Release Blitz & Review – What Happens at the Lake, Vi Keeland
January 15, 2024 | Posted in Release Day Blitz, Review | By Two Book Pushers
What Happens at the Lake is Vi Keeland’s newest standalone. If you follow my reviews then you know I don’t read blurbs until I need to write the review so I don’t spoil anything so all I knew was that there was a lake involved. Lol. It’s a beautiful setting, really. I fell for Laurel Lake and the people living there.
Josie grew up in Manhattan but her father was raised in America’s Friendliest Town, Laurel Lake. She always wanted to visit the town her father was so fond of but her mother never wanted to go back. Now, was her chance after a tenant moved out of her father’s home, the one she inherited when she was only thirteen. She had three months to give the home a little TLC and get to know the town her father loved. When she got there, the unexpected happened… She met the grumpiest yet hottest man she has ever laid eyes on. Her neighbor. A man who spoke in grunts.
Fox didn’t need this woman living next door, even temporarily. She was a hot mess emphasis on hot. He knew she was trouble. Not just because he knew he would end up helping her with the house but because this town was about to make the phone lines spark with gossip. Small-town living, right? He loved and hated it at the same time. He knew he was an asshole but it is what it is. He didn’t like change…
And everything was about to change.
Damn…I love a grump, especially one with a good heart deep down. I also love a woman who doesn’t give up when trying to find that good heart. Vi absolutely killed it with these characters and their story. It’s fun. It’s sexy. It’s emotional. Oh, did I mention that Fox is an ex-pro hockey player? Extra yum!
P.S. I love Daisy Duck 🦆
What Happens at the Lake is Vi Keeland’s newest romance and I loved everything about it. Grumpy hero, smart, capable heroine who are next door neighbors! Josie is looking for a place to heal so she goes to her dad’s hometown. She never thought she’d fall so fast for the town and its people. On her very first day, she hits her neighbors mailbox and he’s less than thrilled. But even though he’s the grumpiest grump alive, he keeps showing up to help her. Just little things and then more and more. Fox does not have time for his sexy new neighbor. But he can’t keep his eyes or his thoughts off her. He eventually gives in and helps her fix up her house. The more he gets to know her, the more he wants to know. And for the first time in a very long time, it’s more than just sexual attraction. He likes her. She makes him smile, and he never smiles. Everyone notices, especially Josie. He just can’t stop himself so he asks her out. Knowing the gossip mill is going to explode. He doesn’t care. He wants her and that’s it. When his past threatens to upend the new life he wants he needs to make a big decision. Let Josie go or chase after her. Oh my word! I loved this story. I laughed out loud so many times I lost count. I smiled, snickered and had to fan myself. I love Laurel Lake! Josie founds more than Fox there, she found her old self. She found a new family. Josie brought Fox back to life and reminded him what’s it feels like to be happy. Overall, I loved it. Every page, every character, everything. I even loved Daisy the duck! Ha!

Thoroughly Pucked is the third book in the My Hockey Romance series by Lauren Blakely. I’m loving this series and these characters. I fell hard and fast for Dev and Ledger! I already loved Aubrey and was excited to see her get the double d that she’s been wishing for. She’s left at the altar and saved by her brother’s best friends. Dev and Ledger have always liked Aubrey so they have no problem being there for her. Taking her wherever she needs to go and trying to help her get through the worst day of her life. They never expected to end up on a three-way honeymoon but they are here for it. When there’s only one bed things heat up. Aubrey never thought she’d be equally attracted to two men at the same time, but here she is. In one bed with them both. Dev always had a thing for Aubrey and he can’t believe his luck. Ledger was always attracted to her, but the timing was never right. Now the three of them are together, alone and all bets are off. It’s temporary, just until they get back home. But what happens if they want more? Do they want more? Hell yes they do! Dev and Ledger and are all in, but Aubrey needs a little time to sort out her life. Time they are willing to give her if it means they get to have her for real at the end. Oh man! I loved this story. So. Hard. The heat, the fun, the banter, the laughs, the sexiness. All perfection! Dev with his carefree attitude and love for hockey and family. Ledger with his broodiness and decisions he needs to make about what comes next. And Aubrey with her dreams, fantastic friends and hope. It’s the perfect romance!
Audio: Wowzas! Samantha, Teddy and Jason slayed this one! They were the perfect Aubrey, Dev and Ledger. My ears are still happy!
Throughly Pucked is the third MFM book in the My Hockey Romance series by Lauren Blakely. This series is bringing the heat and emotions. You can read each one as standalone but I highly recommend reading the series since it’s fun, delicious, and even inspiring.
On Aubrey’s wedding day she become single after her fiancé decided that he would rather be a f*ck boy than a married man. Her day was looking up when she saw two men, her brother’s best friends take her away in a getaway car. They were exactly what she needed. Two friends to make her laugh, turn the day into a fun night. That was when she remembered the honeymoon…
Dev and Ledger didn’t want their time with Aubrey to end. She had a honeymoon planned and paid for and it was still the off-season so she agrees that they can whisk her away for a week of fun. She had no idea how much fun it would be. Between great activities during the day and heated activities at night it was life-changing. She never thought she would fall into bed with one of her brother’s best friends but she was falling in with two and they didn’t mind one bit. It made their connection elevated and beautiful. But is she ready for more than a week of being throughly pucked by these amazing men? They had an expiration date and that was it.
Damn, Gina! Lauren made my iPad steam up with this one! It’s not all about the hotness though. Aubrey was learning more about herself and what she wants in life. Dev and Ledger are supportive and figuring out their own futures. I absolutely loved everything about their story and can’t wait for the next book!
Blurb

But what’s a runaway bride to do with a broken heart and a non-refundable honeymoon? Book an extra ticket and take two off-limits, totally charming, absolutely gorgeous star athletes who want to lift my spirits.
When we arrive there’s only bed in the hotel room.
And it happens to fit three. The goalie, the forward and me.

Reeve is a companion novel in the All of Me series by the ever-talented and one of my favorite authors, Siobhan Davis. You can NOT read this as a standalone. Believe me, you will want start at the beginning. It’s one of my favorite series. Ever. I don’t want to get into the storyline especially since if you read the series then you know what happens with Vivien’s POV. I will say that I loved getting Reeve’s POV. We knew he was going through some difficult times but this book dives deeper into his reality. It’s heartbreaking. Don’t get me wrong, I still wanted to knock some sense into him but we get a better understanding of all the hurts and betrayals. He was a determined young man who just wanted the love of his life. His only love. His best friend. He wanted to give her everything but lost his way. It’s an epic roller coaster ride and I am so glad Siobhan gave us his side of the story. I loved that it was just a retelling of the same story. Most of it is brand-new scenes! I can’t wait for Dillon’s! 💚

Less than 10 minutes after we met, I realized we could never be. She was forbidden to me.
She held my hand behind his back.
I gripped hers, knowing it was wrong.
I was on the cusp of superstardom—and still I held her fingertips because it felt right.
Knowing that when it all went wrong, we would be done—the media would destroy us.
After all, not only was she was four years older than me, she was the leader of SWT’s sister—my best friend—and someone who could wreck everything we’d worked for.
But I still held on.
I’m lost. So lost.
I’m the youngest in the group, the one everyone sees as the most innocent.
But they don’t know the stolen moments with her.
The kisses.
The touching.
They don’t know any of that.
So I keep acting as if I’m pure as the driven snow when really all it took was one chance meeting.
To make.

New Release & Review – Catered All The Way, Annabeth Albert
December 11, 2023 | Posted in Cover Reveal, New Release, Review | By Two Book Pushers
Tis the season for a hopeless crush on my older brother’s best friend…
This year will be different. I’m all grown up, my gaming channel is a huge success, and I finally have the confidence to make my move on Atlas Orion, the hottest chief in the navy.
However, I don’t intend for my smooth move to be covering Atlas in cranberry sauce. Not at all how I want to reintroduce myself to my new roomie and coworker. Atlas is in town to help save Seasons, my family’s historic holiday gift shop and event space. Seasons is booked solid with catered parties, so we need to avoid any more disasters.
Like my malfunctioning air mattress. We’re down to one bed, two dudes, and a whole lot of holiday-fling temptation. Atlas has never been with a guy, but I don’t have to do much persuading. And what better way to explore than a secret romp? No strings, and no one has to know.
The problem? With every passing week, I fall harder for Atlas, who’s far more than his drool-worthy muscles and heroic job. He’s kind, funny, makes me breakfast in bed, and each midnight snowball fight brings us that much closer to heartbreak.
Atlas can’t stay in Kringle’s Crossing forever, and I can’t imagine leaving the only place I’ve called home. Our feelings run deep, but is it a holiday illusion? Can we find our way to a lasting future?
CATERED ALL THE WAY is a brand-new, full-length holiday romance from the beloved author of THE GEEK WHO SAVED CHRISTMAS. Lovers of stand-alone swoon-worthy Christmas stories will fall for this geek + military pairing. Full of spicy first times, bisexual awakening, quirky small-town residents, and guest appearances from some fan-favorite characters, this only one bed, brother’s best friend romance is sure to find a place under many trees! Dual POV and the happiest of endings guaranteed.
https://readerlinks.com/l/3534004
Catered All the Way is a new holiday romance from Annabeth Albert. I love this story with its holiday theme, brother’s best friend and first time sexiness. Zeb has always had a crush on his brother’s best friend, Atlas. Now Atlas is home on leave and staying in his house. In his bed. He always thought he was straight, but soon learns he’s not quite. He’s thrilled and scared, but he’s going for it. Atlas has never been attracted to men, but he wants Zeb. They have a month together and they are going to make the most of it. Neither of them knew how hard it was going to be to walk away. Can they make it work after the holidays? They just need to decide to jump and make the move. I loved this story. It has so much heart, family, love, fun and lust. I loved the Easter eggs! Annabeth’s stories always make me happy and content!

New Release & Review – Where It Begins, Helena Hunting
December 6, 2023 | Posted in New Release, Review | By Two Book Pushers
Where it Begins is a novella in the Pucked series by Helena Hunting. Even wonder how Violet and Miller’s parents met? This is their story! Skye and Sidney…where have you been all my life! This story is so funny and sexy and sweet! I loved seeing how they met and fell in love and how nutty Skye is and where Violet got it from. Seeing Violet and Miller as teenagers was the best thing I never knew I always wanted! If you haven’t read the Pucked series, start here and you will never look back!
Review – Next Season, Lane Hayes
November 26, 2023 | Posted in Review | By Two Book Pushers
The injured hockey player and the grumpy chef…
Riley
My time playing pro hockey will be up soon. I can feel it. And I’ve heard the he’s too old, he’s had too many injuries, he’s lost his edge. I don’t want to admit it, but they could be right. Next season might be my last.
Or this season. Because of course, this is when the universe decides I need another concussion. It’s a doozy too—the kind that’s going to keep me off skates for a while.
Which is how I end up in a small New England town in the middle of nowhere Vermont, eating every meal at a diner where a grumpy chef from Quebec makes haute cuisine…and burgers. Jean-Claude is funny and charming and—
Okay, I have a crush on a gay man.
This is a new one.
Jean-Claude
Confused straight men are entertaining. But Riley is…fascinating, sexy, and curiously vulnerable. His injury has rocked his confidence a bit, so perhaps he’s in need of a friend. Any friend. Even moi .
I’m an unlikely choice, but maybe he just likes my tuna salad.
No…I think it’s me.
And though I’m happy to help him explore his bisexual curious side, I have career concerns of my own. See, the things I love most about Elmwood seem shaky and uncertain, but not Riley. He’s solid and genuine. Suddenly, this temporary secret liaison feels more real than anything in my life.
I need more than this season. I want it all. With Riley.
Next Season is an MM bisexual-awakening romance featuring a grumpy chef, an injured hockey player, and a big HEA in a small town where anything can happen.
Next Season is the second book in the The Elmwood Stories series by Lane Hayes. I loved You, Again and I was excited for Jean-Claude to get his story! When Vinnie’s old teammate and friend, Riley, is hurt and comes to Elmwood to recover. He spends a lot of time at the diner and eventually Jean-Claude has to say something to him about what he’s ordering. He makes a lot of delicious meals and Riley needs to eat something else. But Riley is recovering and very superstitious so he needs to have the same thing every day. Riley is pretty sure he’s straight. Mostly. Until he starts to see how attractive Jean-Claude is. Now he’s not so sure. He is sure that he wants to spend more time with him though. Get to know him. Touch him. He’s the first man he’s ever been attracted to so he’s not even sure what to do. Jean-Claude doesn’t want to get involved with a straight man, that never ends well. But Riley seems to be exploring more than experimenting. The attraction is real and not one-sided. Riley is only there temporarily while he heals and Jean-Claude is going to make the most of their time together. I love these two! They are sexy, fun and sweet. Jean-Claude is moody and so damn funny! I love when his accent gets the best of him! Riley is handsome and fun and just goes with the flow. I love how sure he was. He wasn’t afraid or freaked out by his feelings. He just went with it. The two of them together just make me so happy!! I laughed and smiled and loved it! I also loved seeing Vinnie and Nolan again. Can’t wait for more from Elmwood!

Review Tour – The Rules of Dating My One-Night Stand, Penelope Ward & Vi Keeland
November 16, 2023 | Posted in Review | By Two Book Pushers
Rules of Dating My One-Night Stand is the third book in the The Law of Opposites Attract by one of my favorite writing duos, Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. You can read each book as standalone but I recommend reading the series, it’s fantastic! The storylines. The characters. I was psyched for this book since we got a little glimpse at the end of the last book.
The Rules of Dating My One-Night Stand is the third book in the The Law of Opposites Attract by the fabulous writing duo of Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. I’m enjoying this series and I have to be honest, I haven’t been a fan of Owen’s at all. But I wanted to read his book and I’m so glad I did! After getting to know more about him, I realize he was just looking out for his friends because he wants what’s best for them. He’s actually a loving, caring, sweet man which didn’t come through to me in the last few books. But once he meets, Devyn, a woman he spent one fantastic night with, he can’t stop thinking about her. She was gone in the morning and he never thought he’d see her again. Then he finds out she’s living in his building even if she’s just there temporarily. He can’t believe his luck! But she’s not all in. She has a lot to deal with and her life is in California. He needs to have her in his life even if it’s just as friends. He’s willing to wait and be there for her hoping she’ll want more. They get closer and finally admit they both want more. Now they just have to get past all the obstacles life keeps throwing at them and hope they make it out together. I love this group of friends and their loyalty, fun, antics and comradery. Devyn was also great! She had a lot going on and it was nice to see her open up to Owen. I’m looking forward to Brayden’s story!
