The Tease is the third book in the The Virgin Society by Lauren Blakely. I am loving this series so hard. Forbidden, age-gap, and unique! And oh, so delicious. I was so excited about this couple and damn…they blew my exceptions in every single way.
When Jules was invited to play piano at an exclusive after-dark masquerade party she knew it would be a good time but never expected to find a man, a stranger who treated her like his every fantasy. And she wanted more…
More from a man who she wants to explore with. From a man who not only lit her up but made her explode in lust. One touch just wasn’t enough. She wants it all. She has never wanted anything more than one more night with her phantom. Only, it turns out he isn’t a stranger after all…he is her father’s best friend.
Two words. Off-limits. Two more words. One night. That’s all it can ever be. One explosive, fantasy-filled, unforgettable night. Then they need to act like it never happened except, like I mentioned, it was unforgettable. So, when they have to go away for a week together to the city of love, it’s hard to resist…
I ♥️ Finn & Jules!! They not only have their filthy kinks to share but they have so much more. Finn is a single dad who loves his son fiercely. Jules is a badass who is navigating through her past so she can move on with her future. Together, they are full of fun, laughter, passion, support, love, and a true connection. They see each other like nobody else does.
5 out of 5 stars

The Tease is the third book in The Virgin Society by Lauren Blakely. I’m loving this series and I love this father’s best friend, age-gap, single dad romance! We have known Jules for a while and now we get her full story! She likes to pretend. And when she has the opportunity to play piano at a masquerade party she’s all in. She meets a sexy, older man and they have an instant connection. It’s hot and sexy and then it turns out it’s her father’s best friend. They can’t see each other again, but it’s hard to stay away. Especially when they find themselves working together. In Paris. All bets are off. Now they just have to decide if they are going to fight for what they want or stop because it’s forbidden? I love Jules and Finn! They are fun, sexy, sweet and perfect for each other. I loved seeing the other characters from the series!

Audio: Vanessa Edwin and Jason Clarke did a fantastic job narrating Jules and Finn. They are a few of my favorites!

Blurb:

I swear I’m a good girl.

I didn’t go to the exclusive, after-hours masquerade to kiss my dad’s best friend. I didn’t even know who the masked man was when he touched me like I was his every fantasy.

But when I learn exactly how off-limits my new lover is, I do my best to avoid him the next time. Except, he has his sinful sights set on me, even when he discovers who I am. Just one time, he whispers. Then we’ll pretend this never happened.

Seems the enigmatic, gorgeous single dad I’ve known by day is a very dirty man after dark.

But one night turns into a stolen weekend, giving me a taste of so much more. When it ends, we vow to stay apart.

We could never work.

He’s focused on raising his young son, and I can’t let my already damaged family break more. But the caring, possessive man keeps coming back to me, and these secret nights tangled up together are turning into tender moments that make my heart thunder.

And soon, this tease of a forbidden romance is making me want so much more than I can ever have…

The first time I met Winter Marks, I almost took her out with my Jeep.

To be fair, she came out of nowhere.

I flirted with her, and she flipped me off and disappeared into the woods on her bike.

But she left me a souvenir: a single hockey skate.

Seemed to me that divine intervention shouldn’t be ignored.

She was my icy Cinderella and I would be her Prince Not-So-Charming.

Winter was more than just a sassy, badass hockey-playing hottie.

She’s stuck in a prison of a life. And I’m the perfect escape.

Neither of us expected to fall.

Or for the truth to shatter us.

Kara's Review

Shattered Truths is the third book in the Lies, Hearts, and Truths series by H. Hunting. I love this series to the ends of the earth. This is the second generation from the Pucked series and since Randy was my favorite, I’ve been waiting for his son’s story. BJ, the ultimate good guy who looks like a bad boy. The fun-loving player who’s a badass figure skater. A chance meeting with his car and her bike, Winter isn’t thrilled to see BJ again. She has no idea who he is, but quickly learns in Pearl Lake everyone knows everyone! She didn’t realize BJ would find her, convince her to join him and his friends on the ice and definitely didn’t expect to actually like him. Just being who he is, he opens door for Winter that she never thought possible. BJ has never felt for anyone the way he feels for Winter. He wants to get to know her, spend time with her and yes, kiss the life out of her, but he wants to take it slow. Prove to her that he’s serious. Winter’s life isn’t easy and BJ just wants to be there for her in whatever ways she needs. He shows up, he cares and he keeps showing her he’s not going anywhere. As their relationship progresses, they learn to tell each other the truth, be open and listen. Winter is there when BJ needs her the most and she returns all the favors. She’s there for him, she pushes him and she just loves him. This story. Oh. My. God. I had to sit for a few days before I could even figure out what to say and it’s not even coming out right. I can’t express how much I love BJ and Winter. They are wise beyond their years and so damn funny and sexy and supportive. I love how much they are there for each other and their feelings never waver. Yes, things happen, but they work it out. It’s the outside forces that try to take them down. I absolutely loved seeing Randy and Lily again and all the characters I have loved over the years. This is one of my top favorites of 2023 and Helena exceeded my expectations with BJ’s story!

Audio: Zachary and Andi killed it! They sounded so great together and they were the perfect BJ and Winter!

Review Tour – I Could Never, Penelope Ward

August 25, 2023 | Posted in Review | By

Title: I Could Never
Author: Penelope Ward
Genre: Standalone Contemporary Romance
Tropes: Forbidden Romance/Enemies to Lovers
Release Date: August 21, 2023
BLURB

From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward comes a new forbidden, enemies-to-lovers story…

It all started with an unexpected phone call.
Two years after my fiancé passed away in an accident, his father died suddenly, leaving Brad’s adult, special-needs brother with no one to care for him.
The next thing I knew, I was on a cross-country drive to New Hampshire where I’d be moving in to look after Scottie until I could get him into a group home.
The last thing I ever expected?
I wouldn’t be taking care of him alone.
Josh Mathers, my fiance’s best friend—who also happened to be my sworn enemy—insisted he was the better person for the job. He told me to go back to California, and I told him where he could stick that demand.
Our disdain for each other wasn’t anything new. It dated back to a text I’d accidentally read years ago.
We hated each other. But we both loved Scottie, so neither of us budged.
Now we were living together in a tiny house—with one available bedroom. Thank goodness it was only temporary.
Over time, I realized the broody jerk I thought I knew was different than I’d imagined.
I found myself slowly growing attached to someone I once considered the enemy…and growing attracted to him.
Sure, both of us were guilt-ridden over Brad. We were also two grown people with pent-up frustration toward one another—stuck in a cabin in the woods.
But this was Josh.

I could never.

5 out of 5 stars

I Could Never is Penelope Ward’s newest romance. This is an enemies-to-lovers slow burn, but freaking hysterical and full of heart and hope. The subject matter is sad, but done so well that you feel for them while also rooting for them to make a move. They both lost someone important to them, Carly’s fiancé and Josh’s best friend and they are the only one who knows what the other is going through. But the longer they are together, the more they care about each other. I laughed out loud so much and most of the book is foreplay and I loved it! Penelope knows how to entertain us with her complex characters and heartwarming situations.

Sandra's Review

5 out of 5 stars

I Could Never is the newest standalone by Penelope Ward. If you follow my reviews then you know I love going in without the read the synopsis. Once I figured out it was a forbidden, enemies-to-lovers story, I was extra excited.

Carly lost the love of her life two years ago and his father just recently passed away. After getting her life in order in California she hit the road to a small-town in New Hampshire to take care of Brad’s adult brother with special needs. She felt in her heart it was where she needed to be. At least until a home was available to fit Scottie’s needs. She didn’t know what to expect but she definitely didn’t expect him to show up…

Josh. Brad’s best friend. The last person she wanted to be stuck in the house with. He was a bad influence while Brad was alive so she didn’t trust him to take care of Scottie on his own like he insisted. Apparently, they had the same idea and neither of them were leaving. They hated each other but they loved Brad and Scottie so they had to make it work. It was only going to be a few weeks, a few months, tops. But like I said, the unexpected happens…

An attraction. One neither one of them wants. They think it’s wrong. A betrayal to Brad. It’s not something they take lightly but damn does it make the book amazing. A slow burn. The flirt. The innuendos. The sexual tension is explosive. I absolutely loved it. Its heartfelt, funny, sexy, and emotional.

Josh sat at the table, casually having coffee as I walked into the house after my drive home from the salon. The smell of cigarettes emanated from him. He hadn’t smelled like that since the first day he arrived.
“Where’s Scottie?” I asked.
“In his room,” he answered without making eye contact.
I stated the obvious. “You smell like smoke.”
“Must be the firewood.” He brought his mug to his mouth.
“Bullsh*t. The pellet stove doesn’t emit any fumes.”
“Yeah. I caved and had one. Big deal.” He pointed toward the door. “I did it outside, though, while keeping an eye on Scottie through the window.”
“You’d been doing so well. What happened?”
He still wasn’t looking at me, and instead stared straight ahead. “Just human, I guess.”
Then something in front of him on the table caught my attention: pieces of ripped pages piled atop…my journal.
A rush of adrenaline shot through me. “Why do you have that?”
“It’s apparently your diary.”
“I’m quite aware of that.” My heart began to pound. “You were snooping in my room?”
He shot daggers at me. “Think, Carly. Of the two guys in this house, who is the one more likely to have been ransacking your room?”
“You were supposed to be watching him while I was at the salon,” I yelled.
“God forbid I take a piss in peace. Is it not bad enough that I’m showering with him now? Getting my balls tugged?”
I wanted to laugh, but this moment was far from funny.
“Scottie ripped those pages out?”
“The notebook is bright orange, like his iPad cover. Probably caught his attention. The drawer next to your bed was open, so he must have gone in there. I assume that’s where you kept it. Admittedly, I’d been letting him hang out in your room, but you sometimes do, too. I went to check on him, make sure he wasn’t doing anything bad, and found those pages strewn about.” A vein popped in his neck.
Josh was angry. Why? I should’ve been the angry one.
“Did you read it?”
“I only happened to see what was on the pages he ripped. I didn’t read anything else once I figured out what the hell it was.”
This is bad. Starting to sweat, I asked, “But how much did you see?”
He stood up from his seat and slowly approached me. With each step he took toward me, I took one back. When we could go no farther, he placed his arms on either side of me, leaning his hands against the wall. And I forgot how to breathe.
Fear. Arousal. Embarrassment. You name it, I was feeling it right now. Every emotion hit me at once.
His breath grazed my face. “How much did I actually see?” He paused. “Enough to know you think I’m an evil pig.”
Ugh. No. Now his anger made sense.
When he backed away, I walked over to the ripped pages on the table and sifted through them.
“It’s the last one, for reference,” he noted.
I read what I’d written the other night.

Review Tour – On the 2, Felice Stevens

About On the 2

First rule of riding the subway:

Don’t talk to strangers.

Don’t even look at anyone.

But what if they’re grouchy and gorgeous and you’re sitting right next to them?

I always did like a challenge.

I want to turn that frown upside down, but he barely looks at me.

I take a chance and poke the bear, and to my shock, he plays along and growls back.

The more we meet on the train, the more I realize he’s not the uptight grump I first thought. Then one night, there he is—in my world, in my space…his tongue in my mouth.

Mind blown.

But I’m no fool. A man like Nash Roman doesn’t date a guy who sells suits at Macy’s.

Nash is prep school and Ivy League, and I’m night school while working two jobs to pay bills. Nash is fine wine, expensive restaurants and handmade suits, and I’m beer, corner takeout, and a lucky find at Goodwill.

What am I—street-smart Ethan Moreno—doing, playing in his world? This man is older than me, way richer than me, and has already made it clear he doesn’t believe in love. I should walk away. Instead, I’m falling for him. Hard.

Nash couldn’t care less if his father doesn’t think I’m good enough or if people gossip because we’re so different. I need to trust in him and us, but I’ve been burned before.

And just like the Uptown Number 2, sometimes you have to travel a different route to get to the final destination:

Forever.

Kara's Review

5 out of 5 stars

On the 2 is Felice Stevens’ newest standalone m/m romance and I am here for it! Felice’s stories always make me laugh, cry, smile, get hot and bothered and give me hope. Ethan and Nash meet on the 2 train. Nash is older and grouchy and Ethan is young, talkative and happy. It’s the perfect New York story of opposites who randomly meet on the subway. Nash doesn’t want to like Ethan. He’s too young, too handsome. But he can’t stop thinking about him and waiting to see him the next morning. Ethan loves riling up the older man. He’s just being friendly, but damn if he isn’t attracted to Nash. They finally exchange names and when Fate steps in one night and they find themselves at the same bar, it is on! But then Nash is afraid what this means. He’s been so used to working and being alone and Ethan makes him feel things he’s never felt. He wants to be with him, but he’s scared. Ethan isn’t afraid to be with Nash. He wants him more than anything. They have crazy chemistry and more in common than they think. Nash doesn’t care about Ethan’s status or what anyone thinks, but Ethan does. He doesn’t want to look like he’s only with Nash for his money, because he’s just not. On top of this, Nash is still struggling with his relationship with his father who broke his heart when he was a kid but wants to make it right. When Nash realizes his life is better with Ethan, he will stop at nothing to make him his. Forever. I loved these two so much! Their sexiness, their banter, their humor. Just everything. I also love Nash’s friends, who are from previous books of Felice’s that I haven’t read, YET! This story has everything you want in a romance. Fun, sexiness, humor, friends, family, loyalty, lust and hope. Oh, and a happy ending!

Meet Felice Stevens

Felice Stevens writes romance because what is better than people falling in love? Her favorite part of a romance novel is that first kiss…sigh. She loves creating stories of hopes and dreams and happily ever afters. Her stories are character-driven, rich with the sights, sounds and flavors of New York City and filled with men who are sometimes deeply flawed but always real.

Felice writes M/M romance because she believes that everyone deserves a happily ever after. Having traveled all over the world, she can safely say that the universal language that unites people is love. Felice has written in a variety of sub-genres, including contemporary, paranormal and has a mystery series as well.

Felice is the Lambda Literary Award winner for Best Gay Romance for her book, The Ghost and Charlie Muir, and the e-Lit gold medal winner in romance for Broken Silence.
