5 out of 5 stars

Up All Night is the first book in a new series by Annabeth Albert. It’s a small town romance series with first responders. I’m a huge fan of Annabeth’s, her writing and her heroes. This is Sean and Denver’s story. Sean is back home after his divorce staying with a friend who lost his partner. He’s filling in for a firefighter and enjoying being with his family and oldest friends. Then he meets the cook at the diner and is instantly intrigued by him. The first man he’s ever been attracted to. Denver doesn’t do relationships or roots. He’s a nomad and just works and stays somewhere for a while and then moves on. And then he meets Sean. He can’t seem to stay away from him or stop thinking about him, but he doesn’t want to be an experiment for the newly out firefighter. Sean wants more with Denver but knows he’s skittish. He has to figure out how to prove to him that he’s worthy of love, family and loyalty. I really enjoyed this story! Sean is so open about his feelings and doesn’t freak out about being attracted to Denver. Denver has a rough past so he just never learned how to trust anyone. I loved the secondary characters at the firehouse, Sean’s friends and his family. There was a weird interaction with Sean’s son at the end that didn’t sit well with me, but hopefully that will resolve itself. I’m looking forward to the next in the series!

Review Tour – Falling for Raine, Lane Hayes

March 20, 2024 | Posted in Blog Tour | By

The gentleman, the hot mess, and a little British adventure…

Raine

Moving to London is scary and daunting, but I desperately need this job–and a redo. Okay, so I may have oversold my qualifications. That shouldn’t be a big deal, though. I mean, being an assistant’s assistant seems easy enough, and I’m a fast learner.

Hold up!

I’m already in over my head with spreadsheets, new pronunciations, and temperamental appliances. And just as I’m mentally preparing to face going home early, the big boss offers me an opportunity I can’t refuse. And I definitely should because Graham Horsham is an infuriating, complicated grumpy bear with a razor-sharp tongue, a wickedly dry sense of humor, and…I like him far too much.

Graham

I’ve been bamboozled. I’m not quite sure how I ended up with an assistant who spills coffee daily, wears wrinkled shirts, and chatters nonstop. He can’t stay, but I don’t want him to go and that’s madness. The Horsham Group is closing one of our biggest deals ever and I won’t jeopardize it. This one is personal.

Yet so is Raine.

He’s a breath of fresh air—silly, impetuous, lighthearted, good-natured, and…quite lovely. I like him more than I want to admit. For some reason, I can let my guard down with him. It’s unnerving and probably unprofessional.

But not to worry…I will not, under any circumstances, fall for Raine.

Falling for Raine is an MM, age-gap romance featuring a British silver fox, a desperate but adorable American, and a UK adventure!

5 out of 5 stars

Falling for Raine is Lane Hayes’ newest mm romance set in England. It’s an age-gap with a British sexy silver fox and a younger adorable American. One night in Vegas and they thought they’d never see each other again. Until Raine walks into Graham’s office as a new assistant for his company. What are the chances? Graham hasn’t forgotten one second of his night with Raine and now that he’s here working for his company, he’s not sure if he’ll be able to stay away from him. Their relationship is fun, sexy and funny. Raine makes Graham laugh and smile more than he has in years and Graham makes Raine want more. I enjoyed getting to watch these two fall for each other! Lane is a must read for me. She entertains, makes me swoon and writes likeable characters with very little angst.

Review Tour – The Player, Felice Stevens

The Player, an enemies to lovers MM romance from Felice Stevens is available now for you to devour!

Cover Designer: Reese Dante

Kara's Review

5 out of 5 stars

The Player is Felice Stevens’ newest small town, sport romance. I really enjoyed this romance between Keller, former NFL star who returned home to coach his high school football team and the school librarian, single dad whose son plays on the team. Niall never expects to see Keller again. They went to high school together and he blames him for his friends bullying him. He quickly learns Keller had no idea that it was happening. Neither Keller or Niall are out and it’s a small town so the more time they spend together, the more reality hits. What happens when the town finds out? Are they all small minded like the few who protest? I really enjoyed the relationship between Keller and Niall. It was sweet and fun and a little spicy. I loved Niall’s son David and the strong, respectful relationship they have. I thought the way Keller bonding with his players was great and I loved all the football. Overall, I really enjoyed getting to know Keller and Niall and loved the secondary characters. The only thing that took me a minute to get over was Keller Williams is a real estate company (the one my realtor actually works for) so that was odd at first. I wouldn’t mind a short follow up to see where Keller and Niall are today and maybe some of the kids!

Blurb:

Friday night lights hide more than they reveal…

When retired NFL superstar Keller Williams returns to his small town to coach his old high school football team, he’s surprised how much he enjoys being out of the limelight and on the field with the kids. Even more surprising is his immediate attraction to the father of one of his players—single dad Niall Harper.

Problem number one: Niall Harper isn’t gay.

Problem number two: Keller isn’t out to the world.

Problem number three: Niall hates his guts. And Keller has no idea why.

High school librarian Niall Harper has always done the right thing. Except be true to himself. Divorced and raising his teenaged son, Niall is dismayed to discover the new football coach is none other than his long-ago Friday night fantasy and nemesis. Not that it matters—Keller doesn’t remember him. It’s nothing new; Niall has always been easy to forget. Now Keller wants to be friends. And more. Niall can’t deny the annoying man makes him laugh and feel things he’d only dreamed possible. But would a player like Keller be satisfied with a regular guy like him?

Being together is more than complicated, but they are willing to take the risk. Niall reveals he’s dating his son’s coach, and Keller comes out to the team, his fans, the press, and small-town gossips. Neither is prepared for the fallout, but that doesn’t stop them. It’s time to throw the Hail Mary pass of a lifetime and win the game of forever. And they’re ready.

New Release & Review – Mr. Important, Lucy Lennox & May Archer

March 14, 2024 | Posted in Release Day Blitz, Review | By

One New Year’s masquerade. One anonymous hookup. One billionaire-sized mistake.

Once upon a time, someone looked at my scrawny, impetuous eight-year-old self and nicknamed me Mr. Important… and I believed them.

That was my first mistake.

Two decades, a dozen failed careers, and a thousand meaningless hookups later, I’ve made more mistakes than I can count. My parents have decided I’m purely decorative, my brother thinks I need pep talks, and the gorgeous billionaire who hired me as a favor to my dad? He’s forgotten I exist.

So I’m done with mistakes.

Call it my New Year’s resolution. From now on, I’m going after what I want… starting with the mysterious silver fox in the Roman warrior mask who approached me at the charity gala and offered me a scorching, anonymous one-night stand.

Unfortunately, when our masks come off I realize mistakes are not done with me.

Because the bossy guy who blew my mind? He’d thought I was someone else. Worse than that, he’s my father’s friend. A supposedly-straight workaholic. The person I’m stuck on a road trip with for the next two weeks. And, oh yeah, my actual boss.

The farther we get from New York, the closer we become, and the harder it is to pretend I’m not falling for him. But I can’t see how someone as brilliant, controlled, and successful as Thatcher Pennington would risk everything to be with someone like me… even if he makes me feel like I’m finally Mr. Important.

Kara's Review

5 out of 5 stars

Mr. Important is the next book in the Honeybridge series by Lucy Lennox and May Archer. This has some of my favorite tropes: Age gap, father’s friend and forced proximity. We met Reagan and Thatcher in Firecracker and I was so happy to hear this was their story. Older, billionaire friend of his dad’s and his boss who he has to spend weeks with on a bus cruising around the country for work. After one hot as sin night together. What?! Reagan is young, but he’s not innocent or naïve. He’s had a crush on Thatcher for a long time and now he has to pretend he doesn’t while he spends all day and night with him. Thatcher can’t stop thinking about the night they spent together. After spending time together he realizes Reagan is smart, dedicated, talented and nothing like his father always said he was. He’s captivating and charming all the people he meets. Most of all he’s charming Thatcher. Time’s almost up and Thatcher can’t stay away from Reagan anymore. Once he touches him again, he knows he’s going to want more and more. When they need to make a stop in Honeybridge, they have to deal with Thatcher’s son Brantleigh (who we also met in Firecracker), a disgruntled employee and Reagan’s family. It takes Reagan needing him for Thatcher to jump into action and want to be there for someone he loves. Yep, he fell in love with his friend’s son. But he’s not going back. I loved, loved, loved this story! Reagan and Thatcher are so fun and great together. They work so well together at the company and in the bedroom. I also loved McGee and some of the secondary characters. Don’t forget to get the bonus story!

New Release & Review – If You Hate Me, Helena Hunting

March 7, 2024 | Posted in New Release, Review | By

It’s release day for If You Hate Me, a brand new standalone hate-to-love, brother’s best friend hockey romance from Helena Hunting.
My new roommates are two pro hockey players.
First, my manwhore older brother, and second, his seriously hot best friend (who I seriously hate).
This was a last resort.
No one should be sleeping on a futon that smells like Cheetos and ball sweat.
But here I am, trying to get my life together.
Tristan Stiles is the bane of my existence.
He never wears a shirt.
We can’t seem to stop fighting.
He’s an arrogant playboy with a filthy reputation.
Sure, I had a crush on him when I was fourteen, but that was a long time ago.
I know better than to trust him.
I just need to survive long enough to find a new job and get a new place.
And not accidentally let Tristan rail me into next week.

4.5 out of 5 stars

If You Hate Me is the first book in a new hockey series by Helena Hunting. (Pause for major cheers!) I’m already looking forward to more in the series and trying to pair all the characters up in my head. This is a brother’s best friend, enemies to lovers and it was fun, emotional, and extremely spicey. I think this is the spiciest book I’ve read of Helena’s. Rix and Tristan legit hate each other. But all that hate is just foreplay. They’ve known each other since they were young, but now they are living together temporarily and after all that foreplay the hate just explodes into lust of epic proportions. They agree it’s just until she finds a new place to live. After that, every available moment, surface and place is on the sexy list. Then those pesky feelings creep in and Tristan can’t handle them. His past is just too much for him to move past and realize he’s allowed to be happy. To be loved. Rix didn’t want to fall for Tristan, but she did and now she doesn’t know what to do. He keeps running and she can’t keep chasing him. Tristan needs to get his crap together or he’s going to lose the best thing that’s ever happened to him. I really like Rix and Tristan and this new set of characters! There were a few scenes that had me covering my eyes and ears and a few that I felt detracted from the story. Tristan is a filthy, dirty man and Rix loved it. I loved their banter and the times when Tristan was sweet and aggressive. I had the pleasure of listening to the audio and Conner and CJ really killed it! Overall, I enjoyed it! It was a little too dirty for me at times, but I enjoyed them enough and was invested in their happily ever after. I loved Rix and the girls and all the characters who are going to delight me in the rest of the series!

Release Day Blitz & Review – Small Town Swoon, Melanie Harlow

March 4, 2024 | Posted in Release Day Blitz | By

Only in the movies does the Hollywood heartthrob fall for the small town diner waitress.

So when Dashiel Buckley returns to Cherry Tree Harbor for a wedding, I’m determined not to let my massive crush on my best friend’s older brother hijack my good sense.

(It happened once before. Do not recommend.)

But when my hand is injured, it’s Dash who steps in at the diner. The moment he realizes I can’t afford to fix my car, he takes care of it. And when he hears about the way my toxic ex treated me, he refuses to let it go.

Now it’s not just his blue eyes and sexy smile that have me swooning, it’s the way he wants to help me. Encourage me. Protect me.

I can’t resist.

Our text messages heat up. Our phone calls melt all my defenses. “Just friends” turns into “just once,” and “just once” becomes a distant memory. Night after night, he warms my bed, my body, and my heart.

But it can’t last.

Our dreams have us on two different paths–Dash wants the lights, camera, action of Hollywood, and I’ll always be a small town girl.

If only I could be his.

Sandra's Review

5 out of 5 stars

Small Town Swoon is the fourth book in the Cherry Tree Harbor series by the very talented, Melanie Harlow. You can read each book as standalone but I highly recommend reading the series. The Buckley men are swoon-y, sweet, protective, and full of surprises.

Dash needed to dig deep with his emotions to further his acting career and that first starts with going home. Then stripping down to his purest self (literally! Lol). He was headed home for his brother’s wedding so why not go early and be surrounded by the ones who know him best. What he didn’t expect was to want to spend so much time with the woman who hated him most. Or so he thought…

Ari has loved Dash since she was sixteen. After one humiliating night, she had tried to stay away from the famous actor. And now he was back and being all nice and $hit. He was showing over sides to him and she is here for it. Her walls are coming down but should they? After the wedding he was going back to LA and she was staying in Cherry Tree Harbor. Can they really go back to being friends after spending night after night in each other’s arms?

This might be my favorite of the series. I loved these two! The support they have for each other’s dreams is swoon-y in itself. Then add in their connection, it’s truly beautiful. I loved their journey!

Review Tour – The Surrogate, Penelope Ward

March 1, 2024 | Posted in Blog Tour | By

Title: The Surrogate
Author: Penelope Ward
Genre: Standalone Contemporary Romance
Tropes: Age Gap/Widower/Found Family
Forbidden/Enemies to Friends to Lovers
Release Date: February 26, 2024
BLURB

From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward comes a new, STANDALONE novel…

ABBY:

I’m falling for the father of the baby I’m carrying.
The problem is: it’s not my baby.
And the broody widower is not looking for a long-term partner.
As a surrogate, the deal was that I’d only be in England long enough to give birth.
At first, the man seemed as pretentious as his name: Sigmund Benedictus.
He and I butted heads.
Sig challenged my intentions, accused me of just wanting to do this for the money.
Gradually, he learned to trust me.
He even became protective.
Over time, our heated animosity turned into fiery chemistry.
I was falling in love with him.
But my time here had a limit.
I needed to protect my heart from the devastatingly gorgeous older man who’d end up breaking it.

SIG:

When my in-laws told me they wanted to use my dead wife’s eggs to conceive a grandchild, I wasn’t immediately on board.
They swore that on her deathbed Britney told them it was what she wanted—but only if I fathered the baby. Her parents insisted they would be the ones to raise it.
Against my better judgment, I agreed.
I vowed to keep my heart out of it, though.
I’d continue to pretend it wasn’t happening and live the empty, single life I’d become accustomed to the past five years since Britney died.
And despite the fact that a certain younger American named Abby Knickerbocker had awakened things inside me that I thought were long dead…
I most certainly wouldn’t fall in love with the surrogate.

The Surrogate is Penelope Ward’s newest epic romance. If you read The Aristocrat then you have met Sigmund, Leo’s cousin. If you follow my reviews then you might know that I don’t read blurbs unless it’s a new-to-me author until I need to write the review (don’t want those spoilers) so I actually didn’t even know it was going to be his story. Once I discovered that it was it, I was obsessed. And the obsession just grew and grew from there. The blurb is perfection so I don’t want to get too much into the storyline.

Abby and Sig’s relationship is complicated times ten but from the meet-cute, I knew it was going to be a crazy, beautiful, and emotional ride. And a fun one too!! I loved their journey, it’s so unique and I felt I was right there with them along the way. In London. In the countryside. Like I was a guest in the inn Abby was staying in. I was invested. They just made me laugh, cry, swoon, and just think, really. It’s one of my favorite books of 2024. One of my favorite books ever. I loved it so much, it’s hard to put into words. Just read it. Period. It’s an unforgettable story.

The Surrogate is Penelope Ward’s newest romance and one of my favorites from her! I didn’t have the pleasure of reading The Aristocrat, but I still loved Sig from the start. He’s complicated, but deep down is a loving, sweet man. He’s still heartbroken after losing his wife, and really not sure what he’s doing with his personal life. When his in-laws want to use a surrogate to have a grandbaby from their daughter’s frozen eggs who passed away a few years ago and they ask for Sig’s sperm, he’s not sure what to do. He agrees to meet the surrogate even though he doesn’t trust her. He’s instantly attracted to her and that is bad, bad, bad. They can’t stop fighting and exchanging barbs. He can’t fall for her. She can’t want him. But oh do they and they can! I loved watching Sig and Abby fight and then really get to know each other. It’s a complicated relationship and situation, but it’s fun, emotional, sexy and I loved every minute of it!

I’m Ben Boerboom, the NHL’s favorite puck boy, and Lara’s my slamming hot, former bestie. She’s also the friend who got away and my dirty, dirty accomplice from those two insane weeks that weren’t supposed to change anything… but did.

I wanted it all. Would have wrapped my forever around her finger if she’d let me. But if making bad decisions is my special skill, Lara’s is making good ones… Like prioritizing her career goals and the kind of security she didn’t have growing up.

Hard pass on that kind of heartbreak again. So cue the bunnies. Years of bunnies.

Now Lara’s back in my city. Temporarily. And thanks to a burst pipe and a miscommunication with my sister, she’s living in my spare room.

A lot has changed, but two things haven’t. Her goals and the way she sometimes believes my bad ideas are good… like crossing those lines I swore we wouldn’t cross again.

Sandra's Review

5 out of 5 stars

Dirty Flirt is the tenth book in the Slayers Hockey series by Mira Lyn Kelly. Each book can be read as standalone but I recommend reading the series since they are all fun, sexy, sweet, and oh so swoony. Boomer has been there in the background making me laugh with his antics and now he is front and center and I am here for it.

Boomer was shocked when his roommate/best friend was moving out with his sister literally the minute after the announcement. He was even more shocked that Piper already set him up with a new roommate. He was flabbergasted when he found out it was his former best friend from high school. The girl he hasn’t spoken to in eight years. She went to college. He went into the league. He didn’t know what he was getting himself in to letting this happen but he would never turn his back on Lara. She was the friend that got away. They shared a few dirty secret weeks together before they went their separate ways and now she was back. Temporary.

Lara needed a home base quick. Her place in Chicago flooded and after calling everyone she knew in the city, Piper was the only one who had a room. What she didn’t know was that she would be rooming with her brother not her. She didn’t want this to be awkward. She has seen the headlines about Boomer’s bunny-loving ways. Was the Ben she knew still inside the man she doesn’t know now?

Yes. And to Ben, she is the only one who sees it. The click is still there. Its slow going but once the comfort sets in so does the friendship but is there more?

Mira killed it with this one. I love second-chances, friends-to-lovers, and close proximity and it has all three plus hockey? Gimme, gimme. I loved their banter, flirty ways, and just the way they made me laugh and swoon at the same time. I am excited about the next book!
