, reached inside it and pulled out a small black box.

No, no, no!

The box opened, and my stomach churned at the sight of the large round solitaire diamond ring that was nestled on the black silk. I blinked repeatedly to clear my vision.

With deft fingers, Max eased it out of the lining and slipped it on my left hand.

I stared down at it. Then back at him.

I was going to murder the hottest quarterback in the country.

Kiss her, Kiss her, the crowd chanted.

We were the focal point of the entire world.

Max stood and tugged me up with him until we were standing. He slid his hand around my neck and pulled his face to mine. The sky was blotted out as he kissed me.

But I hadn’t said yes!

I wouldn’t say yes.

Not to a fake engagement.

The applause of the stadium was deafening. And his kiss—it was deadly. Despite my rage, my body craved him. His lips were hot, so hot, and my tongue met his with a vengeance. We kissed hard, and I nipped at him, my teeth scraping across his lips. But the only one who’d end up bleeding in this scenario was me.

He eased back to take me in, and with a final look at my face he gave a thumbs-up sign to the entire stadium. They went nuts, chanting his name.

“I’m sorry,” he whispered in my ear, letting his hand trail down my arm as he stepped back from me. He walked away backward, eyes on me the entire time. The announcers for the game told everyone who might have missed it that Max Kent had just asked his girlfriend to marry him, and she’d said yes. More cheers came as they replayed him on his knee in front of me with a giant YES written across the top.

I plopped back down in my seat. Frozen.

“. . . did you see her face? Shocked . . .”

“. . . most romantic thing in football . . .”

“. . . luckiest girl in the world . . .”

My face went hot. Even my ears burned. I wanted to crawl under a seat.

God.

What a lie.

The half ended and our offense came out to the field, snapped the ball, and Max threw it straight to Tate who ran it in for another touchdown. My chest constricted and anger churned in my gut.

I didn’t care who won.

I hated football right now.

Most of all, I hated Max Kent, and I was going to make him pay.

It’s not just the motion of the ocean, ladies. It’s definitely the SIZE of the boat too.

And I’ve got both firing on all cylinders. In fact, I have ALL the right assets. Looks, brains, my own money, and a big c&$k.
You might think I’m an as%*$le. I sound like one, don’t I? I’m hot as sin, rich as heaven, smart as hell and hung like a horse.
Guess what? You haven’t heard my story before. Sure, I might be a playboy, like the NY gossip rags call me. But I’m the playboy who’s actually a great guy. Which makes me one of a kind.
The only trouble is, my dad needs me to cool it for a bit. With conservative investors in town wanting to buy his flagship Fifth Avenue jewelry store, he needs me not only to zip it up, but to look the part of the committed guy. Fine. I can do this for Dad. After all, I’ve got him to thank for the family jewels. So I ask my best friend and business partner to be my fiancée for the next week. Charlotte’s up for it. She has her own reasons for saying yes to wearing this big rock.
And pretty soon all this playing pretend in public leads to no pretending whatsoever in the bedroom, because she just can’t fake the kind of toe-curling, window-shattering orgasmic cries she makes as I take her to new heights between the sheets.

But I can’t seem to fake that I might be feeling something real for her.

What the hell have I gotten myself into with this…big rock?
