“In this un-put-downable romance, Madden-Mills skillfully balances the emotional with the physical to produce a love story that’s equal parts scorching and sweet.” —Publishers Weekly

Beauty and the Baller, an all-new emotional and steamy opposites attract, fake relationship standalone romance from Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills is available now!

An NFL quarterback turned small-town coach gets sacked by a Texas beauty queen in this swoony, passionate romance from Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills.

Gorgeous, talented, and brilliant, NFL quarterback Ronan Smith has the world in his hands. But after losing his career and his fiancée in a car accident, he falls into a pit of grief and bad choices. When a mysterious girl shows up to his party, he feels drawn to her and makes her his…for one night.

Former beauty queen Nova Morgan is on a mission. Scantily clad as a princess from a galaxy far, far away, she sneaks into a high-profile party to capture the attention of her favorite quarterback. But her hopes crash after an awful one-night stand.

Fast-forward two years. Broke and desperate, Nova returns home to Blue Belle, Texas, where, by a cosmic twist of fate, her broody neighbor is none other than Ronan, the shiny new football coach everyone adores. But he has no idea who she is.

The booster club keeps shoving women at Ronan to keep him in town. His solution? He proposes fake dating to Nova. But things heat up for real under these Friday-night lights when he realizes she’s the one who slipped away.

5 out of 5 stars

Beauty and the Baller is Ilsa Madden-Mills’ latest epic romance. I have read most of Ilsa’s novels and this one is one of my favorites! The story. The characters. The fun. I was so close to finishing it in one day! I was seriously addicted.
Ronan lost everything a year ago. His career. His fiancée. He was in a black hole then he saw her. His Princess Leia. He had to save her and then he had to have her. It was the first time he saw the light in a year then she was gone when he woke up. That night changed him. She changed him and he didn’t even know her name or even remember most of her features. He wasn’t exactly sober but he was now. Two years later, he was in Blue Belle, Texas as a HS football coach who has been set on a pedestal he didn’t ask to be on…
Nova was home. Broke and taking care of her teenage sister, and she was in no mood for a party. Her neighbor, apparently the high school football coach was celebrating a win and his birthday. She didn’t care. She also didn’t care if she looked a hot mess. Then she sees him. Her one-night stand from two years ago. The one she both couldn’t forget and wanted to forget and apparently, he did. He didn’t even recognize her. The arrogant jerk. Fate was a total bitch.
Ronan and Nova’s twist of fate is epic, y’all. She knew it would be a bad idea to fake date him. He didn’t want entanglements. This wasn’t his home, it was a stepping stone and everyone knew it. It was why the whole town was trying to find him a woman to tie him down. Well, it wouldn’t be her even though she knew Ronan tying her down would be the best night of sex. Ever. Nope. She couldn’t go there until…
I can’t really get into the story anymore than that but I can say I absolutely loved this couple! The meet-cute. The banter. The connection. The heat. The passion for the game. The emotions. It was everything I expected and more. If you follow my reviews then you know I don’t read blurbs so all I knew was it had to do with a beauty and a football player. I am obsessed with the cover. I love Nova, she is a true badass. I love Ronan, he is an alpha with a romantic side. These two are fire! I also fell for the side characters too, Tuck is hilarious and the rest are too.
“You like to eavesdrop?”
“It’s a lesson all Southern women learn early.” She shrugs an elegant shoulder. “We don’t care if we get caught.”
“Come over to the dark side, Princess.”
“I love kissing you. Each time is different,” I murmur as our breaths mingle.
5 out of 5 stars

Beauty and the Baller is Ilsa Madden-Mills’ newest epic, second chance, fake relationship romance and I loved every second of it. It has heart, heat, humor, fun, sexiness, Star Wars, football, southern charm and a cast of relatable and loveable characters. Ronan is floored when his dream, a gorgeous blonde in a Princess Leia costume, crashes a football party. What’s a hero to do? Like Han Solo, save the Princess. Ronan might have been grief stricken and a little drunk, but his princess left a mark on his heart and soul. Nova jumps at the chance to get closer to The Ronan Smith. Dress up and pretend to know things about Star Wars? Check. Dance with sexy footballer? Check. Go back to his room and have the best night of your life? Check. It didn’t end the way Nova wanted, but she moved on, tried to forget about the hurt. Now she’s back in her hometown in Texas after her mother’s passing and the new football coach lives next door. To say she was shocked to find Ronan was the coach is a sever understatement. He’s still s gorgeous, but she has to ignore that. She hates him. He’s a jerkface. And apparently all the women in Blue Belle want him. Except her. Right? She needs to find a job, figure out how to raise her teenage sister. Ronan doesn’t remember her, but when he does it is on. He still feels a connection to the sexy blonde who ultimately saved him. What he needs it a fake girlfriend so all the crazy single women in town back off. He needs to keep things easy and light. He doesn’t expect to want to spend time with Nova. Want to know things about her. Her Secrets. What she wants out of life. He definitely did not expect to fall for her. But this town and the high school coaching job is just a stepping stone. Right? This can’t be his forever. Ronan doesn’t know what hit him until he almost loses it all. Will he be able to fight for his new life? Learn to live in the moment? Trust in fate? Wow! I have read a lot of books by Ilsa and this is by far one of my top two favorites. It has everything I love in a romance. A second chance, humor, sexiness, a fun, smart sexy hero with sexy hair, an independent, smart heroine. Secondary characters that could have their own stories and of course love. I laughed, cried, had to fan myself and wish there were going to be more Ronan and Nova. I honestly couldn’t love this story more! P.S. I love her clothes and shoes and his undying love for Star Wars!

5 out of 5 stars

Last Resort is the first book in the S.I.N. series by K. Bromberg and damn, what a start!! Each book can be read as standalone but they are connected by the Sharpe brothers and their business, Sharpe International Network. The three brothers have different personalities so this is going to be a sexy, domineering, and swoony series full of sin.
Sutton needed a change. She needed to do something for herself and she did just that when she accepted to revamp a resort in the Virgin Islands. To celebrate she spends it with friends at a club, what she didn’t expect was to have her first one-night stand. An unforgettable one-night stand who made her feel alive. She woke up alone, and she was okay with that. Until, she saw him again the next morning for her meeting with her new clients, the Sharpe brothers. She was screwed. She was actually royally fucked since she didn’t know which one of the triplets she spent the night with.
Callahan never went back for seconds. He never even looked back but the woman got under his skin and he didn’t even know her real name. Then she walks in just hours after leaving her in his suite. He didn’t like playing games but this meant too much to him and she looked like she has seen a ghost. He could tell she was trying to figure out who she was with last night and this morning but he couldn’t let her. He thought it would be easy to hide until he found out that he would be spending months with her on an island. He didn’t want to want her. He needed to keep his d*ck in his pants. He couldn’t afford to be the fuck-up his brothers think he is. And sleeping with an employee was a hard-no. But fuck if he wanted to…
Two months. In paradise. Undeniable sexual tension. Long days. Even longer nights. Can these two keep their hands off each other? Hell no but who is going to break first?
I loved this story! It’s not just about the sexy times, it’s about growth and acceptance. Yes, the character are delicious but they also have their own struggles and together have obstacles to push past. I laughed, cried, and swooned. I can’t wait for the next book. Will it be Ford or Ledger who falls next?

Release Blitz, Review & *Giveaway* – Say It’s Forever, A.L. Jackson

Say It’s Forever
A Close Proximity, Single Parent Romance from A.L. Jackson
Available Now on Amazon and Free with Kindle Unlimited

My loves! It is HERE! I am so excited to share SAY IT’S FOREVER with the world! I’m so in love with these beautiful characters, and I can’t wait for you to fall in love with them, too!
“Oh my heart and my soul……this book took both and I’m never getting them back!”
-Melissa ❤️ bookaddict_fanatic
“Dark, gritty and undeniably sexy, this romance stole my heart and didn’t let go until the very end.”
-Kelly, Goodreads Reviewer

From NYT and USA Today bestselling author A.L. Jackson comes a close proximity, single-parent stand-alone romance about a woman on the run and the man who will do anything to save her…
Jud Lawson found me stranded in the rain.
Broken down on the side of the road in a deserted neighborhood with my piece of crap car.
I wasn’t looking for a hero, and definitely not one who looks like him.
An obscenely hot, mountain-of-a-man who screams danger.
But I have little choice other than climbing onto the back of his bike.
One look at Salem Aguilar, and I’m hooked.
The girl is devastation wrapped in a black, seductive bow.
A knockout.
A dream.
Turns out, she needs a job, and I need the help.
Now I have a vixen strutting around my shop, and I’m the fool who’s itching to reach out and take what he can’t have.
But neither of us can ignore the burning attraction.
The fire that leads to a kiss.
A kiss that has us falling into my bed.
The connection that has me wanting the one thing I’d never thought I could have again.
Because monsters like me don’t deserve love.
Only Salem has a secret, too.
She’s been running for years, and her past just caught up to us…

5 out of 5 stars
Say It’s Forever is the second book in the Redemption Hills series by A.L Jackson. You can read it as standalone but I highly recommend reading Give Me a Reason first since the series is tied together by brothers. Plus, it is a-mazing! The Lawson Brothers are protective, sweet, and oh-so swoony and the women they love are bad ass.
Jud was on his way home when he saw her. A woman on the side of the road with a broken down car. There was no way he was just going to let her stand in the rain at night when he could help her out. In that moment, he had no idea that this woman would knock him on his ass. She was a knockout. A wildcat ready to claw him if he went too close. She was a fighter and that only turned him on more.
Salem didn’t want to go with this man. She didn’t know him and he had danger written all over him but she sensed he was safe. She always felt a jumpstart. A jolt. One she hadn’t felt in years. She wanted to be home. She needed to be home. He had other plans. To get her to safety. What she didn’t expect was him. He was more than she expected. Kind, sweet, protective. She didn’t want his charity though. He insisted on fixing her car and she was going to repay him. This was just the start…
I can’t really get into the story anymore than that but I can say these two are a beautiful fuckin’ mess. One that they can only figure out. Salem has her reasons for being on the move. Jud has his for not moving on. They see each other. The sexual tension is crazy hot but that’s not it, their connection is beautiful. Not everyone likes it though. This story is not butterflies and rainbows. It’s deep. In poetic A.L fashion. There are twists. Their story isn’t easy but worth it.
Overall… Wow. Just wow. I was in it from beginning to end. I had to know what was going to happen next. I laughed, I cried, I swooned, I blushed, I cried some more. It’s an emotional ride and I loved every second of it. I can’t wait for Logan’s story. That man makes me laugh and swoon already so I know I am going to fall hard.
“You want me on your bike? That’s what this was all about?”
All? Not even close.
But it was a damned good start.
The truth was, I didn’t want to let her out of my sight.
Still, I played along, kept the words light. “Might be the only way I get those legs wrapped around me.”
“Only time I’m willing to spend this much money on dinner is when I’m getting something out of it.”
“Well, you’re not gettin’ dead, so there’s that,” I shot back.
Gage giggled like crazy. “Oh, you better watch it, Uncle Logan, Uncle Jud is about to Take. You. Dowwwwn.”
“Sometimes the scariest journeys are the ones where the lost finally find the right path to lead them home.”

New Release & Review – Tough Luck, Annabeth Albert

March 26, 2022 | Posted in New Release, Review | By

My best friend’s little brother needs a bodyguard. Now I’m the one in danger…

I’m a SEAL. Or rather, I was. Retired at the grand old age of thirty-eight, I’m at loose ends. My best friend wants me to join his security team. I’m not sure I’m bodyguard material, but he needs someone to protect his kid brother. How hard can spoiled brat duty be?

Somehow, I missed the part where former child star Danny Love went from dorky TV darling to all grown up and disturbingly attractive. All the gossip about his wild ways fails to mention that he’s trying hard to clean up his act. But now he’s got a stalker.

Hiding out together in a remote mountain cabin, alone, the temptation keeps building. I’m feeling things I never have before. Secrets I’ve kept even from myself bubble to the surface every time Danny looks my way with those puppy dog eyes.

I’m a SEAL. We leap into danger. So why is it so terrifying when that danger comes with the softest pair of lips I’ve ever known? At some point we’re going to have to return to Hollywood and our vastly different lives. Will Danny still want me around when he doesn’t need me for protection? Can I be brave enough to give him a reason to?

TOUGH LUCK is book one in a brand-new SEAL bodyguard series. It features an age gap, steamy first times, and all the high heat, big emotions, and found family feels readers expect from this fan-favorite military romance author. Join A-List security for this lower-angst series featuring former SEALs and the celebrity clients who win their hearts. Happy endings and no cliffhangers guaranteed!

Tough Luck is the first book in the A-List Security series by Annabeth Albert. I’m a huge fan of Annabeth’s and I’m loving this new series! This is an age-gap, best friend’s brother romance and I loved every second of it! Cash is a retired SEAL and Danny is an ex-actor who’s being stalked and needs some help. Cash agrees to help Danny as a favor to his best friend, Duncan. He’s expecting Danny to be a spoiled diva, but he’s nothing like he thought. Danny didn’t expect a huge, burly man to show up at his house while he was doing naked yoga. But he’s glad he’s there because he gets another threat. This one scares him enough to pack a bag and find a safe place with Cash for a few days. Cash always knew there was something about him he wasn’t quite sure about. The more he gets to know Danny, he’s pretty sure he’s always liked men, but being a SEAL, he never felt safe to be who he was. Now he has the opportunity to explore his thoughts, feelings and desires. Danny is totally on board to show Cash what he’s been missing. Along the way, they share their lives and their bodies. Danny is learning more about himself and what he wants to do with his life. Cash is finally comfortable in his own skin. There’s still a dangerous stalker out there, but together they can overcome anything! I loved Danny and Cash! They are opposites in looks and lifestyle, but they just fit together. They know when to have fun and when to be serious. They also have crazy hot chemistry! I couldn’t get enough of them and I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

New Release and Reviews – Shut Up and Kiss Me, Lauren Blakely

March 25, 2022 | Posted in Release Day Blitz, Review | By

When a scorching one-night stand between best friends absolutely, definitely shouldn’t happen again…

How to resist sleeping with your best friend when you’re stuck in a hotel room in Vegas with the charming, glasses-wearing hottie.

1. Slather your face in a grapefruit mask
2. Wear a big, fluffy robe
3. Make him do the same.

Didn’t work. Turns out our libidos had other plans.

But, no biggie. After epic, soul-shattering banging, I’ll just put the genie back in the bottle the next morning. Only, that’s easier said than done. After years of scraping by, Nolan and I just landed the big break of a lifetime for our scrappy online restaurant review show. We’re going to New York for a month.

Just the two of us. TOGETHER ALL THE TIME.

But I’ve already lost my best friend once, so I’ll do whatever it takes to resist thoroughly delicious Nolan again.

Until I learn whatever it takes might cost me everything.

Sandra's Review

5 out of 5 stars

Shut Up and Kiss Me is the second book in the Happy Endings series by one of my favorite authors ever, Lauren Blakely. You can read each book as standalone but I recommend reading A Wild Card Kiss since it’s fan-f*@king-tastic! The wait is over, people! This is Nolan and Emerson’s story…
Emerson and Nolan are best friends. They met in college twelve years ago and for the last year and a handful of months they have been working together co-hosting a food show on YouTube. They have toed the line over the years but never fully crossed it and with the show picking up speed they need to keep it that way. So, it should be easy to spend a weekend in Las Vegas in a suite, right?
Totally! Not like they haven’t been there before or shared a room over the last twelve years. This trip is all business. That is until the banging begins. One night. That is all it could be. They have to go back to the other side of the line. Back to best friends and co-hosts. They both need to bring their channel to the top. But can they go back to the way they were before Vegas? I mean it’s not like Nolan is a glasses-wearing hottie who makes her laugh or a man who melts her panties with just a smirk. Or even makes her blush and think naughty thoughts with his flirty innuendos. And Emerson isn’t beautiful in every way even if she thinks she can be an jerk or makes him hard with just one look. Or makes him laugh with her to-do lists. Nope, definitely none of those things.
I absolutely adored this story! It’s so much fun, sizzling, and emotional. The perfect combo! They made me laugh so hard I snorted. Their connection is beautiful and full of heart, want, and devotion. It was also fun to catch up with both the San Francisco  and New York friends. I can’t wait for more of their stories. ♥️♥️
Wait a sexy seconds “No off told me there would be snacks,” I say to Nolan, latching onto this new intel.
“I didn’t know they were offering your favorite meal of the day,” he says.
(HAHA. I had to add this one since I am know for my snacks.)
“I’ll sleep on the couch,” I blurt.
Or maybe I croak it. I’m a frog. A horny toad.
It’s insane and wild and intimate, beautiful in its own dirty way.
5 out of 5 stars

Shut Up and Kiss Me is the second book in the Happy Endings series by Lauren Blakely. This is a fun, sexy, best friends to lovers story that had me laughing out loud, swooning and made me hungry. Nolan and Emerson are best friends who do a YouTube show together, How to Eat a Banana. It’s a food show full of innuendo and fun and they both love what they do and have fun doing it. They get an opportunity to take the show to New York and that means a lot of togetherness. All of a sudden the sexual tension is off the charts. But getting their show to the next level is more important than taking their friendship to the lover zone. But it’s hard to resist the person who makes you laugh. Who looks at you like you’re their next meal. The attraction is just too much to ignore and they give in to it. But was it just one night or can they make it work? Is there too much on the line to get involved with your co-worker? I love this couple! Nolan is just so swoony with his glasses and his sense of humor. Emerson is fun, smart and sexy. I’m really enjoying this series and all it’s characters. I can’t wait for them all to get books!

Audio: Jason and Julia were so fantastic! I love them together and thought they were the perfect Nolan and Emerson!

His life was everything her father warned her about. He was used to being followed and she was used to her privacy. She didn’t even use her father’s last name as a professional. They would have to be a secret. A forbidden secret. Will that be enough though? It is just a fling or something more? I ♥️ Vaughn and Olivia! They are 🔥 and so much more. I loved all the their sides. They are so much fun, hot AF, sweet, and swoony. Vaughn with his goddaughter just made me melt. Then his hair pulling skills made me want to make babies with him. Lol. I am so excited about the rest of this series! P.S. Make sure to read the bonus scene! Quotes: “I thought you were being completely unprofessional and wasting my time.” He sweeps a piece of my hair off my cheek. “And then you just stood up for yourself and put me in my place. I’ve never been so turned on in my life.” He brushes his hands through my hair and kisses me, soft and slow, like an old-fashioned love song. “For fuck’s sake, Liv, why do you want me incarcerated?”

Turns out, she’s good at a lot of things so she takes on multiple jobs to see where her heart is happy. Her first day in Pearl Lake, she sees Aaron again and he’s a total jerk to her. Then she sees how nice and flirty he is with everyone but her. She’s not deterred, everyone likes her so she’s going to find out what his problem is. Aaron has a reputation as a playboy, but that’s not really who he is and that lifestyle is over. He’s just working and trying to be. Until Teagan shows up. He knows she’s different and could complicate his life so he’s a total donkey to her (when he admits his donkey behavior was one of my favorite scenes!). When she finally calls him on his behavior he admits he’s attracted to her and wants her. One kiss sparks more and more. He can do this, he can try to have a relationship. He even wants to tell her something no one else in his life knows. Everything seems to be perfect until he notices changes in Teagan. She’s sleeping less, eating less and something just isn’t right. When he calls her on it, it doesn’t go over well. Teagan knows she’s working too hard and not sleeping enough but she’s making it work. Until she’s not. Teagan has choices to make. Things to do to heal herself. Aaron is going to be by her side for whatever she needs. It’s not going to be easy. It won’t happen overnight. But it will happen. I wasn’t prepared for the emotional roller coaster, but I loved it! Her anxiety gave me anxiety, but it was worth it. What she was going through isn’t unique and I loved the way it was handled. And Aaron, that poor man! He’s dealing with so much and Teagan just helps him and makes his life better. And of course, I love that he works with his shirt off and his hat on backward, that’s always a plus! Overall, I laughed, cried, was emotionally invested and looking forward to more in the series!

She crooks a finger, beckoning me closer. But there’s only six inches separating us. If I take a step forward, my boots will touch her toes. So I bend instead, until my ear is next to her lips, like I’m waiting for her to tell me a secret. For a moment I consider the fact that I’ve been up and down the stairs to the loft at least a dozen times. The only air circulation in here is from a portable fan, so I’ve been sweating and shirtless for several hours. I might not smell all that fresh. But that thought disappears when her fingertips drag along my collarbone and I feel the warmth of her breath at the edge of my jaw. “Aaron.” Her palm wraps around the back of my neck. So soft. So warm. I swallow and grind out, “I’m listening.” Her thumb finds that spot between my ear and my jaw, and she presses, gently at first and then more firmly. Her lips brush the shell of my ear, and she whispers, “Look at me.” I feel like a marionette, and she’s pulling all my strings. I turn my head toward her, and her lips brush across my cheek, sending a hot shiver down my spine, lighting me up like a pinball machine. Teagan Firestone is a dangerous woman. Sweet, beautiful, broken, and yet . . . bold and resilient. She’s a lethal combination, and it’s all compounded when those soft lips meet mine. I don’t even know what’s happening. Well, I know. I’m kissing her. Or she’s kissing me. She definitely started it. It’s like an explosion. Like an entire warehouse of firecrackers igniting at the same time. I groan into her mouth and wrap an arm around her waist, pulling her flush against me. Our tongues tangle, and her other hand grips my biceps, sliding up and over my shoulder. She knocks my hat off my head, and it drops to the floor behind me. And then both of her hands are in my hair, sliding through the damp strands, gripping at the crown, angling my head farther to the side. Deepening the kiss. Dragging it out.

New Release & Review – Shenanigans, Sarina Bowen

March 15, 2022 | Posted in Release Day Blitz, Review | By

What I meant to do in Vegas: Let my hair down for once and celebrate winning a medal at my first women’s hockey all-stars competition.

What I actually did: Got senior prom drunk and woke up married to Brooklyn’s star winger, the great Neil Drake.

He’s the heir to a billion dollars, and I barely survived my childhood. Our friendship is based strictly only on hockey, takeout food, and smack talk.

And now holy matrimony. Although we both know it can’t last, especially once his evil family gets wind of our Vegas shenanigans…

Contains: Meddling teammates, meddling parents, ugly jewelry, and a pretend-kiss that nearly sets the world on fire.

Shenanigans is the sixth book in the Brooklyn series by Sarina Bowen. I love this series so much! This is another awesome pairing of both the hero and heroine being Brooklyn hockey players. Charli is bada** and I already knew she and Neil were going to be fire together. They come from completely different backgrounds and lifestyles and up to this point they appeared to hate each other. But everyone knew better. Especially when they end up drunk and married in Vegas. It’s hilarious and perfect for them. Now they have to deal with each other and their feelings. Neil wants a favor from his fake wife and Charli wants a new place to live. Win win. Until they start to really like each other. Become friends. And then more. Their chemistry is off the charts and their flirt game is epic. And they aren’t as opposite as they thought they were. Neil had feelings for Charli before he married her and now he wants her even more. But she just can’t trust people. Her past is still too fresh. Can Neil tell Charli how he really feels before it’s too late? Will Charli trust that Nate isn’t who she thought he was? He’s everything. I love these two and all their friends and Jimbo! Being with these two teams, and groups of friends just makes me happy. I also loved that Neil is a type 1 diabetic and that was a huge part of this story. It showed what he needed to go through to check his sugar, eat and his send insulin to his pump.

Audio – Jason Clarke and Vanessa Edwin were really fantastic! I love them both and I though they brought the perfect mix of humor and emotion to Neil and Charli.

Title: Wild Side
Series: Burgers and Brew Crüe #4
Author: Lacey Black
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: March 15, 2022

Last man standing. I’ve watched all three of my friends fall in love with no desire to ever follow in their footsteps. Collectively, we own the hottest restaurant, bar, and brewery in town. They are a few of the places I find peace, a refuge against this cruel world. When I’m on the stage playing music, everything just seems to fade away.
Until I saw her.
She was sitting in the crowd, a bright, beautiful ray of light, fighting against the darkness surrounding me. I do everything I can to keep her in the friend-zone, but she’s making it difficult.
I don’t just want her; I need her.
The first moment I saw him on the stage I knew he was different. Rough, tattooed, and with the voice of an angel, he was playing guitar and singing a song about love and hurt. I was captivated, completely drawn to the emotions I saw in those warm whiskey eyes. From that moment on, I felt compelled to be his friend.
He didn’t make it easy.
The boundaries between friendship and relationship start to blur, and even though he fights me every step of the way, I can’t help the way I feel. I promised him I’d always be his friend.
Now I want more.

Wild Side is the fourth novel in the Burgers and Brew Crüe series by Lacey Black. You can read each book as standalone but I HIGHLY recommend reading the series in order since they are all connected by friendship, family and business. I have been waiting for Jameson’s story, we all knew it was going to happen one day and that day is here…
Jameson is happy for his friends. They have all fallen in love and their lives are better for it but he never wanted any of it. He lived in darkness even though others saw light in him. They were his real family. He was content living his life surrounded by them, the business, music, and motorcycle rides. Amie to scratch an itch once in awhile. But then he saw her. A woman in pearls watching him on stage. She was different. She was bathed in light. The kind of woman who probably thought he was the worst kind of man. Trouble and she would be right. She should stay away. He should stay away…
Madelyn was new to town. She only had two people in her life in Stewart Grove. Her grandmother and cousin. She was happy to be free of her New York life. She wasn’t looking for more until she saw him. A man who took up the stage and her attention. He was broad, tattooed, and all man. A man who she didn’t seeing coming. He was different and she wanted him. She was warned to stay away but everything brought them together. New friendships, sexual tension, and an undeniable connection. It was only supposed to be no-strings attached between new friends but it was more…
They both knew it. They are both scared to fall. Will they catch each other?
These two are🔥🔥 Two badasses for different reasons. Two souls connecting. I am so happy that Jameson found the one. It was so fun catching up with the crüe. They are friendship and family goals. I hope to see them all again one day.
Over and over, I tasted and savored the feel of her beneath me.
My rough to her smooth.
“You ever get up on that bar?” she asks, catch me a little off guard.
“Hell no. Walker’s the only dancer in the group.”
“Too bad,” she replies, averting her gaze. “I bet you’ve got all the moves.”
“You know, for a man with few words, you sure know how to make them count.”

TROPES: single dad, workplace romance, grumpy hero, age gap, forced proximity

USA Today Bestselling author Adriana Locke delivers a “fresh and fun!” romance between a grumpy single dad and his beautiful, spunky employee—the one he can’t have.

Chemistry is not love.

That’s what my boss, the grumpy single dad with brilliant green eyes, says anyway.

I have my V-card. He’s ten years older than me. I work for him.

Nate Hughes has a million reasons why a relationship between us would never work. Honestly? It’s all a farce.

He can’t deny our connection. His soft smiles, brief touches, and protective behaviors come too easily. And when I need a place to stay? He can’t stop himself from offering me a room—though I’d prefer his bed. After all, there are sparks—delicious, sizzling sparks—when we’re together.

Our forced proximity brings things to a head. Our shared experiences and traumas draw us closer. Our undeniable attraction has us toeing the line between friends and lovers—whether Nate likes it or not.

He’s right—chemistry is not love. But that doesn’t mean that I won’t fall in love with him … even if he can’t love me back.

“Do you want me to pay rent or help with groceries? We really didn’t go over any of that,” she says, licking her lips.

My gaze settles on her finger approaching the pudding container again. “You’re a college student with a part-time job. You don’t have any money.”

“That’s true.” She smiles smugly before lifting her eyes to mine. “I’m sure we could come up with something.”

She trails her finger around the walls of the plastic before bringing it to her lips again. With her hand poised in front of her face, she smiles at me.

Nope. Not letting that happen.

I clamp her wrist with my hand and suspend it in midair. Her eyes go wide, her breath halting in her throat as she waits for my reaction.

Her skin is warm in my palm. Her wrist is so small, so delicate, that I ease my grip so I don’t accidentally hurt her.

I’m not sure why I touched her, but it’s either because I’m sleep-deprived and it’s late or I want to teach her a lesson. Or maybe I just want to see her reaction.

I stare at her as deeply as I can. She holds her breath as she considers—hopes? fears?—what I’m going to do.

I twist her wrist and bring her hand to my face. A smirk settles on my lips as her entire body stills.

Then with the most deliberate move I’ve ever made, I bring her finger to my mouth.

My heart thunders in my chest as my self-restraint shatters into a million pieces.

I suck her finger between my lips. She gasps, her body shaking in response. I run my tongue around the pudding before biting lightly against her skin as I remove her digit from my mouth.

Every muscle in my body tightens. My blood heats to a dangerous degree. My hand trembles as I hold her hand in mine and try desperately not to tug her whole body into me.

Her chest heaves. She forces a swallow as she leans back against the counter. Her breath is loud and quick, breaking the silence of the room.

Shit,” she says, a mixture of a plea and a promise.

I just look at her and smile. “Is that what you wanted?”

She swallows again.

I release her wrist from my palm. Then I lean in until we’re only inches apart—until I’m so close that I can smell the sweetness of her breath—and grin.

“That’s the only time my mouth will get anywhere near you.” I turn toward the doorway, ignoring the protest of every cell in my body. “I’ll see you in the morning.”

Kara's Review

5 out of 5 stars

Sweet is the sixth book in the Landry series by Adriana Locke. This is Nate and Paige’s story and I’ve been looking forward to it since I knew they were going to get together. Nate is Dominic’s brother and Paige is Hollis’s sister (Hollis is one of my favorite characters of Adriana’s!!) Paige works for Nate and they have always had chemistry and their flirt game is strong. Nate is running a business, working part-time for Landry security and raising his son. He doesn’t have time for flings. He wants forever. Paige is young, having fun, trying to get her college degree. She wants Nate, but she only wants temporary. They both have pasts that made them who they are and they weren’t easy to overcome. Nate already knows that once he touches Paige, it’s game over for him. Paige isn’t so sure. She’s so used to being in relationships that she knows won’t last long, but Nate is not that guy. She wants to run from her feelings and from him. Nate just has to prove to her that she can’t outrun love and show her that he will always find her and bring her back. Oh, Nate. I love you! You are grumpy and sexy and funny. Loyal, protective, fierce and such a good dad. Paige is stronger than she things for surviving her childhood. She has a loving family now and of course, Hollis, her brother. I just love him so much! Paige’s brothers are getting books so I’m hopeful that means more Hollis. 🙂

Sandra's Review

5 out of 5 stars

Sweet is the sixth and I believe final book in the Landry Family series by Adriana Locke. Each book follows a different couple so you can read them as standalones but I highly recommend reading the series since it is fantastic. Even though Nate is not a Landry he is part of the family being Dominic’s brother.

Nate is a single dad to seven-year-old, Ryder. He is also a bar owner and a part-timer at Landry Security. His life is full taking care of his son and his bar. He didn’t think he was missing out on anything until she walked in eight months ago and turned his world upside down with her sass and flirt. He loves their friendship and they way they flirt, at work where things can’t cross the line. But now, with Paige needing a place to stay changes everything…

Paige’s beginnings were not easy. Her life now is a work-in-progress. Hence, her eviction. She needs a place to stay and she has always felt safe with her boss, Nate. They have a fun friendship. Does she want him? Hell yes. Does she want a forever? No, she runs away from it. Nate does want a forever kind of love so they can’t go further than their flirty banter. It would be too heartbreaking in the end for all three involved so it is what it is until it isn’t…

I ♥️ Nate Hughes! I♥️ Paige! I ♥️ Ryder! These three are amazing. Their lives have not been easy. Their childhoods were heartbreaking and I love that they found each other. I adore them. And I can’t wait for the Carmichaels! These men are hilarious form what we get a glimpse of through Paige.

“I think you like it when I fuck with you.” I bite my bottom lip. “Don’t you, Nate?”
His grin isn’t friendly or amused. It’s sinful.

Maddox: Your dumb-as-shit brother was doing God knows what and broke it.
Me: Dude, that’s YOUR brother. You share his DNA. Not me.
Maddox: You know what? I resent you using your adoption status to your advantage in times like these.

“Ugh. It was an accident, Dad.”
Paige stands at the edge of the mess and grins. “Yeah, Dad.”
I smirk. “Doesn’t have the same effect as Daddy.”
“I will never call you that seriously,” she says, laughing.
